FAQ
Are you the creator of MDHM? Yes
What are your pronouns? I go by any but mostly stick to They/Them.
Are you LGBTQ+? Yes. I am bisexual and genderfluid lithromantic.
What inspired you to make MDHM? I have spoken about this openly, but MDHM was inspired from a fanfic. As of now, I am rewriting MDHM after the author of the fic was understandably upset that I never reached out to them. They don't want anything to do with the game, so I will kindly ask fans not to drag them into it.
Is there a lore masterlist for MDHM? Yeah! In fact, it's this post! If you wanna still learn more there is the tag #lore drop everyone!
What program do you use for the game? I do not directly program the game, but we are using renpy.
What are your art tools? I use Clip Studio Paint and a Wacom for my art
How can I support you? I have a Patreon and a Ko-fi
I am a minor, can I still make sfw art of MDHM? No. For your own safety and mine. Do not interact with me or the MDHM blog.
Can I DM you questions about the characters and lore for MDHM? No. Please keep any questions regarding MDHM directly to the blog's ask box. I will not reply to any more DMs.
Can I ask for character scenarios and prompts? Please don't ask for specific requests/ideas/ocs in my ask box. This is SOLELY a lore-related blog.
Can you make an android/mobile version of MDHM? No. Stop asking me for it. I don't want the game to be easier to access for minors.
When are you going to release Day 3? It usually takes me a whole year to finish a day before. Now I have a whole team, and it take me a few months. So if we are lucky, possibly by the end of the year of 2025,

we're on tumblr again yay✨

Hey everyone! And welcome to Snoozy Kazoo's first ✨TUMBLR DEVPOST!!✨ We'll be releasing these every month from now on as a way to keep everyone updated on Snoozy Kazoo news!
If you're new here, hi! We’re Snoozy Kazoo, a game dev studio of six guys who make dumb, silly, and fun games. You might know us from the games Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion and Turnip Boy Robs a Bank, available HERE and HERE!
Let's get caught up! In this issue we're covering a new mobile release, anniversaries, and... our NEW GAME? 😳😳😳
What's Snoozy been up to?
Ok I know what I said earlier, but let’s be honest: if you’ve stumbled deep into the mines enough to find your way here, you’re surely familiar with our beloved Turnip Boy. We just passed by his anniversary of robbing a bank on January 18th! Aww! They grow up so fast… But it’s a good thing he’s not robbing banks anymore, that’s a crime, you kn-
Aw crud he's doing it on your phone now
Snaps my fingers disappointingly. Aw man. Yerrrrp. Turnip Boy Robs a Bank is now on iOS and Android devices near you. His mindless yet fervent desire to wreck crime upon the world seems insatiable. It’s really unfortunate, except for the fact that it’s honestly really fun watching him go at it.

The game is available TODAY on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store! Re-experience the game or force your friends to — its fun either way!
Ahhh the beloved Turnip Boy. Surely your next game will be about him right?
Heehee nope!
Excitingly, in November, we announced our next game: Hobnobbers! A co-op mall-looter where you rob malls for your goddess!
youtube
If you haven’t already wishlisted the game yet, well… go wishlist it! Go make your friends wishlist it! Wishlist wishlist wishlist! It really helps us beat the Algorithm Overlords, so literally every single wishlist counts!
I already know about your little crow-gnome mall-looting game you do not shut up about it. What else is new?
We also released a new devlog over on our YouTube! We’ll be releasing one of these every few months, so make sure to subscribe!
youtube
In it, we’ve covered the game’s conception till its early development, which means a lot of concept art. Honestly, let’s toss a little bit more of it over here; it’s always exciting to see behind the curtain!

Now get ready for... 🥁🥁🥁
Woah! What’s this little place? Perhaps the chance to get to meet different members of the team and bombard them with questions to foster a parasocial relationship with them? No way!
Introducing… Alexis! Our Unreal Developer!
What are you most excited for in Hobnobbers?
I’m very excited for a lot of different technical aspects and seeing people’s reaction to the game! I want to see all of the systems come together to create a perfect storm of chaos. The randomly generated map ontop the hexes system, with events like Money Storms, Floods, and Fairy Circles of Doom, is going to make each run completely unique and you’ll never know what kind of madness you’re getting into! On launch day I intend to be hopping into games with people (and fixing any bugs that crop up).
What’s something you’ve worked on in Hobnobbers recently that you’ve found particularly frustrating?
The level generation for the mall has been a particular nightmare, but in a very fun way. The mall is generated from bottom-to-top and each floor tells the floor above it about the different combinations of rooms that it can generate. This allows us to have those iconic vertical levels that overlap eachother with walkways above the floors below! This has required a lot of tuning in both making the parts that generate, and how to place them to get results that are always interesting (without bugs). Not only do we have to generate each floor, we also have to generate each store! Accounting for the size and placement of these is a constant challenge when making segments but I made a blender template that speeds it up quite a lot.
What pitch did you end up bringing to the pitch competition?
My pitch was a game about a vampire who was ousted from their castle by another vampire, and is trying to take it back. You would have to sneak back in through various pathways that challenge you in different ways, some would require parkour skills, others would require puzzle solving. And while you’re doing all of this, the AI learns and adapts to your behavior setting traps or blocking off paths in a constant game of cat and mouse. I am still extremely passionate about this idea, and fully intend to pursue it one day!
Awesome! Thank you for your time! 😊
Okie dokie that’s a wrap for now
In future devposts, we’ll be including questions sent in by the community! Feel free to send them in over here on Tumblr, or join our Discord and ask questions in the “ask-the-devs-❓” channel!
See you soon!

Hello there!
I'd like to know your advice on drawing tablets?
As in, what do you use for your digital art? Is there any you suggest?
I'm planning on getting one, but there are so many options, and I'd like to know your opinion and preference.
Thank you ^^
hi anon! thanks for the question!
i draw with a samsung galaxy tab s7!
BUT if this is your first time drawing digitally, then it's a good idea to test out if you like it with cheaper options first (so you don't drop a whole lot of money on a hobby/medium of art you don't enjoy)
some suggestions:
if you have a smart phone, try drawing with your finger using free to use drawing apps like ibispaint X or HiPaint (i recommend HiPaint cuz the UI is a lot simpler and less overwhelming, but both have a good selection of tools. i wanna say ibispaint has better text tools tho and there's A LOT more tutorials and resources online) drawing digitally with your finger is different from drawing digitally with a pen AND drawing traditionally, but this is a good way to familiarize yourself with digital art tools. a very simple entry point if you already have a smart phone.
if you don't want to draw with your finger (understandable, i personally couldn't stand it) you can try simple drawing tablets, which are the tablets that you plug into your computer/laptop, come with a pen, but they don't have a screen you draw directly on. they're actually a lot more affordable nowadays (i saw some for under $50 CAD, which is WILD), so that’s a good starting option if you want to draw with a pen. with a pen, you have more control with line weights than you do with your finger, but it takes practice to get used to. it also takes some getting use to drawing on a tablet and looking at your monitor, but this is where i started haha. i still have my old bamboo wacom create drawing tablet. but nowadays, other brands like xp-pen and huion are very comparable to wacom, so definitely consider getting a cheaper one to try out first. of course, if you go with a drawing tablet, you'll need an art program on your computer. i've used photoshop and clip studio paint and they're very good, but probably overwhelming for people who are new to digital art (they are loaded with tools and you have to really familiarize yourself with the menus and everything). there are probably simpler options available... but i'm not as familiar with them. oh wait, i think there are some drawing tablets that can also connect with your smart phone too nowadays. man, that's so cool. that's probably a better option instead of purchasing photoshop or clip studio paint right off the bat.
if you REALLY want a screen display experience, try a cheaper general tablet. iPads are a popular option if you're comfortable with the Apple ecosystem (i'm not 😅) but they can be pricey PLUS you have to buy the Apple pen separately. for Android, I'm pretty sure even the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 is a solid choice and it comes with a pen unlike an iPad. the SPen is built with Wacom tech, so you know it's quality. and while iPad has Procreate, HiPaint is available for Android and it's basically a Procreate clone (i explain more about HiPaint here) otherwise, ibisPaint X is also good and infinite painter is probably the most sophisticated free to use drawing app i've encountered (sophisticated as in it does a pretty good job at imitating traditional media in their brushes. it's cool, but the free version is very limited).
also if you like watching videos, Brad Colbow and Teoh on Tech on YouTube are great resources. they specifically review tech from an artist's perspective.
why i suggest testing it out is because if you're used to drawing traditionally, then switching to digital is a different experience. some artists can't get used to drawing digitally, and that's fine. that's why it's a good idea to test it out with a cheaper option first to see if you like it and to give yourself time to familiarize yourself with drawing apps/programs. i actually kinda hated drawing digitally at first. i didn't have the same level of control that i was used to with drawing traditionally. and overtime i made a lot of bad habits with my digital art that i had to unlearn by switching back to traditional art for a couple years (some bad habits like: relying on the Undo button to make "perfect" lines; trying to draw really fast because the pen glides over the screen unlike a pencil has friction against paper) so... give it a try and just let yourself have fun. don't worry about making anything perfect, just have fun!
#ask the crab#i hope you have fun!#i first got my bamboo wacom tablet in 2011#and it's still very good#i use my samsung tablet now because i really like the screen display experience#and the fact i can bring it with me on the go without my laptop#i like digital art#but i'll still occasionally switch to traditional art#that's how i deal with art block#i switch something up and just experiment with a different medium for a little while#that gets me out of the perfectionist mindset too#i can't spam the undo button if there's no undo button with pen and paper#the reason why i switched to digital art recently was because i was struggling with sketching with traditional art a little while back#i was designing a new DCA OC with a body type i am not familiar with drawing#and it was just getting frustrating trying to get the body shape right#so i took a break and switched to drawing chibis in digital art so i could give myself a refresh#i eventually was able to design that character#but i did it digitally#i'll share him soon#i haven't really decided on an outfit for him yet

What do you use to draw? Any fancy brushes or apps? Please share 🙏 I love your line work
Firstly, thank you very much! I try my best to make my works looks polished even though I actually don't really do lineart because all my illustrations are painted over lol ;<;
But to answer your main question, I use Clip Studio on an android tablet! I went through a 4 year long art block that was instantly fixed by just being able to draw on my couch kgjfdjkh
As for brushes, I use A LOT of fancy ones, because I kinda got addicted to downloading brushes once I got a tablet.
I have a specific brush I use for sketching, candy marker, though I modified out the color jitter.
The one I've used longest is this brush, TT's Textured Marker, for my lineart. It's also slightly modified from the original.
Coloring is a whole other monster. I use a lot of stuff for shading and rendering.
The Maru brush from this set is the primary one I always use when I'm adding in shading.
For softer shading and blending of colors I use this brush called Penpen.
And this one is a little pricey (as in it actually cost me real world dollars to get since I got it with CSP gold), but I'm absolutely obsessed with this Rustling brush. I've been using it in everything, specifically the translucent one. If you have the ability to get it, either with clippy (which are pretty easy to get tbh, I was just lazy at the time) or gold, it's so fun to use.
Thank you for the ask, and I hope this was informative or helpful ww

I'm sorry if you already answered this but what program do you use for your digital drawings? 👀
I dont mind getting this question since Rebelle is underrated AF 😅 I use it for the watercolor styled artworks.
Let's see I use Concepts and Clip Studio on my Android tablet to sketch and make studies on the go.

new blog post: new tablet!
new blog post on https://mizkit.com/new-tablet/
new tablet!
I made a DECISION about the Android tablet vs a new Surface Pro, which ultimately came down to the question of: do I want to be able to read comics on my new device, or write? Because Android has the Marvel Unlimited app, which Windows does not, but Windows has the Scrivener app, which Android does not.
I decided in favor of reading comics. LOL. Possibly not the world’s best choice, but OTOH, look, the Surface isn’t dead yet, and also, I CAN write in not-Scrivener, I’ve just gotten used to it. So I decided to get a Samsung Galaxy 9 FE+, which is vastly, vastly less expensive than a Pro and also came with a stylus, which I’d have to buy for the Pro. So I got the Samsung, and after some trial and error found a case for it that lets me rotate it to horizontal or vertical (necessary for reading comics easily), and now I am Pleased. Although I do need to find stickers to put on it now.
Literally the first thing I did after setting it up was read the first of Gail Simone’s run on Uncanny X-Men, and I haven’t really read the X-Men for years so I only vaguely knew what was going on, but it still gave me Feels and made me think I’d made the right choice.
The second thing I did was open up Clip Studio and do a doodle, and oh my god, the 8 year difference in stylus sensitivity is insane. Not that it’s magically made me a brilliant artist, but I did a quick, IDK, maybe ten minute version (as opposed to the half hour or so I put in before) of that “realistic human eye” task I had the other day?
The sensitivity makes it WAY WAY WAY more like drawing with a pen or pencil! I did most of this with one setting, and only changed the point size for the pen for the lil bits over at the right corner of the eye and maybe some of the iris, I forget now. But I’m THRILLED at how much more control it offered!!! I’m really looking forward to digital sketching with this!

My cousin's wife is working from home as an ESL teacher (we are in Europe), teaching Chinese students. The pay is good and as far as I've been told, there is a good amount of demand from the Chinese job market for ESL teachers and, while having a degree in linguistics (foreign languages) or teaching is a plus for an applicant, it's not really demanded. You only need to have a good grasp of the English language and preferably have a document/certificate that proves your English level (either TOEFL or IELTS).
Another suggestion I'd give is learning and mastering a programming language if you manage to land a job as an ESL. Decide whether you want to be a front-end developer (basically developing/designing/maintaining the user interface) or a back-end developer (if you want to bother with maintaining the server side of things) and the area you want to focus on. If you go for web development then, considering your experience with HTML, CSS and Javascript, you could go with Node.js or Django/Flask if you want to learn something new for back-end development and go with React.js for front-end development. Otherwise go for mobile apps development using android studio. It's in very high demand, at least in Europe, but you have to be good at it. Create a good portfolio of programming projects which e.g are useful as a solution for a problem you or someone might have encountered in their daily life if you go for app development, or create user-friendly (this is very important) websites.
As for my last advice, is actually creating an account on Linkedin. You'll be able to connect with various professionals and companies throughout the world , gather information for various topics and see job listings for your preferred field of work, but most importantly, it will serve as a boost to the visibility/exposure of your skills or simply as a CV. It will increase your chances of finding a remote job.
A little question: When are you planning to take commissions?
Oh damn. Thank you so much for the advice and the suggestions, anon. I'll put it up for consideration, and see if I'll be able to do that
For the commissions though, I don't have a set date yet, since I'll have to rework what stuff I will and I will not write and up the prices a bit. Thinking $3-$5 with pay how you want from the initial $1 commissions, because needs have changed now. I am planning to take in 3 commissions, since this will be my first time using kofi to take them. I will inform you all when I'll be taking commissions through an announcement post, don't worry!

May Updates – Android Ports & Editing
May was a very hectic month for me personally, so there wasn't much progress made this month - but that doesn't mean there wasn't any!

Asphodelium
In May I was asked a simple question - will there be an Android port for Asphodelium? I almost immediately responded "no, it would need too much reworking", but then I got curious.
I assumed the small size of the text (as the story is completely NVL) would make it too hard to read on mobile, but I went ahead and (after a few Java downloads and updates) made a build for it and tested it out. It's actually quite readable and only needed a few tweaks. So, off and on for a few days I tinkered with a build of it, testing it out on my phone. And I was able to release it!

You can now play this Android build for free on itchio.
To go with it, I also released the stickers & print set I've been working on of Hazel & Aster on the store! Rather than have them be separate, I included them all under 1 pack for $10. You can find them on our merch store~

Canvas Menagerie
I wrote about 4k words for Canvas Menagerie. I also did a fair amount of editing for Act 2 of Canvas Menagerie, proofreading what's there and trying to make sure it all fits together.

There's one somewhat frustrating character in particular that is fully introduced in Act 2 who's named Rose - I won't go into who he is for spoiler reasons, but I will talk a bit about him as a person. Rose is a very secretive person with low self-esteem and not a solid self-image of himself. He's quiet and can come across as rude because of how little he responds to others, preferring to keep to himself.
Rose's sprite, which I was able to work on more this month!
Rose is very important to the later half of the story and a fair amount of it is centered on Niko trying to break Rose out of his shell as they're now coworkers. However, it can be hard for 2 reasons:
Rose isn't a love interest
Rose doesn't respond honestly (and hardly at all) to others
Rose isn't a love interest - Ren is. This is a romance game about Niko and Ren's growing relationship rather than a simulator game where there's multiple love interests. It's surprisingly hard to balance having scenes between two characters that could theoretically date but aren't going to. The overall focus is on Niko and Ren, but Niko and Rose's relationship is also important to the later half of the game - it's just not romantic.
Rose doesn't respond honestly - Rose is a very timid person, mainly because he doesn't have much confidence in himself. Rose is similar to how Niko is at the start of the game, but the interesting thing about their relationship is that by the time they meet, Niko is a different person. He's not overly confident, but the Niko that Rose meets has become more confident in himself and more comfortable with others than the Niko we first met at the beginning of the game - it's only because of meeting Ren that Niko changes. So, in a way, it becomes Niko's job to do the same for someone else.
I swab some lavender paint, hesitating to lay it down on the canvas. Just as I reach over to my phone, there's the sound of one of the doors opening. —And then, the door to my painting nook. Rose "Ah—" Niko "Oh." As probably the last person I thought I'd see, Rose steps in the warehouse room. Just as quickly as he stepped in, he looks like he's about to run off again. Niko "What are you doing here?" Rose "I—" Rose "I got turned around..." How do you get so lost to end up here?! Niko "What were you looking for?" Rose "...The script reading rooms." Wow. I know this studio can be confusing to navigate, but that's a whole new level. Niko "That's....kinda far away...." Niko "W-Wait, I didn't mean to laugh!" Rose tries to hide his face and shut the door, but I quickly reopen it. I'm not good enough at giving directions so he'll definitely be lost if I don't help him. Niko "Do you have to be there immediately?" Rose "...No?" Niko "Well, if you'll give me a minute to clean up then I can walk you down there." Rose "..." Rose "...Sure." He says everything with a careful pause. Canvas Menagerie - Act 2
I call Rose "frustrating" because, while I do like him, I sometimes feel like I'm Niko while writing his scenes - it feels like I'm trying to pull any kind of information out of him with little to no avail, just like Niko. I hope by the end though we're able to see Rose's true colors!
Last but not least, May 31st is a special day - it's Niko's birthday!

But I'm writing this in June a few days late because I was at OffKai Expo so....
HAPPY PRIDE! 💜

Alien: Romulus (2024) review

Mommy!!
Plot: While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonists come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.
No one can dispute that the first two entries in the Alien franchise, directed by Ridley Scott and James Cameron respectively, are fantastic pieces of horror action, and have had a major impact on how we see monsters in science fiction today. That being said, typical to the Hollywood blurt machine of milking every franchise to its limits until its stop making money, Alien has been redone so many times, and for the most part the endless sequels, prequels and spin-offs haven’t ever come close to reaching the heights of the original two installments. But hey ho, Hollywood never learns so here we have yet another chapter in the infamous xenomorph saga, with this one setting itself up as the movie that bridges the gap between the original two films, essentially creating the ultimate Alien trilogy. Coming to us from director Fede Alvarez who brought us the creepy Evil Dead remake and blind-man-fucks-shit-up horror Don’t Breathe, Romulus promises to be a gory and thrilling return to form for the franchise, bringing it back the basics of what made these films so special. As always the question is, does he succeed?
I guess kind of. It seems to be a common theme in 2024 with most films that I have watched having been passable at best. Entertaining enough for what they are but not films that will stand the test of time. Alien: Romulus fits perfectly into that faction. This is a solid studio effort, with great sound design, crisp cinematography and a good blend of CGI and practical effects, and I always respect the use of practical effects so kudos to the film crew for putting that extra effort in. The spirit of franchise’s creator Ridley Scott looms all over each scene, with the opening scene reminiscent of Blade Runner and later sequences imbued in that claustrophobic feel that the first movie did so well. The xenomorph creatures are as terrifying and thrilling as always, but I’d say it’s the dastardly face-huggers that get to shine more in this entry, as there are so so many of them this time with the two of the better set-pieces involving them. Though face-huggers have always been a stand out factor in these films, as there is naturally something unsettling and frightening in the idea of something so small attacking through something so intimate as the human’s mouth. So all the creature stuff was great, however with Alvarez’s involvement I was surprised at how tame this movie was. There is gore for sure, but noting that we haven’t seen before, and in fact at times it felt like they were holding back. Guess Mickey Mouse doesn’t allow much blood in his Playhouse.
The cast do their jobs best they could. Look, we’re not expecting any Academy Awards here, but as always the primary purpose of the characters in these films is to survive as long as they can before getting gruesomely killed off. I do wish the characters were given a bit more depth so that we could care a bit more about them, but aside from Cailee Spaeny who essentially plays Ripley but with daddy issues, no other human characters really leave an impression. David Jonsson is the one that provides the real star-making performance as the synthetic android who suffers with elements of autism, as he has to showcase a lot of emotion whilst still coming off robotic enough to fit his characters origins. He gets to do a lot in this movie and all I can say is that kid is going places.
I was never bored during my viewing of Alien: Romulus, but it very much panders to the nostalgia factor of the previous films, by literally copying and rehashing certain scenes and ideas, and even having certain callbacks to service the fans. You can also tell that Disney has now taken over the reigns, as similar to their treatment of Star Wars, this movie brings back a certain character from a previous installment through the magic of visual effects, since the actor that played that character had since passed, except there is no magic as the facial likeness is so jarring and dodgy. It felt really off, and again I’m sure the actor’s estate/family must have given their permission for using their likeness, but there is the moral ambiguity of is something like this should happen or not. But regardless of should they or shouldn’t they have, technology evidently is still not at that level to realistically replicate certain individuals’ expressions and mannerism, so in this movie it doesn’t work at all. The movie also utilises certain themes from Prometheus and Covenant, which I was fine with as it was nice seeing those films finally being connected with the primary storyline, but then the movie also references Alien: Resurrection. Yep, arguably the worst of the franchise, that entry is the inspiration for the final 20 minutes of Romulus. People will either love it or hate it.
It’s simple - if you enjoyed any of the Alien films you’ll have a solid time with Romulus, however it does not in any way reinvent the wheel, and in fact accepts the fact that it will always live in the shadows of its predecessors. Solid thrills and action scenes, and though it’s not that scary, the xenomorph design is as impressive as ever. But boy that Resurrection reference….oh boy.
Overall score: 6/10

I think Dolly Parton is a brilliant singer songwriter and performer. She made her way in a music scene and a society that didn't respect women. But I don't like the way Dolly Parton runs Dollywood and her lack of political action (unless we find out she donates to actual leftists or runs an abortion underground railroad or something) . And I really can't stand "Dolly Parton" the persona, the huge hearted giver of folksy poverty advice that appears on TV. I love her work but totally cringe when she's called to play a magical whimsical godmother to all. I don't wish to harsh anyone's mellow about her, she's played delightful characters, she's a hard-working career woman who doesn't use her public.
I know It's not fair to hold her to higher standards to any other artists and yet. Dolly playing everyone's best friend and ally "Dolly" gets on my nerves. It usually involves some anecdotes about how she grew up dirt poor and that makes people have to be creative and resilient. Yeah and some don't make it and you could make sure your employees never have to feel the cold and rrrrrgh. Irrational annoyance not even at the woman herself but the weird pedestal society put her on.
So seeing her as a revered icon in a sci fi about the future was jarring. On one hand, she's tacitly taking a political position for trans and gender identity rights IRL by appearing in this episode which is huge. Dollywood probably won't have pro trans policies but as a quiet declaration, it's still not nothing.
On the other hand, in the story, her advice was as about as good as a fortune cookie saying "trust your heart" or "take one step then think about the next" and not very respectful of the fact she was dealing with a woman fighting for her people's lives against a violent state facing a complex ethical dilemma: one life for many. I really don't think that's the time to talk about your momma's can-do attitude. It's time to say "that sucks, that's an awful position to be in. would you like someone to bounce your options and potential moves off until you can see more clearly?" or even "that's rough honey, can I give you a song and a hug?"
IDK it was a complicated episode. Lots of issues to unpack: we fought for this teen's agency to get surgery for herself but now the teen's agency to join an activist group for her people against her repressive nation is in question? The father who lost sight of the mission and potentially endangered his daughter due to a need for vengeance. The diplomatic channels that were presented as the 'right thing' when they've been comfortable with human rights abuses before, it was just setting up these women to be failed by state apparatus. And they would have been if it wasn't for the last minute miracle evidence beyond evidence even though there was already plenty of evidence.
It's a good episode if I'm still thinking about it later, very good if I'm poking holes in the story writing.
The Orville new horizons has become quite the excellent sci-fi. I really hope McFarlane has enough dirt on studio execs to get another season made. Committing to the android staying aromantic was bold. Tackling the trans hot topic via intersex issues was bold. They even pulled a "Tuvix" ethical right that sure felt wrong with the time travel episode.
Now if Dolly could set the terms for the conglomerate that runs Dollywood and demand the right to unionize, living wages, healthcare and full anti discrimination policies regardless of what Tennessee laws may be passed, I'll open a shrine to Dolly Parton. Tacit just isn’t enough when your former poverty and status as gay icon is going to be part of your identity and selling points. I do hope she made bank on that vaccine though, excellent investment.

🙋🏾♂️ and 😭 for the ask game
Okay the little guy is favorite OC. This is weird to answer. I want to say that my favorite OC is Scott Skylark Kaufner from the Songbird Elegies, but when I say that I actually mean that my favorite is his predecessor Howard Kadlec from Yellow Mustang, my first non-NaNoWriMo project that I finished when I was maybe 17.
They have a lot in common. Big Good Boy Vibes, though Scott is considerably more developed (which is kind of the point, since Howard is from a first draft that never got finished after his writer killed herself) and much older. Howard doesn't feel like a fully fledged person in the way Scott does, but I'm very attached to him. He's a romantic and an optimist, my first asexual protagonist, and holds a lot of qualities that Scott manifests now.
I'd like to think that if they met they'd be fast friends. Then Scott would try and get Howard to say "fuck" and Howard would panic - because, once again, Good Boy.
Also I technically got that Saddest Thing I've Written question already, but I'd be able to answer it, like, seven more times before I ran out of answers. Uh in Bloodletting, my sci-fi horror romance where drugs have turned certain human blood into an intoxicant, the main character's drug dealer is introduced as a guy who's in a relationship with the smart house he broke into. It's really cute and funny at first (The main character Rainer is also in a relationship with an android that she saved after being fired), but at one point Rainer finds out that her drug dealer friend had overdosed.
The house hacks into her phone and tells her that he kept trying to leave and the house wouldn't let him. The drug dealer begged the house that he didn't want it to see him like that. Now he was "sleeping", and the house was dedicating energy to making sure that the floor stays nice and warm for its lover.
Rainer realizes what's happening. Her friend only lives about an hour out of San Francisco, maybe less. She could drive there and make it - only one thing.
She's severely agoraphobic and hasn't left the house in years.
So she paces the stage of her studio apartment while the smart house explains that it's turning the heat higher and higher and dedicating more and more energy. It doesn't have much left but it doesn't want its lover to be cold. He can't be cold and alone. And, suddenly enraged by her own helplessness, Rainer starts tearing apart her apartment.
Eventually her own lover Edna enters. She explains she has spotted smoke coming from the mountains where the smart house is. By now its voice on the phone goes silent. Rainer falls to her knees and weeps for a long, ugly time.
I am really proud of this scene and I'm kind of bummed I have no fucking clue where the script is. Maybe I'll reuse it for something. Robot deaths hit me hard, though.

Metallic Rouge Episode 1 Review - Cyberpunk Mecha On Mars
I apologize for getting this review out super late. It’s just that I had watch it twice for me to understand what was going on. I think I got a good grasp of the story for me to write a review now. I hope you enjoy! Also, please tell me if there are any instances where I misspell ‘Rouge’ as ‘Rogue’.
Metallic Rouge is an original work created by Studio Bones as an anniversary title—they’re celebrating their 25th anniversary! It’s a mix of mecha, cyberpunk, action and buddy-cop from what I’ve seen in the first episode alone. This all takes place on fictional, cyberpunk Mars. I’m not too exactly sure what the general story is, but from what I’ve seen, it’s about these two agents tracking down people called the Immortal Nine. Our main duo is Rouge, the brawn of the operation, and Naomi, the brains and eyes.
Rouge is a Nean. Neans are android-like beings that function on Nectars. They’re used as servants, basically and they’ve got little rights due to them being “tools” and not “people”. Like I said, Neans function on Nectars. They have to inject them into a specific hole (get your head out of the gutter) in their body and then their body will have a glowing marking. Some Neans have the ability to transform into mecha-like beings called Gladiators. Rouge, like her namesake (French for red), can change into a red Gladiator. Other characters who can do this is Viola, who transforms into a violet mecha (Viola is Italian for violet), and Giallo, who transforms into a yellow mecha (Giallo is Italian for yellow). Viola is a member of the Immortal Nine, which probably means they’re a special type of Neans—since there are nine of them, all their names must be associated with colors in Italian. Neans probably don’t need to eat as Rouge only eats chocolate and nothing else.
Naomi is a human. She’s like a reporter in a sense? She uses various mechanisms to record and gather information like her mechanical bird and her glasses that can record. Since’s not a fighter, so she supports Rouge from the back as her brains and eyes. She’s a glutton as she eats a lot. She’s the one giving out information on her enemies and such. To be honest, I actually really like Naomi’s design. I have a thing for ponytails, so her design is an instant 10/10 for me.
I think what’s interesting is that these two work together, but they don’t even know each other. The part where they meet is the first time they met up. I do hope this gets addressed later on. Where do they work? Who do they work for? Why are they paired up together? Those are the questions I mainly have as well as wondering why they search for the Immortal Nine.
Because this is a Studio Bones’ anime adaptation, the animation is amazing. I can’t say anything bad about it. It looks great. The designs look great. The movement looks great. Everything looks great. The soundtrack is great too. The voice actors really did a great job. Rouge is voiced by Yume Miyamoto. This is the first time I’m hearing her voice, but I think she did a great job with making Rouge sound innocent given she’s a young Nean. Tomoyo Kurosawa voices Naomi. I know she voices Mitsumi Iwakura from Skip and Loafer; this is the first time I’ve seen her voice an adult. It sort of works as she does the boisterous act well. Though, I have to say that Hiroyuki Yoshino does a great job with Giallo. You might know him as Frankie from Spy x Family, but he does a great job with villains; some villains he played were Kimblee from Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and Uragami from Parasyte. There’s also a simulcast dub for this show. Monica Flatley and Cassie Ewulu voice the main duo, but let me talk about Giallo’s ENG VA, Landon McDonald. Why does his name pop up in some of the animes I’ve reviewed? He was in Buddy Daddies, Ayaka, My Love Story With Yamada At Lv. 999 and now Metallic Rouge. He’s a great voice actor, but it’s crazy how he keeps popping up in shows I review or have reviewed. I bet you he’ll pop up in a Spring Anime simuldub in April. I can feel it…
Will I watch more of Metallic Rouge? Yes. I do want to see what’s going on with the story. Anime originals are always interesting to watch because they don’t have a source material, meaning everyone who watches this is going in blind. I’m ready to get crushed. What are your thoughts on this show’s premiere?

Hi! for the ama, what art program do you use? what's your main inspo when it comes down to art?
Oo, that is a very good question!
To answer this question, first, you to know what I use to draw on (aside from paper lol). I use a Samsung tablet for my art, so I'm limited to using free apps.
For my art, I usually use a mix of two apps:
. HiPaint
Hi paint has added in adds. It does suck that they did that, but I mean, gotta pay them bills lol. Anyway, once you get drawing, it's by far one of the best art apps out there imo.
. Sketchbook
Sketchbook is, like, the best app I have ever used. It has a premium version for $4. $4. THAT'S SO FUCKING CHEAP AND IT COMES WITH A LOT. Granted, you don't have to go premium- I am using the basic version, but it is on my wish list lol. Granted, the free version is very basic, but in its simplicity, it has created perfection, imo.
Now, you may be wondering why I keep saying 'in my opinion'. Well, art is about the feel. These 2 apps may feel a bit weird to you, so it's really up to personal preference.
If you're willing to pay some coin, Clip Studio Paint most certainly exists. When I tried it, it wasn't amazing, but I believe they've fixed that lol.
There's also ibis Paint. Again, it's not for everyone, but if it suits you, that's what matters.
I know that there should be a few more out there, I just can't think of any lol.
Now, if you're on Apple, you should have a pre-installed app called Procreate. Procreate is an amazing app from what I can tell. But if you're on an Android device (like me), these are just a few different apps you can try out.
Hope this helps and thanks for asking :D

Now I’m sure I’m not the only one to notice this, but I just noticed something about Carls paintings in DBH.
In a wave of nostalgia I decided to rewatch Jacksepticeye’s play through of the game for the first in a good few years, and I noticed that in the first video in markus’s POV most of the paintings— if not all— in Carls studio were made with nothing but blue paint. Why is this significant? Well let me give you a little bit of art history…
A well known name, both in and out of the art world is Pablo Picasso. During his artist career, he had something that people titled a “Blue Period,” which referred to a period of time where he would paint almost exclusively in the colour blue. As many know, the colour blue is associated with sadness, and so the blue represented the famous artists depression.
Now it’s not hard to see that DBH involves a LOT of symbolism, so who’s to say that this colour choice isn’t symbolic of Carls sadness? I mean, he’s got a lot to be sad about. His biological son’s addicted to narcotics, his health is declining, and even before the android revolution everything was already going to hell for the people between rising tensions, another world war being considered on the verge of breaking out, drugs running rampant and unemployment at a all time high. Makes you question what there is to even be happy about, really.
Maybe this means nothing, but I think it’d be a truly interesting detail if it were to be intentional. Well, I suppose that’s just my take of the thing, thank you for reading!
