taz steeplechase is so incredible as a setting. it's a disney dystopian sovereign state/tower of babel thing that's been standing for more than a generation. it's been there for so long that there's a ton of old defunct animatronics robots abandoned here and there and they're all super creepy.

Even the employees are so taken in by the allure of the park that they spend their whole paychecks to have fun in the park on their free time. There's a whole layer dedicated to nostalgia.

When they realized that too many kids had been abandoned by their parents in the daycare park, they just bricked up the whole thing with the kids still inside and used it as a garbage dump/prison colony, so that there's just this Mad Max-esque post-apocalyptic world with very real stakes within Disneyland where old animatronics try to kill you

i worked from when I was 15 - 30 before being too sick and disabled to work. i fucking contributed as much as i could. they can all fuck off.

Hiatus?

For people waiting for updates on Woe of Wrath, Of Faith and Choices, and I Might Consider Kissing You (If You Weren’t So Ugly), I am hospitalized at the moment to investigate over cardiac issues. I will be stuck here for at least a week. It can go two ways: either I will be bored to death and write thousands of words, or I will be super tired and incapable of focusing. I can’t tell right now, I’ll just follow the days and see how it goes.

It’s also valid for reading and commenting on other people’s fics and posts: I might read like Speedy Gonzales or shut my brain down for days. It’s not disinterest, please don’t be mad if I can’t follow up. I will catch up at some point: I hate to see my to-read pile grow…

I really, really love the song Two Minutes by TAD, but I always try hard to avoid it because of personal triggers.

And now, while I'm working, it's on my playlist at random.

And, damn.

I went back to eight years ago, when I was forced to leave the man I loved with all my heart (and he loved me), but we tortured each other almost to death.

And so, mentally, I'm standing in this stupid autumn park again, where we loved to walk so much, in the middle of the night, and he shouts at me with tears in his eyes literally the phrase "if I'm good, will you come back?".

I'm shaking, but I think the abscess has opened up and I even feel better.

It turned out to be very therapeutic.

Its crazy that I used to be like an athletic guy, and now stuff like this happens to me on a regular basis.

One time as a teenager I volunteered as a clown because I knew how to juggle, and I got help from a local couple who were professional clowns with makeup etc., and they made me learn the Clowning Code. I don’t remember most of it, but the one I do remember was that I could never drink in front of children. Fast forward to the event I was doing, I’d been in this heavy clown garb and makeup juggling and doing other physical acts and I was sweaty and extremely thirsty, so I found a drinking fountain in the building that was out of the way. But then I heard a kid coming, so I jumped back from the fountain and turned around and, in a manner I now realize probably seemed creepy, just stood still and watched as he passed until he was out of sight so I could go back to hydrating myself. It wasn’t until much, much later that I realized the rule about not drinking in front of children probably meant not drinking ALCOHOL, but I was and am a very literal person so I thought it meant I couldn’t drink anything, even water.

An anecdote.

When I was 13, on Christmas morning, one of my cousins decided that we shoud play D&D, he had been working on a quest for us, it was ready. It wasn't really my thing, so I managed to create the worst possible character, hoping I would die quickly. I ended up with a very high level of charisma and terrible scores in strenght, dexterity and all the other skills I can't name. Perfect to be killed on the first fight.

So we started the game. After a few minutes we faced a monster. I don't remember what it was. A cousin of mine attacked and lost. Another one tried and lost too, the monster was too strong.

And then, little me asked "Can I flirt with him? I've got tons of charisma!" My donjon master cousin gave me a weird look, you know, the look of an eleven years old boy totally disgusted by girls. He rolled the dices. And then he said with a flat voice "Well, it seems you now have a monster boyfriend." The game ended at that point; I had completely screwed his quest and no one wanted to play anymore.

My parents, uncles and aunts all thought it was hilarious. No one knew the expression monsterfucker back then...

Came down with a sinus infection after New Year's. Had been dealing with a residual cough until today. The previous strain caused me to slip a rib. I am now officially an old man.

Last night I just went out to the store and slipped so badly on the ice that I think I broke my leg. I'll go to the doctor tomorrow. And today I move around, jumping around the house on the other leg with tears in my eyes.
