Rift Universe Fruits

1. Chabba Fruit- Sun shaped sour fruit used for lemonade equivalents.  The swirl on the front tastes like cinnamon and is used as a baking ingredient.  

2.  Disapear Fruit- A fruit that tastes like a cross between an apple and a pear.  It disappears when it feels threatened.

3. Gem Fruit- A fruit with delicious flesh that can be eaten without peeling.  Seeds are poisonous.

4. Pie-Pie Fruit- Poisonous and bitter tasting medicinal fruit.  Once refined it can be used to ease indigestion.

5. Frostdrop Fruit-  Fruit that can only be eaten when frozen, lest it melt and become a horrid gooey texture.

6. Grabba Fruit-  Used in stews, a hearty ingredient.  Hallow center, thick but sharp outer spines.

7. Cabso Fruit- A fishy smelling fruit with a sweet cherry flavored center.  The flesh around the center is inedible.

8. Tabua Fruit- Fruit that tastes awful in its base state.  The unpleasant inside is dried and refined into a dust which is used as a spice.

9. Soogar Fruit- Fruit just filled with a sweet syrup.  Is refined into sugar.

10. Myo Fruit- A fruit that has the consistency and taste of raw mammal meat.  Must be cooked to achieve peak flavor.

11. Angel Fruit- A juicy and minty fruit that grows where it snows.  Can be eaten raw or put in a salad.

12. Foya Fruit- A fruit as juicy as an orange and as spicy as a chili pepper.  Great ingredient in hotsauce.

13. Olda Dona Fruit- A Dona fruit that's far too ripe, do not eat this.

14. Bagbang Fruit- Non edible fruit. Seeds are crushed and used as gunpowder.

15. Purpur Fruit- Fruit filled with fresh, sweet water.  Essential on planets with no source of fresh water.

16. Sako Fruit- Fruit shaped like a fish that actually tastes like Gushers.

17.  Cinnakinna- Only perfect for eating when it begins to drip frosting-like syrup.  Any other time it's mediocre.

18. Hottaddi Fruit- Fruit that, when boiled, can be opened and poured out to reveal a hot, sweet drink.

19.  Nuba Dona Fruit- A perfect Dona fruit, tastes like a frosted donut.

20. Shybell Fruit- Translucent fruit with a milky juice within.  Easy to digest and a common ingredient in teas.

Rift Universe Meats

1. Dragon Roast, tough, pressure cook it.

2. Trotters, Meatsaur.  Meatsaur's are alien dinosaurs genetically altered to be ideal food.  

3. Liver, Meatsaur liver

4. Bunbun Kidneys, a toxin/poison neutralizing organ.  Soaked 72hrs before cooking renders it edible.  But why would you eat in the first place, that's gross, they're people.

5. Angel wings, small, sold in pairs.

6. The leg and foot of an unnamed mining species.  Not recognized as a planet with intelligent life, they're free game.

7. Angel leg, fine meats in the Inferno.  Technically illegal but lol you gonna say no to a demon?

8. Demon leg, fine meats in the Inferno.  Yeah them demons be fucky.

9. Entire Side, is fuckin big, animal has pretty patterns on their meat cause they skin is see through.  They live on the cold,  dark portion of Planet Rift.

10. Drumstick, Demon again, but this is pretty big and is usually fried specifically.

11. American-Style Roast, made of the native species of planet Rift, Moomkeys.  No one is safe.

12. Kallopian leg.  They lil predatory horses, but intelligent.  Everyone is food.

13. Tomahawk Steak, a fuckin frog thing, nothing special about them other than they hail from Kallop like the Kallopians.

14. Kabab chunks, angel.

15. Bunbun loin, falls apart when overcooked.

16. Ghost Filet, super hard to get so expensive.  Like not even sold to financially underwhelming people.  Tastes like fish.

17. T-Bone, unnamed slum animal.  Common meat eaten by the people at the Base of Rift City's buildings.  Tastes like 'gator.

18. Trotters, human hands.  We are all meat.

19. Angel Wing, large, sold individually.

20. Meatsaur Tongue, eaten by higher class Rift residents.

21. Meatsaur strips, for your fussy lil baby who demands tendies.

22. Demon Bacon, tastes like sin. 

23. Macro Ham, made from different cuts of Macros, giant insects, all glued together.  Presented as cold cuts.

26. Dragon Neck, enjoyed by older Rift generations.  Not very good really but it's TRADITION.

27. Ribs, unnamed giant bird found on rift.  Kinda cruel to eat this considering the birds are peaceful.

28. Sard Tail, like eating a fucking fetus you monster.  Sards reproduce by budding, dropping their tail end so it can reform into a new Sard.  You're awful for eating this.

Rift Universe Plants

1. Sky Bush, a bush that floats through the air.  Good luck to spot one.

2. Mercy Belles, flower named after an act performed in Rift's history.  A pair of frighten sisters offered these flower to a Rift colonizer as they begged for their life.  They were not spared.  Bad luck to give one to someone you like.

3. Coro Tree, secretes a sap that eats away at the tree itself.  

4. Peaktre Tree, small tree often trimmed into shapes.  Sprouts flowers on the leafy portion a translucent reflective dangly flowers below.

5. Hoverleaf bush, remarkable due to the fact that the leaves float, but is otherwise poisonous.

6. Devil's Tail stalk, secretes a tasty yet often throat-closing sap.

7. Brealla, tall stalks of harmless plant that can be used a defense against Rift's acid rain.

8. Marsh Mall, mushroom that tastes like chocolate and gets you high as fuck.  Dangerous in high doses.

P. Fliver, mobil plant native to Kallop.

10. Relp Cabbage, loved by herbivores of Rift.

11. Triproot, root-system that relies on its preytripping and falling into it's tendrils.

12. Speaksies, aka Screamers.  Replays what it hears to excess when a living thing nears it.  Fields of these flowers are  completely devoid of any life with a heartbeat.

13.  Scarebros, also found in fields but uses a humanoid figure to deter other humanoids from nearing it's flower.  Grows  better in well cared-for farms, humanoid figure can be harvested as farm-animal feed.

14. Orbit Berries, tastey!  Picks up small objects and flings them at enemies.

15. Space Rose, the first flower found by human astronauts.  Not really a flower, it's a demon below the planet they were on.

16. Garlands, leaves that grow from a mold found only on ceilings.

Want to talk about how Violette designed the arm? I remember in her creation that she designed her own arm, how has the design changed as your art style/the character has grown or changed? (If you have examples to show that would be really cool)

Unfortunately, I believe I'm retconning that she personally designed the arm now that I have a stronger feel for her character (though she would definitely tinker with and modify it), but I can show you a little bit of a design history with it!

Starting at humble beginnings, we have the first rendition of the arm (and Violette's first full digital render), back when I had no idea how prosthetics worked. It was basically just a metal arm. Also, strangely, there's like wires running through the upper arm? I'm kinda unsure of my thought process there

Pretty much right after this, I started nailing in the more core look for the arm (still with a pretty through lack of understanding for how that all works). There was finally a point from where the arm could actually articulate. There was like a stopper piece at the elbow for some reason, the wrist is thick, it certainly wasn't what I was gonna stick with (though, the tapering more organic looking shape would make a return)

Now, we have my first attempt at understanding how prosthetics work (and not doing the best at that). I enjoy the "with epic sci-fi bioengineering" note. The disc things on the socket still don't have an explanation.

The discs went away for like 3 drawings, and we got a zoom in on some finger articulation concepts that never stuck, but they did birth the knuckle plates, which get their full debut in the next image. This also refined the ball pivot system I still use for the wrist articulation.

Here's a render I took a few days on (Jeez, she was stupid buff). It features the original arm shape, but now with the added socket and disc things, along with the knuckle plating to hide the articulating joints. This is getting pretty close to where we are today, actually!

Here's the biggest breakthrough, though! I finally actually took the time to learn how this works (and could now probably infodump a little about prosthetics)! I also delegated the myo-electric sensors to those discs on the side of the socket for a nice little taste of sci-fi flavor.

Which leads us to our current look! The design has been pretty thoroughly simplified, but it keeps in mind all of the stuff I learned getting here!

It's actually kind of impressive just how much of a trip this arm alone has been on!

Design Shitting: Random Flushing Edition

Alright, yesterday was pretty heavy, so let’s try some good ol’ fashioned design shitting, eh?

Today we will be shitting on multiple different designs. Same rules, just a tasty little sampler to cleanse the palette for the week.

why it got the little gary sea snail shell on its back too. colors just don’t change into each other well, especially on the tail. the amount of the black/white stripes on every little thing is fighting the other colors for what your eyes look at.

I like how Jolleraptors are trying to spread their wings a bit and make something other than hyper-chibi money wasters, but this is $600 for something that’s barely got a face and twinkle toes. Someone paid $600 for this mess. I know CCCats don’t have faces, but they do have heads with a mouth, and this design makes it hard to find the mouth. Species Ratings: GremCorps

(A little tired today, but this is the only time I'm going to have enough time to write this for the next month or two, so here we go.)

Any warnings?: Some Cypherus Grems and the occasional mutation bomb Grem can incorporate body horror elements, but you'll see so few of them that it shouldn't be an issue.

Rating scale: score out of 10, based on the community, pricing, quality of adopts, accessibility, lore, events, and staff

GREMCORPS

Community

The GremCorps community server is quite dead a lot of the time. Some of the non-species related channels still have activity, but for the most part, people either lurk for Discord-exclusive sales or keep to their cliques.

When you can get people to talk to you, they're friendly, even funny. There's an uneasy feeling sometimes in the server because moderation isn't always consistent and waves of drama have rocked the species in the past year or so.

When things are going well in the community, the Discord can be very fun, but with an uneasy undertone. People walk on eggshells around the staff. The Grem art train is the best part of the entire server.

RATING: 5/10. It's hard to give a deeper analysis on the GremCorps community because everyone is afraid to do or say something wrong and invoke the wrath of the staff.

Pricing

The base price for a standard Grem (one with no mutations, magic powers, etc) is $300. There are sometimes cheaper or more expensive sales of standard Grems. Mutant Grems are only a bit more expensive unless they're mutation bombs, which go closer to $600. Snows and Mantas cost $400 - $600. Cypherus are usually $800.

Customs are not available in GremCorps after an incident where Densy allowed a bidder to bid $20,000 for a Cypherus custom and things went downhill from there. The group usually doesn't offer anything for free, but it does happen sometimes.

RATING: 6/10. The pricing isn't too bad for what you get. In fact, it's pretty standard compared to other popular species and popular adoptable artists.

Quality of Adopts

The quality is all over the place, but in the past two or three years has seen an overall decline. Even some of the very expensive Mantas, Snows, and Cypherus feel dialed-in. Out of them all, however, it's Mantas and Cypherus that get the most love.

Mamamii's designs are infamous for how bad they are. She desperately needs a character design class.

Sarspax, if you look deeper in his DA gallery, is a talented artist, so the slap-dash, lazy Grems he makes are even more insulting.

Densy herself is not the greatest designer, but her work trends on the higher end of quality.

ToothlessEgo's adopts often look unfinished because of the painterly style. A painterly style requires a heavier touch for rendering just by the nature of it.

TornTethers and Charingo are the best designers, in my opinion, though TT's designs are beginning to feel very chunky and same-y while Charingo's come off as flat.

Guest designers are rare and are usually better than the staff.

Rating: 3/10 for dialed-in, lazy, expensive adopts. Even worse, the redesign guidelines are incredibly strict. You could spend months trying to hammer your Grem into a decent state.

Accessibility

If you're happy with only standard Grems and are easy to please design-wise, you can get at least one Grem very quickly. People are often vouchering them for cheaper than the purchase price. The same is mostly true for Snow Grems.

A small number of MYOs are raffled off on a regular basis. They are not free. Manta, Snow, and Mutation MYOs are more rare.

If you want a Mantagrem, certain mutation Grems, mutation bombs, or Cypherus, plan on waiting. And waiting. And waiting. Cypherus and mutation bombs are the worst of all. Only a handful come out every year around Halloween.

One user named Digimitsu is allowed to hoard a huge percentage of the Cypherus and mutation bombs. He's all but a confirmed botter and the staff doesn't care because Digitmitsu is a long-time member in Densy's pocket. See here: csscreenshots tumblr com(/)search(/)digimitsu.

He's also been suspected of sock-puppeting but this was never 100% confirmed. If you've been in the Grem group for awhile, though? You know.

What this means is your chances are very low for a Cypherus or mutation bomb. You're competing with a (to be fair, dwindling) number of people who want the same thing, and at least one of them bots.

Customs are unlikely to return, or if they do, they will be hard to get.

The upcoming ARPG doesn't look promising for accessibility. Out of fear of "devaluing" her species, Densy doesn't like to give much for free.

RATING: 7/10 if you only consider standard Grems, 2/10 if you consider all the rest. Certain aspects of GremCorps ensure that the most tantalizing fruit is out of reach.

Lore

There's a minimum of lore. The core of Grems is they are genetically-engineered companions who are an offshoot of a more ancient character. This brings up uncomfortable questions about slavery and eugenics that get glossed over.

Cypherus have even less lore than standard Grem2. There's a requirement to have them "exist for a reason"--so staff create their own lore around their Cypherus designs. The lore is not integrated into canon for the most part with last Halloween's Cyphers being an exception.

There are also fighter Grems, which are Grems who have cropped ears and docked tails (these are restricted traits in Grems, by the way). They're kidnapped and forced to fight in pits. No fighter Grem adopts have come out in ages.

There are also a smattering of witch Grems and a total of two Stave Grems. Neither have much in the way of lore.

Finally, the Grem world, Palleth, does have pet creatures and other type of fauna. These almost never feature in anything. I'd wager most people don't even remember them off the top of their head.

Events have little effect on the lore or how it develops outside of Cypherus season. As with Skire, most of the up-to-date information is in the FAQ. Answers to questions don't sound like they come from someone with a vision.

RATING: 2/10. There's so little of it! Grems have been around for so long that if Densy had spent 30 minutes a week coming up with ideas, she'd have enough for a novel.

Events

Events are the standard once-a-month'er seen in every other species. The prompts are lackluster and see middling participation. It's rare to have an engaging event. The only reason to participate is for the raffle.

The only exciting event comes in the month of Halloween, when the next batch of Cypherus Grems are released.

Rating: 2/10. Low effort and quality even by popular species standards.

Staff

The staff are horrendous. They're thin-skinned and what community they haven't driven away, they've put on eggshells. Here's a recent example of them shutting down a reasonable request for regular updates on a game their users have been paying into for years: csscreenshots(.)tumblr(.)com(/)post(/)690156967584481280(/)689704744394096640tfw-the-grem-admins-take-a-sugg. Note how hostile the staff is and how the members obviously become more and more uneasy as the conversation continues.

Questions in FAQ (including requests for time-sensitive vouchers) can sit for hours, or not be answered at all. Users popular with the staff (ex: Twinsharks) get a quick response, however. Answers are often blunt to the point of coming off as rude or cold.

Moderation is inconsistent. The word "milf" is banned but it took forever to get a rule in place so people would stop talking about "big man tiddies" in a borderline-graphic manner.

Talking about accessibility is risky because it falls under the "don't complain if you can't get a Grem" rule. Bringing up the 20K situation is, of course, an insta-ban. Criticism at all is a risk. At best, suggestions are politely ignored with a thumbs down in the suggestions channel. At worst, you get something like the screenshots linked above.

Every time I've talked to almost anyone on staff, I've left feeling uneasy. Mamamii is an exception to this. While she may not be a skilled artist, she can at least be somewhat friendly. 

You get the impression everybody is worn out, but the money is still good enough, apparently.

Rating: 2/10. Aside from thin-skinned, the staff can be described as toxic, disinterested, cold, and, at times, rude. Their response to requests for updates is downright abusive.

Densy herself has a bad reputation for being money-hungry, rude, cold, and mean. You can see it yourself when she responds to someone or something she's not fond of, though I think "mean" is a little far.

You can see how the staff favor the "populars" in FAQ and how they let Digimitsu continue to hoard despite the community being desperate for access themselves. The only server I've been more uncomfortable in is the Scarfox server. 

FINAL RATING: 4/10. A below-average species whose time in the sun is over due to staff behavior, low accessibility, and boring events. You can do better, and, frankly, deserve better. Grems used to be very fun and were my first species, so it's sad to see them like this.

Not to shoot down the public WIP channel idea, but I don't think it'd work with how design approvals currently are since Luca is the one who ultimately goes through each MYO in the end which would mean that Luca himself would have to go through each design publicly in said channel to approve or reject. I know Yves does explain in private tickets whether something would pass or be rejected, but in the end, it's Luca who has the final say and a lot of designs are case by case scenario which is why I recommend the private ticket system. I've had a couple designs rejected here and there, but nobody was ever passive aggressive or rude to me. You just need to be comfortable with being able to accept (usually minor) edits. I do think the ML inconsistency is annoying and imperfect, but if you're never sure about something, read each drink trait in detail and submit a WIP check via the private ticket system with a clean sketch before you get too deep into rendering to save you time and energy.

My Three Symbols.

This post will briefly explain the three symbols I'm planning on using to build the relic.

The Tree of Life:

The Tree of Life is an ancient symbol. It’s usually rendered as a large tree with deep roots and branches that reach all the way up to the sky. The roots connect to the earth and the physical world, while the branches connect to the heavens and the spiritual realm.

The Tree symbolises growth, strength, and interconnectedness, showing that everything in the universe is united. In some cultures, the Tree of Life is associated with creation myths, and may even serve as the focal point and source of all life. Elsewhere, it’s a sign of fertility, regeneration, and abundance.

It’s also used to represent healing and balance in the body, mind, and spirit, and to mirror the transformative process of growth and evolution that occurs throughout our lives.

The Dharma Wheel:

The Dharma Wheel has 8 spokes that represent the Eightfold Path - right understanding, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration. These 8 aspects are considered to be necessities on the path to reaching enlightenment and ending the cycle of suffering.

The hub of the wheel represents the discipline that’s needed to achieve this goal. The rim represents the perfection of wisdom (which is the ultimate goal of the Buddhist path). The wheel's circular shape completes its meaning by representing the cyclical nature of existence and the continuous flow of change and rebirth.

The Dharma Wheel is a symbol of the Buddhist path and is often used in meditation and spiritual practices to help practitioners focus. It’s also a popular inclusion in Buddhist art and is common within Buddhist countries like Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.

Reiki Symbols:

Reiki symbols are a set of sacred symbols used in the practice of Reiki, a form of energy healing that originated in Japan. These symbols are used by Reiki practitioners to help focus and direct energy during a healing session.

Each Reiki symbol is a visual representation of a specific energy frequency, and the practitioner uses it as a way to connect with and channel that energy for healing purposes. The symbols are typically drawn or visualised during a Reiki session, and their use can help enhance the healing power.

Cho Ku Rei: The power symbol. It’s used to increase the power of Reiki, but it also provides protection, grounding, and has the ability to clear energy blockages.

Sei Hei Ki: The mental/emotional symbol. It’s used to heal emotional and mental problems like anxiety, depression, and addiction.

Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen: The distance symbol. It’s used to send Reiki energy to someone who’s not physically present or to connect with past or future events.

Dai Ko Myo: The master symbol. It’s used to activate the highest level of Reiki energy, and is integral for attunements and to connect with the spiritual realm.

Raku: The completion symbol. It’s used to ground and settle the body at the end of treatment, sealing all that positive energy inside.
