I’m going to stop you right there….

That’s the problem with an invisible illness, everyone thinks you’re a spring chicken that can run a 3-minute mile, when the harsh reality of it is...

I’m 26 and my mind & body are failing me at an alarming rate.

I’ve wanted to write about this for a while now, but I’ve never been able to find the words to explain something even I don’t really understand.

Not many people in my life know that I’ve been dealing with a Chronic Illness for about 11 years, I mean I’ve only really known about it for the past 4/5 years as it’s become more prominent and I’ve started to realise that something isn’t right and so I asked more questions.

This is not really something I’ve spoken about openly, not even to my family, because I don’t want to seem ‘dramatic’ or ‘difficult’ or as a doctor once told me ‘over exaggerating’  But truth be told I don’t want anyone to think of me as less of a person.

 I’ve always lived a fairly active lifestyle, from jumping down the stairs as a kid (ask my mum), playing football in the back garden with my older brother, playing football at secondary school, playing volleyball and representing my county once, to going to the gym 5 days a week, to riding and racing mountain bikes a few years back (before an accident, another story for another time) to then returning back to the bike to raise money for charity, to running 5k races and back to the gym with training.

↓ I went on to win 2nd place in said race. 

(Honestly one of the best moments in my life.) 

So why am I typing this to you all whilst laying in bed not having been able to move without excruciating pain and fatigue for the past two days?

 Well…. I guess it’s time I let the cat out the bag.

#flashbackfriday❤️ I took the #wiltoncakedecorating course during my last year in the military and immediately entered the Associate Degree Pastry Chef program at Lake Washington Technical College after I got out. Flowers and vines were my absolute favorite thing to do. It's kind of ironic that I don't normally eat sugar and I'm vegan now. I think it's important to remain fluid with your life (if you have the privilege to do that). Something that, for the most part, remained constant throughout my former #abusiverelationship.... ....my #hands. 🖐🏻🤚🏻 My poor, poor fucking hands! They truly, truly “stuck it out”; (#literally #pun), for me when I needed some ‘protection’ (like a shield 🛡 ) Unfortunately for Kyle, I was very good with my ability to “block” punches coming my way. 🤜🏻💥💪🏻 I was like a ‘pro’ by the end of it. (Which meant my hands were the most bruised, red & swollen towards the end of the relationship 😒) But, anyways, my hand(s) LITERALLY “took” the beating(s) meant for my face. Just think about that for a sec.... I spent the last 24 hours sobbing in bed. I feel like a piece of my heart is gone forever. @shar4200 had such a profound impact on my life. When I was just 13-years-old he made me feel like I wasn’t broken. He was my first love - the Mark Renton to my Diane. But he was also a trigger and had a way of romanticizing drugs. It's just one of those days when I'm looking through past photos taken and this one of mum pops up! Taken around this time of year in 2014, (Nov), I planned a country trip getaway from mum, that came after her cruise on the sea. I arranged a week away to Ballarat, 1.5 hours from Melbourne CBD, that included comfort cottage accommodation, staying in activities as well as some family time activities enjoying the surrounds of Ballarat, Daylesford doing activities that would give mum an insight to fun, family (with my sister, cousin, best friend joining in) and making some last memories together. This was taken at the @beechworthbakery in Ballarat, they were promoting the bee sting cake, and mum thought it would be cool to get a photo with the bee themed head band on.
