Replies to progress reports!

Since it's a Camp Nano month, I like to reply to everyone's progress updates as if I need a reason! I'm making you work now, yes I am.

So, if you replied to the progress update, look for me talking at you in the "read more".

Every couple of days, I'll check up again. If you'd like to block or track these posts, the tag is "ksw nano", even though it's both nano and not nano. I recycle tags. Recycle, kids.

mythicalmiracles answered: I’ve failed NaNo (of all kinds) so many times that I’ve given up on it. And apparently, writer’s block is kicking in.

That's why I never officially participate in Nano -- if I can't make the goal for whatever reason (since I'm prone to writing mood swings), I can get pretty hard on myself. Is there anything causing your block specifically?

lupusdraconis answered: +68k words! Had a disagreement about how a specific scene was going to play out, and having trouble editing, but feeling good regardless.

If by "disagreement" you mean characters telling you "no ur wrong" then I totally understand. They do that a lot to us, and then suddenly we're writing an entirely different story. But 68k is a lot! Do you edit while you write?

Aw man, I understand that feel. Sometimes I forget about the whole traumatic aspect of things like that happening to characters, but then they remind me that it's sort of a big deal. I'm glad they do, at least.

No, I totally understand. Like 80% of my story ideas begin from weird scenes in my dreams. One of them started with only a chase scene through a forest and using elemental powers to escape, and I woke up and was like, "...I NEED WRITE." The plot totally came after I decided to write the scene! Also, wikipedia has always been my friend when it comes to science and technology and all that other stuff I don't understand.

Hey guys, Mythicalmiracles here. We're still here, just... a little busy with our own lives. With everyone starting back to school, save for me (*cue the realization that I might be one of the oldest in this group ohgods*), we've been not talking as much. We'll get back to working on this soon, so keep your eyes peeled~ Also, 44 followers! I need to convince Velvet or Ocean to draw something in commemoration. Until then, take it easy.

Progress update?

Firstly, saw a resounding plea for the new exercises to feature pacing and flow + description, which means hybrid exercises, which means I must test my writing exercise creative skills. NO PRESSURE.

Nah, it'll be fun. I'm actually seeing my own flow issues while revising, so it'll help me out too.

SECONDLY, the first week of July is over, how we doin'? Tell me your progress and non-progress and frustration. Tell me all the things.

Yesterday, I revised for eight straight hours and I'm losing my mind. I'll probably make a post about it on the blogspot just so I can stall a little longer. The sad part is that I'm only on chapter nine. SHAME.

No way, man. The story we imagine in our heads is never the same story that ends up on paper, I can promise you that. Every book I've written doesn't look like the thing that was in my head (and I've written a whole lot). Revision can bring you a little closer, but it'll never be quite right.

How are those words?

I hope you've been giving yourself a break, then. Sometimes that happens to me, too, where I'm movin' and groovin', and then suddenly all my fuel dries up. Some time away usually helps me regenerate.

Okay, I'm gonna ask you what you mean by B4/1 because I keep reading it as book 4 out of 1 and I'm like, I know I'm really bad at math, but.

ALSO I MEAN, there's totally nothing wrong with a MLP Star Wars crossover, I mean, more power to you. You've got so many projects going, I don't even know how you manage it. I can only focus on one at a time, and that alone drives me to this edge of crazy that the personal tumblr is embarrassingly reflecting.
