I tried drawing reeda because I love her. I have no idea what you had in mind for her design so I just re-read the chapter and went off of what your description was the best that I could. She gives me Painter vibes from pressure

Honestly REEDA's main design in my head fits Ford's lab, so it's a very retro cassette-futuristic style like you've illustrated. Think: how did people imagine the future was going to look in 197-something. All Commodores and IBM and thick plastic etc.

Ford's lab in mtb is designed with that exact aesthetic in mind, so terminals and things like this were at the forefront of my mind:

These types of terminals are primarily in the mainframe room that Reader goes through to access the lab. It's all set up with things like the above. Whereas REEDA's central screens in the main body of the lab look more like the ones in The Forbin Project:

Except they're a mix of both of those aesthetics, so they're weirdly long CRT monitors suspended in a similar layout to the above!

Here's another ss from Forbin bc it works along similar lines! And also it's a great movie and you should watch it!

These doodles I would say are roughly around the time where Y/N has known them for a bit, so they're not tooooo dangerous anymore, and they're just starting to figure out the whole (waves vaguely) identity thing lol

To explain the little mini comic just in case its not clear: Y/N is lamenting to Moon about some car troubles (whether they drive themself or couldn't get a ride someplace or what have you), and the next day, Sun asks how the car situation is going. Y/N is a little confused because they remember talking to Moon about that, not Sun. Sun is confused because he's not sure what the difference is. He's not even sure who's out right now (Both? One? Which one? What's the difference???)

they started as a self insert but immediately morphed into something else lol they kept a lot of my usual self insert stuff but yeah uh

pierced all over and two tattoos! one is an option from the game itself, a snake around their thigh but i also wanted to do something written on their arm

edit: also an ankle tattoo now. a teapot with a moon on it, referencing the lil tea parties they had with alistair and their conversations about getting matching tattoos one day. alistair's would have had a star instead of a moon, but it would have been the same

never knew what til i realized, just a couple days ago, the line "no amount of self-sought fury will bring back the glory of innocence" from the song take me back to eden was. super fitting

also trying to figure out clothes was so hard?? while reading, i've only ever pictured them all dressed up or armored, so i sat staring at the rosea pinterest thing for like an hour

anyway!! they spend a lot of time climbing things they shouldn't. especially considering how clumsy they are. honestly, this scene was prolly like... 5 seconds away from them falling out of the tree and laughing about it for like 20 mins

also to be clear, they do try to dress properly when they have Responsibilities To Take Care Of but as soon as they get free time, they strip down as much as they can cause they hate being hot and they're basically a person shaped radiator

new sparkledog thing :3 ish!! is he is a deep sea weird dog thing, he is completely unaffected by any water pressure and depth, and can live anywhere in the sea!!! he has 4 arms, his back arms are better at swimming than his front ones and have webbing for that! his name is Lumi btw ^_^ its short for bioluminescence

Regardless of its intelligence level, how many non-human creatures have Arthur and John had an emotionally positive experience with?bc I am wracking my brain and the only ones I can come up with are the lamp-eft, the buopoth, the cana, and the owl (I have yet to figure out if cana is a species or a job title but yall know who I'm talking about)

was kinda thinking about this when I saw Renee Rapp live recently-- I didn't know her visual vibe, I'd heard a few songs here and there but I hadn't really *seen* her, and her attire at Osheaga was really casual, a jersey (baseball/basketball?) and slacks. And that was so amazing! I couldn't help thinking, the work Billie Eilish has done for how women in pop music are allowed to dress is incredible. Seeing her up there all comfortable you just know that Billie walked in her oversized tops so that Renee in her slacks could run; Billie walked through all the critcisms about how she dressed slobbily and having to assert that she didn't owe anyone a display of skin, so that Renee could be comfortable and unquestioned running up and down the catwalk in front of 10,000 people. How iconic.

And I don't think we even realised at the time how much something as simple as letting Billie dress the way she as a (then-) 17-year-old teenager dressed, could end up meaning for a future generation of women in music.

Obviously there is still way to go, there were weirdos complaining about how 'plain' Dua Lipa's Glastonbury outfit was this year (in 2024!!), l have to ask, are you at Paris Fashion Week?? She is the musical HEADLINER of an entire day of music at one of the biggest music festivals in the world, and you can't grant her the space to exist as an artist, you have to moan about her dress not being excitingly revealing enough. There's work to do, it's still dismal out there. But the space Billie Eilish has created for a most ordinarily-dressed woman popstar is still heartening.
