I noticed a very hard to read and inaccessible scan of the short story Redemption Center from the Transformers Legends Anthology 2004 novel floating around in the Starscream tag and since the story is dear to me, decided to transcribe and post a clean pdf version. It’s linked here:

Published officially along with a collection of other Transformers short stories in 2004 under the Transformers Legends Anthology novel title, Redemption Center character spotlights Starscream and tentatively explores the grand divide of faction dynamics.

The story itself is a “what-if” sort, taking place in the Generation 1 continuity some time past the episode “A Prime Problem”, following Starscream after he finds himself severely damaged in an accidental fall post battle. The damaged Starscream creates an ethical dilemma for the Autobots, having shed his memory in recovery and exhibiting very unfamiliar behavior.

Though the dilemma doesn’t last long as Starscream quickly recuperates, regaining the weight of his past and returning to life with the Decepticons. Despite his quick departure, the kind experience the Autobots left Starscream with seemingly leaving more of a lasting effect on the ‘bot than anyone would seem to expect.

This article does a great job of explaining the differences.

If everyone was still masking, I'd say stick with the cheaper option, but since your mask now has to work overtime to protect you in public, FFP3 is an excellent option if you can afford it. Even better would be a reusable elastomeric such as the flomask or similar products: The rubber/silicone gasket seals much better and more reliably, and the smaller filters create less waste and cost less in the long run. Some elastomerics even filter 100% of covid-sized particles. In the US FFP2 is just about equal to N95 in terms of filtration while FFP3 is closer to our N99.

Weekly COVID-19 Update for 2023-12-24

COVID is still airborne, and COVID still very much isn't over.

Northeastern and Midwestern USA SARS2 virus levels in wastewater are *soaring*, Northeast is currently at 1500 copies/mL (~750 copies indicates a strong surge), and Midwest is at 1300 copies/mL. Southeastern and Western USA are maintaining relatively lower levels between 600 and 700 overall, but both are still climbing. How to reduce your risk of infection? The SARS2 virus is airborne and can spread like smoke, so #MaskUp with an #N95 or better, avoid superspreader events and locations, and stay up-to-date on your boosters. Do it for yourself, so you don't catch SARS-CoV-2, and for others, so you don't spread SARS-CoV-2. Even if you're fully vaccinated, your risk of developing #LongCOVID following an infection is lower but not zero, and multiple reinfections increase your odds of negative health outcomes. Plan A always should be to prevent an infection from developing by wearing a respirator with a good seal around your mouth and nose (FFP2, FFP3, KN95, N95, N99, P100, etc.).

Holiday tips:

-If someone tells you that COVID is over, you might ask them why, if we didn't consider COVID to be over in 2020 or 2021, when the COVID wastewater levels were lower, why should we consider it over now, when the virus is circulating in even higher amounts?

-"Fewer cases" doesn't mean much when most of the at-home rapid tests don't get counted in official records, and the most accurate PCR tests are neither freely available nor given to everyone getting on a plane or attending classes.

-"Fewer deaths" also means less when you remember that about 1,200,000 of the most vulnerable people already have died from it, COVID-19 remains the #3 cause of death in 2023 (behind heart disease and cancer, the risk of both of which may be increased by COVID), and the risk of a Long COVID/post-acute COVID syndrome (PACS) disability or other potentially life-shortening organ damage (brain, kidney, lung, immune, etc.) isn't measured just by the death count. Also, the USA's life expectancy still hasn't recovered from the drop it experienced following the start of the pandemic.

i hope this doesn't sound stupid or rude but i thought this might be a good place to ask: does anyone know what masks (or ways of wearing a mask) are good for those of us with glasses? i don't mask much but i've been reconsidering it lately and the main thing stopping me is that i cannot stand my glasses fogging up when i wear a mask which is what happens basically every time. contacts are not an option for me so i would love to know if anyone has workarounds for this!

Hey, thank you for asking, and thank you for your patience! This isn't rude or nonsensical at all, and I'm happy to answer!

If you experience your glasses fogging up from masking:

Does the mask you wear have a completely snug seal? If your mask is loose, especially around your nose, that leaves room for humidity from your breathing to fog up your glasses (not to mention also leaves room for virus aerosols to spread).

If it does have a completely snug seal, then the humidity could be escaping from an embossed part of your mask (assuming your mask has an embossed part like this one), and I'm honestly not sure what a workaround could be! When I'm wearing an N95 3m Aura (the usual mask I wear, which has an embossed top panel), my glasses only really fog up if I'm in a warm, poorly-ventilated, closed-in area. In those moments I just wait it out until I'm in a better area. If folks have any advice on fog prevention in those moments, please feel free to share!

I would recommend an elastomeric respirator if this is a common occurrence no matter what mask you try or how snug it is. I'd recommend elastomerics in general since their filtration rates are usually of the highest standard (i.e. N95, N99, P100, etc.). Elastomerics are reusable, cleanable, and typically hypoallergenic! An example would be FloMask, which many people have said has been a game changer for them because of the fact it doesn't fog up their glasses.

If affording better quality masks is a challenge, I recommend looking for your local mask bloc and/or covid action group to see if they have free quality masks to offer you! They may be able to give suggestions for you as well!

I wanted to share this hood deco by CTNutmugger I found on the n99 forum. It's low poly, has small textures, and the buildings are a nice height to mix in with your playable lots

I love the look of dense cities but they're hard to make in Sims 2 because of the pink soup problem. Plus most hood deco buildings are so tall they dwarf all the playable lots. But I put a bunch of these around a house in my test hood and it had a city feel without being claustrophobic, I didn't get any lag either

Create a Sim September | Day 8: Fairytale

I know I'm behind a few days, but I really am having fun with these. Today I decided to do a spin on an old classic: Hansel and Gretel. My version of the witch lures lost children in with her sweet smile and even sweeter confections -- though she must be careful not to scare them off with her sharp teeth and horns. Once she has captured her prey, she drains their energy to maintain her youthful glow. Hansel and Gretel will have to be smart and cunning to escape her grasp.
