Hey i just found yr blog and im in deep regret that why wasn't i able to do that beforeT_T, anyways i enjoyed your comics VERY VERYmuch, i was deeply enthralled by naruto fox au, i checked out your ocs as well and the childish relationship between kakashi and kenshi was my favourite, iwas just assuming if you could draw them more with their bickering (i love themmm)and about kenshi , her story is not clear to me, maybe i missed something while checking out yr blog ...

Abiut his story/background -> His mother Tamako travelled around a lot after the fall of Uzushio and settled in Konoha when she found out she was pregnant. Kenshi was born and raised by her until she passed (he was 7), then he was pretty much adopted by Ashi's father, Inuzuka Kita. Kenshi, Ashi and Uchiha Sho become a team under Aburame Shinichi.

After this point there are a few different paths I took with these characters, originally all of them but Kenshi would die by the time the og Naruto timeline starts. But that was making me sad so I switched to a happy version where everyone lives :) Kenshi gets his own genin team too in the future (with Kaen, Miyu and Naoki).

The thing with Kakashi is that he had a crush on him when they were kids, but after the Kyuubi attack Kenshi was very hurt (losing the last of his clan, originally his teacher died that night too, being denied Naruto's care, and just all the tragedy that it was) and Kakashi still went against him, insisting on following Hiruzen's orders, so Kenshi snapped at him and their relationship took a dark turn. Only around shippuden era they would get around talking it out.

And the fun thing is, they are both very strong shinobi with powerful skills and yet when faced with an "ally" they simply don't get along with... they turn to the pettiest, silliest, most (usually) harmless antics possible <3

- avatar lusa’s name means ‘midnight’. you’ll never guess what time she was born at

- being from the southern water tribe, which has always been a bit more lax on letting women learn waterbending, she did learn how to fight. sort of. mostly defensive moves, though

- she was brought to the northern water tribe to learn healing

- her healing teacher was a woman named panninguaq, the chief’s eldest daughter

- the chief of the tribe also had twin sons, paruk and panuk

- the twins have a different mom. panninguaq’s mother gave birth to her and then was unable to conceive again. the tribe elders insisted the chief take another wife in order to produce a male heir. they rejoiced when she had two

- panuk is close with his older sister, paruk is not. paruk is the eldest by a few minutes, making him the heir. panuk and panninguaq both feel shirked by him, and so their relationship with him is best described as frosty. lol

- paruk is a decent guy though, and does his best to live up to his duties to the tribe. lusa finds this very admirable, hence why she started falling for him

- to learn earthbending, she was sent to ba sing se to live with the royals while she trained

- lusa kinda sucked at bending tbh. she found it really difficult and was also very hard on herself

- prince haoyu, a nonbender, helped her with her overall confidence, and also was always there to take her mind off bending with something intellectual, like reading or pai sho

- and oopsies he fell in love with her too

- lusa headed to the fire nation to learn firebending from the crown princess, nyzah

- hearing about the avatar’s… warm welcome in the other nations, the firelord’s only instruction to his daughter was: don’t fall in love with her

- nyzah, two weeks later: dad i fell in love with the avatar

- anyway lol

- lusa heads off to the eastern air temple to learn airbending. she meets with chesa, who is one of the youngest spiritual gurus the air nation has seen

- chesa sees that crooked avatar grin and knows she’s done for

- they’re all very funny to me

- so yeah that’s how avatar lusa got her politically complicated polycule

- as for the future

- lusa ends up officially marrying 3/4 of her partners

- people are like ‘can she do that?’ ‘i mean she’s the avatar i guess she can do what she wants’

- the only one she doesn’t marry is nyzah, simply due to the fact that nyzah is an only child and therefore must produce an heir for her country

- nyzah marries a very chill fire nation guy who’s a nice person and a good father, and they remain very friendly even if there’s no romantic love between them

- fun fact: asami and mako and bolin’s mothers can both trace their lineage back to firelord nyzah

- nyzah had a son who became the next firelord, and two younger daughters. one daughter is an ancestor of naoki, one daughter is an ancestor of yasuko

- not that this matters at all, or that they’d ever be able to trace their ancestry back that far. this is like ~1000 years before canon

- but it’s fun

- as for paruk and haoyu’s lines

- lusa did have a few kids

- but all were barred from the lines of succession because there was no accurate way to confirm who their father was. and no royalty was gonna put someone on the throne who they weren’t absolutely sure was supposed to be there

- so paruk’s siblings did in fact sort of get to rule, because one of their heirs got the throne after he died. who’s laughing now

- and haoyu had a younger brother whose kid took the throne. he and his brother were closer though, so he wasn’t nearly as bothered lol

overall though they all lived pretty chill and happy lives

I learned about Exile first because a Toku actor I adore was in one of their MVs, which was how I learned about LDH. Back then, Gekidan wasn't even really a thing. I discovered Sho through a comedy movie later and was immediately charmed by him. Next I discovered Onocha due to him being in the MV for a LDH girl group ("Love", they sadly disbanded pretty quickly).

It took a while before I really got into Gekidan after that. I did notice Keita in a couple of things here and there, but he had yet to make his big break.

By chance I discovered the Gekidan stage "Attack No1" which stared almost the whole group (minus Kanta because he wasn't part of LDH yet). Let me tell you what a blast that was. Luckily it was the first version with Kenchi and Tetsuya (both got later replaced in the second version by Naoki and Naoto, while Gun took over for Keita).

If you ever manage to get your hands on that stage, please watch the first version. It's one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen. Shin and Yuta kiss on the lips, Tetsuya marries off Onocha to Masa, though in the end it's Keita confessing (he's pining the whole time) and running away with Onocha. It's very wild.

It was around 2014/5 when I really got into the group, which was triggered by Omi's first movie and soon after the first HiLO season. Then Kamen Rider Ex-Aid and Ultraman Geed happened at the same time, which was quickly followed by more HiLO, and after that there was no turning back for me. I still remember how Onocha congratulated Yuta on the Ultraman Zero role with Yuta saying that he was feeling a lot of motherly love coming from Onocha. XD

Idk if you know about their old manager's blog where he talked about the group and the members and what he thinks about them, saying that even though Gekidan is one group, it's actually two odd families living side by side with Sway being the weird uncle who shows up from time to time. Family A is Sho (papa, gamer), Shin (mama), Keita (too quiet/calm, often wonders what he's thinking) and Kanta (takes too many photos). And family B is Yuta (cook/househusband), Masa (owns too many cleaning products), Onocha (gamer/likes to annoy Sho) and Nobu (big brother).

(Also before I forget it; you are so right Gekidan + taiko drums are a match made in heaven. I really hope there will be a chance to see Aki, Yuki and Ken-chan doing it together with the others.)

It was really great to see Aki, Yuki and Ken-chan watch the JAM recital and cheer on their future group mates. They talked about it on Insta, saying that Aki was the responsible older brother who took his younger brothers to a concert. They were even decked out in JAM merch and all.

I think the photos of the summer outing are still up on the LDH Izakaya insta (I do remember that both Aki and Onocha posted about it on their insta as well). I guess we'll have to wait and see if they do the LDH Izakaya summer outing again this year and who gets paired off together since it's always odd pairs.

Wow you've known them for such a long time!!! Even longer than Kanta's history!!! and omg even seeing a stage with the Exile members...!! the only things i ever found of gekidan are just with the current members 😔

Ohh the gekidan family dynamics is so adorable 😭😭 that's exactly why i wanted to see interactions between the senior members and the newbies 🙏 i wanted to see where Akishio would put himself in the current dynamics because eventho he's new to the company, he acts around gekidan like he's always knew them personally (thanks to being in highlow & prilege i assume). He wasn't afraid to jab or tsukkomi the seniors unlike Maeken and Sakuyuki are.

I'm also interested to see how Machida Keita would act around the new kouhais because he seemed to be fond of Kanta. And like you said he's actually pretty quiet (with his reputation i thought he would be more talkative tbh) so it'll be interesting to see how he acts around new people.

I remember watching the Izakaya livestream with onocha, maeken and sakuyuki, but i guess i missed the one with akishio and onocha 😣 i hope they still have archive of it on CL

hidari shotaru had always been kind, giving the whole of his heart unhesitantly once finally earned. yukari was one of the firsts to receive it. she could recall the moment as if it were yesterday — a cluster of boys torturing a black, luckless cat, and yukari, with all her five year-old fury, not having yet unlearned her less than charming stuttering, had marched up to them anyways with a stammering “s-stop!” the choir of laughter that ensued must’ve been disparaging from even two blocks away, for shotaru had splintered in as quick as a haunt, chasing — most effortlessly — the perpetrators away in an ant-like scatter. he stood miraculously tall, even then, and when he’d turned around to face the girl with a fist still slightly clenched, his eyes, paradoxically, were lined with something so gentle that it had stuttered yukari breathless.

don’t worry, yuka-chan, they won’t mess with you when i’m around! his voice had taken on the flighting edge of a winded cape, sliding into the breeze like bird’s treasured wing. he’d held her gaze before tending to the cat, scratching its head as if an attempt to swathe his own itch of injustice. then, to the stray as much as herself, yukari had been quite sure of it, he had promised, boyishly, i’ll make them count their sins! i swear it!

these days, yukari doesn’t stutter anymore, but shotaru’s eyes and voice are still the same.

even now — when there’s files upon files connected to the seven syllables of her name, fated by thumbtacks and red string on the dreary boards back at his office — hidari shotaru’s dripping red with love, shaping his mouth around her name so tenderly that one could not possibly miss it. “ i’m doing this because i care for you, yuka-chan. i always have, ” @7hell says, tone breaking in devotion. yukari’s kitchen light catches him as they always do, familiar and faithful, even when he’s speaking in blanketed accusation. “ i want you to feel safe telling me… so i’ll stay with you until you’re ready. ”

the metronomic ticks of the witnessing clock cuts like a siren in the thick pause that follows. yukari wonders, small and secretive, when shotaru’s sincerity had stopped being enough, feels, not for the first time, an old version of herself shedding its doll-skin as it climbs quietly into the dark corners of an attic.

a piece of her breaks — a piece of her breaks, and for a moment, the slight shuffling sound ringing about feels as if her shedding were physically realized — but then she remembers that it’s just naoki, her naoki, only two rooms away, polishing a cluster of whetted knives before dressing in his best whites. the image alone heals any pressing fracture, though yukari can’t help the instinctive twitch of her hands beneath the table.

she does, however, borrow a lamb’s face in only the matter of a millisecond, eyes wide and hurt as if unhinging the facade of her butcher.

“ sho-kun… w-what are you — why—? don’t you believe me? how could y-you think i— ” yukari’s tongue remembers its old, stuttering dance with stunning relief. she rises the tops of her shoulders in a display of self protection, eyes darting downwards in plastic disbelief. “ i can’t stand the sight of b-blood — you know that — that time when we were thi—rd years? you had to take me h-home after that — that gym incident..! i had tre-tremors for days! ” she’s grasping at toothpicks, if not straws, but the voice that escapes her is coated in turbulence, wearing such a vulnerability that, surely, it can be overlooked. “ i thought… i thought you tru—st me, sho-kun, i thought you knew me — but if my words aren’t en-enough anymore, naoki-kun’s right here.. ” a pause, an interval, and then her golden ticket: “ i… i can get him for you, if you like. ”

Nothing consistent about this, but I thought I might start sharing some of the unfamiliar grammar points I come across -- if it helps anyone, cool! But I’m also hoping it’ll help cement the grammar a little more firmly into my own memory. There might be a few different uses of individual grammar points I note down, but the meanings I share are ones based on the context I find them in. I’m also perpetually learning, so I’ll be up front about anything I’m uncertain about and always welcome corrections. ♡

真相に追るたび、二人の大切な仲間たちが生命の危機にさらされていく。(x - synopsis from the 2023 film with Sakurai Sho and Hirose Suzu who play detectives Kazama Naoki and Mikami Anna respectively)

・たびに or たび Meaning: each time〜; every time〜; whenever〜 | Bunpro ☆ Maggie

In this case, there is no に -- and most places show examples using the full adverbial form only, so I wasn’t sure if this interpretation was correct until I read Maggie Sensei’s post (thank you). She says に is sometimes dropped in formal writing and speech, but the meaning stays the same, which is: every time/whenever I do (A), (B) happens.

So in my example sentence, 真相に追るたび is saying whenever (Naoki and Anna) pursue the truth... 二人の大切な仲間たちが生命の危機にさらされていく happens. (Which I am interpreting as: (Whenever Anna and Naoki pursue the truth...) the lives of close friends are put at risk.)

Meaning: concerning〜; in regard to〜; about〜 | JLPT Sensei ☆ Takoboto ☆ Imabi

Imabi provides some extra notes on the usage here -- it’s stiff language, and it can sometimes be used in a more literal sense (of passing through or around places), but it more often refers to ‘surrounding’ something that is often translated as “concerning〜”. “In a sense you are surrounding something in an interest and describing it.”

To brutishly translate “消えた1日をめぐって不器用な恋を繰り広げる,” I’ll say a clumsy or awkward romance develops in regards to or concerning a lost day... But to be a little liberal: Set in Kyoto, 1 Byou Saki no Kare tells the story of an awkward romance between the attractive, fast-paced Hajime and Reika, the little sloth that could, when (the memory of) an entire day goes missing.

It’s difficult for me to understand this in a ‘surrounding with interest’ concept, but... ・・・私、頑張っているよね ʅ(ツ)ʃ

映画制作にまつわる人々の奮闘、脚本のもとになった取材先での感動秘話などがフィクションと“湯ーモア”たっぷりに描かれる。(x)

・にまつわる Meaning: related/relating to, associated with, connected to | Bunpro ☆ JLPT Sensei ☆ Nani Blog

The にまつわる grammar point is sandwiched between two nouns (so AにまつわるB), to say B is related to A. In this case, noun A = 映画制作 (film production) and noun B = 人々の奮闘 (everyone’s hard effort), so: 映画制作にまつわる人々の奮闘 = the hard work of everyone involved in the production of this film...

・もとになる Meaning: become the basis for, become the foundation of (noun phrase) | Kanshudo

Ha ha, well, I don’t like this sentence! As much as I searched, I only found the one explanation with one example, so I did what I normally do: look it up on google or twitter for in-the-wild examples. It’s all good, I get it -- AもとになるB, so B is the foundation of A. But, I don’t understand what 湯ーモア means, I’m not sure how to best understand 取材先 in this context, and I’m confused on how to fit in the first part of the sentence for comprehension. So,

Depicting plenty of fiction and “hot water(??),” stories (like the ones shared?) at interviews became the basis of the script 

is my gist! Which might be totally wrong! --Moving on!

These last few days, I've been trying to think of what I want out of a Final Fantasy XVII. And I've definitely had some interesting thoughts there.

But one thing I definitely want--which I just know is a surprise to everyone, I say sarcastically--is a female protagonist... which I'm sure would go over really well with the people who hated Final Fantasy XIII. -shifty eyes- (However, people seemed excited about the idea of Agni's Philosophy, that would have no doubt had a female lead.)

However, enough time has passed since XIII, right? I'd like to try this idea again. Especially since, let's be honest, the real leads of Final Fantasy VII, X, and XII are Terra, Yuna, and Ashe respectively, even if you might not know it because you don't necessarily play as them... So obviously female Final Fantasy leads can be done and done well. Why, then, does suddenly making them the playable character make a difference? (I know it's just because people didn't like Lightning. So let's make a character that everyone likes, then.)

Although, if I'm being honest, I also mostly don't trust Square Enix when it comes to writing female characters anymore. Though I still don't want them to give up, of course. So who would I even want to attempt this?

Kazushige Nojima comes to mind, as he's penned a lot of our favorite Final Fantasy games, of course (and some of our favorite leading ladies in them, like in VII and X). So if he wasn't busy, he could surely be great for this... However, I'm also somewhat afraid of his work now, because of the Final Fantasy X-3 stuff, but hopefully that was the one time he really failed--and will ever fail--amidst all of his stellar work.

Yasumi Matsuno, who was responsible for Final Fantasy XII and Vagrant Story? I'll admit that I'm a terrible person who has never played Vagrant Story, though I did start watching a walkthrough for it years ago... and though I loved it, for whatever reason I never finished it. Back then I had started watching a million different playthroughs of games and couldn't commit to one (I think because I had a busy work schedule hen, and if I chose one, I wanted it to be worth it. Not that Vagrant Story wasn't. It most definitely was... I also was so overworked back then, I would sometimes fall asleep while watching the games, sadly, like with Final Fantasy VI--that had nothing to do with the games themselves, but how tired I was, which is why I inevitably gave up on this whole endeavor). But even so, I of course could tell how genius the game was, and I can definitely understand why so many people love it and are clamoring for a remake of it. As a whole, I feel both of these games are very well-done and greatly scripted. And, while I'll admit, that the Final Fantasy XII heroines don't grab me as much as some of the other ones in the series do, they're still extraordinary ones, nonetheless. And no one can argue how great Ashe was at directing the plot of XII. So if Matsuno wanted to direct a female led FFXVII, I would be all for it.

Naoki Yoshida. While I do think some of the stuff with Jill fell apart at the end of Final Fantasy XVI, I felt like she was a wonderful heroine for most of the game--and I like the girls in all of this installment--so I wouldn't mind giving him another chance. And another chance at the next FF installment in general, as there was so much about FFXVI that really hit the mark and that I loved: and I think that many people agree with that sentiment.

Yoko Taro. I'll admit that the only thing I know about Yoko Taro is the little bit of the first NieR I saw from a playthrough I watched (so I might not be the best person to talk about this). But he's always willing to bring crazy ideas to the table, it sounds like, and to experiment. So if he'd be up for trying such a thing, I'd most definitely let him try.

Motomu Toriyama. Yeah, this isn't going to happen with how much everyone hated his XIII trilogy. But all of his female characters in the XIII games were so great, imo (-shot-). And he's partly responsible for X and X-2, as well, and the ladies were wonderful there, as well (he's also helping out with the FFVIIR stuff, and we all love Tifa, Aerith, and Yuffie). Oh well...

Akiko Ishibashi. She was a female writer on Neo TWEWY. And I loved how our ladies there were handled--and, of course, having a woman write other women (or to at least help out with that process) is most definitely a good thing--and now she's helping out with the Kingdom Hearts series... which is a godsend. And I don't really want to take her away from there, because Lord knows we need her when it comes to KH. But if she were to also help out a bit with FFXVI, I certainly wouldn't mind that.
