A few days late for my first #january2023 studio session. I wanted to focus on using cheap, affordable and forgotten digital tools to create something beautiful, so I ditched the modulars and recorded alongside live field recordings using the following:

I found myself amongst a forest of cottonwoods today... in the town of Cottonwood! I felt like I was walking along the banks of the Fox River, Silver Lake searching for traces of beavers 😂 (if you’ve been following me awhile, you’ll totally get what I’m saying...) . It felt amazing in this forest today. It was like a little piece of Wisconsin here in Arizona. Cottonwood trees are close to my heart, like fathers watching over me and always up for a tree hug! Giving me their wisdom, telling me what I need to do. . I had this thought while pondering with the trees. You know how trees, plants, flowers and other forms of nature respond to music? I’m talking like classical, instrumental, jazz... nature LOVES music! It helps them grow and feel in harmony. So, what if as humans, we go into the forests with our pianos, guitars, clarinets, flutes, oboes, trumpets, trombones, tubas, saxophones.... and played beautiful music for the plants? To help them heal after wildfires, or other forms of destruction? Wouldn’t that be something fun to try? A touring band that performs for the forests! . Who’d want to be in a band like that?!
