TVLINE | You seem to be the #Kacy fans’ go-to guy for content whenever they’re clamoring for crumbs. A lot of the times, I’m with Tor, or I’m with Yaz, when I can’t get both of them, and I make sure they they don’t get annoyed that I’m posting photos of them. Now they’re like, “Oh, that’s a terrible photo, let me do it again!”

TVLINE | One thing I learned over the years is you have to allow actresses photo approval. Absolutely. But they’re great, they’re hilarious. And I love that that’s blown up, because it’s a really big deal not just for the show but for representation.

No other whump blogs will answer me sadge. Do you have any good whump shows where the healing process takes a long time? I feel like everything I read it’s fixed by magic or time jumps.

Hmmmm that is a tricky one. Most of the time your gonna get some kind of time skip whether its a skip to the hospital or the hospital scene is skipped over or the whole recovery process is skipped over. Super annoying but inevitable. Let me see what I can find. We're lucky if we get the whump continued into one other episode. There's gonna be time skips in all of these though. I don't think there's anything out there (that I know of) that doesn't have a time skip at all. Episodes can only be so long ya know?

In 9-1-1 Buck gets crushed by a ladder truck in 2x18 and you see some of his recovery in the same episode. Then in 3x01 he has a pulmonary embolism because of his injury and then he's on blood thinners for several episodes and it's a whole thing for like 4 episodes.

Outlander season 4 (4x10-4x13) has Roger in long term captivity where he's beaten several times.

Kaz in season 2 of Shadow and Bone has the bruises from being beaten up over the course of several episodes.

Tony Dinozzo gets the plague in NCIS 2x22 and in the next episode he's still recovering from it.

Lassiter in Psych has an arm in a sling for several episodes because Timothy Omundson actually did hurt himself. Starts in 2x06 and goes for the next few episodes.

In that same vein Scott Caan got hurt twice while filming Hawaii Five-0 that was written into the show. At the start of the show he uses a cane for a knee injury and then episodes he's got his arm in a sling. You can see it in 8x05, 8x06, 8x08.

Jamie Lannister in Game of Thrones season 2 is held captive for quite a long time and in season 3 he gets his hand chopped off and that whump lasts several episodes

Mike Warren in Graceland has two moments. He's stabbed in season 2 and that lasts for a bit and then shot at the end of season 2 which then lasts well into season 3 and becomes a big problem for him.

How old were you when you first realized you liked guys getting hurt?: I’m not sure on my exact age, but it was when I was a kid and we still had VHS tapes around.  I would wear mine out watching and rewatching the whumpy bits of my favorite movies.

What was that very first scene you remember gave you those glorious butterfly feelings?:  Ladyhawke back in the 80s.  A very young Matthew Broderick gets his chest ripped up by a wolf.

When and how was it that you realized “Hey, I’m not so messed up in the head!” and that there’s a definition and community for this sort of thing?: 

I think it was when I first discovered Fan Fiction.  I fell in love with Supernatural and was writing my own whumpy versions of scenes, not realizing what I was doing had a name or a community.  Then I stumbled upon FF.net and the hurt/comfort filter and it was love at first click.  For Tumblr, I’m pretty sure I was searching Whump on google one day and came across @whumpgalore.  I went through her 200+ pages of whump in a weekend.  I made my own Tumblr to comment on something, I think, and made it a photography blog at first.  When I started exploring the Whump tag more and discovered how many blogs were out there, and how everyone was so fantastic and into so many of the same things I was, I was hooked.  Never looked back, and never will again :). I was dammittmarie back then 😂

What’s your favorite whump trope?: I’m a sucker for the unconscious.  And heavy lidded, pain filled eyes literally turn me on.

What’s a whump trope that you hate?:  Excessive gore.  Characters written as incompetent or weak when they really aren’t, just for the sake of whump.

What’s your favorite whumped character?: Captain America, Dean Winchester, John Sheppard, Tony DiNozzo, & Stiles Stalinski.

Fevers or Hypothermia?: Fever all day every day.  Give me a damp brow and someone gently sweeping sweaty bangs away from an overheated forehead any day.  Fever dreams, moaning, thrashing, seizures when the fever gets too high...

Emotional or physical?: Physical, hands down, though I appreciate the emotional too.

Injured and asks for help or tries to cover it up?: Well, I love it when the character is discovered beyond the point of being able to cover it up.  I guess if I had to choose, I’d go with injured and asks for help.

Lastly, does anyone know about this addiction of yours?: I’ve told exactly 4 people in my life about this.  One person thinks she shares my love of it, but I don't think she really gets it, the other is my kindred spirit who writes me Captain America whump when I need to be cheered up, and the other is fascinated by it but doesn't understand it, but is a doctor and helps me with my medical questions so I keep her around.  The fourth was my brother, but he’s gone now.

Do you know of any programs be it shows or films that have poisoning as the main thing? From secret poisoning the kind for controlling or revenge poisoning?

I do love good control or revenge by making them ill/sick or reliant on others.

Oh yeah there's a ton of good poisoning episodes of tv shows. here's a list for ya:

Merlin 1x04 The Poisoned Chalice when Merlin purposefully drinks from a poisoned cup. Also 5x08 when Morgana gives him poison

Once Upon A Time season 7. Hook has a poisoned heart that pains him when he gets too close to his daughter

General hospital April 2021. Harrison Chase is poisoned and it lasts for a while.

Dark Angel season 2. Logan Cale is infected with a genetically targeted retrovirus that is activated when Max touches him. Basically her touch poisons him.
