i know everyone is praising ify for how he’s playing this season and i do think he is slaying but some of his moves kinda bother me😭😭😭i didn’t like how he took all the drug juice i feel like brennan obviously had a plan for how that was gonna work with persimmon dead AND everyone would’ve got a cool moment with the drugs but he kinda just took it :/ obviously it worked out and it did lead to that convo w liv and russell but idk i felt like jacob in that moment and i’m not even playing LMAO like i would rather have just seen what brennan was gonna do and got to see how everyone was gonna take it

Okay, there's actually quite a lot I love about Apocalypse, I rescind my anger on Mystique cause while I find her frustrating, and the under utilization of her power in general this movie, her character progress makes sense. Things I wish the movie did:
Acknowledge Mystique specifically went out looking for her SON, and brought him to Charles knowing he'd be safe there.
Didn't give Erik a wife and child, he really has enough misery in his life, like damn, poor guy. Maybe just show him just starting to accept humanity.
Killing Alex SUCKED. UNNECESSARY.
Letting Peter tell Erik he's his son.
Like I stated in my last post (I know I keep making lists lmaoo), get rid of Moira, she was quite literally there to "no homo" all the intimate events between Erik and Charles. Like, Erik literally turns his back on Apocalypse because of his love for Charles.
Less earthly destruction. This whole "bigger is better" trend in movies is what fucking ruins them. I wish it was more down to earth like the rest of their movies.
Making it obvious that all Apocalypse's henchmen were being strongly influenced by him. To the point I'd say those specific crimes were definitely not their fault. This is the reason he grabs Charles too, complete control over his henchmen, rather than catching them when their emotions are heavily clouding their judgement.
Other than that, chef's fucking kiss, the way Apocalypse looked through Erik's mind, SAW Charles, and called him "the answer". 10/10 CREEP! LOVE IT. Shaw did the fuckin SAME. Love that. God I wish Erik was there to see Charles stop breathing, and PANIC, NOT FREAKING MOIRA. UGHHH.

Silly Game Time: Who are some of your favorite alien (non-human *and* extra-terrestrial) characters? And what do you like about them?
They can be from sci-fi or fantasy, from other worlds or dimensions or realms. All that matters is that they're not from Earth and that they're not human in any traditional sense (and, most of all, that you find them interesting).
MY FAVOURITE ALIENS. i've been a little bit in love with space since i was 9.
firstly for the definitely non-human:
the doctor. of course. and literally everyone from his show. the weeping angels. the sky fish. nardole. missy. romana. the ood. the list goes on
um. bumblebee. 😅
star wars creatures
estraven from le guin's the left hand of darkness.
d'lacey's erth dragons are from the planet ki:mera
those martians in the war of the worlds. i had a h.g. wells kick halfway through high school. this wasn't my favourite of his works, but it was fun.
and for the recognisably human, but still extraterrestrial, because i really wanted to include these guys:
mara of the acoma from feist & wurts' empire trilogy. she is one of my favourite fictional women ever. in the context of her own series, she's not an alien, but in the context of the riftwar saga (which was published first and contain more elements of feist's mainline plot than the empire trilogy), she is, so. i think she counts.
the mandalorian. i'm not immune to single fathers... or general badassery...
darrow from brown's red rising. born on mars.
todd from the knife of never letting go (book) / chaos walking (movie). i have fond memories of going to see this at the drive-in with a friend when it came out.
actually, this list is shorter than i thought it would be 🥺 there's a couple of other books/movies i love about space but they're all human-focused and mostly about astronauts. if anyone has any recs pretty please drop them below?

Every year for the month of October I make a movie calander- one horror movie a day, every day, for the entire month. My problem now, is that after three years of doing this- I'm starting to..... well, run out isn't the right way to put it... but it's starting to feel like I've seen most of the big hitters.
So the question I'm throwing out there is:
Fans of horror, what movies would you reccomend for this year's October watch?
I'm looking for anything and everything. I will watch silent black and white films. I read subtitles and I'm not opposed to hunting down a niche foreign horror/thriller. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE SPOILERS I would like to go into the movies blind (trigger warnings are very welcome, though)

i probably will end up making a post about how all these movie picks are SUPER fucking relevant (i know whoever chose these picks for van were laughing their asses off the whole time) but im particularly obsessed with varsity blues…. if you haven’t seen it, it’s a sports movie about an american football team trying for a championship title. after the starting quarterback gets severely injured, the backup quarterback is thrust into a leadership position.
the whole movie ends with the team taking a unified stand, led by the backup, against their coach and together they force him to leave. the players then autonomously lead themselves to victory in an unconventional way etc etc
anyways just thinking about the season 2 finale with coach ben and nat. for reasons.

I feel like every review of the Barry series finale that's like 'it was just meh...' is intentionally missing the point cause if they actually had to confront 'hey we as a country venerate service members to an insane degree when, just like normal people cause that's what they are, some of them are bad people. we will jump through hoops to absolve any wrongs these people commit. the police do get it massively wrong sometimes. justice is not always dished out. and we will make a butchered spectacle out of a tragedy for ticket sales.' they wouldn't get many clicks.....

"what if the writers strike effects my favorite shows. ill literally die" is so unfathomable to me. we literally live in a golden age of access to a whole bunch of old media. you will survive

@fromthemouthofkings re: your tags: yeah i know them by reputation and i'd probably be on board already (prequel? tragedy? villain backstory? crumbling fucked up society? CRINGEY MELODRAMA? 👀) if not for the fact that they are. prequels. and what i've seen of the original trilogy didn't do anything for me. 😔
so yeah basically all that stands between me and being my most annoying self is three movies' worth of homework. but god am i good at avoiding homework. but maybe i'll push through it this time! who knows
