I personally don't think Luffy is the reincarnation of joyboy or that he was fated the nika fruit. But I also do believe that the fruit choose him for who he is and that he is joyboy in all the ways that matter. Why was joyboys history hidden? Because he could be a figure rallied behind? No. Joyboys story was hidden because he is an option. An instruction. The possibility of living your life freely without anything holding you back. And Luffy chose that, became joyboy not because he was the same dancer but rather because he is dancing the same steps to the same music as joyboy and nika once did. He might have become something else but the person he is now, the person who vowed to become the most free person in the world, is something more, is nika, is joyboy, is a king

salem pls pls pls go on the rant about Neverar's death I NEED it
oh how thou enable mine soul. i apologize in advance because i am scatter brained and bad at formulating my thoughts (doesn't help that this topic is so weird) but here we go.
OKAY. so. i'm gonna start with foundations that i'll reference throughout this. starting with seht, specifically, seht's eso dialogue. i will link the uesp page HERE (ref point 1) to keep from having to copy-paste big swaths of text. i'll also link ayem (ref point 2) and vehk's (ref point 3), PLUS ayem (ref point 4) and vehk's (ref point 5) morrowind pages. if anyone wants me to snip the exact dialogue i'm referencing, please just lemme know.
SO. some main principles i want to draw from all of those are:
seht is upset about but accepts his place as a npc. he knows he is a npc, he knows he cannot change this, he just seeks to try to affect what he can. (ref point 1)
vehk knows he is a NPC and wants to be the Prisoner, aka the player character, because the Prisoner can be anyone, whereas he can only be vehk. (ref point 1)
almalexia seems to share the same knowledge as the other two, but denies it in favor of attempting to create her own narrative. (ref point 1, 4, and 5)
next, we'll talk about our beloved lorkahn, freak extraordinaire, god of mortals, spirit of nirn. his uesp page will be ref point 6.
obviously, lorkhan's heart is tied to nerevar's fate. it's tied to SO many fates--the tribunal, the nerevarine, dagoth ur, nerevar, the dwemer, etc which is rather fitting for the god of mortals i think. (i also won't go into my ramble about nerevar's parallels with lorkhan because that's a whole other ordeal)
vehk claims that nerevar and dumac fought and fell from the wounds inflicted upon each other. simultaneously, vehk straight up admits to killing nerevar (ref point 5), then just as easily says no, they didn't, actually (ref point 5) and says that that's just a lie spread by alandro sul. vehk is an infamously unreliable source. he lies as easy as he breathes, if not easier.
the battle of red mountain is an entire fucking thing. i really cannot even try to explain what happened during it because of the conflicting sources (see: the previous paragraph where vehk vehks ominously) but we DO at the very least know that the heart was struck, the dwemer disappeared, and nerevar died. whether or not he died DURING the battle or AFTER isn't entirely clear; again, conflicting sources.
aaaaaaaand then, there's dagoth ur. he loves nerevar, he hates nerevar. nerevar betrayed him, he betrayed nerevar. again. conflicting fucking sources. yet another "entire fucking thing" that i can't really go into detail on because i would derail myself so fast.
whatever happened at the battle of red mountain, at least two things are certain: nerevar died and the dwemer disappeared. we genuinely do not know what happened. is it likely the tribunal killed nerevar? yes, it's incredibly likely. but we do not have a 110% concrete answer of "yes, the tribunal absolutely killed nerevar" because even the tribunal don't seem to genuinely know. i think it's part of what is driving them out of their minds. even they don't know. because, like seht mentions/implies, they are bound to the will of the writers and the writers have not given any concrete answers.
i am personally a fan of the idea that it was a dragon break kind of situation, where all realities are simultaneously true and false, because it just feels the most...right, to me.
i had to significantly trim this because oh my god i rambled so much but. tldr we don't know and probably never will. also please nobody yell at me it's 4 am here and i'm just doing this

Pick-Me Dagoth (Continued from post below)
Imagine. Dagoth Ur returns. You already have two hunky mer companions. Nebarra, sexy magician sellsword clad in full elven armor head to toe, and Teldryn Sero, also sexy magician sellsword in full chitin.
[What the hell, Nerevar!! Moon and star!!!!!1!1!!!! I have abs too you know, and you can actually see them!!!!!! Have I not been loyal to you????!?!?!]
Dagoth is probably a "There can only be one." type of mer. The other two better watch their backs. He's a hair's breadth away from snapping and disposing of the... distractions... so that you can finally live happily ever after!!! Finally!!! After several thousand fucking years!!!
The three of them sit down in a tavern while you're off questing alone and get wasted because you decided to go without them. They still hate each other very equally but they're too in their feelings to do anything about it.
Long old husband wine discussions and arguments over which brandy is the best.
He's been around for several eras of course he has the most educated opinion *sniff*.
He can understand Teldryn Sero he's a fine dunmer specimen but what the hell is up with the golden prick Neverar??!?! Do you really miss the Chimer race so much that you'd settle for a far inferior mer??!?!
Well anyway to be continued...

It's been sooooooo long since I've published any artwork in a bit. So the first, second, and last sketches are original characters for a novel and the third sketch is just my Bosmer Neverarine OC Roxanna Fireshield and Neverar's ghost.

In your dreams, a tall figure in a golden mask spoke to you: Lord Neverar Indoril, Hai Resdaynia! Long forgotten, forged anew! Three belied you, three betrayed you! One you betrayed was three times true! Lord Voryn Dagoth, Dagoth Ur! Steadfast liegeman, faithful friend, bids you come and climb Red Mountain! Beneath Red Mountain, once again, break your bonds, shed cursed skin, and purge the n'wah from Morrowind!

"you dream by waking up in a room, you are in a soft bed and the place is dark, you notice it's dark outside, night time, you gaze around the place to see a tall figure smoking weed, he askes "sweet neverar, are you ready for the second blunt?" before waking up into the real world"

Do you have any songs you associate with the tribunal? (And neverar and voryn?) Also how tall do you think they all are?
i have an almalexia playlist and a vivec playlist and neither will make much sense outside of the context of my hyper-specific backstories for them but, hey. if i had to pick one song for each i'd go kate bush's 'get out of my house' for almalexia, adjy's 'praeposito' for vivec, and margot and the nuclear so and so's 'earth to aliens, what do you want?' for sotha sil. voryn gets franz ferdinand's 'dream again' (or 'lucid dreams' too tbh) while for nerevar i'm going to go iron and wine's 'beneath the balcony'.
as for heights. vivec is the shortest, almalexia is average height for a chimer, nerevar and voryn are both weirdly tall, and sotha sil has customiseable prosthetic legs so his height varies depending on how annoyed he is at almalexia on any given day

Random Nerevarine and Dagoth Ur completely not lore friendly interaction I wrote at midnight while on meds (btw my Nerevarine is a very fucked up middle age dunmer lady who gives zero shits about the prophecy) excuse all errors in this, I'm tired.
"Sharmat," her voice echoed through the chamber, Merezdis still wondered if she was making the right choice, she'd even downed a few shots of sujamma before entering, for luck, she told herself as the looming figure turned around and walked towards her, a humming of sorts coming from the face behind the mask, was it condescendance? Intrigue? A sick satisfaction of sorts?
"Have you come to talk, Neverar, most beloved?"
"I am no Indoril Nerevar, let alone a hero or…" screw it, damn it to Oblivion, all of it, she felt the mask on her face, one she stole from an ordinator in hopes of understanding the whole mantle issue, what would the Morag Tong say of her? A common criminal, a thief, "However I am here to talk, you got that part right."
Merezdis sat on the floor, put the mask away, the sound of metal against rock, the heat of the volcano suffocating her, the mer, whoever he was, Dagoth Ur or Voryn or the Sharmat, she cared not for titles, she cared for what he was capable of, "Very well," he said, following her move, she had to think how to even begin.
She told herself it was just like the old days, of giving herself some motivation before any big job and hoping for the best, "Had this been up to me, this would've ended sooner…"
"You could end this now, Nerevar, old friend."
"I am not—" was she not Nerevar? She liked– wanted, prefered, to think she wasn't, that she remained the same idiot found on a silt strider and raised by Ashlanders, the same stupid child who ran away and left the Morag Tong over simple thievery, not Indoril Nerevar nor the Nerevarine or Azura's new and shiny toy, she was Merezdis Sahaourdanu, a name that would remained hidden in history if it all went well, "I know who I was. In another lifetime. And I know who you were. Friend, lover perhaps," something on that word obtained the Sharmat's attention, she could tell, "I want you to know all I will do is not of my choice but Azura's. I am a tool, nothing else, nothing more, and I know for a fact the real Nerevar must be burning in rage for what I'm about to say. But fuck Azura."
More laughter, deep, rich, coming from the chest, "You should've seen your face, oh, what funny things you say, such blasphemy, never thought of you as capable of saying such words."
"Nerevar wasn't. I'm Merezdis however, the only Daedra I've served has been Mephala and even she has my judgement."
"I must admit I have missed our chatter, though it pains me how apart we have grown, complete strangers that we are, care to fill me up in the detail?"
Merezdis raised an eyebrow, looking at three eyes on a mask, a face she only has seen in vague flashes of memory from different lives, most of them show a rotting corpse, one, a Chimer of glowing red eyes and ebony hair with a grin of superiority calling out for everyone's favorite Hortator, she knew him, in the most superficial of ways, Voryn, was anything of him still there? "You mean my life?"
"I cannot simply follow each incarnation from birth to death, you never know where my beloved Nerevar would land each time."
She remained silent for a while, Dagoth Ur kept watching like a child would look at any adult showing an elaborate trick or telling an interesting story, she doubted hers would qualify as such, more like a badly written tragedy, "Grandpa was an ashlander, I think, got tired of it and moved to Cyrodiil, had a daughter, died, said daughter got pregnant and since the idiot father left she decided to go back to her father's people with a newborn," Merezdis shrugged, "That's what her diary said, you call us Ashlanders a bunch of savages but we have a code of no attacking an unarmed person, or a baby, she died because of raiders, I survived."
"Then you must have known. About all of this, what the false gods of the Tribunal did to you—"
"Let me finish!" First time she raised his voice at him, "Look at the stupid mark on my face, of course I knew, sort of, grew up with the prophecy and the Wise Women telling me all about it, yet I wanted no Nerevarine guarshit, I wanted to be like them. Sooner or later once the one from our clan had died… Old Irelenda was the only reason I had to stay, my only family. I never quite understood the fear and hatred my kind had towards the outside. What better opportunity to leave? Guess the skills I learned there were of use for the Morag Tong."
"So you…"
"Lived under the rule of the false gods? In a way, I was taught to hate them, at what use though? The Good Daedra were no better, same crap, different names, the Morag Tong was where nobody suspected a thing of a prophecy I never believed for myself. Now… don't ask me how, nor why, as not even I know, but something went sour in Cyrodiil, I was given a fake contract so my kill was not allowed, served some time for it, came back here… you know the rest."
More silence.
Silence.
Nothing but silence.
Broken by a single question, "You betrayed Azura?" There was indignation in that voice.
"I never sided with the Tribunal."
"You did nothing, having easy access to them!"
Anger.
"What was I supposed to do? Kill the living gods of Morrowind and risk being killed myself?"
"The prophecy—"
"To Oblivion with it!" She stood up, drew her weapon, "Once again, Dagoth Ur, or Voryn, or whatever name I ever called you before, had this been on me, none of this would've happened."
"They murdered you. Almalexia used poisoned candles and cut your feet. Sotha Sil used poisoned robes and cut your face. Vivec used poisoned incantations and pierced you with Muatra…"
"And you became the Sharmat. Cursed you, Dagoth Ur, as much as I curse Vivec, Almalexia and Sotha Sil. Idiots, all of you." She picked up her mask, the one meant to resemble the face she once had, looking at the ghost at her side, the resemblance was none, "Curse you, Indoril Nerevar, and Azura, Boethia, Mephala, the Heart of Lorkhan, kagrenac, all of you."
His voice was broken as he spoke, drowning with the sounds of the lava, the ground shook, she could see the Heart at the other side of the bridge, "You are breaking my heart, Nerevar, over and over again."
"You see him too? I've felt his fear, his anger, he curses all of you, yet the mer has that bit of love for every single one of you bastards, if only I could talk my way out of this…"
"Time for talking has ended, you are testing me, how tiresome this can be…"
"Had I done anything sooner… no…" she shook her head, "Get the four of you in a room and expect anything good to happen, huh… maybe that's why Azura leaves me no choice," Merezdis saw the red glow of magic in Dagoth's hands, Akulakhan, the trembling of the volcano, "I am but a tool, it doesn't matter how much I avoided this, Azura kept pushing me towards this outcome, and I suppose she prefers blood over dialog. What a shame, isn't it?"
Perhaps that mer who hugged him when sleeping and tied back his hair, the one who brought him flowers and jewels and would burn the world in the name of Indoril Nerevar, perhaps that mer saw the ghost of the champion of Azura stepping back, shaking his head, uttering Chimeri words of disapproval. Another nail for the coffin.
"You deliver the first hit, Nerevar."
Sun, sand on bare feet, light robes, young, wooden swords and spears, the volcano was far away, skin not ashen but golden, days long gone was what her eyes saw, a phrase that only the two of them knew had escaped her lips, "I'm gonna knock off that stupid mask off you, Voryn."

My grief addled heart wanting to draw parallels between Dagoth Ur and the Nerevarine to the Last Dragonborn and Nebarra... This is overly complicated I understand if you don't want to read it lol
Tumblr media
Warning: Some Morrowind and Skyrim spoilers/ lore ahead, mumbo jumbo I'm sorry if I'm not making sense. Same for Nebarra's backstory but the spoilers are very vague.
Nebarra, descended from the true Aldmer, potentially mixed somewhere along the way with the last of the true Chimer.
(The Chimer: Dagoth Ur's and Nerevar's extinct race, closely descended from the Aldmer) that could account for Nebarra's so called 'racial impurities'. The irony there being he'd have a close genetic link to the original Aldmer that the modern Altmer wish to emulate. (The Chimer were cursed by the Daedric Prince Azura and are now modern day dark elves, but they used to look like Altmer with fair hair and skin.) His quest is rooted in Solstheim. Maybe his soul is called to the Heart of Lorhkan still. Maybe it still longs for their past lives in Morrowind. The Last Dragonborn, bloodline unclear or sullied in reincarnation like the Nerevarine. Given a bad lot in life. Always the toy of higher powers.
They are both ill-fated individuals, reincarnations. The Dragonborn containing the essence of 'divine' dragonblood. Perhaps Neverar was also a dragon-hearted individual, drawing parallels to the divine heart of Lorhkan that corrupted Dagoth Ur. Much to do with hearts which pump blood, and divinity.
Many mortal incarnations that come in times of great strife.
The previous outside lover that prevents the two souls from connecting, once Nerevar's wife the betrayer, then Nebarra's grief-stricken heart who lost his first love to a tragic death. Again the parallel of the broken and betrayed hearts. Big emphasis on hearts here.
The parallels aren't a perfect one to one but all the elements are there. Mortals desperately wishing to return to divinity. Reincarnation. Betrayal, death, obstacles. Man and Mer. Lorhkan as a good and evil force. A betrayer. A life giver.
The accursed realms of Mundus and themes of the dead rising to life. What if this has been the tragic love story (friendship? Longing?) of two souls fragmented from before the world of man and mer, meant to incarnate and find each other again and again? Aspects of the dead divines now incarnated to haunt the divine corpse of Lorhkan that is now the Earth they walk on?
Same seeds, different soil. Different times, different places. Same souls, different bodies. The horrific part about this is that they're always separated. Sometimes not even born together or surviving long enough to find one another. In the tragic one in a million chance they do, often they'll eventually have to wrench themselves from the other in order to fulfill a prophecy and sacrifice themselves by the will of the divines (or the daedric lords as their toy puppets.) The Aedra are dead. You are in spirit the whispers of their corrupted dream. In flesh, he as an Altmer is what has become of their blood. Two halves of the same coin. Mortality and Divinity.
I could really stetch this so far, but I see how I'm kind of dragging Nebarra out of his intended role. Just an AU thing I thought of. You could technically place anyone in his role but I wanted to write more Nebarra content lol
I could definitely write a quest that hints to past lives forgotton and the karma/shared fates of these two tortured beings as a romance storyline if we're being honest here. Big emphasis on broken hearts.
They are so sad and love each other your honor.

Okay... Here is Voryn... After Nerevar struck him with his sword. @hircines-little-hunter and me are having the headcanon that Voryn was in a very paranoid dream like state after he has used the tools. Hearing the sound (or voice) of the heart in his head, giving him instructions what to do (for example carving an eye like shape in his forehead), and he didn't really realize what he was doing until nerevar dealt him a fatal wound. Voryn comes to his senses and fully realizes what he has done and what neverar just did to him. 8)
It's still a wip...but i Kinda like it.

After having defeated Dagoth Ur you find yourself with more questions than answers. Where did the heart go? What really happened at Red Mountain? And did Azura really bless you or were the fumes from Red Mountain just screwing with your head? You're not sure, but you're starving for answers, food, and hopefully a year off from doing anything ever again. Just your luck though, you're not getting that. Instead you're getting a meeting with Vivec, many opportunities to see just how much people don't give a shit about you, and a series of ever stupefying conundrums and circumstances that honestly you're too tired to deal with.
And also some sex.
That too.
 You hate this stupid island.
I decided to redo chapter 2 because it was bothering the hell out of me since I posted it. Now, at least in my opinion, it sounds loads better.
I’d have to guess it sounded weird cause I had a hell of a time getting the chapter written since it’s more of an intro than anythign too meaty. Plus I didn’t write it in like big sustained writing sessions, rather I just wrote bits of it at once. Hopefully now it’s much more polished!
Also chapter 3 is on the way! It should go quicker as I’ve had it in mind for a while longer than chapter 2.
