“Damn it, rookie! I instructed you to stay put and wait for orders!” Anakin scolds harshly as he drags you by the back of your tactical vest despite your protests.
“Yeah but if I did that,” You wince between words, keeping a hand pressed firmly against the wound on your left bicep, “I’d be trying to drag your ass out of there instead.”
His eyes narrow in response as he starts to undo the Velcro on your vest. “Thats not the point. You deliberately disobeyed directions from your commanding officer.”
You roll your eyes, feeling lighter with the weight of the vest off, taking a seat on the makeshift cot. Anakin pulls a chair over and sits down in front of you. You let out a hiss of pain as his large hand wraps around your injured arm, pulling it closer to inspect. “Take your jacket off.” He orders you, unclipping his own vest.
You comply, undoing your tactical jacket and pulling it off, biting your lip as the fabric brushes against your injury. You miss the way his eyes drift down your form for the briefest second. With the material out of the way, he comes closer once more to examine your arm. “You got lucky. The bullet only grazed you,” He turns it over in his hand, “Needs stitches though.” He mumbles.
“Stitches?” You repeat back.
His blue eyes move up to your face, the only thing you’re ever able to see from under that damn balaclava he wears all the time. He nods his head, “Mhm. Stitches.”
He undoes one of his pockets and pulls out the field first aid kit. Before he goes to mend your wound, he first pulls out some antiseptic to clean it off. He lets out a grunt hearing the noise of discomfort you make. “You can take a bullet but draw the line at a little disinfectant.” He observes but there’s a small lilt of amusement behind it.
You roll your eyes, not dignifying it with a response. He plucks the needle out of the kit and threads it. His eyes catch your’s briefly, “Ready?” He asks.
With a confirming nod of your head, he feeds the needle into your flesh. You clench your teeth at the pull of your skin. “Maybe if you actually listened, this wouldn’t have happened.” He mutters.
“You keep acting like I wanted this to happen.”
“Seems like you did. If you had just followed orders-“
“Yeah I know I know, if I just followed your orders this wouldn’t have happened.” You finish the sentence for him.
He huffs, giving a little sharper tug on the thread instead of verbalizing a response right away.
“Hey!” You scold him but he ignores you completely, continuing to mend you up.
“You can’t keep running off, half cocked every mission. Your luck is going to run out one of these days and it’s not gonna be a bullet grazing your arm. It’s gonna be lodged in your skull, or you’re gonna step on a landmine and get yourself blown up.” He snaps at you.
“I can handle myself just fine.”
“Jesus Christ! It’s not about you being able to handle yourself if you’re so damn stubborn and ignorant to your own actions!” His reactions causes another sharp tug of the thread making you yelp.
“Okay god, sorry I wasn’t thinking-“
“Exactly you weren’t thinking. Because you never do. You don’t care about anyone but yourself.”
Your eyebrows pull together in confusion as you look down at him still suturing your wound, not even sparing a glance up. He seems almost too focused as if he’s keeping himself from looking anywhere but at you in the moment. Where was this coming from?
A tense silence falls between you two as he finishes sewing the torn skin back together. He regrets snapping at you like that. It’s just that as much as he doesn’t want to admit it, you’re one of the only people he finds himself caring for but god damn it you’re too stubborn for your own good. He ties off the thread and cuts the excess off.
“There.” He mumbles after placing a gauze pad on it, putting the supplies away while pushing the chair back away from you rather abruptly. It’s like he couldn’t get away fast enough. His chest was feeling oddly tight at the mere thought of losing you.
You stay quiet as you stand up and start to pull your jacket back on. You sneak a glance at him, wishing you could gauge exactly what he was feeling underneath that face covering.
“No more close calls,” He speaks up finally, his words stern, more so than usual. He points an accusatory finger at you, “You need to start at least acting like you care about the rest of the squad.”
Why won’t he let this go? “I DO care so drop it already, Jesus.” You respond exasperated. You attempt to step past him but his hand comes up and grips onto your non injured arm, stopping you.
“You don’t get it do you?”
Your face scrunches up in confusion, “What?” You try to pull your arm out of his hold but he doesn’t let you, instead tightening it. “Let go of me.”
He shakes his head and steps closer so your chests are almost touching. “No. You don’t get to just walk back out there acting like nothings wrong.”
“What the hell are you even talking about?”
He scoffs and rolls his eyes behind the mask. “So now you’re not just selfish, you’re clueless too?” God, he couldn’t even tell if he was more frustrated with himself or you at this point.
“Clueless?” You shake your head, “Do you hear how ridiculous you sound right now? I saved your life from a bullet out there and you’re insulting me? You should be thanking me!”
“Thanking you??” He raises his voice in disbelief, “I should be thanking the only person I care about for making a reckless decision that could have costed them their life???”
The words hit like a ton of bricks, you blink in response. He realizes too late what he’s said. He wishes he could take them back and shove them way down again but he can’t. He just gets to let them hang in the air like this. He releases his grip on your arm, hanging his head in thought, taking a step back.
You struggle to process his admission. He cared about you? He cared about you?? You start to shake your head, “I don’t understand.”
Anakin sighs and turns around to face you again. There’s no ignoring this now. He has to face it head on. He’s been shot, tortured, and held prisoner before but somehow this is the hardest thing he’s done. “I care about you, okay?” He huffs out, folding his arms across his chest.
“I…I didn’t know..” You say quietly, “why didn’t you tell me before?”
“Because I didn’t want to. I…” He swallows thickly, “you make me weak.”
You almost couldn’t believe what you were hearing from him. He always seemed so stoic but here he was, doing his equivalent of confessing to you. You shake your head gently, “That doesn’t make you weak..it makes you human.”
He shakes his head, “No, it makes me weak. It makes me weak because the thought of losing you guts me. Because anytime we’re sent out together I already know that I’d lay my life down for you in an instant even if it jeopardizes everything.” You can see the conflict in his blue eyes, “And then I have to deal with you trying to be some god damn hero?? I won’t lose you that way. I’m supposed to protect you.”
Your face pulls into a slight scowl the more he rags on your decision. “Did it ever occur to you that maybe, just maybe I care about you? Or are you the clueless one now?”
It’s his turn to be taken back. You cared about him? “Don’t lie.”
You shake your head. “I’m not lying.” Why didn’t he believe you?
He steps closer again, closing the rest of the distance between you two. “Say it again then.” His voice comes out a low rumble.
“I care about you, Ghost.” Your voice is soft. So soft and it eases that tightness in his chest.
“Anakin.” He corrects you.
Your face softens when he shares his name. “I care about you, Anakin.”
Hearing his name come from your mouth stirs something inside of him and his breathing gets heavier. Tentatively he reaches a hand up to brush a stray piece of hair away from your face, his eyes searching for any bit of hesitancy.
He leans his face a little closer, “Tell me to stop,” he murmurs. When you make no move to pull away, he takes that as a green light.
He slips his mask up just over his mouth so he can capture your lips in a searing kiss that makes you dizzy. Feeling you return the kiss he deepens it by slipping his tongue past your lips. You whimper into his mouth, wrapping your good arm around his neck to pull him closer while you rest the hand of your injured one on his chest. His hands wrap around your waist backing you up against the wall so you’re pressed firmly between him and it.
His kisses become more desperate, needy. He dips his head down to trail his lips along your jaw and down the side of your neck, nipping at the delicate skin. He feels his pants tightening when you moan. This isn’t where he wanted this to happen for the first time but he’d be stupid to pass it up. His hands let go of your waist to undo your jacket again, sliding it off your arms. He breaks the embrace to pull his own off. You try to steal a glance at the exposed lower half of his face but he angles his head in a way you can’t.
Anakin’s hands reach out and cup your face bringing you back to him, the kiss hungrier before. “Wanted to do this for so long.” He rasps.
If it weren’t for his hold on you, your knees would have buckled. His hands move down, the tips of his fingers dip under the hem of your compression shirt teasing the skin there before pulling it off over your head. His touch floods your body with warmth and you feel that ache between your legs growing stronger.
His lips find your’s again while skilled hands undo your pants. You feel so vulnerable and exposed to him like this, but you want this. So much. All the lingering stares made sense finally. You tug on his shirt, wordlessly telling him to take it off. He chuckles and leans back to pull his shirt up over his head. Your eyes flick down and take in his built physique. The years of service is evident on his body, scars all over it. You subconsciously lick your lips.
“Like what you see, rookie?” There’s no mistaking the smugness in his tone.
Your cheeks flush instantly but you nod your head. A shit eating grin spreads across his face and you’re able to catch it but still wish to see his full face, to know fully what he looks like. The sound of his belt unbuckling pulls you out of your thoughts. Your eyes drop down to the noticeable outline of his erection in his black boxer briefs.
He wastes no time in reaching behind you to unclasp your bra, staring unashamedly at your bare breasts before palming both of them with his rough hands. “So perfect.” He praises you. A moan slips out of your lips as his callouses graze your pebbled nipples. He pinches the sensitive buds between his thumb and pointer finger and tugs on them enjoying how you squirm.
His hands drop down to move over the wet patch on your panties. “So wet for me..” He coos almost mockingly. He grips the back of your thighs, squeezing to signal you to hook them around his waist.
You keep your arms around his shoulders and jump up into his strong arms, wrapping your legs around his waist. You gasp as the action causes your covered clit to brush against his erection.
A hand drops down between your bodies, moving your panties to the side to give him access before he fists himself out of his underwear. He teases his tip through your folds, mixing both of your arousals together. You shiver at the feel, tightening your hold on his shoulders a little more.
He angles his hips up and eases himself into you, groaning as your velvety walls welcome him. You mewl, clawing at the cuffs of his shoulders as he stretches you out. “Shit..” He hisses.
A guttural moan is pulled from the back of his throat when he bottoms out. Your mouth hangs open, eyebrows knitted together tightly at the feeling of being so full. He wastes no time before he starts rocking his hips into yours, not starting slow. He’d been bottling these feelings up for so long he can’t wait anymore.
As he picks up his pace, the speed of his hips unrelenting as your back drags against the wall. Moans fall from your lips freely as he spears you on his thick cock. The angle causes the tip of his dick to kiss your cervix with each thrust. “..s-so full..” You whimper
“Yeah? Like being split open on my cock?” He grunts into your ear, nibbling on the lobe.
You nod your head rapidly back and forth, “Mhmmm..” You whine.
“Taking me so well...so good.” He praises you.
You claw at the flesh of his back, desperate to be closer somehow despite him being deep inside of you. You can hear the squelching of your fluids together with each thrust.
His movements start to grow sloppier as he gets closer. His left hand leaves your thigh for a moment to reach up and pull his mask off his face the rest of the way freeing his sweaty face before you. Despite the heaviness of your lids you fight them to open all the way to look at his face finally. Your mind made up countless ideas of what he could have looked like but none of them came close. Your walls squeeze down around him harder.
“Jesus..gonna make me cum baby..” He grits out, his hips slowing as your tight pussy makes it harder for him to move.
“Sorry..sorry..” You pant.
He chuckles and shakes his head, “Don’t mind the ego boost, sweetheart.” He speeds his movements back up and the coil in your stomach winds impossibly tight. Your hands rake through his hair now that you can touch it. He moans as you tug. “Want you to cum for me..think you can do that, rookie?”
Your head lolls against the wall, nodding in answer. A hand reaches up and grips your face forcing you to look at him. “Use your words.” He tuts.
“Y-yes…yes..’m gonna cum for you..”
He grins and snaps his hips harder into your sopping pussy. “C’mon…c’mon..” He pants into your ear.
The coil inside of you snaps and your walls clamp down tighter around him, your pussy gushing around his dick. You let out a wail as you unravel, nails digging deep into the meat of his back. He lets out a growl as he buries his cock deeper, hot white strings of sticky cum coating your walls. He bites down on your shoulder harder enough to leave a mark.
Breathing heavy, you both stay like that for a minute before he pulls out and lets you back to your feet, keeping you steady as your legs are shaky. You allow yourself to openly stare at his still exposed face, taking in everything the mask has ever hidden.
“Don’t get used to it.” His voice sounds and pulls you from your thoughts.
“What?” You ask.
He pulls his pants back up, buckling the belt, “This.” He states simply.
You start to shake your head. He really just let you in a little and fucked you and now he’s just dismissing you again? “But-“ Your words are cut off by him tossing you your clothes back.
“That’s an order rookie.” The words come out sounding laced with a kind of sadness and longing despite being said with a finality. That tightness in his chest comes back again seeing the expression on your face. He steps closer and his eyes rake over you for a moment before cupping the back of your head and pressing his lips to your forehead softly.
He steps back and pulls the mask on again, shielding his face once more from you before he’s putting the rest of his gear back on.
You’re left standing there processing every single thing that’s happened in the span of maybe an hour. He catches your eye again briefly. The guilt is easily noticeable in them, a silent ‘I’m sorry’ directed towards you.
With a sigh you dress in your uniform again, not looking at him again. Why would he let you in to shut you out again? He hates whatever this is making him feel even more than the yearning to tell you how he felt.
Once you’re both suited up again, you make your way towards the door. “Ready?” You ask, directing the question to him not even turning to look at him.
Anakin nods his head, feeling how different the air is between you two. Was it a mistake to tell you how he felt? Or was it a mistake closing himself off again? He watches as you open the door.
“Wait.” He tries to stop you, wanting to sort through the mess he made but you’re already making your way out. Shit. Now you’re closed off instead of him.
He realizes too late that he’s fucked up. All he can do is follow you out with a sigh and either accept this or figure out how to make things alright. You’re the only person he’s ever cared about and he fears he’s lost you for good.

alrightalrightalright what about an au where newly knighted obi-wan kenobi is working as a jedi on a hugely top secret project in the middle of nowhere, outer rim, with a very small amount of help from the jedi order and strict instructions to not let anyone know what he's doing - and one night he gets involved in something he has no business getting involved in but this is obi-wan, after all, he never can leave well enough alone. he's trying to bust and rescue a slave ring he uncovers (again, completely on accident, he just took a night off for a drink)
and he decides to go undercover himself to get back to where the (pleasure) slaves are being held so he can set about freeing them, but before he's done, smuggler anakin skywalker bursts in and rushes all of them onto his ship to get them away, taking well-meaning but solidly jedi obi-wan with him
but obi-wan IS under strict orders to not disclose anything about himself or why he was on the planet because this is a super secret jedi project....and anakin thinks he just rescued him from slavery, so it's not like he can just politely ask to be dropped back off roughly around the location he was picked up
and the longer they fly about the galaxy, the more obi-wan is hesitant to return at all. not that he has issues with the order or anything. not that he doesn't feel extremely uncomfortable lying to anakin about his past when anakin is being very kind and understanding and opening up about his own past as a slave....
but despite his duty to the order to return to that planet, despite the guilt he feels when he cannot be as honest with anakin as the smuggler is with him....he sorta...he sorta really likes the other man. he likes the type of freedom he's showing him. he likes the miniature missions they send themselves on. he especially likes the way he catches anakin looking at him sometimes from the pilot's seat, as if he's the biggest, most precious, most unexpected gift he has ever received

Anakin on trial would be the exact opposite of a guy providing evidence against other people to get a lighter sentence, he'd be constantly adding to his own charges.
"yes, I did all the imperial war crimes you're accusing me of, also I tortured princess Leia, and her husband, I regularly tortured people during the Clone Wars too, also maybe committed some acts of terrorism but the definition of "terrorism" tended to get lost on me so I'm not sure, also I killed or at least caused the death of Padme Amidala, and killed at least one of her handmaids and her main bodyguard, also I murdered a Jedi and stole his lightsaber, on that note I killed younglings during order-66, and on that note I slaughtered a village of Tuskens when I was 19, also- hey wait a minute does me living as "Darth Vader" without telling anyone I was Anakin Skywalker count as identity fraud?" it's abysmal.
Some people think this is a strategy to make his trial take longer, but he's actually just genuinely penitent and if anything wants this trial to speed up and sentence him already but this "due process" thing keeps slowing things down.
And when they tell him the can't find evidence for... half of the things he's saying he's just like "wait so I can get away with it if I just kill the witnesses and erase some files? that's pretty kriffed up guys."
And when they finally start debating a sentence it never seems enough for him, and then they find out what he experienced under the empire as Palpatine's right hand man and... sweet Light Side of the Force how can this guy still even speak coherently.
Prison, execution, exile, etc. all pale in comparison to the physical and psychological torture this guy has been living for the past 20~ years, but all of that would be mega-illegal to do to a anyone, even a war-criminal so... the dude's just going to have to suck up the New Republic's "mercy" (Re: actual gosh darn ethics) and move on.

There are some things that all troopers know Nat born's will never understand.
All the troopers grew up in a world where perfection was the standard and anything less resulted in death. Where individuality was a crime and being anything more than just another number was a danger, Where saying the wrong thing in front of the wrong person could get you killed.
All troopers know this, but post Kamino the Guards have had it drilled into them all over again. If they want to survive In the Senate they have to fall back on the lessons they learned on Kamino.
The Corries know that there are some things that nat born's will never understand. Things that Nat born's shouldn't understand.
So no one in the guard quite knows how to feel about the strange fallout of the Shiney squad's Jetti Cadets apparent discovery of the Guards position on Courcant.
It starts small, the guard notices that the boy stops being weird about the fact that most of the Corries don't use their names, when asked, the boys. "It's because I know that you have them now." raises more questions than answers, because apparently the boy just figured out that they used their designation numbers around the Senate because their names were a secret on his own. He also seemed to get an unreasonable amount of joy from the fact that all the clones chose their own names.
If it has stopped there then it probably wouldn't be so weird, but it didn't. From sneaking in extra medical supplies and food, (actual food, not just ration bars) when he discovered that 'depur' was cutting their budget for stuff that they needed to function, to the way he seemed to intrinsically understand their need for secrecy, and their reasoning for it. "secrets keep us safe." Without anyone seemingly telling him.
They all agreed that they weren't gonna ask about how the boy had managed to rangle several senators around to the truth of the situation and his point of view with only a few words to one of them. A point of view that not only had them working on trooper sentient rights bills, but also had them aiding in his more under the table helping.
At first it was weird and confusing, both because this kid was a nat born, and because how did a Jetti Cadet develop this kind of understanding, he was a child. It took them a while to connect the dots, Even as the boy started unconsciously dropping hints.
At first it was that weird little nickname he had for the Senate and Senators, in a language that even the most nerdy of Corries didn't seem to understand. They weren't sure what a Depur was, but apparently it applied to the Senate and was probably not a good thing.
The next clue was the stories, because as Anakin spent more time with the guard, becoming more of a Vod'ika than a Jetti Commander and subsequently beginning to learn more and more about the secrets that they kept from the rest of the Senate.
As the boy learnt about the lighter side of the inner workings of the guard, and how to speak the clones particular brand of Mando'a, the guards began to learn stories about Ekkreth, Leia and Ar Amu, stories about secret plots and tricking the The infamous Depur in ways that resulted in the freedom of those he enslaved.
About secret Languages, Tzai, Jappor snippets and secret rituals. About the ways one could steal back some control from the Masters in ways that they would never even notice. About things that the boy claimed that all Slaves should know, lessons that would help keep them safe from their Masters. A term that by now the guards suspended was not referring to the kind the Jedi had.
By the time the boy causally mentioned that he and his mother had been enslaved prior to him being taken to the temple, the Guards already had a pretty decent picture of the situation.
The fact that the boy had been adopting them into his own culture right under their noses had been vastly more surprising. He'd been a little awkward when he'd admitted it. Saying that he knew that they were sort of Mando'ade, but they could be Amavikka too if they wanted.
And sure, maybe it was a little dark that part of the reason the boy spent so much time in the barracks was because it felt familiar, but also this kid cared about every single one of them, to the point where he apparently sees them as family.
Well it really was no wonder that it was agreed that the entire guard would do just about anything for their Ad'ika. Including possibly stopping said Ad'ika from doing the same for them. (Bloody Skywalkers)

The Force
This is another, ‘the Force is fucking with us right?’ Kind of idea that I feel like makes up about half my ideas.
It starts just after Obi Wan Kenobi is beheaded on the death star. The Millenium Falcon has just exited the Death Star but has not jumped to hyperspace yet. The alarms have not quite rung when two things happen that derail the entire sequence of events.
First Obi Wan Kenobi and Cody (who had been on Alderaan when it was vaporized) appear, from apparently nowhere in front of Luke, Leia, and Han. They look like they did at the beginning of the Clone War (Obi Wan is still only just recognizable as Old Ben). The second is that Alderaan (and Scarif) reappeared, completely undamaged (I just want you to picture, for a moment, the operators and techs of the Death Star or anyone looking out of one of the viewports where the Planet they just vaporized-with all the detritus that entailed- reappeared unharmed).  Though it was not known right away every single victim of the Empire from the Purge forward (including the Clones) have reappeared, spread out throughout Alderaan.
Every single one of them have all their memories up to their deaths. Those that had been dead for more than a month also have some idea of what has happened since their death (taking into account age, mindset, and how traumatic the knowledge would be for them).
Everyone is still very confused.
On the Millenium Falcon, they do not jump to hyperspace because they are too busy gawking at the two men that just appeared (and everyone on board, barring the formerly dead men, is asking themselves some version of -does The Force work like that?). Then they notice that there suddenly is a planet where there had been a debris field.
Feeling more than a little bewildered, Han hesitantly begins to fly toward the planet and in the background CodyWan reunites after twenty years of believing the other was dead.  They are guided to the Royal landing pad by a few shaken techs who will be asking for a vacation and a raise.
Onboard the Death Star, the low level techs consider if they should call Darth Vader? Should they call the Emperor? Fire again (It would take time for the weapon to charge and no one is really sure a second shot would do anything if the planet was reconstituted the first time)?
Vader is still down in the hallways of the ship, feeling anticlimactic victory over Obi Wan’s robes and well away from any viewport when suddenly the Force is feeling much…fuller? Then it had been a few moments before.  The screaming that had been deafening since Alderaan’s destruction quieted and the crying he had been perceiving since killing the younglings had ebbed.
On of the comm techs hesitantly (so hesitantly, their speech was all full of all umms and errrs and they really hope that they do not piss Darth Vader enough for him to hunt the tech down-it would not be the first time something like that had happened) tells him that there was a Padme Amidala calling from the planet demanding to talk to him.
Vader manages to get out that she should be patched through. A large part of him is going PADME!!!!!!! A smaller part is going ‘there’s no planet here any longer?’
The conversations start with Padme going “ANAKIN NO MIDDLE NAME SKYWALKER” in a very pissed off tone. It does not get better for Vader from there.
This is not the same Padme at the end of ROTS, who had gotten so caught up in being in a romance novel that she was smacked in the face with the third act twist of it turning into a horror story.  This version of Padme has been watching for twenty years exactly what Anakin was doing, separated from her need to see the best in him. She is closer to her TPM self, and absolutely livid at Fascism done in her name. Padme is also, to her reckoning, back from the dead, about to meet her children for the first time, and possibly immortal (after what just happened…who knows).
Somehow Padme’s entire rant is broadcast throughout the Death Star. None of the stormtroopers know who this person is but they have a deep instinctual need to surrender (Even Tarkin does not recognize Padme after 20 years).
The Millenium Falcon lands on Alderaan. Leia grabs her parents and holds on, before anyone can say anything.  Luke sees Owen and Beru (also brought back, and to Alderaan) and does the same.  Obi Wan and Cody are off to one side holding each other (Obi Wan is basking in the Force being lighter than it has in 2 decades-though he does not know that rest of the Jedi are also back). Han hovering off to one side awkwardly.
Padme comes storming out, having just finished her…conversation with Anakin. Obi Wan jolted (being the only person currently paying attention who would recognize Padme-Also Bail and Breha had already had the ‘oh that kind of back from the dead’ realization). Padme strode right up to Obi wan and slapped him upside the head ‘that is for getting decapitated before telling my kids they were siblings’ then she hugged him.
After a long period of time, Luke and Leia separate enough from their adoptive parents to meet their mother. Also getting to realize that they were siblings.
After the current reuniting, and uniting, is over Padme says ‘Oh, Anakin will be coming down shortly, he has some things he needs to say’.
Obi Wan, the only other person who knows exactly who Anakin Skywalker is, goes ‘Padme…that may not be a good idea’
Padme gives a smile that could also double as a threat display, though not aimed at anyone present. ‘You need not worry, Obi Wan, Anakin will be spending the rest of his life making up for what he has done.’
For the first time Obi Wan considers that cutting off Anakin's limbs and leaving him to burn on the bank of a lava river was actually kinder than letting him face the full fury of Padme Amidala.
He did manage to communicate exactly who Anakin Skylwaker is. Thankful, at least, that Padme was there for the ‘Our father is Whom???’ Padme does reassure Leia that she did not have to be there and confront the person who tortured her and blew up her planet, but Anakin does owe them all at least one Apology. Leia promptly decides she would be there.
It is an Awkward set of meetings, not the least of which is because Mace Windu comes through with some of the formally murdered younglings (who all knew what they would be facing and wanted to confront their murderer). Vader (and he is still mostly Vader) is not sure why Padme Amidala is intimidating him, but he is going with it.
At some point someone brings up the Emperor. Padme makes that same smile, the threat display, and says that Palpatine should probably start running before she got to him. Far away Palpatine felt a chill along his spine…something had just gone very wrong.
There will be time to deal with the new metric ton of trauma. Seriously there are types of trauma that had never existed that they would have to develop therapy for. There are people to find places for that have been dead for twenty years.   There is still an Empire to dismantle.
But for now there is a man who is arguably the second most evil person in the galaxy awkwardly apologizing to his daughter (unknown) for torturing her and blowing up her planet, her adoptive parents for blowing them up, a slew of children he murdered, as well as an entire planets worth of people (many of whom he owes a very personal apology-also probably some kind of compensation), with his 5’3” formerly dead wife looking on.
Even the Force has no idea how we got here.

Some thoughts about my All Is Well AU I’d like to share (This is a Jedi-centric AU, so it’ll only involve them):
Palpatine and Plagueis die because of a failed experiment that turned on them (ironic, isn’t it?)
Since Palpy is dead, no War! But also no clones :(
Sifo-Dyas does not get mortally paranoid since no war is happening!
Him and Dooku get to be two old men in love.
Q’Tark, on one of her visits to her tribe on Tatooine, finds Anakin when he is 2 months old, too little to get his slave chip implanted, and so Shmi is able to give him to the Jedi.
When the Nightsisters gave Asajj away (like in canon) they also gave Maul with her. But their ship was intercepted by the Jedi, who saved them from the criminal and brought them to the Temple.
Reva Sevander becomes the second Padawan of Obi-wan
The Disaster Lineage is less of a disaster, and they’re all fine!
Anakin becomes Obi’s Padawan at 13, and gets knighted at 25 instead of 19.
So Ahsoka becomes Plo Koon’s Padawan.
Maul becomes Mace’s Padawan.
Ezra is still Kanan/Caleb’s Padawan.
Them, Depa, Maul, Mace and Cyslin (Mace’s master) all get together to drink tea and chat every two weeks.
Ahsoka eventually becomes Grandmaster of the Order when she’s 130 (I like the idea of Togrutas living for a long time)
BARRISS IS FINE AND IS A HEALER AND IS A RESPECTED MEMBER OF THE ORDER AND KISSES AHSOKA AND HAS HER OWN PADAWAN AND–
Ahsoka also gets a Padawan, and she gets to be the wise and crazy master she deserves to be

Time-travel/fix it AUs with Cal Kestis as the main protag will always be funny to me, especially when authors pair him up with the Disaster Lineage (usually as Obi-Wan's new padawan since Ahsoka ended up apprenticing under Anakin).
Mostly because:
1) I will always fuck with AUs where Obi-Wan gets a new padawan, regardless of whoever said padawan is.
2) The sheer comedic and potential angst/anxiety of everyone trying to navigate having an actual tiny, baby Jedi on the battlefield with them.
3) Cal just mentally trying to process the whole time-travel thing on top of being a padawan to HIGH GENERAL, JEDI MASTER, COUNCIL MEMBER OBI-WAN FUCKING KENOBI!!!!!!!
4) The opportunity for Anakin to struggle with possible feelings of jealousy over Obi-Wan having a new padawan and maybe slowly coming to accept Cal as a Jedi sibling (with helpful, or not so helpful input from Ahsoka-lol).
5) Obi-Wan having to wrangle yet another droid loving padawan with very obvious mental and trust issues and OH GOD HE'S JUST AS TINY AS ANAKIN WAS AND HOW COULD THE COUNCIL HAVE EVER APPROVED THIS-
But, most of all, what I love about this particular AU is the additional, optional layer of Cal somehow knowing (usually through psychometry) that Anakin is Darth Vader and just having to struggle to interact with his new Master's former padawan without letting anyone else know, that he knows--
--which then leads to baby Cal Kestis meeting Anakin the Skywalker for the first time and just sort of blurting out something to the equivlaent of "... don't fucking talk to me" and then screaming internally when everyone inevitably reacts to Obi-Wan's new padawan clearly hating/not taking a liking to Anakin at all.
Obviously, Ahsoka would think this is hilarious, Anakin would take it super personally and Obi-Wan would just feel exasperated/delighted/resigned at the fact that he has yet another rude padawan to take care of.
*fics recs under the cut*
For anyone who might be interested in reading fics with this particular AU, I can't help but recommend these two in particular:
a distant fire is burning by e_va (AO3)/@e-vasong (blog)
(I Promise) This Time Will Be Different by Nation_Ustria
Make sure to give these authors lots of love. They've done an excellent job with their writing :3
Update: Since this post has started to sorta blow up (at least way more than I expected WOW), I just wanted to take the opportunity to shout out another fave Time-travel/Fix-It fic that I also adore called:
Lost Property Box by Young_and_spitefilled/@constantlymisspelled
It's not a Cal joins the Disaster Lineage fic, but instead sees an older Cal Kestis return to a timeline way before the events of Phantom Menace. And what do you know, he gets to interact with baby Obi-Wan and other child versions of the Jedi he looked up to as a baby Jedi himself. It's pretty great. Definitely check it out :3

A Gift exchange
Stardew Valley au | farmer Anakin | Town doctor Obi-Wan
As he does most mornings now, Anakin takes Obi-Wan’s empty milk bottle from his doorstep and exchanges it for a full one from his cows. He wakes up early every day to milk his cows and come to the town early enough to beat the milkman to the bottle. Or most days. There are days when the animals need extra attention and he can’t get to the town early enough, or at all, but most days it’s Anakin’s cow’s milk Obi-Wan is drinking, and he also leaves some eggs and vegetables often for him.
Anakin is still crouching, empty bottle in his hand, when a sound makes him freeze. The front door to Obi-Wan’s house and clinic has just opened. Immediately to his right.
“Anakin,” Obi-Wan says. And Anakin doesn’t answer, trying not to look as mortified as he looks as he feels at being caught. Anakin looks up at Obi-Wan, and what he finds in his face is a bit confusing. There is surprise, but he also looks like he expected to see him here and is pleased to be right.
“Uhh… good morning. I was just-“ Anakin gestures with the empty bottle in his hand. Purses his lips. Looks away. Looks at Obi-Wan again.
“Leaving milk for me before the milkman comes like you do most days?” Obi-Wan asks.
“I… guess. How did you know?”
“You know I do have to pay for the milk, right? The moment he told me that he was not the one leaving the milk for me every day I immediately thought about you.”
Anakin’s heart jumps in his chest, because Obi-Wan immediately thought about him.
“I will have to pay you for it, of course.” Obi-Wan says, and puts his hand inside of his pocket.
“What? No! I don’t want you to pay me.” Anakin exclaims, finally standing up so he is at the same level as Obi-Wan.
“It’s the product of your work, I need to pay you.”
“Well I don’t want you to. It’s a gift.”
“I assume the eggs and vegetables are also gifts from you?”
Anakin shifts his weight between his feet, purses his lips so he can take a second to answer. He didn’t know Obi-Wan had also put that together.
“Well, yeah.”
“Anakin I have not done enough to deserve so many gifts.” Obi-Wan says, and he may be right, but Anakin can’t really say I wanted you to pay attention to me and court you but I didn’t know how to so this is the best thing I could think of.
“You have taken care of me.” He settles on saying. And it’s true, Obi-Wan did his check-up, and has taken care of him when he has overdone it because of the sun a few times.
Obi-Wan sighs and shakes his head, like he is resigning himself to not argue more, but still doesn’t agree with him.
“Wait here for a second please, I have something for you.”
“Wait, you don’t-“ Anakin starts to call out, but Obi-Wan is gone inside his house before he can say anything more.
Anakin waits, and wonders if maybe he should allow himself inside to wait. A woman across the street is looking at him, and she doesn’t return his wave. When the milkman arrives and shakes his head with a smile at Anakin as he passes the clinic, Anakin decides to let himself in. He is just closing the door after him, one empty bottle in one had and one full one in the other and wondering what to do with them, when he hears Obi-Wan coming down the stairs and he appears in the corridor a couple of seconds later.
“Oh, I left you outside, excuse my manners.” Obi-Wan says from behind a black box. He leaves the box on a side table, takes the bottle of milk from Anakin and leaves it next to it. He takes the box again and offers it to Anakin.
“This is for me?” Anakin asks eloquently.
“Yes. You can open it.” Anakin does as Obi-Wan continues talking, “it’s not much, really, but I thought that maybe you wouldn’t wear a hat because you didn’t have one and, as I understand, this is what people wear in Tatooine farms-“
Anakin stares at the cowboy hat inside the box, lifts it carefully to take a good look at it. It’s dark brown, the sides lifted slightly. The material feels good in his hands and when he puts it on it fits him perfectly.
“You got this for me.”
“Yes. I’ll understand if you already have one and just don’t like wearing it, but I honestly think you should wear a hat when you are out in the sun, I hoped this would be an incentive.”
It IS an incentive, because if it’s a gift from Obi-Wan, Anakin doesn’t think he will take it off again. Wearing the hat will be a reminder that the man thinks about him, cares about him in some degree. Anakin did have a hat like this back in Tatooine, but the material was not that good and he had lost it when he moved here. He had looked into buying one, but the cost of the shipping alone was too much for Anakin, still trying to get the farm going again, which reminds him…
“I can’t accept this,” Anakin says, taking the hat off, as much as it pains him.
“Why not?” Obi-Wan asks, genuinely confused. He doesn’t make a move to take the hat from Anakin’s offering hands.
“It must have cost you a fortune getting this here, it’s too much.”
Obi-Wan waves his words off with a gesture. “Take it as an exchange for all the things that you leave at my door. And it wasn’t that expensive, a friend of mine came back from Tatooine not too long ago and he brought it with him.” Obi-Wan puts one of his hands on top of Anakin’s with a smile, and Anakin’s heart skips a beat. Anakin relaxes his hands under the touch. He hadn’t realised he was holding the hat so hard. “Please, accept my gift, so I don’t have to constantly worry about you out in the sun when the weather is warm.”
“Okay,” Anakin agrees, “but you will tell me if you need anything, no going back to the store for things I can provide you with.”
“Deal,” Obi-Wan says, “but please lower the amount of eggs you leave at my door, I’ve run out of things to do with them and room to store them.”

Star Wars Modern AU 2020 the Animal Crossing Era
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So during 2020 they played Animal crossing new horizons a lot. Except Cody, although he played sometimes with Obi-Wan or watch him play (they live together).
Obi-Wan, Anakin, Luke and Leia are always in each other game or playing in the same room.
Same with Han, Lando and Lumpy.

Obi-dience - An Obikin, Ella Enchanted AU set in the GFFA
Inspired by a typo I almost made yesterday and what I think is a pretty good pun
Obi-Wan Kenobi is the perfect Jedi. A skilled warrior, an expert negotiator, and a good friend, it has always been clear that Obi-Wan has a gift. People often remark that no matter what is asked of him, Obi-Wan Kenobi can deliver.
That is his gift: whatever anyone tells Obi-Wan to do, he does. The gift of obedience.
Before Obi-Wan ever came to the Temple, fate or the Force or some Stewjonian witchcraft, blessed Obi-Wan with the ability and the compulsion to do whatever he is told. The perfect child, the perfect padawan, the perfect Jedi. He is whatever anyone asks him to be.
From the moment Obi-Wan becomes aware of his dubious gift, he finds ways to work around it. When the other younglings come up with ridiculous dares or tell him to hand over his slice of Shuura cake from the refectory, he has no choice but to comply. Instead, he rebels in other ways. He shows them up in his classes, he stages pranks as a kind of revenge, and he never, ever lets anyone know about his secret gift. He learns that compliance can be a malicious thing and that there can be a vast difference between what someone says and what they mean.
After shoving a slice of cake in someone's face, attempting to climb the tallest tree in the greenhouses, and interrupting a lesson by Master Nu with an impassioned recital of the Jedi Code at the top of his lungs before refusing to say another word, Obi-Wan is sent to Master Yoda, fearing for his future with the Jedi Order. He assumes that Master Yoda is going to send him away, to the Agricorps or some kind of orphanage for wayward almost-Jedi. Clearly, he is more trouble than he is worth.
But Master Yoda is more perceptive than that. He senses that the Force moves strangely around Obi-Wan and gets Obi-Wan to describe what it feels like when someone tells him to do something. What it is like to be helpless sometimes against the need to do what he is told.
Yoda doesn't tell Obi-Wan to leave the Order. One way or the other, that decision will be made for him, when a Master comes forward to take him on as a padawan or doesn't.
What he does say still manages to change Obi-Wan's life forever.
"A great and terrible gift this is, young one. Know that already, you do. Difficult, your life will be, because of it and harder, you should not make it.
'A secret, your obedience must be. Tell no one of your gift, lest they use it against you."
Obi-Wan blinks, eyes wide. His mouth hangs open for only a moment before the words come out, "Yes, Master."
From then on, Obi-Wan tries his best to keep his head down. He wants to become a padawan, dreams of one day being a Jedi Knight, and so he tries his best in his classes, learns to turn the other cheek when others attempt to rile him. He becomes kind and thoughtful, and surrounds himself with a few good and trusted friends, who, while playful and rambunctious, would never try to order him around.
His efforts pay off when Qui-Gon decides to take him as his padawan.
It takes Qui-Gon a long time to learn what makes Obi-Wan different from other padawans. This is mainly because Obi-Wan Kenobi is already so different from himself and so different from the boy Qui-Gon heard tales about from the crechemasters when Obi-Wan was in their care. He is quiet, though curious, and rule-following to a fault. Where is the rebellious boy that was nearly kicked out of the Temple for attempting to leap into the Serenity Pond at the center of the Room of a Thousand Fountains with all of his clothes still on?
This boy does what he is told and he never talks back, even when Qui-Gon desperately wants him to. After a few years, Qui-Gon resigns himself to the idea that the Council must see him as too much of a maverick even now and that when Yoda recommended Obi-Wan to him as a padawan, citing their similarities, it was an attempt to reign him in. The equivalent of pairing the talkative kid in class with the quiet one, in the hopes that some of the latter's goodness might rub off on the former.
That is, until Melida/Daan. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon are sent to rescue Master Tahl and become entangled in the conflict there. The role of the Jedi is to negotiate peace and until the Melida and the Daan are ready to do so, there is no place for the Jedi among them. Qui-Gon tells Obi-Wan it is time to leave and for once, Qui-Gon sees a fight on his young padawan's face.
His feet move toward the waiting ship's ramp in halting, laborious steps while his hands fist at his sides and his face tightens into a grimace. Obi-Wan reaches out for the nearest thing available to him, a crate of supplies in the hangar bay, and grabs on tight, even as the rest of his body tries to pull him towards the ship.
"No, Master. I can't!" Obi-Wan grunts as he loses his grip on the crate and flails for something else. "I can help them, I know I can. Please let me stay."
Qui-Gon watches in horror as Obi-Wan's body eventually wins out and he stands next to him on the ramp, clutching one of the pistons for balance. Whatever power held sway over Obi-Wan for those few fraught moments is gone as quickly as it arrived, leaving him red-faced and breathless in its absence.
He leaves Obi-Wan on Melida/Daan and puzzles over that scene at the ship's ramp long after the fight is over and Obi-Wan returns to the Order. He never quite manages to discover the secret of Obi-Wan's gift, but he is certain to never give him another order he cannot refuse ever again.
Even at the end of his life, when he has been cut down by Darth Maul and Obi-Wan has him cradled in his arms, Qui-Gon is sure to phrase his last wishes just so.
"He is the Chosen One, Obi-Wan. Will you train him?"
"I will, Master."
Training Anakin doesn't feel like a choice, at least not at first. Obi-Wan fights the Council for the right to train him, pushes past his own misgivings and sets aside his grief, not because he really believes in the prophecy in the way Qui-Gon did but because it was the last thing his Master ever asked of him.
At night, Obi-Wan wishes that Qui-Gon had ordered him to train Anakin, wishes that he knew how to do this one thing right. He silently begs the Force: if his obedience was ever good for anything, let it help him in this.
And yet, training Anakin is a choice, one he makes every single day. Harder at the start and then easier once he actually gets to know the boy. Anakin is stubborn and willful, scarred by his time as a slave in ways Obi-Wan will never fully understand. He doesn't make demands of Obi-Wan. He doesn't make demands of anyone. He is a kindhearted and curious boy who deeply misses his mother and has latched onto Obi-Wan like the last life-preserver on a sinking ship. It takes time for him to grow comfortable at the Temple, for him to trust that all that he loves will not be taken away from him a second time, and for him to grow into a teenager more secure in his place in the world.
The first time Anakin enacts Obi-Wan's gift against him, he is fifteen and they have been arguing. He has been sneaking out at night, fighting with one of the other padawan's, and is falling behind in his galactic history coursework. The bright and friendly young boy Obi-Wan met years ago has become sullen and moody, no more so than many other teenagers but something of an anomaly within the Temple.
Anakin stalks off to his room, slamming the automatic door behind him as best he can, and shouts at Obi-Wan through it to leave him alone.
It takes Obi-Wan a full day to realize what Anakin has done. He makes himself scarce in their rooms before Anakin wakes the next morning. He avoids meeting him in the refectory and after lessons. It is only when he cannot force himself to return to their apartments at the end of the day that he seeks out Master Yoda and begs him to contradict Anakin's order. He can't let Anakin think that Obi-Wan is so upset with him as to actually leave.
Master Yoda negates the command but before he lets Obi-Wan return to his quarters, he cautions him against allowing himself to become too attached to the boy.
This is where I think there is a lot of room to play around with this idea and probably where an actual story would take place with the rest as background.
While the premise of the fic isn’t doesn’t necessarily have to lead to obikin, that’s simply the lens through which I view the world so it does.
One night, when Anakin is still a padawan, he returns back to their quarters late after a night out where Obi-Wan is still awake and waiting for him. He stumbles into the room, brushing aside Obi-Wan’s concern, before landing on their couch instead of in his bedroom. He is drunk, clearly, but not so far gone as to be unwell. His limbs are loose and his smile is easy and he relents eagerly when Obi-Wan kneels down to pull of his boots in order to keep them off of the furniture. His eyes go wide and his smile falls as he sees Obi-Wan down there, his mouth forming a confused little ‘oh’.
Before Obi-Wan can ask what is wrong, Anakin says, “kiss me,” and Obi-Wan does. He presses up from his knees, leans over Anakin and kisses him.
It is a soft, quiet kiss on the lips. Neither of them moving beyond simple pressure. To Obi-Wan’s later shock and horror, the kiss feels good, feels right. Perhaps his mind reaches out to Anakin’s through the Force and borrows some of his alcohol-induced ease because his mind goes blank for the few brief seconds that their lips are connected, wholly at peace.
And then reality sets in and Obi-Wan pulls back sharply.
He steps back, nearly tripping over the low table in their sitting area, his hand barely grazes the skin of his lips.
“Never ask that of me again,” he tells Anakin.
And Anakin, not so far gone as to mishear the grief and heartbreak in his Master’s voice, never does.
As an adult, Obi-Wan's gift comes into play less. Few people really go around giving people orders. Obi-Wan becomes very good at stopping them before they start, redirecting people to other topics, and avoiding those who are prone to giving them.
Still, he doesn't expect Dooku to tell him to join him on Geonosis. (I think there's a really cool option where Obi-Wan goes with him or at least spends the early part of the war hearing him out) Anakin steps in almost immediately without realizing it, shouting 'no' which counteract the command.
The war itself doesn't pose as much of a problem as Obi-Wan and Yoda worry at the outset. Obi-Wan is the one giving the orders rather than receiving them and thankfully the droids' feeble commands to surrender have no effect on him.
His gift does still manage to get him into trouble on occasion. His banter with Ventress is especially charged as he parries her blades and her words. Anakin takes to leadership well, so well that on occasion he slips and manages to give Obi-Wan orders as well as his men. It doesn’t happen often, while Anakin has grown by leaps and bounds into a commander, a brother in arms, he still knows his place. Obi-Wan will always be his former master, a member of the council, and his superior. Still, when Anakin concocts a plan at a moment’s notice and tells Obi-Wan, “cover me,” before an oncoming barrage of battle droids or shouts “stay here” before running off into danger, Obi-Wan is forced to obey. It only leads to him getting shot at a handful of times.
No one but Master Yoda is aware of Obi-Wan’s secret. While Obi-Wan’s behavior is strange at times, defying explanation, no one questions it too much. He has always been this way. It would be stranger if these near misses and fits of willfulness didn’t happen to him even in the midst of a war.
When the Council asks him to go undercover as Rako Hardeen—asks not commands—Obi-Wan has reservations. Perhaps not the kind of reservations Anakin would like him to have, about the cruelty of faking his death and the convoluted nature of the plan, but about his own ability to carry out this mission and pretend to be Hardeen.
“Surely, my condition puts the entire operation in jeopardy,” he tells Master Yoda in private. “One ill-timed command and all is lost.”
“A strong and powerful Jedi you have become, young Obi-Wan, despite the difficulties your gift affords you. Quick and discerning, it has made you. Capable, you are. Trust that you can complete this mission, I do.”
Which is all Obi-Wan needs to hear before he accepts.
The reason I can’t write a fic for this yet (aside from all of the other fics I’m currently wrestling with) is because I’m not sure how I want it to end. On the one hand, I think following canon pretty closely through RotS could be very cool and angsty, leading to Obi-Wan and Anakin’s confrontation on Mustafar. Obi-Wan has to fight against both his feelings for Anakin and his gift when Anakin tells him to join him. By winning their duel, Obi-Wan breaks free from his curse at a terrible cost.
On the other hand, I also really like the idea of Palpatine finding out about Obi-Wan’s gift somehow and using it to manipulate him. He sends Obi-Wan to the Jedi Temple to commit Operation Knightfall in Anakin’s stead and actually manages to cut down a few Temple guards before crossing paths with Anakin. Palpatine ordered Obi-Wan to go to the Temple and slaughter any Jedi he met and though he does cross blades with Anakin in the halls of the Jedi Temple, he cannot bring himself to kill Anakin. He fights back against his curse and wins, leaving him and the rest of the galaxy free.

what about some sort of buddy cop, same age, enemies to lovers au where obi-wan is a jedi and anakin is a coruscanti detective and they literally hate each other and have no respect for the other (obi-wan thinks anakin is a waste of the coruscant budget and a jedi wannabe; anakin thinks obi-wan is a pretentious space monk asshole)
(anakin has personally arrested obi-wan for speeding three times, drinking in public spaces 4 times -- the public space was a bar btw -- and indecent public exposure once. that last one was, tbh, fair cause obi-wan had his dick out in an alley way lol)
(obi-wan has literally stalked this asshole coruscanti cop off planet before and arrested him in his capacity as Jedi Knight for not using his turn signal when changing hyperspace lanes (once), for podracing betting (3 times), and for possession of a galacticly banned substance (twice))
it's not that they're obsessed with each other, it's just that something keeps forcing them together in the wildest, most unpredictable situations, and it's annoying as hell because they're completely fed up with each other
then the senate moves to have a new task force stood up to solve a series of Force-related crimes in the Coruscanti underworld. the task force would include a representative from the Jedi Temple and one from the Coruscanti guards, obviously. and really, obi-wan and anakin are the perfect choices! they're both highly intelligent, dedicated, trustworthy, and incorruptible.
if only they'd stop trying to push each other off the 51st story of coruscant and actually put their heads together to solve the crime
