I have to admit that I put off reading this book because of the hype surrounding it, and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised when I did finally read it. While at times the writing and pacing could have been more improved upon, I overall enjoyed my time in this world, as I really loved the premise of this novel. A secret society guarding and learning from the Library of Alexandria, in a world full of magic and abilities, and I only wish we’d gotten to read more about the actual library at times. The book is mostly character driven, although the main plot line kept my interest. The mix of characters and the magic they possessed were presented beautifully, and I very much loved the chemistry and tension between them all, as it made for a compelling read. The only problem that I had was that sometimes they felt a little bit two-dimensional, however it was clear that they all had differing personalities, which makes the plot point of the trial exciting. Book Review:

This is the second book in the dark lure series, and while I believe it can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the first book because it's just that good. This story surrounds Rebecca "Becca", a detective who returns to her homegrown to investigate the suicide of her estranged and alcoholic father. The investigation leads her right to Ash, the boyfriend who betrayed and broke her heart 20 years prior. All the secrets they kept about the night that tore them apart bubbles to the surface and interweaves with a 20 year old cold case about two missing teenagers. White weaves a story that is mesmerizing and thrilling. I was hooked by the first paragraph, I desperately wanted to know what happened to Whitney, the girl who just wanted to live her dream. With unexpected and riveting twists, it was without a doubt a compelling thriller that really show's White’s storytelling talent. It was also an exploration of love, grief, compassion, and forgiveness. I think anyone who loves a good mystery/thriller will love this novel. I devoured it in one afternoon. My only sticking point and why I didn't rate this five stars was it took me a long time to warm to Becca and I never really connected with Ash. I think I just wasn't ready to let go of Olivia, Cole and Tori and kept wishing for more chapters dedicated to them and how Olivia and Tori coped with the events of Book 1. Overall, this book was extremely well written and is worth picking up. Thank you Netgalley for the chance to read this novel early in exchange for an honest review.

Ink was not forever.” ✨👹✨👹✨ The Devil Makes Three by Tori Bovalino is a young adult dark academia horror thriller that I’ve wanted to read for quite a while, and I’m glad I finally did! Following Tess and Eliot as they accidentally set the devil free from his binding, this book was dark, atmospheric and twisty, which made it hard to put down. I was a huge fan of the school/library setting, which just added to the atmosphere of the novel. I have to admit that I wasn’t all that invested in either of the characters, but I found Eliot’s backstory incredibly interesting, especially as he was involved with magic. I found that the relationship between them was a little bit unrealistic, especially as it was so rocky for the majority of the novel. That being said, I think they balanced one another out while challenging each other, which is always a fascinating combination. Beautifully written in a way that it both lyrical and captivating, this book had all of the dark academia vibes. Bovalibo managed to capture both the beauty and wonder alongside the horror and fear.
