Sorry for quick dsmp posting but erm Slime and Quackity make out sloppy style. And also slime holds Quackity tenderly. And when slime didn't 100% know how marriage worked other than it meant you loved someone a lot and you gave them something shiny he found a shiny glass piece and gave it to Quackity and asked him to marry him. And Quackity sobbed and he would accept but he's not ready because even though he's moved on he still hurts so slime will patiently wait for when he's ready. And when slime comes back after their falling out, and when they reconnect and move around each other and improve from their past it's Quackity who proposes to slime this time. Promising to continue to be better for slime and for them, and slime accepts and while Quackity may not be able to use the wedding venue like he wanted to he wouldn't trade the small celebration he and slime had for the world.

There are two chapters so far and it's a great fic, with magic and adventure and dteam bonding in a dsmp AU. Sapnap and George are very relatable in their own ways (and they make me laugh a lot) and Dream is as badass as mysterious. Can't wait for the next chapters !

Very unpopular opinion, but I love the Dsmp canon ending

Specially after we found out they've lived multiple lives (as Eret said, it was like a cycle. Every time it resets, they just start again with no memory). So, PLEASE, let me explain this one

I think a big part of the reason why people dislike that ending is bc it felt like the story was interrupted and there still so much to happen and to develop, but personally, that's part of their tragedy. All of those people, living together over and over again in different complex and messed up lives that they don't quite get an end to.

There was still so much left to happen for those people. So many unsolved mysteries, so many people that never got to heal. It's extremely frustrating to think about it, and there were probably so many other lives where the same thing happened. To me, it adds such a cool layer to their story and it leaves us wondering if in a next live (or in the past ones) they ever got their actual ending. Will their souls ever truly rest? Or are they doomed to never getting closure?

Now, another reason people don't like it's bc of Tommy saying sorry to Dream, which also sounds crazy to me, because that was perfect

It wasn't like was he was forgiving him, or even as if Dream was being redeemed. To be honest, it wasn't even that much about Dream at all.

It's about Tommy. Because no matter how much people hurt Tommy, he genuinely believed no one truly deserved dying. The only reason he was even doing that plan was because he thought killing dream and punz was the only option left. So when he realized that maybe there could be another way, he instantly regretted his decision. He was apologizing for taking away their lives, taking away their chances of changing. It's really not about if they deserved it or not (like, c'mon, dream did abuse him), it's about how Tommy died trying to believe there could be good in people, even people who did terrible things. And that shows so much about him. How even after all that trauma, the hope never left him. You might think that's just being naive, and it probably was, but it's something in Tommy that survived through everything. It's a huge part of his character that never quite died, even after all his deaths.

He and Dream becoming friends in the next life was also interesting, and it would've been awesome to see how that went. In better situations, did Dream ever got to the point he previously had? Are people really inherently bad or toxic, or could've they grew into a healthy friendship? Also, did Tubbo and Tommy got close in that life too? They did stay together until the end of the world, but after that?

Seriously, it had potential. It's a shame we didn't get that sequel, but even without it, I don't think the ending is as half as bad as people say it is. It's not perfect, but it's still kind of awesome.

How DO I sign up for this?

We have had to squeeze the sign-up form until it screams to make this work, so buckle in. Here is an example of how to sign up on Ao3 for the recursive exchange, step by step.

I have an idea for a side story for Etho and Iskall in This Is About A Stuffed Bird, by bee_4. So, to start with— that's a hermitcraft fic.

So I select Hermitcraft on the Fandoms part of the sign-up. Note that as we add more fandoms to the list, potentially this will become a drop-down menu instead of checklists. You still select the fandom you want in the same way.

Next is Gift Style. We're using the "characters" tab for that one.

I'm good with my gift being an art, a fic, or a web weave, so I can select all three of these! If I only wanted a fic, or an art, I would only select one.

Next is the Relationship tab, which we're using for characters (told you that we were having to squeeze the signup form until it screamed).

This is a drop-down menu, and I select the characters I want— in this case, Iskall and Ethoslab. Note that possibly I will only match on one character, as we couldn't do relationship matching this time, so I try to keep that in mind when it comes to my requests!

Next is Additional Tags, which is where I select the fic that I'm actually asking for a gift about! In the future, as more fics are added, this will be a dropdown menu, but right now it's tickboxes.

Next is categories. This is our shipping on-off switch.

I've decided that I am good with shipping or not with this one, so I've selected BOTH Gen and M/M. But now that I'm on the page I'm like "I wouldn't mind it if they were lesbians either" so I have selected F/F as well.

Next is rating, which is the NSFW on-off switch. I'm good with smut or no smut, so I've selected both options.

If I wanted no smut whatsoever I could do just Gen (which could also lead to a Mature or Teen work, but excludes E-rated work), and if I definitely wanted there to be dicks out I could select only Explicit.

Then we get to the major archive warnings. This is where you opt-in to archive warnings— it doesn't mean I will necessarily get them, but I'm okay with them! The matching says you might get any one of the things you select here.

I'm gonna start with Stuffed Bird again.

So it's a Hermitcraft fic, I am only able to make fic for it, but you know what, I'll write literally anybody in this world. Hit me. That's a Dream SMP fic, and I think I could make a web weave for that one, so I selected both fic and web weave. I only want to write Emerald Duo for it, so I just selected them. Kunikida sat at his desk, glasses perched on his nose, scribbling furiously in his notebook. The office hummed with its usual activity : Dazai lounging on his chair, Atsushi quietly typing away, and you, nestled in a corner, going through a stack of files. It was a typical day at the Armed Detective Agency, until it wasn’t.

He glanced up when he heard a small sniffle. You were staring blankly at the file in your hands, your eyes glassy and unfocused. Kunikida’s brow furrowed; you looked smaller, vulnerable, as if you’d shrunk into yourself. It was clear something had shifted. You’d regressed, right there, in the middle of the office. Kunikida felt a surge of protective instinct. He immediately put down his pen and approached you, his movements slow and gentle, careful not to startle. "Hey" he said softly, kneeling beside your chair. "Everything's alright ?"

You looked up at him, confusion clouding your eyes. You clutched your sleeves nervously, feeling out of place in an environment that now seemed too big and too daunting. "It’s okay honey," Kunikida reassured, his voice calm and steady. "You’re safe. I’ve got you..."

He noticed Dazai’s curious gaze from across the room and shot him a look that said, "Not now" Dazai, sensing the seriousness of the situation for once, backed off with a silent nod. Kunikida quickly moved to make you more comfortable, taking your hand and leading you to a quieter spot in the office, away from the buzz of work

He pulled out a plush blanket from a drawer (something he kept on hand just in case, one of his many meticulous plans), draping it around your shoulders. You clung to the soft fabric, visibly relaxing. "Let’s take a break, okay ?" Kunikida said, his voice gentle but firm. He handed you a small snack he’d pulled from his bag, a soft roll of bread he often kept for lunch, perfect for little hands. "Here, sweetheart. You don’t have to worry about anything right now"

You took it hesitantly, nibbling at the bread, comforted by his reassuring presence. Kunikida pulled up a chair next to you, sitting close without crowding, a steady anchor in the storm of your sudden regression. He flipped open his notebook, but instead of the usual plans and schedules, he began drawing simple, calming doodles like flowers, stars, and little animals. You watched, mesmerized by the soft scratching of his pen, the simplicity of the moment grounding you

"If you want to draw too, you can" he offered, passing you a spare pen and a blank page. You scribbled little shapes and lines, letting the gentle activity soothe your mind.Kunikida stayed by your side, checking on you quietly, never once losing his patience. He talked softly, about simple things, the weather, the little bakery he found last week, the way the afternoon sun hit the windows just right. Anything to keep you feeling safe and connected

Minutes turned to hours, but Kunikida didn’t budge. He knew you’d return to yourself when you were ready, and until then, he’d be there, steady as always, guarding you with his quiet strength. "You’re doing great, love" he murmured softly, patting your shoulder

In that moment, Kunikida wasn’t just your colleague; he was your protector, your safe place, and the calming presence you needed in a world that sometimes felt too overwhelming

which are the aus You have more on your ming latetly?

A mixture of them!

I'm staring at the Dreambur AU I have (Strangers Vassal) and wondering if I should post what I had planned for it to look like. I'm struggling a lot with writing it, partially because I don't have a lot of people to bounce ideas off of, partially because it's an AU that would have a lot of fight scenes, something I don't have a lot of experience in and am unsure how to proceed with.

I really enjoy the concept of it, and I want to write for it, but it might once again turn into a bunch of shortfics in a series rather than the longfic I originally wanted. It's disappointing that I can't seem to consistently write longfics, but if I don't accept the limitation I might risk not getting anything done at all, and that's potentially more disappointing.

The Communication Knife AU is almost always on my mind. It's evolved from just pure demons and rotations to being a huge comfort that I can just idly think about throughout the day.

It's really neat, because I started out as a Dream-centric multishipper who wasn't sure if I could vibe with Punz and Sam closing the triangle, but after marinating in the idea, it's now really important to me that they become something too. They grow from two people fighting around their relationship with Dream to something based on trust and blunt honesty and Forgiveness Withoit Forgetting. They can be deeply affectionate with each other in a way thats different from their relationship with Dream. Not bad, not in a way that excludes him, just different.

The AU has also tentatively opened me up to exploring 2nd Gen characters, something I've literally never been capable of before. I have a lot of vague ideas for who gets together post-main story, and how those relationships works and why. Ponk/Foolish/XD is a ship for example, and I've designed a possible child for them? As well as designed Fooshs Totem children? It's always a maybe for if I actually want to give people kids, and it's not really the point of CKAU, it's just really fun to explore the rest of the smp in this sort of fix-it au and how it impacts their lives in the After of it all.

It's also helped me expand my Minecraft Lore and Worldbuilding Bible (how in my headcanon the mineacraft world works and its history/lore, including tying other media's like Hermitcraft and Maricraft to the dsmp to make everything part of the overall world.)

Writing CKAU post-story had also, ironically, made me enjoy benchtrio more, as I get to talk to my friends about their interpersonal dynamics and how they work and how they end up finally at peace. Especially considering Tubbo and Ranboo are bitterly divorced for a long time.

I had a lot of small ideas for a DNB Mass Effect AU in a similar vein to To Tear Asunder being my Dragon Age AU, but I feel really guilty getting into that when I haven't even finished the Philza fic or the Techno fic I have for the latter. I have significantly less people to bounce ideas off of for To Tear Asunder, which is why I struggle with it sometimes.

A lot of my writing in the beginning was done through utilizing my manic moods, but now that I'm better medicated/no longer constantly manic, it's led to me going a lot slower with writing. Demons (PWP stuff) are a lot easier to write, because they require significantly less scene set-up when I can use the sexual act as a template, and being horny-brained isn't particularly difficult.

(Also. No Plot Nessecary. Hence the Porn Without Plot. Plot is really exhausting to write sometimes.)

Obviously it's a lot better for my health that I'm no longer manic, but it's still disappointing that I can no longer work myself into a tizzy and write 30 pages of something (before collapsing and being unable to do anything at all for the next several days.) Give and take and all.

I briefly was very insane about Benchtrio fucking Dream in various ways. I made a whole Teacher/Student AU about it that's in my drafts, god willing I get my new laptop and can finish that up. I really enjoy CNC and bodice ripper type stuff, so it's pretty fun to explore crack AUs where Dream is just trying to be normal and the 3 most abnormal people in the world come into his life.

I'm not really a fan of the Tommy/Dream dynamic where Dream is preying on the Poor Helpless Child, especially because it has a habit of taking itself Very Seriously. I'm not looking for serious and dark and the villainization of Dream. It's a lot more fun for me to explore a strong, confident, and very tired 20-something desperately trying to figure out how to deal with the 17-18 year old being horny on main. Also it's just really interesting to me when the younger character takes advantage of normal social and power dynamics and subvert them so they can have the older character sub.

^I'm not sure if the explanation there is perfect or makes sense but I'm always happy to try to talk more about it if you'd like.

I have a little more of the Warden Hybrid!Dream type stuff in my head that I wanted to write out, mostly just a lot of Porn With Minimal Plot for purely kink reasons. I also have a Dream/Ravager fic I'm supposed to be posting, but God only knows when I can finish it. I need zoomies.

This is a very half-formed thought but just. Hmmm. Okay so in DSMP fandom we talk a fair amount at how excellent it is that we focus in on platonic relationships a lot of the time (though that's shifting with the rise of TNTduo). And you get the idea that romance is sort of bad, which I don't have time for as a stance, or that it's reductive to reduce people down to only their romantic relationships. And that is very valid.

People operate as part of part of a complex web of relationships, and most of the relationships in your life are not going to be romantic. If you boil someone down to only their romantic relationship, that's no good, and if it was in real life it'd be unhealthy if you only had one solid relationship (romantic) in your life. It's a shallow depiction of life to boil someone down to only their romance, and this even gets more so if you're talking about erotic writing and how people get reduced down to roles like "top" or "bottom", etc.

And if all you're seeing is shallow romantic writing, I can see how that gets really old. However, the thing that's been driving me up the wall is that if all you're seeing is shallow platonic writing, that is no more reflective of the diversity of the human condition. Like SBI is the big platonic relationship in the fandom, and in it my guys are Phil and Techno. And they're the relationship in that quartet who tends to get the short end of the stick, and so they get reduced down to "dad" or "older brother" a lot of the time. So much of the time. Most of the time. Their character gets entirely reduced down to who they are in service of someone else's arc.

Which is exactly what people complain about in romance, it's just with no kissing.

And sometimes it's like, the point of the work is not to give everyone on the field a full and rich depiction, because this is a 5k one-shot, and and there are 38 people in the DSMP, I'm picking one character to focus on and everybody else is in service to that character. That's fine and that's just how writing works.

But thinking about fandom trends more broadly, and the character trends— phil is "dad", techno is "older brother" or sometimes "dad", niki is "girl next door/baker", tubbo is "supportive quirky best friend"— half the time it's tagged crimeboys but even wilbur is just operating as "big brother/dad", just with more screen time. You have all these characters who have one role only, ever, over and over again. And that is no more groundbreaking or innovative or reflective of the human condition than a romance-focused fandom is, it's just that everybody's clothes stay on.

And like, I love Gen, Gen is what I love to write, but it's not inherently better at reflecting humanity, not unless you work at it. All types of relationships are hard to write and complex, romance is just another type of relationship. So I don't quite get the hatred for romance as a worse type of writing/relationship to focus on.
