ʚїɞ I planned for all hotel characters first but then I realized how much I'm thinking on each paragraph and its details that I decided to just do 2-3 charas per part😭

Very few characters would notice something wrong on the first watch of the show, but wouldn't realize, nor become self-aware until the 2nd or further watch. 

While everyone's reaction would be different with different amounts of stages before total acceptance of the situation, they all would share the first emotion, simple disbelief. They would first need to even process the fact that they're not real, that they were created solely for the purpose of entertaining… something? Someone? In a completely different Universe. That everything that they thought had happened to them before they died didn't actually happen, they were never alive in the first place. Only after that did the emotions and reactions differ. The very first emotion or actual personal reaction would be:

ALASTOR

Irritation with a hint of madness.

His first thoughts about the situation would be how ironic it is that he seeks entertainment for himself while his own person, no, character, was a source of entertainment for whatever was watching them from time to time. It was quite ironic how he said that his face was made for radio when the truth couldn't be further from that. He was literally created solely to be watched on that funny colored box by… whatever was watching him and the others.

He was irritated at not noticing that something was wrong immediately, now he thinks about how blind he was, how obvious everything was. The city is actually quiet, too quiet when the noise and demons aren't needed, when they're not meant to be heard. Nothing actually happened that one time when he was out for a fix of his coat, it just got magically fixed, he went and came back when someone else decided he was to do so. They didn’t have much actual free will when he thought about it and that's what he was mad about. He thought that his deal was a massive problem to him, oh how wrong he was because the problem was you.

He doesn't know how he or the others didn't notice the small, glowing butterfly flying above their heads from time to time. They couldn't be that blind, could they? The little crystal thing (could he break it?) must have done something to be unnoticed for so long. He wondered how long they were watched for, the little thing above their heads seemed to be speaking sometimes, seemingly knowing what would happen… at least he thought so, the words would cut out so often that he was left with a pure guess at one point.

He didn't want to accept that he wasn't real, that he was just a 2D character with the sole purpose of entertaining someone. He was meant to be the one entertained, not you. But he couldn't actually do anything, could he? For sure not until more of the people he knew were aware. 

That's also something that he noticed. When it came to the hotel staff and guests, he seemed to be the only one who realized the situation at first. It took a few times of some events repeating before he noticed that someone else from the hotel was noticing the little crystal butterfly above their heads as well. 

Alastor seemed to be the first, or one of the very first people who noticed that something was wrong. He wasn't sure if someone realized before him, and if they did then who, but he was somewhat glad that he could finally discuss the topic at least a little once the other hotel patrons found out about the truth. He isn't one to really open up in any way, but this was a matter where he had to communicate with the others.

You. He didn’t know what to think of you at first. He did see you in a more negative light at first, under many emotions hitting him at once which he hated but after he calmed down, he started thinking. At first, he was sure you were some sick person seeking entertainment from the suffering of others, and yeah he was doing pretty much the same, but were you really alike when he wasn’t even real and you were? He was pretty sure that he’s never gonna get used to saying that.

Over time, when he stopped overthinking (he’s gonna deny that he was doing that till the day of his 2nd death), he noticed a few changes. The less negative his posture and thoughts were about you, even if neutral, the more he was able to find out. Alastor was able to pick up more than a few words whenever you talked, he was able to hear you talking clearly enough to recognize a possible gender, and something he wasn’t sure that he wanted to think about, it was way easier to pick up your emotions in your words.

I feel like he would be more lenient towards you if it turned out you were a female (or identified as one), but that would be the mama’s boy inside of him talking. There wouldn’t be too many differences of course, but those who spent enough time around him would be able to tell there's a difference after finding out your gender if it turned out you weren’t a man (again, not too much but it IS noticeable).

He would go from lowkey hating you at first to being mostly neutral with a hint of positive light as you seemed to do nothing but watch, up until later on when everyone is self-aware as well and would talk about the whole thing. Only then would the feelings towards you, the little watcher, as he first called you, turn more positive.

LUCIFER

Massive inner conflict and a complete mix of emotions

He didn’t know what to think. It was hard to comprehend that he didn’t actually live for as long as he thought, that all the things that supposedly happened, in fact never were even close to happening, they were just… a scripted past. 

Was all his suffering for nothing? Was it there just to entertain someone? Did those things who watched them enjoy seeing them sad and hurt? He was simply lost on what to think about the whole situation, it wasn't something that he could prepare himself for in any way beforehand. 

He was disappointed in himself for not noticing immediately or at least faster that something was not right. He's the literal King of hell! Even if… only in a show apparently… but he still is. No one better say anything about that because he's already on the brink of a yet another breakdown. He cannot take much more.

Should he try doing something about this? Or should he stay quiet and go with the script as he's supposed to? He wasn’t sure about the answer himself and had no one to answer his questions. The thought that what he thought were eons of life was actually a lie was… a little terrifying. Who knows just how much can someone force them to do without caring for their opinions because they don’t know that he and the others are aware of everything now, how much can you cause without their consent? He wasn’t sure if you or anyone else knew about them being self-aware or not.

He would actually try to ignore the little butterfly whenever he would see it, but at the same time, many questions were swirling in his mind.

Why were you around? Did you like to see them suffering? Did you have any control over what you saw? Did you have some sort of control over them? Did you have plans regarding them? Did you-

Yeah, again, he has a lot of questions and absolutely zero answers.

His personal feelings about you were all around at first. Not sure whether he should hate, dislike, or be generally negative about you, be more neutral, or be on the more positive side, especially since you didn't seem to do anything but watch them. Like it's all that you could do when it comes to them, but he couldn't be 100% sure.

Similarly to Alastor, he would be one of the characters who noticed something wrong on the first watch of the show before becoming self-aware quite soon after that. I don't think he, nor Alastor, would notice the other knows too fast, since both try to act like nothing's wrong around others. He did not want to be just a 2D character, something to be watched on a screen. It was… humiliating, in his eyes. He could tell that Charlie and the others weren't aware of anything at first so he didn't speak about it until later on when he was sure that they came to their senses, as he would like to say.

He wondered how long were you actually there before he, or anyone else, started to see or notice you, especially since he could literally hear you. Both as the small insect and the occasional words he was able to pick up. And that's if he was to forget the butterfly was literally, softly fucking glowing. Yeah, they're all blind.

I think that if you’re on the younger side, (which technically is any age a human can be alive at compared to him lmao) he would be a little softer, especially if you're similar to his daughter in character. He would be more on the negative side at first, as much as he wishes he didn't straight up assume how you were as a person, it took some time but he went into the more neutral zone before being positive about you after being able to hear more of you talking, as he was able to at least have more idea about your character and wasn't completely clueless like at the start.

My unorganized thoughts about Hazbin finale because I am feeling all the feelings.

Positives

The songs? Absolute bangers. Both of them. The Chaggie "More Than Anything" reprise got spoiled for me but I still loved it. We stan a supportive couple ready to go to war together. The reprise for "Happy Day in Hell" at the end was a nice touch. Loved that it was Lucifer who picked up the slack to cheer up Charlie. Mans finally becoming the dad who stepped up.

The battle as a whole was awesome. Hot take, but if Adam didn't have the spawn infinite enemies cheat all bad guy armies seem to have in these situations, the Hotel definitely would've won.

I'll admit, I wasn't too jazzed about Sir Pentious replacing Mimzy in the main cast but he kind of redeemed (lol) himself for me this episode. Bro was both one of the funniest and most heartwarming characters in the finale get yourself a man who can do both. The unholy (lol) noises I made when he showed up as a redeemed soul in Heaven. Good for him! He deserves the best. Also I find Sera's and Emily's reactions to the reveal kind of interesting. Emily is overjoyed seeing that Charlie's idea works, but Sera looks... mortified? Disgusted? Kinda tells us which one of these two really deserves the title of Big Good. Side note, but it's kind of funny how the only physical change a redeemed sinner goes through is that their color scheme is now pastel instead of goth.

ADAM FUCKING DIED YESSIRRRRR! GOOD RIDDANCE BITCH NO ONE WILL MISS YOUUUU (Except for Lute, but no one gives a fuck about what Lute thinks, cry harder hoe)

Charlie's and Lucifer's true formssss! Razzle and Dazzle getting to be badassss! (R.I.P. Dazzle, hope you somehow end up in Heaven too)

Alastor Vs Adam. Cool fight, surprisingly not as one-sided as one might've thought. I mean, Alastor still lost but he lasted a lot longer than most of the others who fought against Adam (Poor Sir Pen)

Vaggie and Lute rematch, I fucking called ittttt!

Seeing everyone gear up and fight for the Hotel was cool, seeing so many Exorcists get axed off was cathartic as fuck.

Lute losing a part of her body because of Vaggie, just like she took a part of Vaggie's body was *chef's kiss*.

Lucifer Vs Adam and Lucifer just... not taking the fight seriously at all until Charlie almost gets hurt. He was really just toying with Adam for the entire first half and when he started getting serious Adam got trashed so fucking quick, I love it.

Charlie fucking shanking Adam and stopping his punch Just Like That. I lover her, she's such a badass. Sure wish we could've seen more of that (foreshadowinggg)

Vox acting as the greek chorus for the events of the episode works surprisingly well. Ngl I thought his constant commentary would get annoying really fast if they kept cutting away from the action just so he can say a funny. But no, they actually managed to time it pretty well. Props to Adam Stein (writer for this episode).

The Negatives (Yes, They Exist)

The other Vees did not need to be here. Seriously, we're starting off with Vox alone in his control room and we could've stayed there. Velvette and Valentino didn't even talk for the majority of the episode. And I'm not a fan of how Val continues to be played for comedy. Unfriendly reminder that this man is a r*pist and an abuser. If you needed a V for the funnies, Velvette and Vox are quite literally right there. (Can you believe Velvette had no lines this episode but fucking Val had both a speaking role and a not insignificant part of the ending song? Weak.) You can still have the ending scene of the Vees hanging out and planning after the aborted Extermination, literally nothing changes if you cut Val and Velvette from the cutaway gags.

Not a fan of how Lucifer stole the spotlight. "But you said you liked the Adam Vs Lucifer fight-" Yeah, I did. Doesn't change that this shouldn't have been Luci's fight, it should have been Charlie's. We've had hints this whole season that Charlie is actually way stronger and wrathful than anyone thinks and that she's actively working to keep up her cheerful and friendly persona. Her stabbing Adam with her trident was a nice start, but after Lute killed Dazzle and seriously endangered Vaggie, this should've been the moment Charlie decided "Alright that's it, no more Miss Nice Girl, I didn't want this to end in bloodshed but these assholes are going down." This should've been the moment where the gloves come off. How much more impactful would it be if Charlie was the one beating down Adam but stopping before killing him? If the show made it clear Charlie could murder this asshole, but she doesn't, because she's still better than he ever will be. What a way to show that Charlie truly does believe in the good in everyone or at least still believes in non-lethal solutions to the conflict between Heaven and Hell! But nope, Charlie gets two badass moments, then is banished to the side-lines and to the role of damsel Lucifer has to save and who has to be the metaphorical angel on Lucifer's shoulder who stops him from offing Adam (for some reason). If we needed to get Lucifer involved, maybe have him show up earlier to help the Hotel but get hurt somehow, forcing and motivating Charlie to step up as the future ruler of Hell. Speaking of-

Why the fuck was Lucifer so late to the fight??? Yeah yeah, I know, depressed shut-in, but in "More Than Anything" he literally calls Charlie "the only thing worth fighting for" in Hell. He knew the Extermination was coming. Yeah, maybe Charlie didn't tell him that the trial in Heaven went south and that Adam's Exorcists were going to target the Hazbin Hotel, but you'd think he'd have noticed something was up??? More importantly, if he really wanted to support Charlie's dream of saving the sinners in Hell, why didn't he take part in the battle from the start??? Why didn't Charlie ask him to fight alongside her??? Yeah, Charlie is reluctant to ask Lucifer for anything because they don't have the best relationship, but we've had an entire fucking episode of them growing closer and Lucifer assuring Charlie he'd help her. And this wasn't just a matter of pride, Charlie's friends and her girlfriend were in danger of getting killed, you're telling me she'd choose her own hang-up over all of them??? "But if Lucifer was there, the fight would've been over too quick-" refer to the previous point. Angels can be hurt and killed by angelic weaponry, there were like over a hundred Exorcists on that battlefield and don't tell me Adam would be above fighting dirty by attacking while Lucifer is distracted. There. Easy way to take Lucifer out of the fight and make way for Charlie.

Not a fan of how Cherri Bomb x Sir Pentious was bullrushed in this last episode. Yeah, we established Pentious likes her, but Cherri had like no interest in him until Angel commented he might have two dicks. Which, I guess her being after a purely physical relationship could work, but we all know that's not what Pentious wants. Their "romance" gives "He Was a Boy She Was a Girl" vibes. Like Velvette and Valentino, nothing in the episode would've been lost if that particular plot-line was dropped.

"The future of Hell belongs to the Vees" Yeah but does it though? Does it? Sorry, but I'm having a hard time taking these three seriously as a threat. Vox got effortlessly trounced by Alastor (and contrary to what the Vees believe he isn't missing, he came back), Velvette talked a big game about fighting the Exorcists but then did absolutely nothing and Val would eat dirt so fast against anyone who can actually fight back. Plus "Overlords hanging by a thread"? Which Overlords, exactly? Alastor? He's not dead and like previously stated, he's not 'missing'. Rosie, Carmilla, Zestial and the rest of the Overlords are just fine, the Extermination was centered around the Hazbin Hotel this time, no other turf even got scratched. "Nature abhors a power vacuum" What power vacuum? Again, no Overlords even died! No territory outside the hotel was destroyed! Are they just on a high from Alastor's supposed disappearance? I hope that's it, because otherwise damn, you three fucking suck at being Overlords.

TBOSAS SPOILERS!

I am gonna start by saying that I went into this movie knowing it would not follow the book scene for scene, character for character, and so on. This is not my first book-to-movie adaptation (obviously) so I knew what to expect, time constraints have to be met, of course. That being said, under the cut will be my review with spoilers.

I loved that the first scene of the movie was the Dark Days, it really set the tone for Coryo's POV in my opinion. I also REALLY enjoyed that the movie was split into three parts, but I also feel like they could've done a neater transition.

I am a bit sad we didn't see him disappointed by eating boiled cabbage YET AGAIN lmao, but that is more of just a funny little tidbit I would have enjoyed. My poor Sejanus, my beloved... was treated like the stale piece of bread at the bottom of a bag that everyone throws away. In the books, he was everything that Hope represented as a reader, pointing out the cruelty of the Games, calling out the Capitol and so on... in the movie he is nothing but angry and it never shows his one-sided friendship with Coryo, how he fully trusts him, brings him food his Ma prepared, never even made any significance between how he was LITERALLY feeding Coryo some days. It erased all of his kindness just to show this pent-up rage against the Capitol. I was really looking forward to seeing Clemensia in the hospital, I am not gonna lie. The mutts in the original movies were hardly visible, it isn't really translated that the ones in the first movie look like the tributes, I wanted to see just this one person being a mutt and show the absolute HORROR of what it actually is. I am not even talking about anything CRAZY, just some scales prosthetics and contacts to show how the snakes changed her. It felt very lazy. The cut to Lucy just having a guitar randomly was fucking wild lmfao, like I understand that scene would've been too much of a filler, but it is never even hinted at that Coryo tried to get the guitar. Dr.Gaul was amazing, ngl I did truly love Viola as her. The games themselves were so rushed though? Like, they really wiped everyone out with the snakes lmfao, that was so stupid to me? All of the scenes in D12 were just... so rushed. It seemed like there was no training or anything and he just was out there doing this job randomly as a peacekeeper, like dude did nothing else lmao. Idk, as someone who really enjoyed the book, when I thought I wouldn't, the movie was very lackluster. Not even showing how awful Snow really is by literally living with Sejanus' parents after literally being the reason he was killed is INSANE. Like, I really thought it would capture WHY he became this villain but it's more like... he is mad because his girlfriend left :( idk, it was very lackluster. It has been a few months since I last read the book, I might reread it and update this review in a reblog but.... so many scenes were cut, so many details that while yes were inner monologue in the book could have been some how portrayed in the movie but it wasn't. idk how this movie has such a high rating lmao, it by far the worst one imo.

If you are curious of my THG film ranking I would say from best to worst is MJ 1, CF, MJ 2, THG, and then TBOSAS... like this shit was mediocre at best. If you haven't read the book, then great, you will probably love it. But idk... it was lacking SO much.

I have other thoughts, but I am running on little to no sleep so I cannot think properly, I might add more at another time, but yeah. Mostly I am just upset at the lack of character for Sejanus. Nothing about his death or anything was as heartbreaking as it was in the book.

Karl Heisenberg

First impression: I thought he was going to play a significant role in RE8, perhaps even fall into the trope where he's truly the Big Bad (TM) versus Mother Miranda. I think I got that impression because Karl always came across as smarter than he lets on. Either way, I knew I was gonna fucking love this dude. Does he look like trash? Yep. Does he hold a grudge? Yep. Sign me up! 

Impression now: CAPCOM YOU FUCKED UP. WHY DIDN'T YOU UTILIZE THIS GUY FURTHER IN THE DAMN PLOT?! WHY DIDN'T HE AND ETHAN PARTNER UP?!

That's seriously my biggest gripe when it comes to Karl, he's a great character that didn't get used to his full potential. I mean, sure that gives fanfic writers such as myself a lot to play with and makeup, but he deserved better. Karl's character was fucking fun. I could tell his motion capture and VO artist had a great time playing hobo metal man (Neil Newbon you sold it, mother fucker).

Seriously, Karl is hot trash but he's my hot trash. I'll defend him all the way.

Favorite Moment: In every scene Karl is in, he just steals the damn show. I always enjoy the scene where he confronts Ethan with partnering up (Ethan, you should've taken the hobo's hand) and goes on a verbal rampage about the other lords and how much he despises Miranda. You can feel his passion and hate for what's become of his life, and even sense how desperate he is to get out of it by any means necessary.

Idea for a story: I've been working on a story with Karl called The Sacrifice that takes place years before the events of RE8. Karl falls in love with a gal named Sonja Ainsley, and this pushes him to wanting to break free from the village and Miranda's clutches.

The story is on hiatus, but I intend to finish it when I get the motivation again. I love him and Sonja very much.

Unpopular Opinion: For all his bravado, Karl is sensitive and cautious deep down. I’ve read many stories where is unyielding and very sexual (ngl I indulge in that cause I’m nasty like everyone else on here lol) but given the abuses he has endured, I think he would be quite reluctant to indulge himself with someone until several layers were peeled back and his partner gained his trust. 

Favorite Relationship: I ship Karl with happiness. I don’t care if it’s an OC, Reader, Canon, etc. etc. etc. I just want this fucking hob goblin to feel like he’s on top of the world and has support. I love reading material where he gets to just fucking live and be happy. 

Favorite headcanon: Karl is quite good at making jewelry pieces. 

Karl is artistically inclined and enjoys sketching, and doodling. He keeps most of his pieces to himself since he considers having a hobby like that could lead him to being taken advantage of (he’s kind of a victim of toxic masculinity there in that regard, where “men can’t like things like the arts without being seen as less than”). 

Karl struggled with reading well into his early 20s, but he taught himself and is quite fond of novels (Sonja helps him there in The Sacrifice, and he likes Pride and Predjudice). 

Moreau and he watch TV together, and they get invested and I do mean invested to the point where they both yell and scream at the characters on TV for fucking up. 

Ardyn Izunia/Lucis Caelum

First Impression: I want to preface by saying that my late grandmother bestowed upon me the knowledge to protect myself from peculiar people. She told me to never trust a man who has shaved off his eyebrows and never trust a man that wears a tunic. All her wisdom couldn’t prepare me for what the fuck to do about a man who wears over 5 layers of clothing, and looks like a homeless guy who walked into a thrift shop and picked out every item that screamed, “Hi there, I’m Johnny Depp.” I’m frightened, but I gotta follow my principles: does he look like trash? Check. Does he hold a grudge? Check. Okay everyone…let’s pray….

Impression now: Your honor, I love him. I love his quirkiness. I love his humor. I love his mannerisms. I love his darkness. I love his imperfections. I love his humanity and lack thereof. I love his daemon form. I love his charisma. I love how he carries himself. I love his ambition. I love how unsettling he can be. I love his wild hair. I love his piercing eyes. I love how he used to love and care for others. I love how he tried to hold onto himself despite failing. I love how he’s unapologetic. I love his faults. I love his flaws. I love that I see bits of myself in him. I love his bloodlust. I love his taunts. I love his sarcasm. I love how tragic his story is. I love how unyielding he can be. I love him. Break me off a piece of that Kit-Kat bar.

Favorite Moment: Pretty much everything he is in. However I adore his entire appearance in the Lestallum chapter. You can tell he’s clearly up to shit, but can’t necessarily prove it. Hell, I even felt bad for judging him after he goes through the trouble of saving everyone’s ass in a later part of that section. I even had a moment of second guessing. 

Idea for a story: I already wrote an Ardyn x OC (Caelan) story called Immortal Shield. I wanted to give Ardyn a happier ending, and explore his character if he were resurrected years after the final battle with Noctis (went with the Dawn of the Future ending). I think it turned out okay.

Cause I am not over him by any means, I’m working on a Ardyn x Reader story. It takes place two years before the events of the game. I’m 10 chapters in thus far. 

Unpopular Opinion: Ardyn is one of the best FF villains in the franchise. I’ve seen people complain about him being lackluster as a character (from his quirks/backstory, to the final battle cause he didn’t have a ‘final form’). Then there’s the camp that sees the adoration fans have for him and go, “tragic guy does tragic and terrible things and people make excuses for him”. I mean…yeah, to a degree? But what makes me still stand by my statement is the fact that unlike most FF villains: the guy actually fucking wins. We are talking about a man who spent YEARS and I mean fucking YEARS plotting, wearing various masks, and lining up pieces to ensure he would FINALLY get to rest in peace after all the shit he had been forced to endure. That is dedication and shows how he’s so damn dangerous and intelligent. A man that can bide his time for thousands of years isn’t someone to fuck around with. 

Favorite Relationship: Ardyn x Aera. Those two deserved happiness and peace. I also ship him with OCs, other canon characters, and readers/inserts. I love stories where no matter who it’s with, he is appreciated and cherished. 

Favorite headcanon: Ardyn’s love language is gift-giving. If he sees something that reminds him of someone, he’ll get it for them or even try his hand at making the thing himself if he wants to go the extra mile. Getting a gift from him says A LOT, and the people around him know it’s kind of a big fucking deal. 

Being a former healer, he’s very much in tune with people’s emotions that it’s almost like a 6th sense. Even being corrupted by the star scourge, he can never truly tune that part of himself out. He uses this natural gift to manipulate others to get ahead. 

Since sweets like chocolate and other delicacies were rare and quite expensive 2,000 years ago, Ardyn takes full advantage of modern decadence. The man’s got candy everywhere.

Lucifer: 6/10. His voice is really hot, he's a character I could read a lot of fanfiction on (like bkg and Todoroki) and I can't hate anyone in this game. He also has his moments. What I don't like about him is the fact he gets physical with his brothers in a not fun way. Like, dude... I understand you have trauma and everything but seriously. I get your demons and everything but you don't have to go that hard with discipline oh my fucking God. Just take away their phone privileges or smth. I feel like this is kinda.... Abuse? Lucifer canonically hits Mammon and strings him up from the ceiling. That my good sir is how you get your brothers not to trust you with shit. Also you threatened my life at least twice so :/. Like at least Belphir actually had the nerve to kill me/hj but yeah mixed opinions on Luci because of the way he treats his brothers

Mammon: I love him. He's a tsundere yes but unlike SOME demons he doesn't harm us. And he loves us alot and that kinda does it for me like yes please fall in love with me <33 yeah he can be a little shit but he's my little shit. Also he basically has a kid so bonus points. But omg I feel so bad with how everyone treats him which is why none of brothers are a 10/10. But yeah tied with Belphie for third fav character

Leviathan: MY FAVORITE DEMON BROTHER <33 fell for him in 10 minutes ngl. He likes anime, I like anime, he's shy, I'm shy but I can probably help him with it. He's like, actually pretty nice (when he wants to be) like marry me please. Even as friends I'd love him. Honestly just, 9/10. Points get deducted for bullying Mams and hating normies

I am the biggest hopeless romantic and my strength in writing lies pretty heavily in character-building and I feel like romance really is an adaptive and immersive experience in getting to explore nuances of a character. That’s not to say that I’m ONLY up for shippy things by any means — but they do tend to catch my interest more often because the characters are kind of working through things together. My strengths in writing don’t tend to be high-action sequences, or worldbuilding (which is why I get nervous reaching out to plot — don’t want to seem disinterested when really it’s a 404 Orion not found). Often I do my best to worldbuild but my characters tend to lead me through writing not through ‘aha’ moments beforehand. As I get to know the dynamic, I start getting more thoughts!

     I enjoy a great many tropes — I am learning to love being self-indulgent in writing, and love when my writing partners are the same and aren’t dialing back. (One of my favorite things about people in general is them getting excited about things they’re passionate about). Some of my favorite writing tropes tend to be found family, idiots in love, hurt/comfort, lemons (not even ashamed), the falling in love bit (one day I will manage a slowburn without getting impatient), friends to lovers, enemies to lovers — I really love dynamics where the muses are breaking down walls, I love when things move in unexpected ways. I like complicated a hell of a lot — but I am also a sucker for happy endings (ngl I am not a fan of sad book endings AT ALL). I love when writing kind of encourages each partner to just immerse and create a well-rounded story with drama and intrigue and even action sometimes. I love learning about the nuances of other people’s characters while getting to explore mine. I love the trope of the character who thinks they are unlovable learning to be loved. Sometimes I like darker stuff, too. And some controversial stuff, as listed on my page. Almost anything ticks some kind of box for me as long as the plot is moving forward and there are opportunities for both muses to grow. I like things that aren’t like — predictable? Threads that I haven’t used as a premise 100 times before.

      Back when I used to write like 50 muses, most of whom were canons, I used to make the joke about trying to get the URL ‘onceuponaprince’ because I definitely had a type I’d tend to write. But I do think all kinds of muses have a little bit of cliche in them, yeah? Francis is the princely type with the fairytale cliche of not being able to be himself because of his parents. Westley is the bad boy with a heart of gold meets bratty little shit. Marin is the one who underneath it all just wants to learn how to be loved (and arguably people would probably say she’s the female character ‘too soft’ cliche even though I don’t think so and fuck a whole lot of people who say female muses can’t ever be soft), Luci is like...a villain arc trope waiting to happen. Mariano is the strong and silent type — the almost-villain with a redemption arc. But they’re all kind of just themselves, too.

Damn, Clay’s shins are black and blue now. Desmond’s are a little too actually. Lucy better watch out tho, Desmond might put salt in her coffee for making him do all those interviews even if it was good in the end. Sappy happy fic was sappy, and I definitely teared up a couple times🥺 so good♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ I loved the back story in there too and all the references to the other kingdoms being different video game universes, I really loved that (mushroom kingdom rabbids reference made me snort out loud). And the ending!! Gosh. It’s like if this was 6 years ago I would keysmash……. Fuck it, aljdhdhdkalakfjfj.

Now. Now I shall put Zero Eclipse on my kindle and binge it. (I have read the first eleven chapters I think??) I have been putting it off for too long! I actually want to read it I don’t know why I haven’t 😭. Maybe that will be my Christmas read. I always need a good fic to read while recovering from the holiday overstimulation, so maybe I’ll read it these next couple nights.

I read the other updates too, and I think Continuous was my favorite update; not like the others where bad, in fact I really really enjoyed finding out the back story from Altaïr’s pov in fiat, but i actually kinda did a little squeak when Desmond realized he was bleeding Maria with Giovanni, lol. And ngl, I teared up a bit reading the first chapter of Persisting.😞

I'm glad you loved this sappy happy fic. Honestly, I was planning on writing a mostly crack fic, the characters are the ones who decided to make it sappy. I'm not complaining. I liked how it ended up.

The other video game references were definitely because I made Ubisoft an actual shadowy character so it just made sense to add more video games into it (the Mushroom Kingdom Rabbids reference definitely made it there because I actually enjoyed playing that game... it's a solid strategy game).

Kat's Fairy Tail Rewatch: Episode 1

that's right people. this is the 7/7 event. i'm finally gonna rewatch fairy tail for REALSIES and document my thoughts in these (almsot) daily posts! because i've recently re-realised just how much of an impact this series has had on my life, i'm celebrating it. and what better day to do it than 7/7? will contain spoilers for some later episodes too!

Highlights

snow fairy literally existing is a highlight. this song is the essence of fairy tail and just encapsulates my feelings to it perfectly i used to not be able to listen to it after watching the last episode bc it would make me cry

wonderful little foreshadowing here... plus its hilarious every time, especially how happy is doing literally nothing about it

this moment is golden. natsu and happy being oblivious while lucy is the One Who Thinks perfectly sets up their dynamic, and the sort of 4th wall break in how lucy can see this moment like the viewers can

not much else to say. happy just called you cringe, L

lucy only really reacting when bora throws her keys into the water. i think this moment is great at showing how much she cares for her spirits! its not nearly as obvious as it is later on, but duh, its the first episode

more foreshadowing!! for the (galuna arc spoilers ig?) sherry and lucy fight, when aquarius attacks under sherry's control, lucy knows that she'll wash away just about everybody. also a very obvious yet effective way to show relationship development later on

this scenes is just fucking cool. id kill to watch it for the first time again lmaooo

fairy tail is anti law enforcement, #based

but its the bond they make here. the way lucy accepts the fairy tail chaos is how you know she belongs

Episode MVC

episode mvc isnt the most powerful/plot important character, it's just who i enjoyed watching most in the episode. this time it's happy. i just love the little guy and his one liners sldfaslf. he's my mouse cursor

Final Thoughts

really good first episode, plot and entertainment-wise. definitely had me obsessed the first time watching lol. the whole thing was just really funny, if i remember right the constant stream of jokes from the first series gets a little lost in the last two. i totally understand that, as the story gets more intense, but this is still fun to return to! and remember when there were magic circles for like, every spell? me neither. but it is cool looking! natsu's fire is so nasty tho i'm ngl {{{(>_<)}}} i like how it looks later on way better. honestly i just really like this episode, you get the entire vibe of the show just through the opening and this episode. oh and when the main theme played when natsu was fighting bora? fucking SICK AS HELL DUDE

good episode. i give it seven happys out of ten (like the cat. so not 'happies')

I've watched Pusher...many times, but it was only on my most recent watch that I noticed two important (and probably obvious) things:

1) The scene at the firing range ("explain to me the scientific nature of the whammy") is to show that Mulder is an excellent shot, thereby raising the stakes for the hospital scene where Mulder almost shoots Scully.

2) When Mulder turns the gun on Scully, he doesn't pull the trigger down all the way. After Scully pulls the fire alarm, he turns and finishes pulling the trigger, killing Modell. This whole time I thought the shot at Scully was another empty chamber...

So because of how time works, despite receiving this ask on July 12, by the time you see this it’ll be August! So the entire Avatar!MC series should be out by now, which I hope you will/have enjoy/ed. I wholeheartedly agree with the concept of Vast! Levi, which I’ve talked about before (as you know ;) ), but I will happily ramble about it again!

So I put him as falling victim to the Eye/Beholding bc of his whole thing about Secrets and Pride being about wanting control over your own image

And he does have a creepy tendency in canon to always know when his brothers are up to some Dumb Shit

BUT! You know what we see in Lucifer’s character that we see in a certain Entity?

A simultaneous manipulation of others and submission to being manipulated by a higher power

That’s right, I think Luci would be a Web avatar

But Winter, Lucifer wouldn’t wanna take marching orders from someone/thing else! He’s too proud for that— You’re right! He doesn’t want to. But he will.

He willingly submitted himself and his family to Diavolo for eternity to get what he wanted (saving Lilith)

And from how much we see him work, it’s safe to say that he’s a pretty damn essential part of running the Devildom

If he really wanted to, he could probably successfully pull a coup on Diavolo

But he doesn’t, because he’s trapped himself by his own honour code

Thus, the sexual tension bromance we all know and love/insist is Deeply Problematic and blacklist (depending on how much you like/hate dialuci lol)

I put Mammon as falling victim to the Buried for pretty obvious reasons

I had to get a bit abstract with it, but I think the Hunt might suit him

More like how Basira was considered an avatar of the Hunt in the fearpocalypse because of her mission/promise to Daisy

See, Greed can stem from fear

Fear of losing what you have, of no longer being able to support yourself, of being preyed upon by others

So people become greedy as a defense mechanism, to protect what they have

If they’re on the offensive, they won’t be targeted

Also, if you’re constantly pursuing more more more, there’s no time to think about anything else

If Mammon let his little tough guy act go too far for too long, I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to say he could start heading down the path to avatarhood

As I said last time, I can see why people would associate Levi with the Lonely first: he’s a shut in, he acts like he wants nothing to do with people/would rather be alone, and I get it

BUT! All of that actually stems from the fact that Levi has terrible self-esteem and thinks he deserves to be this gross shut in loser

While envy can make you want to bring others down to your level, so to speak, Levi tends to just shun “normies”, not actively conspire to sabotage them

He actually does crave understanding and to have people in his life, he just doesn’t know how to go about it

I think of Jared in relation to Beel not because of the gym thing, but because his very chill/apathetic attitude towards his patron is similar to how I’d picture Beel’s approach to all this

It does technically tie into his whole thing about being trapped in the attic, since he’d denied all agency and freedom in there, but… Uno Reverse

Dark!Belphie is an interesting concept, and MAG86 “Tucked In” is iconic, but tbh I don’t really… Get the Dark

Don’t get me wrong, put me in a dark place and I will be scared, I don’t like not seeing things, but I have a hard time wrapping my head around why one would become an avatar of the Dark

It’s not a very “primary” fear imo? Like, I’m scared of the dark bc I can’t see what’s there, ie. a threat could be there and I wouldn’t know, but intellectually I know it’s just the absence of light. That’s not really spooky on its own.

I guess what I’m saying is I can attribute spookier things related to the Dark better to other Entities, so I’m not sure what its draw is specifically

According to the Entity Sexiness Survey I did a while back, there’s apparently some Catholic stuff going on with the Dark so maybe that’s why i don’t get it lmao

I'm kind of just lowkey interpreting every single character as yandere. Peter is obviously yandere, Lucy is obviously yandere, I'm convinced TK is the one who wrote uhhhhh that disturbing stuff on our time card but I suppose it's possible Peter stuck back there after TK clocked us in and was too preoccupied covering our shift to notice, and the way Don kind of is instantly suspicious of Peter and offers help to you reads of "im watching over you and protecting you" vibes

Also did you know the person running the official YB blog, Red, is the voice of Lucy? Just a little fun fact!

But yeah I've only played through the game a few times and I definitely need to play through it more cause I doubt that I've seen everything and the creator mentioned on the patreon that there are more routes/options that are going to be patched into Day 3 in the future so 👁👁
