went to the library, cuz I wanted to see if they had Assassination Classroom manga (they didn't, I got Hell's Paradise instead) and just for shits and giggles I went to see if they had witchcraft books. and they did! I checked out Wicca Crystal Magic: A Beginner's Guide to Crystal Spellcraft by Lisa Chamberlain and Witch Life: A Practical Guide to Make Every Day Magical by Emma Kathryn. I already started the crystal book, and I'm taking notes on it, cross referencing, all that research stuff so I can eventually put a crystal section in my book of shadows. I'm so excited! Kind of prepared myself for there to be nothing, but I was wrong!!

the thing that surprised me the most was they had an app???? Like, my library card is there, I can keep track of the books I want to read, see their availability across the county and the next three, and put them on hold VIA the app?? and that's not the coolest part!!!!

Incredible finale. I honestly haven’t this locked in to a show like in terms of binging in a very long time, took me back to early Covid days. Without a doubt the best piece of terminator media we’ve had since T2, it’s well clear of salvation.

The first few episodes really had me thinking it was just T2 and T1 mashed together, but the Japanese version. Malcolm looks just like the dude that Arnold and Sarah are trying to protect in T2, resistance fighter from the future etc etc. But I like how we ended up focusing on the philosophical aspect of man and machine, rather than the usual save the world stuff, we get asked if the world is even worth saving.

Ngl when Kokoro was asking Malcolm all that stuff about what humanity has actually given the world instead of just taken from it, I couldn’t come up with an answer either. Some really interesting ideological questions were posed for sure.

So many twists in this last episode I had my jaw on the floor. Malcolm coming from the future was a wtf, Misaki I had a feeling was a robot anyway from the first episode, so that wasn’t too much of a shock but what was shocking was her relationship with Malcolm in the OG timeline and how she was the basis for Kokoro. She was best girl tho and I’d absolutely take out my own unit to protect her.

Eiko being Malcolm’s mother tho wtf?? Kenta brokering a peace deal between skynet and sending the terminator back was probably the biggest shock for me. But it does line up with his character throughout the show who was always skeptical of Misaki and the machines.. just a lot of WTF twists and multiple timelines, I really hope they do more with terminator in this universe because there’s a lot of cool possibilities. We also don’t know what Kokoro will get up to now!

Hate that Malcolm had to go out like that, but i guess it was necessary to give Kokoro the right answer in the end.. just really enjoyed this one, well done production IG.

In terms of them being serious b4 college, I got that vibe initially too. I know there's all the freshman year rumors and I think it would make sense that they weren't together at some point but I also think they dated in high school. Btw, like other anons have mentioned I think ppl take the freshman year stuff too seriously, this is the theory we have the least amount of proof for imo. Again I think it sounds believable but I also think it's been exaggerated a lot.

I also agree with anon about their closeness in hs reading as more coupley. I have gone on vacay’s with my besties but the thing is Paige never seemed like a regular bestie to Azzi. Like I'm pretty sure she's known Colleen for around the same amount of time, they lived in the same state and went to the same school but they didn't seem the same type of close. Paige was in a different grade, state and school. They got close super fast and all of a sudden their families are arranging vacay’s together, having them fly out to each others games, etc. Covid happens and for some reason Paige is living with them. Idk to me it just feels like all the parents knew they were more than friends and constantly adjusted to give them opportunities to be together.

I see them having been separated for less than a year with possible reasons including the distance and protocol making it so that Paige could barely go anywhere. Maybe during high school there were othersort periods of time where they took breaks/broke up. Once Azzi came to came to campus I don't really see them being platonic, this time period is when we got some of the most obvious interviews. I can see them being more casual until 2022 but I don't think they were platonic. So, my vision is: they've been romantic from almost the start.

pete has always been interested in kyle from a distance- theyve never really spoken, but after stan becomes a normie again after his goth stint michael points stan out at school like 'look at that conformist lol' and petes like 'yeah what a loser. also who the fuck is the guy in green.'

we've seen from basic cable where he has a crush on sophie that he isnt necessarily afraid of putting himself out there when hes interested in someone but hes kind of awkward about it. so he approaches kyle a couple of times to see what his deal is. this makes all the other goth kids INSANE like not in a negative way they r either in disbelief (michael, firkle) or think its hilarious (henrietta) that pete has a crush on kyle, he massively denies its a romantic thing tho bc hes not a gaywad...he just wants to know whats up with this guy and why hes so interesting

ngl kyle is probably suspicious or at least confused as why pete has started talking to him once hes over the initial weirdness he realises pete is kind of chill but the award palatable small talk hes trying to have with kyle is really annoying kyle def snaps at some point and asks him what the fuck pete is trying to gain out of this because its obvious hes not being himself.

pete is stubborn enough to not back down atp, hes not gonna let a conformist own him like that. so he starts being himself so much, to a degree where hes almost saying 'you wanted this, fine here you fucking go' in order to make kyle upset. but it doesnt work oh no!! kyle finds his goth eccentricities and pessimism so stupid thats its endearing!!!

nothing between them is inherently romantic or even entirely..friendly. more than anything they enjoy annoying each other in a constant loop of quips and rolled eyes. but theres just like.. something fiery underneath they wont address until they get wasted at a house party and let the alcohol do the talking

i have a habit of favouring either onesided petyle (on petes side ofc) or one that ends with a bad breakup because #stylesweep so a lot of my thoughts are biased towards that sort of ending. i just like relationship/situationship angst ok ...ive been there many times. a part of this angst is the idea that theyre each just 'the best they can get' in the moment. Pete's too internally self loathing to think kyle is actually in love with him or anything. theyre just having fun. its not serious. he refuses to think into any of it emotionally, though its kind of eating him up inside. meanwhile kyle is literally just taking it as it is. he feels a little guilty. he doesnt like pete like that (???) but he cant deny flirting and fooling around with him is fun. and also a distraction from stan getting back with wendy.

(I kind of had post-covid hightouch with xdinary heroes twice (it was just waving in front of each other, and I was forced, cause they just stood outside the concert venue, waving at the end of the concert lol) and I honestly can't remember anything from that. I’ve taken the ‘getting to know me’ part to heart - I don’t even follow tags for all these shows on tumblr. They are not necessarily my favourite right now, nor are they the shows I write/read fanfic for.

In no particular order:

Numb3rs - I grew up without a tv, so numb3rs was the first show I really picked out for myself, and I started watching it when I was ~15. It’s the only show I’ve ever gone out and bought every season of for myself. It’s just a really solid monster of the week detective show, with subtle and charming characters who are not too closely involved in the plots they investigate. Which is exactly my jam. One of my friends watched Numb3rs and chatted with me briefly about it, but I’ve otherwise never fangirled over it with anyone. Even though I still count it as one of my favourite shows of all time 15 years down the track. I’ve actually never read fanfic for Numb3rs, and I know next to nothing about the making of. I wouldn’t recognise the names of the actors or any of the showrunners, which is actually my ideal media consumption experience xD 

Buffy - First show I ever watched while surrounded by people who are obsessed with the show, and I had an excellent time with it. It was interesting because all my friends were teenagers when they watched it for the first time, but I was in my early twenties, and it was really interesting to see where my experiences of the show diverged from theirs. I don’t usually read Buffy fanfic, and some of my Buffy opinions are pretty controversial :P I think seasons 4-6 are the best, and I love Riley which seems to really bother some of my friends xD

Fallet - This show is a fucking fever dream. It took me a whole episode to work out that it was a comedy, it had some real ‘Douglas Adams’ vibes at the end, which was fun. It’s a murder mystery set in sweden that uses a mix of swedish and english, and it is best described as ‘kooky.’ My only IRL friend who watched it (after much nagging) did so while slightly feverish with covid. They seemed to have a good time, but I would not recommend doing this xD It’s wild enough without the delirium.

Vera - the quintessential ‘slow moving, episodic, british murder mystery.’ Vera is awesome (especially in the early seasons) for just being really fucking good. My favourite thing about this show is the leading lady - Vera is a grumpy, frumpy, middle aged woman without a maternal bone in her body. I am so sick of women needing to be kind and selfless to be a protagonist.

VGHS - now for something completely different! It’s a show made by a youtube special effects guy about a high school where you learn to play videogames. And it made me cry. A death notification set to an in-universe laugh track? Sign me up! It’s mostly super goofy, and the main character is way less interesting than all his friends, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Probably the closest thing to a pure comedy I will watch, but it makes it oddly poignant moments all the sweeter. Also, 10/10 ending. I don’t read fanfic of it either, and these days I’m waaay too old for the characters personally. I definitely had a bit of a thing for the main character’s gf tho. Ngl.

Shetland - I do this thing where I avoid looking at fan content for a show if I’m enjoying it on its own merits, because I want to experience it without the brain rot. Kinda weird, but it works for me. Shetland is funny because I could immediately see a pairing I wanted to explore, but I waited years for the show to go downhill before I let myself open ao3. Luckily, I think they caught up with the books, and changed hands around season 4ish, because the quality nosedived and I have read and written so many things for Jimmy/Duncan, and do not intend to stop xD I actually haven’t had the heart to watch the latest season, because I don’t think I’ll enjoy it all that much. Cool theme song though! And everyone should watch the early short seasons.

Capitani - I hate the hays code. And not just because of the moralising and the homophobia - it makes storytelling predictable. The impact it continues to have on all english speaking media is never more obvious than when you watch something from another part of the world and are completely blindsided by the emotional arc. Capitani fucking killed me. I’ve read that Capitani is Luxembourg’s only globally successful media product. I don’t know if that’s true, but I wasn’t sure if Luxembourg was a country or a city before I watched it, so it’s probably not far from the truth. I now have a fun little rap song in Luxembourgish on my spotify playlist! It won my heart forever when they set up a joke and completed it four episodes later without any call backs. Imagine having that much faith in your audience! I would read the shit out of fanfiction of the fucked up love story between Capitani and Karla, but unfortunately, there is none :(

MASH - My ex step father owned every season of MASH on DVD, and when I was 14 my friend and I would rush to my house to watch them while having sit-up competitions. I don’t know why this was a fun activity for two 14 year old girls, but I have so many fond memories of this time. It was the first tv show I ever watched sequentially, and the first show I ever watched start to finish. It was also the reason I beat all the boys in my class when we had to do those fitness tests in PE! xD I’m personally a bigger fan of the show post-season 3 when they had the big tone shift. While there are definitely funny scenes, the image in my head when someone mentions MASH is always Charles smashing up his record player. So while it’s famous as a comedy, that’s not really how I remember it. I keep meaning to go look up the show on ao3, because I am sooo curious about what the common pairings are, and what kind of tone the fics take.

I was curious as to how much I've improved over the years, so here's my summaries from 2020-2023, as well as my thoughts on them

Wow, 2020 was a shit year, but I do like some of the stuff here. Overall tho my art is nowhere near high quality. I'd love to redraw some of this, especially March. Also the characters in February and May I'm actually rebooting, so stay tuned!

This was...certainly a year. Honestly, it's one I both don't like (Covid bullshit, and me failing a class), but I genuinely like some of the stuff here, and I'm still heavily nostalgic for my first DnD campaign, and really miss it... Overall, it's sort of like the awkward stage where, yes it's way better than before, but it's still not there.

This is where art school really started to pay off, and when I got my art tablet (Although that was September).. I really enjoy a lot of stuff from here, even if this was when my temper was probably at its worst (as well as spring of 2023.) Overall, it's way better, but still has some awkward bumps, mainly from the anatomy. This was also the last year I used Medibang Paint, as I focused more on Photoshop, then a certain app....

Wow, I'm still amazed with how much I've improved. Especially from January (which ngl I still love that piece). Spring was also when my temper was at its worst, but I'm getting better. My mental health struggled in the fall semester because of the consequences of those actions, but I think I did good still. This was also when I got Clip Studio Paint and holy shit I'm glad I did. It's really been a great app for what I do, and definitely helped my art. This was also when I got super into NSFW art, but let's not go there. Overall, of these 3 years, this is my peak so far. Of course there's bumbs (anatomy still not quite there, and I got that dreaded Same Face Syndrome). But hopefully this can be an annual thing, where I reshare this with a new art summary.

Also close is Saoghal Tinn (00Q) which grasped me and never let me go - even if you don't know/ship them I'd recommend it if you like well written and tense zombie apocalypse stuff with gays.

And one I keep going back to for serotonin is Animal Instinct (Geraskier) I adore soft feral Geralt and when he's sad Jaskier won't eat the rats he brought him lives rent free in my head.

- Talking about trends hahaha tkk were trending for me so i checked in and saw the dancing video. Now don't get me wrong it was really cute and all but like i don't get the 'so romantic' part of it? I was actually surprised cause taehyung usually has striking chemistry with people but that video seems so brotherly/friendly i can't 😳 Like it seems so different from how taejin danced together before or even taekook in 2019 tour :) What do you think about it?

Hiii! I honestly don't have much, if anything at all to highlight about the show per se. I've said how the setlist is lacking for me, and there is no difference between these concerts and the Seoul ones, so I'm afraid really can't say anything that I haven't already said. Their energy is still good! Glad whatever those vibes in LA were, they were left behind in LA. They did seem a bit tired, tho. I watched one PTD fancam, you know it's the last song, and they were all just kind of doing the choreo, even Jimin and JK who usually are extra energetic. I was just surprised to see them tired, not JK because he had COVID literally a few days ago but the rest of them, I mean. Jimin never said anything about feeling bad after COVID but I don't think he would say that, so maybe he has been feeling the after effects, too. I didn't really pay attention to that during the Seoul concerts tbh. I had COVID and it wasn't that bad but I still felt out of breath for more than a month after that. Hope they'll be okay tonight.

About taekook, It's funny because the moment I saw Tae grabbing that headband I was like, is he gonna put that on JK or is he gonna wear that and do something with JK. And lo and behold. It was just okay, I guess. I've said a lot of times I don't find them particularly cute 😅 sure they have some cute and sweet interactions here and there, like the hug at the restaurant but they've never really ~pulled my heartstrings~ so to speak. That dance in particular didn't do anything for me. JK didn't seem that into it imo, he was just playing along with Taehyung. It probably had to do with him not feeling at his best condition, tho. I feel like the vmin dance of the same kind and then the jikook one during Festa 2020 were more.. charming? There wasn't anything romantic to it either for me, but then again, I don't think an interaction has to be romantic for people to be happy about it or to like the interaction. It can just be friendly, as most BTS interactions as a whole are, and it could still mean something for people. I agree yeah, even taekook 2019 was more charged than this particular dance piece. But it honestly seemed like JK wasn't into it. Maybe if he had been less tired, he would've been more into the dance.

And about jikook, I guess two highlights for me would be:

1) Very gay and honestly very telling of them that JK saw Jimin jumping and thought he was going to jump into his arms 😭 it's not even the only time that it has happened.

2) Them leaving the venue with Jimin's arms around JK's neck... I kind of swooned ngl.

I have something to say about the styling tho. I really like some pieces that they were wearing after the "serious" part of the concert, after black swan and all that. I liked Jimin's outfits, the last two he wore. Taehyung also had nice fits. But the rest had some really questionable outfits. It feels to me like the stylists tried wayyy toooooo hardddd (or didn't try at all) to make them look "casual" and it ended up looking messy and some of their fits had the energy of kids playing dress up.

Manga & Anime I've Binged This Month: July 2021

Anime:

(7/12) My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!: GAY AF BUT JUST UNDER THE RADAR ENOUGH TO SLIDE BY THE CENSORS?????? JESUS. A dumbass dense as a brick mf isekais herself into being the villain character in an otome (dating sim) game where the villain always dies/is exiled. To counter that, she changes EVERYTHING. And it's FANTASTIC. I watched the dub, which has its moments of meh, but otherwise suits it great. The story made me laugh and gasp and kept being fresh and surprising and of course it's based off a Light Novel like so many good new isekais are nowadays. Reverse Harem style but some of the "harem" characters are GIRLS. Yeah, and she even gets CONFESSED TO AND KABEDONED (wall slammed) BY OTHER GIRLS. Yeah. I love this show. 10/10, enjoy yourselves.

(7/13) If It's for My Daughter, I'd Even Defeat a Demon Lord: Add this to the list of "little girl child is adopted by an older male figure into a healthy father-daughter bonding experience and is honestly really cute and sweet but always has a tragic backstory" list! Little demon girl is found in the woods by an adventurer and of course he takes her in after some back and forth. He's 100% Maes Hughes here with 1000% less death! It's so cute! It gets kinda weird towards the end tho, very "I'm gonna marry the man who took me in and raised me" vibes which is, imo, very bad. I HOPE it doesn't fall into that trap but, c'est la vie. Overall, kinda boring, but the dub let me finish making a crochet tank top I've been ignoring so it gets a score boost. 8.5/10.

(7/15) That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Dub): Heads up, the Sub is on the Crunchyroll but the Dub is on Funimation but I have both so I get to watch both! Season 2 (part 2) is just now being released due to Covid so I'm happy to watch the series again. I'm actually really pleased by the Dub, the Sub was so good I thought it wouldn't compare but nope! Still good! What got me into the Isekai genre tbh. 10/10 I bought the Light Novels lmao save me

(7/17) Ace Attorney: Is Miles Edgeworth Does Gay? I own the anniversary edition of the games and haven't played more than a few hours so I binged the anime and now I'm 10 levels of Miles/Phoenix hell. Gay as shit. Funny, ngl, but I'm now obsessed with the fact that Japan's court system is corrupt as hell, I say OBJECTION in my daily life, and I found out the San Francisco Newspaper agrees with me. Life is wild sometimes. 8.5/10

(7/18) Beastars (S2): I watched the first season years ago ironically and then ended up really liking it. Story of my life. S2 came out the day of and I binged it with my younger bro and loved it AGAIN. Like... dude. 9/10 because honestly? Im gonna be recovering from the consensual leg mauling. CONSENSUAL. MAULING.

(7/26) Saga of Tanya the Evil: Set in a fantasy WWI, this Isekai features a capitalist who spoke to god and said "I'm an atheist" to which god said "Fuck you in particular". You love to hate Tanya and at some point it kinda clicks that although this character IS a sadist, mean, in no way nice and kinda evil, you start seeing the moments where they're very human start click into place. It's fascinating seeing this as almost a character study of Lawful Evil characters, but I think of this more as a palate cleanser for more Good Guys later in your media consumption. Just never read the comments that are with the series because you will regret it. 9/10.

(7/27) The Rising of the Shield Hero: I'm gonna be real if you're the type to get hung up on if things are too problematic to enjoy you'll probably not enjoy this. I'm not knocking people for doing so, just that the MC here LITERALLY has two slaves, he bought from a slaver, whom is not shown as an evil character in the series. And for some godforsaken reason the one time the slaves are released is framed as a bad thing????? I can't get over this tbh. I hate to admit this is one of the most fascinating and interesting and honestly fresh feeling isekai/anime I've seen in a hot minute. But it's got SLAVERY. It's whack. I can't wait for season 2. 9/10.
