Look, an update

SO Sorry for lack of posting. I plan to...then I keep going with what I woke up to do (work of yarny things) and then it's time to go to bed.

I know before I've done a dump post but those get really long (and I forget to add the “keep reading” line bar) so I'll just go with what I've done this past week and move forward. Yes?

I've been watching her podcast and love the homestead life she shows. I know I'd personally quit within the year (my attempts at a small kitchen garden would have starved us to death) so I admire her lifestyle and Maria is just a warm, knowledgeable, friendly, and hardworking woman I would love to get to know.

While I'm not using wool for this particular wrap, I am using up yarn from my summer yarn haul I bought on clearance. I'm making a pretty good dent in the yarn stash-both bought and gifted-and my skill at finding patterns to use up the yarn (versus finding a pattern then buying the yarn) is improving.

Yay me!

I had two sweater quantities of blue yarn-both different shades, content, companies-to choose from when I saw the Berroco Fountain knit sweater pattern. This is 100% acrylic. Yarn Bee, Soft & Sleek low pill fiber yarn.

I modified the pattern just a little bit (with some math and a bit of online research) to make ¾ sleeves. I just can't seem to stick 100% to a pattern though it is rarely my intention of making any changes. The pattern is why I chose it after all, rather than make up my own from scratch (I'm really bad at it but still trying).

I like this cardigan. It spoke to me. Unfortunately, the reviews make it sound like hell. Abandon all hope once you purchase it! They said  Don't throw your money away on this pattern, they said. Haters gonna hate, you know, but it seemed with good reason here. So rather than deluding myself into thinking I was the Chosen One to make this pattern work (on the first try of course) and prove the reviewers wrong (who all have more knitting experience than me by their reviews), I decided to try it another way. Because I still really like the look of the Boyfriend Cardigan by Kerin Demeler-Laurence.

I'm going to attempt to figure it out in the style of Roxanne Richardson who I saw thanks to Youtube analytics, talking about vintage sweater patterns and how she went about recreating it to fit her.

I have a few knitted garments under my belt, so I'm not completely new to the process in general. I'm nervous but mostly excited. I've already made a few notes about the cardigan and I'm still not put off by it. One of the next steps will be to make a swatch with the yarn I want to use to make the cardigan, but I don't have the yarn I want so this project is on the back burner for now.

There was a sale at Knitpicks and now I have yarn! Or will, once it gets dropped off at my door.

To which you might say, “But weren’t you going to work from your stash--?”

To which I say “Sales don’t happen when you want them to. And I have plans for...*does sloppy guesswork not-calculations* 70% of the yarn I have.” Just keep knitting, just keep knitting, just keep knitting.....Stay crafty y’all!

My knowledge of how to webcomic stopped at 2007, sorry. I’m prolly gonna bust out each panel as it’s own png, and maybe do a little thing where I act them out? Here are all five pages of “Pirate Penguin vs Medicine” Squished together, which is in my opinion, better than reading it a page per week. I serialized because my schedule demands that I must, but I’d rather just drop them all at once like a benevolent zeppelin captain.
