Big Bang Story Teaser #1!
Tumblr media
Hey everyone! The Big Bang teams are working hard on their stories and artworks, and this week I'm gonna tease what's coming, with a short summary for every story, one per day!
Coming in on April 17 are @anandabrat (writer), @madronash (beta) and @ninth-on-eight (artist), with this:
It's 1997, and when a quiet teenager in a book shop finds an old typewriter with the previous owner's name and address inside, she writes a letter. When the previous owner writes back, she takes the 1881 date on the letter in stride, and two kids start to fall for each other. This story isn't an AU so much as an epistolary reboot, letting Helena and Myka flirt, chafe against the people who underestimate them, become adults, and ultimately find a way to the Warehouse (together!) without McPherson or Paris as catalysts. The only obstacle in their path is time, and we all know that's no match for Myka Bering or Helena Wells.
Doesn't that sound amazing? Starting us off with a fresh take not just on the story itself but on storytelling in general, with the epistolary format! Don't know about you, but I can't wait!
If you're as excited as I am, please show your love by reblogging this (go wild in the tags too!) - nothing is more motivating and encouraging for a creator than seeing their work get love and attention! So, let's all cheer them on on their home stretch!

new game is to type one through ten in your tags and see what comes up. i think my favorite of mine is ‘my uncle told us he spent seven and a half hours in a sensory deprivation tank once’ but ‘gideon the ninth motherfucker’ is a close second

i just think it's so interesting that the Eighth House is the soul siphoner house, when Mercy is (to put it incredibly simply) an anatomist. as far as i'm aware, she has little to no interest in souls past the baseline interest she needs to have. but you know who was very interested in souls? Cristabel.
devote your life to god; then go ahead and end it to help a man who might as well be god understand soul magic. devote your second life to your best friend; devote your body to her; devote your second death to keeping her soul alive for infinity. have the House you built with her take your sacrifice and devotion, and make of it an abomination. talk about tragic irony.

No More
My head canon is that he wore the Eighth Doctor’s clothes because he never planned on living and never wanted to be anything other than a soldier who had a job to do. He wasn’t the Doctor anymore so what would be the point?
And that’s why he chose his dark clothes after the war. Mourning.

If you're in the mood for another sentence ask:
"Why nine?"
Thank you!
"Why nine?"
"It is an auspicious number," said Fëanáro, "the number of Aratar, Highest of the Ainur, who came down into Eä from the Timeless Halls." Nerdanel howled with such delight that the forest above them burst to life with birds scattering in alarm. "So you would make yourself the rival of Ilúvatar in Arda?"
"Not rival! Peer, perhaps." Fëanáro said it in jest, but there was that defensive twist at the corners of his mouth, in the squint of his eyes.
"Well, you will have to learn to create offspring of your thought as the Allfather did, for you will not father nine children by me."
Fëanáro pouted, and after a while said, "Seven?"
"Six."
"Six," Fëanáro allowed, and rolled her over to get to work.
