Households with gas or propane stoves regularly breathe unhealthy levels of nitrogen dioxide, a study of air pollution in U.S. homes found.
“I didn’t expect to see pollutant concentrations breach health benchmarks in bedrooms within an hour of gas stove use, and stay there for hours after the stove is turned off,” said Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability Professor Rob Jackson, senior author of the May 3 study in Science Advances. Pollution from gas and propane stoves isn’t just an issue for cooks or people in the kitchen, he said. “It’s the whole family’s problem.”
Among other negative health effects, breathing high levels of nitrogen dioxide, or NO2, over time can intensify asthma attacks and has been linked to decreased lung development in children and early deaths.

I was following the Alabama one closely and have a lot to say about this. they didn't just use nitrogen asphyxia either, they did this to a prisoner whose first execution had failed, leaving him traumatized by it. the whole thing went down as horrifically as you'd think, too. I do not want to dive into this at the moment, but as someone who's been briefly without a heartbeat before, I can tell you exactly what every minute was like for him based on the eyewitness accounts. there are few less humane manners in which to execute someone that come easily to mind.

rediscovered this snippet of Blackice writing recently:
and I stand by the headcanon that Jack is colder on the inside. so many fics have him exhaling frost particles, or talking about his frost power being a sort of "core" inside him, so it makes more sense to me if his skin is actually slightly warmer than his insides!
also, just to clarify, i don't just mean the inside of his mouth.
(tw - gore)
i also mean that if you vivisected him and played around in his organs, those would be colder too ♡
