March 9, 1987

Marc is born.

October 28, 1994

Layla is born. (idk why but I love how Oscar and May share birthdays w Marc and Layla (♡ヮ♡) they're different years but still)

~ 1996

Randall dies. Marc creates Steven. (this is a rough estimate. marc's 10th birthday eventually rolls around and he doesn't get a colorful drawing that he would tease but secretly love and collect in a drawer in his desk. he thinks of the last drawing he supposes he'd ever see, the unfinished goldfish with one fin, the one he spent a couple of months working up the courage to ask his dad to put in a frame and hang up in his room. his mom doesn't watch him blow out his candles, doesn't even leave her room. his 12th birthday rolls around and she's there, at the table, too loud, too unfamiliar, and he wants to disappear. steven draws him pictures. he keeps them right beside their pile of shared toys.)

~ 2004

Marc leaves home and enlists in the Marines. (he's crying, he knows he's crying, though he doesn't know why. he can't seem to remember much lately. after she picks up the belt, time becomes hazy. some part of him knows it's not steven.)

2007

On his second tour in Iraq, Marc goes AWOL in a fugue state, causing his superiors to catch on to his disorder and dig up his past. He is dishonorably discharged. He then becomes an underground boxer, where he meets Frenchie. (hours, it must be. he's losing hours when they find him wandering and he doesn't even know why.)

2008-2015

Marc becomes a mercenary. Layla joins her father on his trips to archeological sites. (one trip turns into two, then two into three. soon, layla finds herself hanging onto every word, every lesson, everything her father could give her. she takes it all in and feels proud to share his name.)

2015

Marc works for his former commanding officer, Raul Bushman. During one of their missions in Egypt, Bushman executes all of the archeologists at the dig site, including Doctor Abdallah El-Faouly. Bushman then shoots Marc, who ends up crawling towards Khonshu's temple and becomes Moon Knight. Marc tries to approach El-Faouly's daughter to tell her what happened but cannot bring himself to follow through. Layla is 21 and Marc is 28 when they meet.

2018

The Snap. (they're split up when it happens, when half the world disappears, and suddenly the space they're taking up in each other's lives becomes much more real. much more warm.)

Layla and Marc go on missions together, locating Egyptian relics. Layla calls them 'adventures'.

They move into a place 20 minutes near Brixton. (I feel like they've lived in a few different places around the world together but their place in London has been their home for a while, including when Marc left Layla. When she's talking to Lagaro, she mentions Steven "living 20 minutes away from our old place". In my head it's like this. Marc wants to still be close to her so Steven gets a flat near their place, even if it's risky. After Marc leaves, Layla's trying to keep busy and is not actually in London when Steven turns on the phone. Maybe she's in a different time zone on a mission, winding down for the night, checking to see if she's able to track him and sorta has to stare at the screen for a minute bc she can. Maybe it's the middle of the night but she's wide awake now, and immediately calls him. "Why did you call me M-Marc?" She's angry, of course she is, but as soon as she hangs up, she books the earliest flight to London. Then when she gets there, she goes to their place, takes her Vespa to the streets and almost runs over her husband who will not drop the accent for some reason.

Early 2025 (2 months before start of show)

Wendy Spector dies. Marc leaves Layla and sends her unsigned divorce papers. Steven predominately fronts, living in a flat 20 minutes away from Marc and Layla's apartment.

Mid-2025

Steven turns on Marc's burner phone, causing Layla to track him down. They get split up during a fight with a jackal. The first time Layla sees Marc in around 2 months is in Cairo. (he can't even be mad at her. his face says it all.)

toooootally agree that steve dying in s4 would have made sense. after all the mentions of running away and steve never doing that, his death would have hit home that standing and fighting isn't always the best (or smartest) choice. also think about how interesting that could have been for eddie, unceremoniously placed in the big brother position

It's a plotline that not only /didn't/ fit Eddie's overall story, but /would/ have fit Steve's arc so perfectly if they hadn't decided to use him largely for comic relief and regurgitated relationship drama in S4 and had actually, y'know, written him an arc.

This is a guy we've seen come back from having the absolute shit kicked out of him three seasons in a row, who throws himself into the line of fire with very few questions asked of himself other than "will this choice help keep these people safe" and who-- this is the interesting part for me-- always gets back up.

He's almost over powered with the way he can take a hit and keep going and it grows with intensity every season 1-3 to the point where you can see him getting more reckless with his human shield endeavors. Steve has gotten up before, he knows this about himself, he has convinced himself that this means he'll be able to get up again, convinced himself that he'll resurface from that lake to the degree where he just does it so casually.

But that's not true. The opportunity to have Steve run headlong into a frenzy of creatures that he was already almost taken out by once and /needed/ backup to survive without that backup, to do it for Dustin's sake after building that relationship up so thoroughly during s2-3, and then for him to not only not get back up again, but for it to have BEEN IN VAIN? because they still don't WIN?

AND THEY DECIDED NOT TO TAKE THAT OPPORTUNITY?

The version of that scene where Dustin is sobbing over Steve's dying body pleading "No-- Steve-- you die, I die-- Hey, stop, you die, I die, got it? You son of a bitch you die. I die. Don't you fucking dare, please, please--" while Steve smiles and reassures him because he has so much faith that this is worth it because it's over now, it must be lives rent free in my mind.

The version of S5 that gives us the opportunity to see the fallout of what losing one of our original s1 characters does to the rest of them-- does to Dustin in the trauma of watching it happen, does to ROBIN who is half a soul down when she was within /walking distance/ of his final stand, does to Nancy who has got to be convinced at that point that her love is a death sentence, does to Max who has now lost two older brothers (even if this one is both less and more complicated because she actually felt /safe/ around him), does to Lucas who has looked up to Steve in so many ways, does to Eddie who is new to this group and now feels the utterly incomprehensible size of the shoes dropped at his feet to fill-- a sword to carry when his chosen path had always been a shield? Yeah. that lives rent free in my mind too.

The Duffers are cowards who didn't want to kill off a fan favorite and risk losing viewership in their last season and I for one think it hurt them in the long run.

"Rohan survived the reset" is only intelligible if his "survival" involves him being flung into a completely different universe. If you're saying this under the assumption that the SBR-verse IS the reset universe, then you're way off. The universe that SBR, Jojolion, Jojolands takes place in was never reset.

If we number the universe, parts 1-5 and 6 pre-MiH is universe 1, the failed universe Pucci made is universe 2, and the Ireneverse is universe 3. Universes 2 and 3 are connected as they stem from 1. But the SBR-verse is entirely separate, a standalone mirroring the OG.

So if the Jojolands Rohan is the Rohan from universe 1, not only would he have survived the resets into universes 2 and 3, but he somehow crossed dimensions into universe 4.

And to be even more pedantic, Rohan would automatically survive the reset because he didn't die in universe 1. You only get remade in universes 2 and 3 if you died in the original. (Which brings up some really fucked up scenarios not only regarding living members like Holly remembering OG Jotaro, but Jotaro no longer being Jotaro, but also world histories of these universes since most of humanity in totality is dead- how can a universe otherwise have the same modern era endpoint if every single person predating this era is dead and thus remade as totally different people?) So Rohan would be the same Rohan, but with knowledge of his ongoing fate in universe 2; 3 would simply be Rohan.

So, does he recall universes 1? Does he recall the bizarre jumps into universes 2 and 3? Where does Hot Summer Martha fit into this, in terms of which universe it takes place in?

Or this is a universe 4 Rohan who just happens to look exactly like OG Rohan, have the same name, and the same career. ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

Also, it’s kinda funny that Marvel repeatedly acknowledges that CA:TWS is their best and most popular movie (bc it genuinely is, even the film bros regard it far higher than IW and EG) yet they have two of the main characters from that movie that they can expand on and make similar storylines with and they just……give them half baked arcs and messy scripts, or cut their screen time……

Like maybe, idk just a random thought, just a potential solution, but maybeeee it’d be easier to create that level of success again if you expanded on the characters that were in that movie to begin with….Like maybe you could recreate the effect of CA:TWS if you wrote a good script about the new Captain America and the former winter soldier….maybe you could give those two characters from the fan favorite movie the spotlight…..idk tho that might be a huge reach

Pretty much all Krakoans being chill with Greycrow is a little weird since I can't imagine many people being happy with him just being around. Characters like Wolverine asking for him specifically to go fight Moira together when I don't think the two of them have ever had a positive interaction doesn't really make any in-world sense. Even though Greycrow has helped the X-men multiple times pre-krakoa I don't think he's done enough to really "prove" himself to the other characters and the only characters on Krakoa who should be chill with him are Kwannon, Havok and Wild Child. Like is everyone cool with him being around just because he's dating a war captain? Or is his food just that good?

I also wanna know how the other og marauders feel about him, because I truly doubt they are getting the same treatment as he is. We haven't really seen them even though we know they're on Krakoa so are they just hanging out together pissed off that Greycrow gets to wear an x on his belt while they still get glared at by the same mutants that are going to John's restaurant every week.

I hope we get to see him interact with one of the Morlocks and actually see him work to try to make things right instead of just feeling sad and guilty. While I don't think he'll ever get their forgiveness, and he doesn't actually want their forgiveness (yes I'm talking about the hate me the way I hate myself scene) I just think it would be good character development to get some closure on it.

as soon as you enter the arena, there is a ball hitting the door next to your face roughly as you shriek and jump away. you pant slightly, holding your hand over your heart as you look over at sukuna who is thoroughly entertained by your reaction.

“sukuna!”

“somethin’ wrong?” you don’t answer him, only glaring a little at his amused smirk as you were just kindly reminded of your first very unlucky meeting.

you close the entrance door behind you and step closer to the court, looking around curiously.

“is there anyone else in here, ‘kuna?”

“no, loser, ‘s just me ‘n you.”

you hum, feeling his arms wrap around you from behind, “so why did you call me here then?”

“i was just bored.”

you don’t say anything in response, worming your way out of his hold and pecking his cheek lightly before you continue roaming around, kicking the balls he previously tossed with your feet lightly, hands itching to try and get it through the rim of the basket. as if reading your thoughts, sukuna calls your name.

“wanna play with me?” he wiggles his eyebrows, spinning the ball expertly on his index finger while your mouth opens in surprise and closes shut in an instant as you look away sheepishly.

“i don’t know how to play tho.”

sukuna steps closer to you, eyeing you down, “nothin’ hard about it, baby, you just do anythin’ to get the ball and throw it ri-ight there.”

he doesn’t even turn his head to look at the basket as he tosses the ball there, which makes your eyes widen in awe as you clap for him excitedly. sukuna ruffles your hair with a soft look on his face, heart warming at your childish reaction, and gets another ball.

his movements get quicker as he manoeuvres around you, ball sharply moving from one hand to another, so quick that you can’t even chase his figure properly, spinning around as you watch him with a mesmerised look. sukuna stops abruptly and locks gazes with you for a second.

“watch and learn,” he says and then expertly tosses the ball into the basket. you don’t really follow his body’s motion, more focused on the ball that flies smoothly over the field, so it’s no surprise that when sukuna gives you the ball to repeat what he just did(or do something similar to get a shot in) you can barely even through it high enough, it’s weight straining your untrained arms.

while sukuna scolds you and basically bullies you into doing what he says, you think about how he could have been a good enough teacher, with his no nonsense attitude and immunity to your whines. but it doesn’t matter when he’s literally bending your body forwards or sideways to warm it up a little before you go for another failed shot, and you can barely think about anything else than wanting to go back to bed.

yet, soon enough his hard work pays off; you give it a one last go and finally get the ball in the basket, an excited scream leaving you as you jump up and down in joy.

“‘kunaa, i did it!” you shout, your voice echoing through the arena as you run towards sukuna and jump on him, wrapping your limbs around him while his arms instantly hold you.

he can’t help his own winning smile as he strokes the top of your head gently, walking around with you hanging off of him.

“knew you could, baby.”

the tender kiss he places on your lips makes your head spin as you reciprocate just as tenderly, slowly letting go of him to stand on your own. sukuna pecks your lips one last time before moving to your cheek and then your neck while you try to contain your lovesick giggles to yourself because he is making you feel things.

“will you kiss me like that too when i also get a point?” comes a voice from behind sukuna, making you jerk away to stand slightly behind him.

you watch him roll his eyes before turning to face the source of the voice — his teammate, toji fushiguro, who’s a total pain in the ass. you are quiet familiar with him not only from sukuna’s stories(more like raging complaints), but also because toji was insistent on befriending you.

“fuck off, fushiguro.”

toji’s smirk widens as his eyes move to you, winking flirtatiously and waving his fingers at you just like he usually does. you give him a small wave from behind sukuna, a tight smile on your lips, before you tug on his shirt to get his attention back to you.

standing on your tiptoes, you kiss his jaw and give him a meaningful look: meaning that he shouldn’t get riled up by toji’s comments or anything towards you. sukuna only nods with a slight roll of his eyess and gently pushes you towards the empty benches.
