Winter Warmth: Fire | Tea | and Songs of Memories

When winter engulfs the place with its coldness, those moments arise that make the heart beat with a special warmth that can only be described in its small details. So much had happened since I left this city,

The place of my childhood dreams,

Trekking to school under the early morning sun,

Praying in my tender heart that the bell won’t go before me.

Grumbling all the way,

Especially if Mama refused to grease my palm,

Until I learnt to be a good girl.

It was the same sloppy road,

It was the same bushy lonely path,

Except for the new buildings,

I could remember vividly,

The same spot where I lost my bag,

Crying my way to school to complain,

That nostalgic feeling was so glaring,

Though it was twelve years back.

Now,

I’m treading that same path again,

I’m beginning to pick some familiar crumbs,

This was because,

Each time I passed,

It give me reasons to pause and reflect,

The beautiful magic time presents,

Just like watching the pupa turn into a butterfly,

So much hidden in time.

So much had happened since I left this city,

Probably If I had stayed I wouldn’t notice the changes,

How time flies,

Who would ever believe,

That the little girl of yesterday,

Has become that lady she always admire,

I never knew that time has so much to tell,

Until I cross this path again.

When I close my eyes I remember SO MANY birthday parties at #CasaBonita. This place has forever been etched into my #Memories!! 😍 Every time family came to visit, this was most likely a place we went. You didn’t get go for the food… 🤣 If you’re from Colorado…you know the food used to be pretty bad. You went for the environment and the experience. You went for the #CliffDivers!!

Casa Bonita, meaning “Pretty House” in Spanish, opened in 1974! I didn’t know it used to be part of a Mexican food chain that first originated in Oklahoma City.

The restaurant has since attracted a cult following among Colorado residents since its opening, and is considered by many to be an iconic establishment of Lakewood and the greater Denver metropolitan area.

In 2015, Casa Bonita was designated as an #HistoricLandmark. In 2020, it was sad to see it temporarily close due to the pandemic. By 2021, its owner filed for bankruptcy. Later that year, it was acquired by #SouthPark creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. They bought the restaurant for $3.1 million dollars and paid close to $40 million to renovate it. The restaurant held a soft relaunch beginning June 23, 2023, and is now billing itself as “The Greatest Restaurant in the World!” 🥰

I’m so glad it’s still around for everyone to enjoy. I recently was able to go with my mom for lunch and we absolutely had a blast!! The food is soooo much better! I really liked the #CarnitasTacos!! We saw the cheesy #FunMagicShow, explored #BartsCave, enjoyed music by the #iconicMariachiBand, we’re mesmerized by the cliff divers, and ate all the #sopapillas we wanted!! It was awesome!! 🤩
