current project: streamline my editing process

#i've been using other people's psds forever #today i decided i'll make some of my own #ts4 psds #ts4 templates #i thought about what i would realistically use for my own posts #and this is what i came up with #one day i'll upload and share but i don't think she's quite ready yet #the weather and location things have FOLDERS of the appropriate icons #i even made pngs of a few world icons bc i couldn't find any past komorebi #:((#i plan on introducing new characters using the name tag lol

random note about king on that animation, i got really lucky with how simple his animation was and how clean my sketches were to begin with that i was able to do very minimal cleanup on what i had sketched (and add back. his horn. it's supposed to take place just after echoes of the past, Oops) and call it done that way instead of having to redraw the entire thing like i had to on his dad

first sketch > line cleanup > nearly final animation (i'd added slight eye movements last-second but otherwise that's the final)

#toh #the owl house #animation #gif #king clawthorne #the lineart slightly flickers on his one paw where i had to erase the tag and i thought it would bother me a lot more #but most people seem to use the internet on their phones - coupled with the darker palette and color of his fur #it basically completely hides it #based on feedback i don't think a lot of people realize i made that and it's not a gif from the show lmfao #BUT ITS STILL REALLY NICE THAT PEOPLE THINK IT IS!!!! I AM NOT AN ANIMATOR I AM JUST A HOBBYIST...#i animate like once a year... shits hard man.... but apparently when i do animate. its extremely good :) proud of that #even if i have an extremely unhinged way of animating #i don't have an animation program i draw everything individually frame by frame in photoshop #each character had their own psd file with the same background and every frame was its own group. twice. one for sketch one for colors #i do test takes with gifcam (there are literally 55 WIP gifs in my documents folder rn) by switching between layers and taking a 'frame'#and i compile in blender's video editor and to move things separately i save each character's frame in its own .png 'cel'#so luz was her own 'cel'. king was his own 'cel.' etc. and then i have to manually slide the lengths of the frames around #to match the right framerate. traditionally animation is animated at 24 FPS on 2's - so 12 frames a second. i go on 3s. 4 to slow down #anime-ass framerate. i'm insane apparently but its what i like to do #i dont understand real animation programs they have too many pieces but i DO understand photoshop and my funny brushes #imagine having Digital Programs and Still basically doing ye olde traditional animation method just in the computer #if im Just making a gif then i only use gifcam and switch between layers. like digital stop motion. somethings wrong with me

#elena of avalor #beauty and the beast #batbedit #disneyedit #eoa edit #belle x beast #estebalena #kinda but also not kinda #I think a lot about the fact that it's been confirmed that this is an intentional homage #like EoA series supervising director Elliot M. Bour was just like casually bringing BATB into things as an Easter egg #since it was his first job in animation #and like don't get me wrong; I LOVE that he did this. I just don't know how he expected anyone (i.e. me) to be normal about it afterwards #once you've introduced BATB; it ceases to be a fun and casual reference and just makes the literature major girlies go feral #i thought this was gonna be a quick and easy little project but it wasn't #the parallels are all there but they're in slightly different order in EoA than the original and the pacing for each reference is differen #so i had to determine which ones I needed to skip frames for and which ones to use all the frames #and then try to figure out the speed from there #the coronation day scenes were very hard to color because the grey skies and muted filter kind of whitewash the characters #like you don't even understand i added so MUCH vibrance and saturation to the 4th and 5th gifs but elena's skin still is just gray #and the coloring is still just a very very mixed bag #also i've realized that while I don't think it was an intentional reference in the same way BATB was #anna's sacrifice and resurrection from frozen is perhaps just as --if not more-- a clear parallel to the coronation day scene than BATB #so maybe I will do that one someday too?#once i psych myself up again to try coloring coronation day again #which i imagine will be awhile #these do not look like the same scene and pretty much the same scene at all even if i tried to use the same psd when i could #and edit them to make the coloring as close as i could

#I NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO YOU FUCKERS #NEVER SHOULD HAVE TOLD YOU SHIT.#the answer to your question is. never. because for some reason i have no problem cranking out 50 separate concept drawings #but having to do 50 sequential drawings within the same concept seriously drains me #like even those mini comics when i finish (and they only have 3-6 drawings) im like WHEW that has a kick to it #im gasping panting on the verge of throwing up from exhuastion #which is all a shame becuase when driving to work i visualize some absolutely bangin ones #too bad you will never see it #ok ok maybe someday id do like. a short one. a sampler. like 30s.#but its also a matter of i dont know how to use/access any of the programs used for boarding on timelines #so it would just be a mess of folders on one psd or a mess of 50 dif psds #its exhausting me to even think upon rn #ask
