Currently replaying OMORI because I'm a masochist with my best friends @beevean and @the-crow-binary providing emotional support lmfao. Even despite how soul-crushingly boring it is, I think we're still having some sort of fun with this clusterfuck of a game

Highlights (and the misc. problems we've managed to spot) so far include:

I already knew that this game's length was detrimental to it during my first solo playthrough, but this playthrough is helping me put into perspective just how bloated OMORI is, even when it comes to an aspect like dialogue. For example, a single conversation between Space Boyfriend and the main cast took us approximately 5 minutes to get through, and it's not like the writing is gripping enough to make us give a shit about the characters or anything they're saying

Speaking of the dialogue, you can just see how hard it tries to be witty and Quirky™ the way Earthbound and indie RPGs like Undertale were. Needless to say, it fails horribly, and the end result of that was me having to fast-track some conversations because they were unfunny and weren't relevant at all

I got unintentionally (!) stuck in White Space for 15-20 minutes because I couldn't find the map the game needed me to find to let me open the door. Beev came to hate the repetitive 8-bit BGM the area had by the time I finally found the map lol. game_design.exe

Headspace's music is so ear-gratingly abysmal oh my god. I can only call it "dollar-store Kirby music" because that's the most appropriate description that comes to mind and I'm pretty sure Lost at a Sleepover gave Beev severe PTSD. Of course, the music of Faraway Town isn't any better: the "track" that plays in the first fight with Aubrey is less music than it is the result of an .exe file being put through an audio player. Sonic Chronicles might have some serious competition in the "worst video game soundtrack" category asdfghjkl

The plot of the Faraway Town segments is so cookie-cutter that it genuinely hurts to sit through. Character writing (or the lack thereof) aside, Sunny and Kel spend half a day loitering around the town and asking Aubrey's cronies where she is even though Kel could've easily gotten that information from Mikhael had he just indulged the latter's delusions of grandeur a little bit

Faraway Town's daytime sky is literally a scrolling JPEG of a cloudy sky. The battle backgrounds of the real world segments are edited JPEGs as well. Everyone's houses look exactly the same on the outside save for some of them being a different color. The developers spent six years and more than $200,000 on this game.

Sunny's fights against his fears are boring. You just need to wait until a particular turn when the game grants you a special skill you use to end the fight immediately. What was the point of designing these hallucinatory monsters if the player doesn't get to fight them at any point during the main route?

Aubrey (ostensibly) swinging a nail bat at Sunny is not treated with the same degree of realism as Sunny slashing her with a knife. Additionally, Aubrey rides away on her scooter just fine even though she's supposed to be bleeding

Mari's picnic baskets are inexplicably scattered all across the town and fulfill the exact same function as they do in Headspace. So much for realism!

I won two of the fights against Aubrey's goons even though I was trying to lose. gameplay.exe

Sunny is even more unpleasant than I remember. He doesn't respond to Basil - who is supposedly his best friend - when the latter talks to him, stays silent while (and after) Kel vents to him about Hero yelling at him and barges into the church despite Kel advising him to wait until the sermon ends. Why should I feel bad for him again?

Kel generally seems to treat Sunny like an actual baby, spelling out incredibly obvious things to the latter (e.g. that Sunny shouldn't be carrying a knife or walking in the road because it's dangerous) and making all of Sunny's decisions for him, to the point of not allowing Sunny to return into his own house until nighttime under the pretense of "there's so much to do! it's a brand new day!"

Finally, the "fight" against Sunny's fear of spiders comes completely out of nowhere since nothing triggered said fear during Sunny's adventures outside

Peak game, everyone.

-boy is so whipped and smitten. It only grows stronger the older they get.

-tourists have tried to start a small romance with him over the years, but to no avail. Andy literally only has eyes for Jasmine and this ain’t no Grease story

-Jasmine has had crushes on other boys though over the years, much to Andy’s dismay. He fights through it with an encouraging smile and hopes that the family will leave Sandrock like the rest or that those that live nearby, like Burgess and Haru once did, will frequent the town less.

-you know those pacts a pair of best friends will make when they’re young? Jasmine and Andy made one do those.

-when they’re a certain age and still single, they’ll get married and stay together. Jasmine sees it as a financial benefit at first, Andy sees it as a sign of hope.

-Andy makes it so blaringly obvious that he’s in love with her and has been, the signs becoming stronger over the years while still subtle and she’s like “he’s become such a great guy since I first met him. What a fantastic friend🥰”

-Miguel is just happy that they’re consuming so much text and books. He’s not gonna question it. They’re reading more than kids their age typically do. This is good, this he can get behind.

-Jasmine is a blushing red of angry and suddenly finds herself at the Blue Moon, grumbling under her breath while still trying to mind her manners as Owen slowly pushes a plate of cookies in her direction while side-stepping out of view

-and Andy is literally quiet and sulking around the whole day. He can’t apologize until she’s ready, they both know that (even if he’s not at fault 💀). Don’t be too surprised if you find the kid laying on the ground curled up around Nemo staring off blankly while stroking his fur. He’s fine.

-when a fresh batch of tourists come in, the two tend to stick close only because of how crowded it gets. Not because a whole lot of people come in, but because they’re not used to Sandrock and they just take up a lot of space in their wandering.

-oh, but if they’re older and those tourists coming in are their age and students traveling around for their study? It’s no surprise that the two are everywhere together to give the illusion that their friend is taken.

First impression

My first impression of him was kinda muddled because all I could think about the first couple of chapters or so of the DLC was "IS that the same voice actor as Claude???" (Now I can clearly hear the difference between them, but I couldn't at first, and it IRKED me until I finally looked it up...)

But apart from that, Yuri is almost exactly the kind of character I tend to be drawn to/enjoy in media. The aspects of him that weren't initially part of that for me, like how he keeps his appearance, quickly became part of what I like about it. So now I probably won't be able to fully enjoy similar kinds of characters that don't quite have "all that is Yuri" in the same way anymore... He is so multi-faceted I love him

Impression now

I love him so much. He is so fun and so smart and so capable. I love his banter with the other wolves. I love writing him. I love drawing him. I love the way his voice actor does his voice. I love his outfit in Three Hopes. I love the frowny face he makes. I love the cheeky smile he makes. I love literally everything about him except for his pointy shoes

Favorite moment

Aaaah that is so hard to choose. I like the part in his Three Hopes A support with Ashe where he's all "and if I'm caught and the townspeople hurl stones and rotten fruit at me as I walk to the gallows, then I shall die with a smile on my face". I like when he's all schemy like when he pretends to flirt with Byleth in order to set a trap for [spoiler]. I like when he says "I'd even lick the mud from your boots, my lord!" in a dumb voice with Constance. I like when he makes up the nickname "The Abyssal Four" on the spot and then is disappointed when the other wolves don't play along. I like literally every single time that he calls Constance "Shady Lady". I like when he's too fed up to pretend to be charming and he goes all matter-of-factly or sharp (like in the Ashen Wolves paralogue when he says "I take care of my own. That's all" in response to Constance's shrewdness, or "If I get hurt in the process, that's just part of the deal" in the Ashe A support). I like his partner special with Hapi where she says "I want to see Yuri-bird fly" and he goes "Then feast your eyes!". I like when he's a smirky bastard. Asdfghjkl I like all Yuri moments so much...

Idea for a story

ALL THE STORIES ARE ACTUALLY ABOUT YURI.

No but alright. More specifically I have a (very rough) wip that's a modern college roommate AU with him and the wolves where he's a psych student who agrees to help Coco develop an app that she thinks will make her famous. Also in it he is half French and has an advice podcast under the pseudonym "The Savage Mockingbird". Constance doesn't know he's the one behind it, but she keeps calling in to the podcast to argue with him about his so-called "advice" which she does not agree with one bit.

I also have some notes from 2020 for a story about Claude and Hilda in which Yuri blackmails Hilda to get to Claude. But I will probably never actually write that one.

i’ve read lots of fics. from the very emm unorganised storyline, to perfecto storyline. or the messed up vocabulary/grammars to the most AI-like vocab and grammar fics. or the fluffiest fics to the most disgusting/ disturbing fics - i’ve read it all throughout my reading fanfics journey-

and i must say that cmar is really quiet the disturbing one- no hate though seriously, i just read all the genre and appreciate the story as it’s the art of literature in language and story. i love literature btw and right now pursuing my degree in this field.

thus im here just to share my two cents, that cmar is really quiet near to the masterpiece. why quiet near? because i have to wait till this piece of story finish- to comprehend the whole storyline and the ending. eheks- not doing research don worry, i just here learning to analyse since i have class that i learned how to analyse a poem/ stories etc. ㅋㅋㅋㅋ something akin to review ?? yes. and my prof said that to be a great writer you have to get feedback from readers- and i love you, ergo you know what i mean right ;)

what is disturbing? the character development. mc’s character quiet disturbing as she’s been through a lot of abusive past. also she lives is criminal environment, dark and vicious, thus i understand why she’s act like how she is. also, i like it how she stands up for herself even though she’s broken. she’s really strong for that even though i might say it’s 50-50 she’s strong yet she’s broke - so that’s a whole lot of a person could endure but she had it all.

what is more, the antagonists characters, her father, leehyun, karl, kihyun, etc- lots of them, like really lots- and honestly? i can’t keep track on them, and confused between these characters and their bad deeds. and i am so so sorry that sometimes i keep skipping some parts,thereby after awhile i go back and re read it again to understand the plot better-

sometimes i feel like, the focus on throwback were too much?? but somehow i feels like it’s necessary because the flashback will justify the current action why the characters do that. right?? but is there any other way to write it so that the readers don’t feel like to skip the part?? i’ve been meaning to ask that - welp it can be a question in my next class . :3

for the boys (our tannies) there’s not much i can say though, because there’s not much exposure on them for these few chapters- thus, im hoping in future chapters maybe?? well that’s up to you ;)

overall, i really hope that you take this as a compliment im so sorry if i misled or something but i am really said this as a compliment. because, i had this one assessment and i really tried hard to write something that out of my comfort zone. i was trying to write something like this for my assessment but my prof said that i don’t quiet reach there yet- thus i just opted to write something small and sad and not quiet like this, a bit shame on me but still got an A so yeah- ㅋㅋ

asdfghjkl thank you for using your pursuit for literature and looking at my work through an analytical standpoint lmao. it's honestly so great to hear insight from the perspective of a reader. one thing i'd definitely like to note on is your point on the antagonists. i completely understand with just skipping over a few things when it comes to them, which is honestly fine lmao, i tend to do that when i'm ready other stuff as well. i'm not sure how i can write it in a way where you wouldn't feel like skipping through some stuff to be honest. y/n's traumas are highlighted through these antagonists and i guess when it comes to cmar, it just isn't your typical romantic fanfiction stuff. whereas many fics focuses on their y/n and the character they're writing the fanfic based on, or they just mainly focus on the boys in general, cmar's focus is on y/n and her trauma.

i guess you can say in a way, it's less fanfiction and more story-like, since there are insights into these antagonists, as well as y/n and her people, her reapers, instead of the main focus being on mending the relationship between y/n and the boys.

i do see that i definitely should incorporate more moments with the boys. next chapter focuses on one of the guys so you'll get that there.

all in all, i enjoy writing cmar so much, as difficult as it is, and having this part of the work (your analysis) is really nice and refreshing, so thank you for that 💛

finished persona 3 portable... as expected the ending killed me asdfghk... I’ll talk more under the cut, but ultimately, I really had a good time! it had its faults, of course - some characters and the lore in particular could have been developed a lot more, and obviously parts of the gameplay were dated - but it hit all the right emotional beats, and I think that’s the most important thing here. probably a 7/10 experience, and I’d be very excited to see a remake of it.

I’ll speak about gameplay first, since that’s obviously the weakest thing. there were a couple of bosses which were pretty memorable, like the wheel of fortune/strength battle, and the first part of the nyx avatar fight (where their arcana keeps changing), but ultimately, most of the gameplay was kind of a slog. given how old the game is though, I was sort of expecting that, and therefore wasn’t disappointed. not being able to choose the specific skills your persona inherited though was particularly annoying asdfghjkl

onto the plot/characters, while there were obvious faults, the way the theme of endings/death was implemented was fantastic. I think this shone through in particular during the social links - while some of the school ones were a bit boring sans saori’s, the rest of them really hammered home the game’s central theme. I think this is why I dramatically prefer the social links in P5 and P3 over the ones I’d done in P4 - they really resonate with the story a lot more.

I liked most of the members of SEES, even if I’m not quite as attached to them as I am the phantom thieves. junpei, yukari, and akihiko were great, and I don’t have any fuuka criticisms, even if I’m less attached to her. ken is an interesting character on paper, but I wished they fleshed out his revenge murder/suicide scheme a bit more. koromaru is cute, and while his general concept is a bit silly, the fact that he’s literally Just A Dog means that he doesn’t embrace some of the tedious tropes teddie/morgana do. 

ironically enough, given I thought they’d probably be my favs, I found aigis and mitsuru to be the weakest playable characters. while aigis gets a lot of very good development near the end of the game, I wish her opening up to the team/becoming more human was a bit more gradual, y’know? like, the fight with ryoji/death should have been the turning point in her development, not its start. meanwhile, I think mitsuru is really hurt by her confidant being so late game, in conjunction with her being pretty sidelined during the ken/shinjiro arc, even though the events there should have affected her nearly as much as akihiko. 

speaking of shinjiro, him, ryoji, ikutsuki, mitsuru’s dad, and the non-chidori members of strega each suffer from a terminal lack of screen time/development. while shinjiro’s social link was cute, he really doesn’t do much otherwise except get murdered - fuck, I never even used him in tartarus since he was way overleveled compared to my team. meanwhile, while ikutsuki and strega are interesting on paper, ikutsuki’s whole deal is super rushed, and strega’s whole schtick is all over the place. on the other hand, while I get why ryoji only appears when he does, I think him being around for an extra month really would have given his character a bit of an extra punch. 

in fact, the lore in general is pretty underdeveloped, and I think it’s the main thing they should flesh out more if/when they remake this game. while I know FES’ postgame gives it a bit more depth, that’s sort of like slapping a bandage over a leaky hole. 

still, like I said before, despite its faults, most of the emotional beats resonated with me. when the game wanted me to feel happy, I felt happy, and when it wanted me to feel sad, it punched me in the guts without hesitation.

This right here? Strap yourself in because I am 100% on board with everything you've sent!! I am totally down for all of it and it's funny because even though these two have only just started interacting, already they have developed such a strong relationship and I honestly never saw it coming because DC and Resident Evil aren't series you'd expect to see together? I am glad that it happened though, because so far I have really enjoyed these two to the point of getting OBSESSED. The way you write BERTHA, her past with Umbrella and Raccoon City - everything about her character is captivating and Copperhead's in deep, whether he likes to admits it or not. Their friendship is off to a good start already. These two really aren't nice people at all - they're cold, cruel, exacting in their work and utterly ruthless as to the lengths they'll go to in order to accomplish what's necessary. Together? That coldness melts away, these two very damaged people finding common ground, even solace in one another. It's ironic in the most *chef's kiss* sense that these two people, barely distinguishable from the monsters around them can be so gentle, dedicated towards each other in ways they'd never be for others?. That blooming into a committed relationship? Sign me the fuck up because I am SO invested in what these two have already and want so much more, to see where this goes, have their feelings grow because fuck, these two need it, they deserve to be happy together??? There is a ton of potential either way, coworkers standing together as BERTHA now finds a way to move on, keep herself alive since Umbrella became defunct. Copperhead wouldn't be any more repulsed by her condition anymore than she is by his appearance and it becomes easier for the two of them to grow closer the more they discover how much they have in common. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside that even though these two can be so callous, there's a genuine devotion at work here, and it becomes even more interesting taking a RE!Verse into account where Copperhead is a BOW working alongside BERTHA? I don't want to go on too much because this is already getting long but yes, yes to all of it, their feelings growing stronger over time the closer they get. The tension would be sublime, toxic in the very best way because for all their faults they can raise hell hand in hand, in a twisted Beauty and the Beast sort of way except BOTH of them are happy being monsters together. Love that for them!!! ♥

its insensitive to reimagine disneys tiana as asian, not because asian people dont face racism or cant enjoy cooking or didnt exist in 1920s new orleans- but because tiana is the first and still only black disney princess and was written and designed as such. her race informs and deepens her writing and her struggles, her love for her dad and specifically wanting to validate a jim crow era black man's sacrifices for his family, her connection to him and her community through her cooking when they all struggle to keep food on the table. similarly mulan shouldnt be rebranded as african american, not because black women couldnt exist in china or never crossdressed to join the army or dont face misogyny- but because mulan is a folk hero of historical chinese legend and as mulan, specifically cannot be divorced from that background. (also, frankly? the early white princesses arent really as well written for the most part, and their culture of origin is virtually never taken into account aside from visuals in their development, if that).

thats what ticked me off so bad about the monster high reboot. nb frankie was so cool and an asian draculaura was so fun but then they just... took away the black girl? and by extension, her sisters and thus ALL the black girls and like, dude not cool? nothing wrong with her being latina but being afrolatina is a different experience than being african american. afrolatinas deserve rep but that doesnt mean they shouldve taken clawdeen from african american girls. then there was some back and forth as to where specifically draculaura's family is from, and lagoona's origins vary from source to source dolls vs movie vs tv too and you just really feel the lack of effort and cohesion in the writing rooms. it really is just all just numbers on a chart, quotas to be filled there.

even with shows like winx where its ambiguous at times and kind of a raceblind take at others, theres so little for ANY of us that redesigning without that in mind becomes poaching. why would you take when ive been given so precious little? why would you want to change this one gift from people like me that lets me know i'm seen and loved? sure, other people deserve to have that too but if they want to borrow then take those who have so much they wont even miss it?

Like it's so fucking weird to me!!! And GOD I wanted to say something about gen3 Clawdeen but I wasn't sure if I was "right" or if it was my place to say but exactly!! Being afrolatina is wonderful and they deserve representation too but it is still ultimately a different experience from being black american and they shouldn't have taken that away from black girls! I'm glad that mixed kids have her as rep now but they shouldn't have taken her away!! They very easily could've made a new character to fill that role instead!

AND YES to the winx point!! At the end of the day, it doesn't matter that some of the girls races or ethnicities are more ambiguous, they still have Canon races and people shouldn't be taking that away and giving it to someone else. That's not how representation works! Ever! Like if someone redesigned Aisha to be asian, that wouldn't make me happy or give me More representation. All that would be doing is taking away representation from black people! Same thing with Musa, Flora, Nabu, etc.

It also feels So fucking scummy when a white person's excuse is just that they Personally didn't see a character as their canonical race/ethnicity and that's why they changed it?? I will write some artist notes down here too~ Bo-Cheng is a descendant carp dragon from the Chinese myth that can be found here! https://gotheborg.com/glossary/longmen.shtml

It's a tale on no matter how small you are you can accomplish great feats, which is what really inspired me about the myth. In her design she has very obvious eastern dragon traits but she does have spots like koi fish that was developed over time similar to koi fish now that originally originated from china.

I took a bunch of artist liberties when doing my research into making her have a lot of white on her overall design as Guan Yin's color representation is white which is meant to depicted purity. I also really liked the fact the animals she generally was seen drawn with/riding atop of besides her lotus was dragons and carps, so I took that other old myth and combined the two to create Bo-Cheng.

Bo-Cheng also wears a huge ancient Chinese gold coin as a representation of luck and a jade and pearl necklace she was given to her as a child which helps contain her powers. She is a water spirit but also a spirit of life due to her master's influence. She wears two spider lilies which is symbolic of life after death. She wears one for herself and one for pupils as a metaphor because of the idea of reincarnation.

Her relationship to the canonical characters is shes a second mother figure to Red Son. One that is kind yet stern and she has a strong distaste for Princess Iron fan and her treatment towards her own son along with being a friendly acquaintance to the rest of the gang in in passing.

She finds Wukong's antics funny and is a good friend to him as he finds her company extremely enjoyable being that she reminds him a lot of the old goddess who helped him so many times. They are good friends they just don't constantly see one another all the time because their duties to their pupils and protecting their homes.

She has no children and doesn't plan to have any of her own but rather considers Red Son, Mei, and MK like children of her own as a teacher.

Shes essentially a huge love letter to many myths that I grew to love so dearly over the years and I hope to continue making more content of her in other forms JTTW media and not just LMK.

As for her relationship to Macaque. It's complicated. She finds him to be a headache from time to time but can see how he's slowly improving to be better. The typically can be seen verbally sparring with one another but deep down they deeply care for each other even if they refuse to admit it. Asdfghjkl no I didn't. I just take forever to finish a drawing because I'm super anal about everything. I also keep experimenting with new art styles so I'm not completely sure how I want my finished drawings to look like. I was lucky to even post Brandi because if I thought about if for a second more I would've changed my mind and never posted her.

But I'm happy to share some info about my other OCs without any accompanying art if you're really interested. They're all girls because boys drool I have an easier time drawing women and Bullworth needs more female students.

Damon and Bif both have a voice line mentioning a female student who has been with the entire football team and I decided to base Dina around that concept.

"Pretty in Pink" by The Psychedelic Furs was also a big inspiration when creating this character

I used to loved pressing my hands and face against our old CRT TV back when we had one so I incorporated that quirk into her character. I love giving my OCs small fragments of my own personality.

Apparently Miranda struggled to make the songs for Encanto because he got the bare minimum of information about the story and how the characters would develop, in order to avoid spoilers being leaked. I do not know if it is true, but for me personally that made a bit of sense, because in many cases it felt like the songs just happened without satisfying transition, with the exception of "We don't talk about Bruno". But that is just my opinion.

Okay so if that's true, that would make infinite amounts of sense because like...I was just talking to my roommate earlier today about how several of the songs either feel unedited or seem to come out of nowhere and either hint at or imply things that are simply not depicted or discussed anywhere in the actual movie. "Dos Oruguitas" is basically the only song in the movie that's both integrated flawlessly into the scene and whose lyrics echo the movie's themes with the characters involved (Alma and Mirabel).

Both "The Family Madrigal" and "All of You" feel unedited and very "Lin was definitely on the strugglebus writing them." "All of You" has good lyrics but really struggles with both the beat and consistently good singing, and "The Family Madrigal" is just....well, aggressively mediocre (both lyrically and singing-wise). Neither feel like particularly good story bookend songs, either; "The Family Madrigal" sets up the family and their powers pretty well but doesn't effectively set up the movie's plot or vibe, and "All of You" recalls "The Family Madrigal" in both its lyrics and melody, but not in a way that actually effectively serves the song in isolation. Which is unspeakably weird considering how well Lin did those callbacks in both Hamilton and Moana.

Luisa's song is incredible and has so many references to having to do a lot of emotional labor for her family and not just physical ("Give it to your sister, your sister's older/Give her all the heavy things we can't shoulder/Who am I if I can't run with the ball?" and "Give it to your sister, it doesn't hurt and/See if she can handle every family burden" and "Give it to your sister and never wonder/If the same pressure would've pulled you under") but like....we never actually see Luisa playing that role for the family. It's not even hinted at, even as Luisa effectively isolates herself from the family after her powers start failing, which would have been a great opportunity to explore how the family falls apart faster without Luisa present to shoulder and deflect those burdens.

"We Don't Talk About Bruno" is an absolute bop in every possible way and I love it dearly, but it's effectively a villain song for a character who isn't a villain and is never actually portrayed as such outside of the song itself (Camilo just bashing his uncle for a full verse asdfghjkl). Thematically within the movie's story, it would have been better for the song to focus on the impact that Bruno leaving had on the family and how their refusal to talk about Bruno echoes other traumatic fractures within the family and all the other things they're not talking about with each other (like...Abuela's heavy expectations, for example). However, you're right in that it's basically the only song that feels like it was actually integrated well into the movie to provide a good transition between scenes.

Even Isabela's song and struggles seem to come somewhat out of nowhere, because we never actually get any indication that she's being forced to only make pretty flowers or marry Mariano against her own desires until she starts screaming at Mirabel about how she's been "stuck being perfect" 2 seconds before "What Else Can I Do?" picks up pretty abruptly in the middle of said screaming match.

Like, I can forgive Luisa's issues not being well-foreshadowed because her song comes so early in the movie, but we spend practically the entire movie pre-Casita destruction somewhat focused on Isabela, her flowers, her impending engagment to Mariano, and Mirabel's petty jealousy of her and there's never really any indication that she doesn't actually want to do any of those things. Even her verse in "We Don't Talk About Bruno" is framed as positive (the only positive vision in the whole song, in fact), though we do at least get the somewhat desperate-sounding "I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine" line layered in there at the end with her stressed-out look. It just seems oddly disconnected, like Lin was trying to make the song Isabela's "Let it Go" but the animators and scriptwriters forgot to build it up with a "Don't them in, don't let them see/be the good girl you always have to be" line or two.

So.....this is a really long-winded way of saying "I'm not sure if what you said in your ask is true, but I absolutely wouldn't be surprised if it was."

HOKAY! FiRsT oF aLl! CLIFFHANGER! FU-ASDFGHJKL-CK! I’m soooo conflicted about how to feel about the conflict, like who to agree with. They’re ALL understandable, but some are more or less reasonable. I guess, bless Jinnie’s poor heart, he just got one of the most lovely moments(I melted into my carpet during the happy part) followed by one of the biggest shocks, and I sorta get it. Joons a sweetheart and i feel so bad for the poor guy, he’s probably going to be the one holding everyone desperately together. Yoongles is trying his best and the emotional weight he has to have on him is crazy( I would fight anyone for a person like him) Hobis understandably freaked, but he’s doing so much to try and help the Tae-Jiminie situation, sooo proud of him. Jimin’s not heard the biggest news(for him) yet and I’m terrified for him. He truly cares for and I feel so bad thinking about how it’s going to upend so much of what he felt about himself before. TAE! I want to cry for her so much! Of course her pack will always love her, even if they’re shocked. I wish there was a way to make her understand that ( Though author Li- i believe you’re going to send me on two more chapters of this agony and I can’t wait to read them) Jk was probably the most ok? In this chapter, and like Joon said, I don’t think he could have handled things any better. Baby of the pack took everything as it came, got Tae home, got Jin/yoongi/yn to comfort Tae, kept ahold of Jimin to give taetae time, got joon, and didn’t add the the mate mark turmoil. My guess is he isn’t as ok as he seems(though I hope he is ok), and he and Joon are probably going to take the brunt of caring for the others(and him as the former littles pup). And yn… she’s grown so much. Earlier on I can’t imagine she’d take her mate mark discovery very well. But now she’s taking care of Tae and im so so so glad Tae has her.

I don’t know, reading back through my comment I sorta summarized EVERYTHING so umm… whoops. BUT EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING. It was packed with so many new feelings and developments and I feel almost windswept. You are the absolute queen of setting up emotions like these.(as an attempting writer how the heck you write the personal lives and feelings of EIGHT characters without jumbling or ignoring any of the characters I don’t know and I’m amazed that you do it so well) the cliffhanger hanger will frustrate me to no end(in a good way) and I will be (Im)patiently waiting for the next update.

I've just heard so much praise about this in the last day or two since the whole show has been released, so I'm really curious to watch it! I just know it's something about one kid going to university, planning to be extremely attractive, and then not liking another kid who's really attractive also? Or something like that lol, I love knowing very little about a show before I go into it.

Episode 1 (Apr 1)

setting up the plot with our mans Siwon getting chosen as leader and getting a pep talk about being handsome from the teacher (?) in the first 3 minutes

the people on the streets clearly thinking he's handsome even though he's dancing around awkwardly lol and here we see the true privilege of beauty because people didn't just call him weird under their breath and cross the street

same vein, i liked how easy it was to tell that people were impressed by his looks without like the over-the-top squealing and photo-taking that happens in some other BLs, usually Thai ones

i hope we continue to have these family scenes with Siwon's mom and sister

lmfao Siwon's "I also have a photoshoot to get to" the second hand embarrassment T.T especially because Dawoon obviously sees through it and gives him a tight-lipped smile goodbye

Ooh, a flashback to get us to empathize with Siwon's character. I think it's a good idea to give us some background and the sob story early on because now we'd be inclined to let stuff slide, especially because I think Siwon might be a little bitch for an episode or two.

I like this dynamic of Siwon being so strung up and trying to upstage Dawoon without making it obvious that he's trying to do so and Dawoon just laughing about it by himself and teasing/picking on Siwon, like how he pretends to order a long complicating thing that Siwon'll have to pay for before saying jk AA is fine and how he asks why Siwon likes these movies when he names some pretentious ones

Basically, what I'm saying is Siwon's annoying because he keeps trying to be above it all and Dawoon's annoying because he keeps egging Siwon on but actually, it's a fun dynamic

Hmm do I have this correct? This sunbae submitted their idea to a contest and had asked Siwon for feedback on their idea + Siwon had said he wouldn't submit anything for it. Then, we find out Siwon actually won the contest with his own pitch and also Dowoon's parents sponsor this contest. So now the sunbae is pissed and insituates that Siwon won because he's close with Dowoon. Also, is it hinting that Siwon didn't even submit the pitch, meaning Dowoon (or maybe his sister since she had his laptop but idk if she knows about the contest) did? Or did Siwon just do it on a whim, not thinking he'd win?

Also, not from this scene, but I like how there hasn't been really any actual conflict between Dawoon and Siwon. There was friction before they became friends but since then, they've been open with each other. Like this episode I was worried that the fact that Dawoon's parents hosted the competition would drive a wedge between them but Siwon asked all matter-of-factly whether Dawoon told me to choose his scenario and Dawoon was like lol they're busy, I haven't spoken to them, and that was that.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do have a conflict or two between them in the next half of the show, it would make sense from a story and relationship point but thus far I'm pleasantly surprised by how they've been communicating and not letting things fester.

Anyway I wanna watch ep 7 right now but I'll think of it as a reward for doing some schoolwork, hopefully I can do it and not just cheat and watch anyway.

I was relieved when he was like "I don't even get to talk to my parents" even though it's not a straight answer and when he had his phone call with his mom about writing a review of the scenario, I did have an inkling... but I decided to ignore it all because no. I'll choose to forget it until the story reveals it so that I can enjoy whatever time they have being cute and happy before the reveal

Dawoon's there for Siwon often and Siwon also trying to be there for Dawoon, learn more about him, validate his worries, etc. Also, him saying "That was probably the wrong metaphor." is cute somehow

cute ass kiss, I loved how Siwon got too eager and Dawoon had to stop him and be like "Relax" before kissing him again. I am a lover of characters communicating how they like to be kissed/touched/etc like in Not Me ep 9-1 when Sean and White kept asking each other if the other liked what they were doing + in Semantic Error when Sangwoo was like let me know before you touch me to Jaeyoung (and Jaeyoung resorting to holding onto his backpack and hoodie to respect that).

Like... it does make sense because he really is just a freshman, it makes sense that his skills aren't polished and good enough to win a whole competition. Dawoon just got way too greedy, I suppose, wanting Siwon to win.

This means the dickhead sunbae was right + it took away an opportunity from people who deserved it because the competition funder's son's friend won the scenario and their son directed it lol. It's true, the business is all about connections - as is pretty much every other industry

I have a meeting for an hour, so I'll just... have to sit there with this feeling of discomfort and curiosity I guess

Episode 10 (Apr 2)

While I was in this meeting from 12:40-1:40pm on a Saturday, people are dying over Cutie Pie ep 7 and Kinnporsche Ep 1. Tumblr dashboard so hectic right now lol. Anyway, I'm here to watch this conflict boil over and I'm so nervous about it

Thing is I don't know how I want this to go. I'd love it if the conflict isn't very long and drawn-out and explosive because I've been enjoying how teasing and quiet and cute the interactions between the two have been but also... Dawoon making his friend/crush win the contest his parents are hosting is so blagh

Dawoon constantly lying by saying "No" even though it's obviously "Yes" is fucking me up. I would hate it.

It's actually interesting, despite being annoying, to watch Dawoon try to make up to Siwon because it's so clear he's never had to do this before. He hasn't had to chase friends, apologize, or admit wrongdoings.

Girl no way the penultimate episode ends with Dawoon walking away, Siwon's gonna call him back right now, right?

Okay no but it really is sooo interesting to me that Dawoon just kept saying "No" to every question during their confrontation in the forest and now he just kept saying "I'm sorry" like he's not able to express how he feels. At first since he kept saying No, I thought maybe he has trouble with admitting the truth but now after the repeating I'm Sorrys I'm thinking he just has trouble with expressing himself in these situations where he's clearly in the wrong and has hurt somebody

Episode 11 (Apr 2)

Interesting to see the contrast of Siwon's family dinner with Dawoon's. How it's dysfunctional in a different way. Also, Dawoon may be dreaming.

This resolution is confusing to me, did they... properly discuss things? Seems very quick to go from how they were that morning to hugging in the middle of the street with no words exchanged. It doesn't give me confidence that they'll know how to deal with problems in the future. Also, I think Dawoon is actually just dreaming.

Okay, so that was just a dream/daydream. Wish it was a bit more clear and also shorter because I want real-life stuff to happen satisfyingly

That was a pretty good resolution. Dawoon came with the what he did wrong, why he did, sorry, assuring it won't happen again. Siwon also got to say his frustrations and why he hated what Dawoon did. In the end, they're both so freaking relieved.

Dawoon admitting that he was practicing his apology script on the way over. I guess it really is that he just doesn't quite know how to express his feelings in these situations and doesn't know how to answer back/reply to Siwon demanding things. He'd repeat the same phrase or he just turned and walked away at the end of last episode but I guess when he has time to figure out what he wants to say and isn't interrupted, he can get it out

Okay, I think that was a satisfying ending.

Interesting characters, good acting (though not great), family dynamics galore, nice visuals and cinematography, a touch/hint of GL, held my attention because I didn't have to go watch a Not Me clip or read a Not Me fic in the middle (I've done this for every show since I finished Not Me lol), the show felt natural, earnest, and heartfelt. I liked the conflicts in the show because they felt... real. They were scandalous in a sense because divorce! single mother! winning a competition via connections! but it all felt grounded in its portrayal. None of the conflicts felt like they were just in there to throw a wrench in the relationship because that's how stories work but rather, they were in line with the characters and their lives thus far.

I'm praising it and I don't really have many criticisms (ex. certain things could've been explained clearer, I think the dialogue writing wasn't super strong in some intense moments) but it's also not a higher rating because it didn't really mess with my emotions or fuck me up over the characters. I was engaged while watching the show but now that it's done, I'm not spending time thinking about the characters, I'm not going to read fic for them or watch the actors' interviews. It's kind of a forgettable story. It's a good experience while watching but it won't drag me into fandom.

My review of episode 1 got a lot of positive feedback and a lot of you asked me to cover more episodes! But my review of episode 2 didn’t get much feedback at all. Possibly because episode 2 was boring and you can only make so many funny jokes about the glowy wife before it gets stale, so I get it, it’s fine. It was boring for me too. Hopefully this gets funnier! I actually have high expectations for this episode, since apparently it introduces NotDean. You know, the childhood friend who Walker loves like a brother and is the Han Solo to Walker’s Luke Skywalker. Like, what. Stop comparing Jared Padalecki characters to Like Skywalker 2021 challenge. *insert you keep using that word...*

Anyway, in case you missed it - here are all my reviews of Walker episodes, in chronological order.

Alright. Let’s start this. Actually I have a thought before we start. You know, I was thinking that episode 3 of Supernatural is when Dean gets genuinely introduced as a person. Sera Gamble and Raelle Tucker were the first to give Dean the personality that stuck and developed into the character that we love. Dead In The Water is, not coincidetally, the episode that sold Supernatural to me. The first couple of episodes were weirdly compelling, without which I wouldn’t have continued watching, but you must understand that I’d never watched horror before. It really wasn’t my genre. I was just watching on the assumption that it would get better at some point, and if it didn’t I’d stop. But Dead In The Water got me. Because that’s when we’re really shown Dean for the first time. The rest is history and now we’re here.

So I wonder what will happen in episode 3 of Walker. Is it going to magically pull a Dean out of the hat and get me?

Let’s start. The Texan countryside. The yellow, glowy light tells us this is a flashback. Closeups of Jared and Gen. He is somewhat concerned. He’s at the wheel of a car, still on the street - a red Mustang. Unlike the red Mustang of the horseman War, it is a convertible. Fun fact: a Mustang was Kripke’s original idea for the Winchesters’ car, but then switched to the Impala for body-in-the-trunk reasons. I am the 😬 emoji.

Actually guys I need to show you a couple Jared faces. I think they’re supposed to be purposely comedic faces, but honestly this is just how he acts normally. I promise I am not coming in this with a bias towards Jared’s acting. I just observe, with my eyes. He was actually good in many Supernatural episodes.

I just can’t see Cordell Walker. I’m just seeing Jared and Gen Padalecki delivering what is a somewhat padalecki acting in front of my eyes and I swear I had to close the video in the middle of this scene and start over because of a sudden attack of second-hand embarrassment.

Basically, Walker is trying to drive the Mustang, but he is not good at it and the car stops after two meters. He feels exactly how I feel when I watch Walker.

“Damn it!” Jared exclaims, jaredly. I think that this scene is supposed to be set Many Years Ago, because Walker is wearing a backwards cap and Emily has her hair styled like Bad Janet but straighter, which actually says a lot about this show somehow.

God, I wish I could gif the entire scene to show you guys the padalacting. I mean, I could, but ain’t nobody got time for that. Have a bit of the scene.

For some reason she puts this thing on the dashboard, because he “puts your mind at ease”.

He makes more Jared faces, which we’ll skip because I don’t want to spend 7 hours on this.

Why does this look filmed by your dad with a videocamera on Christmas afternoon after you received a toy car as a present? I suddenly have a newfound admiration for the directors who did Impala shots on Supernatural because it would seem car shots are not that easy to make. Maybe this is why Supernatural always filmed at night with a black car.

Guys I am telling you, if you need to watch one scene of Walker in your life, watch this scene. It’s so embarrassing. I almost decided to gif the moment of the car going and commenting “nyoom” but the Impala does not deserve this.

Anyway.

Listen, if I have to see thing thing over and over, you have to see it too.

He’s brought the damn thing onto a new cop truck while on a stakeout with Ramirez, who is just as happy about it as any normal person would.

I think they’re outside a strip club, judging from the posters outside.

He keeps quoting lines from the scene with his wife, which is sort of weird since Ramirez is not his love interest. Yet. Oh no. Don’t. Don’t do that. Don’t even thinking of doing that. Ramirez has a perfectly fine boyfriend.

Walker says that since they’re sitting there just waiting for the suspect’s movements or whatever, they should use that time to get to know each other, like “favorite movies, the teams you root for, middle names”.

Ramirez is me.

He’s like ~let’s bond~ and Ramirez goes immediately for the jugular and asks how Stella (his daughter) is doing. “Wow” he says. He says he and Stella are “in a good place, I think”. You’re not and we’re definitely not. This is the bad place.

Basically, they’re trying to live in a bubble of ignoring her upcoming court date for the marijuana thing. Ramirez says that the easy route is not a good idea. He’s like, are you speaking from experience? Basically they keep implying Ramirez also has a ~bad girl past, which I can absolutely live without.

Aaand now we see the inside of the strip club. The suspect is there, a lady with a Latinoamerican name, apparently bisexual because she’s surrounded by a woman and a man in underwear, the woman is touching her, it leaves no doubt about it. 😬 Enter the stripper on stage, who captures the lady’s attention.

The stripper is a man. Dressed as a slutty cowboy. There’s glitter.

Yeah, you read it right.

Oh no. No I absolutely change my mind. If you have to watch one scene of Walter, it must be the slutty glitter cowboy stripper.

There’s. There’s a. There’s a slutty glitter cowboy stripper.

The CW could do slutty glitter cowboy strippers and Dean Winchester is not there?!

I repeat, they killed Dean Winchester and then did slutty glitter cowboy strippers in Walker?!

What’s the target demographic of this show? Texan housewives? The gays? Are they trying to test all the waters and see what happens? Is Walker going to become about gay people and Jared’s character a secondary character in his own show?

The guy in skimpy underwear is distracting. I can’t believe yesterday I saw a Jared interview where he said he couldn’t watch Supernatural with his kids because of all the violence but Walker is a show you can watch with kids. I mean, aside from this scene, Walker is definitely more kid-friendly than Supernatural for obvious reasons. But hey, since Supernatural already was non-kid-friendly, they could have at least put more dudes in skimpy underwear.

You know what, I think they’re just aiming for Texan housewives.

so this started as a drabble and was supposed to be hella short, but please enjoy 1.6k words of julie and luke being absolutely adorable. 

julie has been dealing with a persistent classmate who won’t take no for an answer, so luke accompanies her to their end-of-the-term party in hopes to get the point across.

"okay, so i have a really weird favour to ask.”

luke looked up from his guitar, arching a brow at julie's obvious distress. they had been at it for a few hours, trying to write a new song, but the motivation wasn't really flowing. ultimately they decided to separate and see what they could come up with on their own. it was a bit pointless since all luke could think about was the girl in the corner and all of his feelings for her.

"there are only a handful of things i wouldn't do for you, jules. so, shoot."

the apparent blush on her cheeks was unavoidable, so she pulled a few stray curls out from behind her ears. 

"would you mind coming with me to this end of term party type thing?" julie asked, hesitantly biting her lip. it wasn't that she didn't think he'd be up for it, it was just the uncomfortableness of the entire situation. "it's for everyone in our music program. but there's just this guy who isn't really getting the hint and i figure if —" luke's eyes snapped over to her nervous and fiddling figure as soon as she mentioned a boy. "i'll be there," he replied instantly. his limited motivation to continue strumming his guitar until he found a melody he enjoyed immediately disappeared, and all he could think about was that julie had been feeling uncomfortable lately, and he had no idea. "he's not like a bad guy or anything!" julie rushed to add, because she had a heart of gold and always sought the best in people. "he's sweet, really — sort of. he's just also very persistent and i'm not —" "you don't need to explain," luke told her, shooting her a lopsided grin to calm her nerves. "i'll be there." it was a blessing in disguise that the boys could now be seen by everyone, and not just when they were performing with julie. she would feel much more comfortable with luke by her side; he was her anchor, and it helped that he was so protective, that hopefully he would help get the hint across to her surprise suitor. she knew what luke was thinking; was it nick? and the answer was no. they were friends now, nothing more. but a few months back, a new student joined their program, and he was partnered with julie for a few exercises. she didn't think anything of it, being friendly and polite as per her usual. it seemed like somewhere along the way, he developed feelings for her and no matter how many times she said no to a date, he kept asking. something about persistence? julie hated it. he was still constantly polite and respectful, but the mere fact that he wouldn't take no for an answer was severely unnerving for her. she hoped him seeing her with luke would get the hint across that she wasn't interested (and if it led him to believe that she wasn't available, then so be it). the music program party was being held in the school gym, filled with games, snacks and of course, an open mic. even though julie was a tad bit nervous to attend, luke confidently grabbed onto her hand and quite literally dragged her into the gymnasium. "socialization is good for you, jules," he had said teasingly, to which julie squeezed his hand painfully. he shot her a wolfish grin in response. "i'm going to get us drinks, you good?" luke pondered, ducking his eyes to meet hers. he could tell how nervous she looked by the way she couldn't stop moving her hands, and it irritated him that someone was making her feel weary like this. "jules," he repeated, squeezing her hand. julie nodded, raising her chin in a more obvious display of confidence. "i'm good," she insisted. he pulled on their hands until he was out of her reach and hers dropped back down to her side. the gym was decently filled; julie recognized a number of familiar faces as she actively searched for flynn, who had shot her a message saying she was already here. as she was distracted searching through the crowd, she didn't notice the one person she was trying to avoid. his name was caden, and he was cute and sweet, but he was just not getting it. "hey julie! it's nice to see you!" his hands were shoved into the front pockets of his jeans as he rocked back and forth. "are you planning on singing tonight?" julie shot him a polite smile. she just didn't have it in her to be mean, but she knew if she was a bit more direct and aggressive, this entire situation might end here and now. "probably not. i don't plan on staying long." "oh," his eyes widened, and suddenly julie knew that was the wrong thing to say. "did you maybe want to go out after? coffee or something?" julie felt her panic start to climb its way up her throat; god, where the hell was luke? it's okay, she just had to let him down again. "uh, actually —" "here you go, jules!" julie almost screamed in relief when she heard luke's familiar voice. he slipped in next to her, bumping her hip clumsily. to the untrained eye, it looked like he was just being a walking hazard, but julie knew it was on purpose. he was a touch-oriented person, and his touch soothed julie; they both knew that. luke handed julie a cup of punch, and his gaze flitted to caden, who was staring at them with wide blue eyes. "oh hey! my name's luke, i'm in the band with julie." with his free hand, he reached over to shake caden's hand. caden looked surprised and a tad disappointed, but he was nothing but respectful to luke as he introduced himself. "i'm caden, one of julie's classmates." a comfortable silence passed among them as their focus was directed to the stage where one of their classmates was performing. luke could sense julie's tension and his free hand reached down for hers. he didn't outright tangle their fingers together but his pinky reached out to wrap with hers in a comforting gesture. it gave her the power to do whatever she felt comfortable with. unbeknownst to them, caden watched their entire interaction, and even though he was disappointed, only a blind person wouldn't see their obvious connection. it suddenly dawned on him why julie never seemed to reciprocate his intentions, and he couldn't believe he'd never caught on before (he saw their performances on youtube videos). "ah, so you two are...?" caden trailed off, unsure of what to label it. luke and julie glanced over at him, julie with furrowed eyebrows, and luke with a somewhat smug but innocent expression. "oh, we're not re—" julie started to say, but caden shook his head, smiling. "i should've figure it out sooner," he added, "i've seen the youtube videos. you can't fake that chemistry." luke pursed his lips at the use of the word chemistry. at one point, he'd deny it, but at this point? it would be an outright lie. julie, however, just looked confused. "sure, but that's no—" "it's okay julie, you don't have to explain," caden insisted. "i see the way he looks at you, and i get it now. i'll see you around," he smiled, waving before he walked away. luke awkwardly sipped his drink. he wasn't expecting to be put on blast like that. he couldn't exactly control his eyes and what they did when they looked at julie. she was the embodiment of beauty and music and perfection, and that was everything luke saw when he looked at her. if he was exhibiting 'heart-eyes' (as alex and reggie had told him multiple times), he couldn't stop it. "okay, well, i guess that worked," julie smiled, tapping her cup against luke's in cheers. "although, i wonder why he thought we were — you know." luke glanced over at her. she was watching the stage performance with such a sense of innocence that luke almost didn't want to burst her bubble. almost. "come on, jules," he chuckled, shaking his head when she turned to him with questioning eyes. "you know why." julie pursed her lips, holding his steady gaze. it was challenging because his eyes were absolutely gorgeous and intense, and clearly the way he looked at her made her feel things. sometimes she could feel his gaze on her while she played piano, or while she studied for a test or wrote excitedly in his (their) song journal. sometimes she would look over at him and he'd already be looking at her. and at first, he would look away in embarrassment, but now, he would hold her gaze, sometimes even going as far to send a smirk to really throw her off her game and fluster her. something had changed between them along the way and they both knew it. they just hadn't decided when was the right time to address it. the truth was luke could be ripped away at any moment; the thought caused julie to live in a constant state of paralyzing fear. and so, the time never felt right. "yeah," julie mumbled, reached for his hand again. "i do." julie didn't end up leaving early. she found herself in the corner of the gym, leaning against the wall with luke's arm wrapped securely around her shoulders. they watched performance after performance and they couldn't even be bothered to get up on stage and show them what a real duet looked like because they were so comfortable in each other's arms. and as julie tipped her head onto luke's shoulder, a sudden wave of exhaustion overtaking her, she knew caden never had a chance because her heart was already taken.

I was thinking that the Akuma analysis vids were less about the episodes, more about the Akuma, but it being about the episodes probably makes more sense. All of these take place somewhere in season 2

-Chloe and Raz, BFFs? Talking about how Raz seems to be friends with Chloe , of all people. Would go into detail on how Chloe and Raz have interacted. Perhaps there's a mention of a scene where, during one of the biggest scenes where we learned about Grulovia, Chloe left the room to "fix up her make-up", which indirectly caused that episode's akuma, but also, looking at the footage, that Raz seemed to have slipped out halfway, and later they're briefly seen hanging out with ice cream/shopping bags(This moment is not touched on by the show until Raz gets captured by the Delugionists, and shows a flashback with Raz explaining his heritage and how he's hydrokinetic in a bathroom, with Chloe awkward, and ends up telling him to come with her. He's getting some Retail Therapy!) with Alan mentioning that  they may have "bonded over crime" (cue a ton of art and fic of Chloe and Raz being thief buddies, there's at least one really good fic about Raz being a thief and slowly drawing her into crime, and also counterintuitivly helping her become a better person)
