I was doomed when I saw "le fanart" of Malleus rising of a coffin then.... I was like....OMGGG ooohhh monnn dieeuuu....that art Yana-senseiiiii....isn't it Maleficientttt!!! I became such ....such the most platoniiic lover/fan-girl ever of Malleus *staring at him with dead fish eyes and not speaking* My kakkoi dragon fairy, Maleficient grandson!! And I literrally "harassed" my partner in crime @twiwoncrackpopcorn everyday with it, being a 90's baby Disney's fan and Yana-sensei's one too.... I was searching every infos on the internet, every little crumbs about it!! Waiting for the game release....and thanks god during covid-19 I had Animal Crossing New Horizon and...Twisted Wonderland games...(my work as a nurse was.... I hated the tr ending so badly. Not because it was rushed or anything. Wakui could have fleshed out the last timeline so thoroughly and logically and I would still hate it because the ending itself goes against what I felt the story stood for in the first place. He replaced all the characters for fakes, none of the characters we were intoduced to had happy endings because they either are totally different people or re lived their life to avoid healing. The ending basically proved izanas last words right "there's no saving me" yeah I guess not if the only way to help everyone is to make sure their lives never happened the way it did. Horrible I hate it so much. Also one ship I hate is rinzu or ranzu because they don't even interact once and it's so popular for no fucking reason other than "its hot" and tbh they would prolly hate eachother like petty bitches, they would NOT get along at any point. Also Koko and amane ship because if people actually read the manga with their eyes open it would not make sense. Anyways thanks for letting me be a hater in ur askbox, I love your blog btw

I think you're the first person who has the same opinion as me lmao😭. I also didn't believe it should have had an ending like that at all because of the themes that had been set up during the entire story. I understand people's perspectives of "It's Wakui's manga and it's his ending he can do what he wants" but media is supposed to be talked about, discussed and even criticized at times. That's like, the whole point of publishing stuff. As an enjoyer and supporter of Wakui's manga, I feel like I have the right to question some inconsistencies and contradictions (not directly attack him tho, that's never okay. like people who send death threats over ships and stuff that's messed up) that showed up in the ending. I also believe lots of people didn't really take it seriously as a manga idk. It had some very serious topics that people seem to forget about. For example: suicide, abuse, abandonment, child neglect, substance abuse, extreme violence, rape, prostitution etc, and I think people just kinda see it as a silly manga that has cool characters they like. And that's okay. It's okay to not take a piece of media seriously and enjoy it for the sake of enjoying it, not everything needs to be critically analyzed, but stop shitting on the people who take it seriously enough to question why the fuck it ended how it ended. Lots of the discourse took place between critical analysers who wanted an author to finish the manga by sticking to the themes and messages he has set up the entire time versus casual enjoyers who just wanted everyone to be happy for the sake of liking the characters. And I completely agree with the Izana thing!!!! You cannot claim to have saved someone by rewriting their entire life!!! Takemitchy was not supposed to be god!! Also, isn't the moral story of time travel that you should never ever do it? Because you win some, you lose a whole lot fucking more. I thought Draken dying was setting up that narrative. That saving Mikey, was gonna fuck up a whole lot. Isn't that why Chifuyu broke down?

Idk about you guys, but dark impulses being a curse disappointed me quite a bit. I thought it was supposed to be a symbol of Mikey being deeply mentaly ill. And that he had to deal with it head on and not run away all the time (this was Takemichi's entire storyline basically and the the main theme of TR). I just feel like it sucked because the message of the ending, whether Wakui intended it or not, was that you can't be fixed without magical time traveling. Although the story had some fictional aspects, it was realistic at least. I thought they'd deal with everything that wasn't time travel realistically.

Any ship with Sanzu and the Haitani's is hilarious to me and although I don't ship any of them seriously, the fanarts fun to look at some time (and you're right I think they look good together cause they're hot😭). You are completely correct about them not liking each other tho. It's actually canon. Idk if you remember during the three deities fight when Ran hit Haruchiyo with his baton? Nothing but pure malice between their eyes😭. The Koko and Akane ship actually triggers me because one thing about me? I'm not comfortable with large age gaps. Akane was 5 years older than Koko💀. And I didn't know people took what she said to him seriously. I thought she was just trying to not hurt his feelings? Koko and Inupi were around 7/8 when the fire happened. Hey, it's been a while since I last been here lol. How have you been? Quick question, which underrated character in AoD you like the best. It can't be Kurtis or Janice. I know how much you love the man from LV and Janice's popularity doesn't quite suit the 'underrated' category imo.

As for Janice, I don’t think she’s underrated either. She had her role in her space and she fulfilled it perfectly, being also appreciated and loved by the fanbase because she happens to be the only decent person Lara encounters in the Parisian ghetto, the only one that treats Lara and conducts herself like a human being and not like a predator or a thug. The fact she’s a sex worker even dignifies her more since she speaks for a usually ignored/despised collective and it’s also, at the same time, an empowered woman in perfect control of her life, resources and context. “The streets are full of psychoes (...) That’s fine. Some of us like it that way.” is the line that reveals that  she’s satisfied with her circumstances and she’s no in way a victim needing a savior. Hardly to underrate a character like that, not if you’re paying attention to the plot, of course.

My choice goes to Putai, the Bedouin shaman that was meant to help and guide Lara through her process of recovery after the Egyptian accident. I know it’s a deleted character and maybe you wouldn’t consider her for the fact she never got the space she was meant to have, but Putai is always in my mind, more than I show externally, so I want to speak about her.

Even the artists that have made a TRAOD series of characters and tried to include everyone, such as Luther Rouzic or even Morgau Vasiley, who are as well deleted characters, have forgotten to draw of reference Putai. Practically no one but a very few have bothered to draw or model fanart of her, though her presence if a bit wider in fanfiction. It’s a shame she doesn’t get the appreciation and love she deserves despite being a deleted character, because in this times when the accent is put on representation and tropes, she’s been used if only for bad instead of the good she can do.

I remember fighting the good fight for this character back in my times as mod at the TR Spanish official forum, when I was the only one in acknowledge the name of the character - for the Spanish community, she was simply “the shaman”. I was even accused of having invented the name, lol. Imagine my satisfaction when finally Lara pronounces her name.

Putai had to play the role of a healer and a mentor through Lara’s both physical and mental recovery after the Egyptian accident. She’s the person that found her trapped below the ruins of the Great Pyramid, even after Werner had quit the search and left her for dead, though reluctantly. Putai not only healed Lara of the physical wounds but also gave them an amulet in the shape of a scarabeus that was meant to bring her back to the mental training that restored her to her primeval state before the accident.

It was indented for TRAOD that Lara would have this scarab amulet in the inventory and used them as many times as she wanted to go back to the cave where she underwent her first training with Putai to train again, as a tutorial. Now, it’s not clearly specified but looks like Putai is already dead when TRAOD begins, because of the exchange both women have “Where you’ll be? “Where I’ve always been”, she answers before decomposing her human shape in a group of flying crows. According to some BETA documents of TRAOD Putai and her tribe were slaughtered short after Lara got her full recovery, in unknown circumstances, and Lara blamed herself for that happening. Despite of which Putai remained as an ethereal and undying presence to guide her if necessary.

I am surprised this character didn’t get more attention from the fandom; because I find her extremely fascinating. There’s a big shortage of female allies in Tomb Raider, Lara has mostly relied on male partners or friends and women have been basically villains or NPCs. It’s so unfortunate we never got to enjoy Putai in all her glory, but is much more unfortunate how the fandom seems to have shrugged her off at most.

When Putai has gotten attention has been, unfortunately, to be bashed and gunned down by SJW as a “magic negro trope”, but my opinion about this specific issue has been debated in a previous ask, as you well know. Dismissing Putai as a valid character just because she’s black, and making her fall into a “magic negro trope” just because the color of her skin, is what it’s racist in itself, not having genuine joy for the existence of this character and wish to have enjoyed her as she was meant to be.

Specially because no one has questioned other male and female POC characters in Crystal’s era (Anaya, Zip, Reyes) as “negro tropes”, but Putai gets shit for that. (When Anaya is the typical damsel in distress Latino trope, and Reyes is the typical female angry POC woman trope, and let’s not talk about others). So we realize now that this deleted character is not only underrated but also hated by some fanbase that qualifies themselves as progressive and anti-racist, when the standards for dismissing Putai as valid are utterly racist.

I loved Putai from the beginning without stupid questionings and double-standards and that’s why I’d have loved to have her before even other characters like Rouzic or Morgau. Being amazing these two as they come. That’s why I made sure to include her immediately in both my first TRAOD sequels, The Golden Seal, as a living, participating character; and later in Lilith’s Scepter as a recurrent character in flashbacks.

I think I will forever mourn over her loss, together with almost everything TRAOD related. She deserved her chance, she never got it and if someone brings her back it’s to trash her because of some SJW edgy standards who happen to be as racist as the reasons they allude to dislike her. Putting her skin color and the role she FREELY choose to play for Lara before her real meaning, which is a female ally for Lara in a world in which female allies were new.

I guess it would be… I don’t like her “friendship” with Tr*ss. I don’t hate Tr*ss myself (at least not her book version), but after all that bad blood between them, I have a hard time seeing them sharing a true friendship bond again, with trust and respect. Yen is a character that has had a lot of trouble opening to people and learning how to love, and I don’t think that kind of betrayal would be easily brushed off as “well now that I’m with Geralt all is forgiven”. Should she keep resenting her? No, that’s not healthy. But should they be best friends again? Never.

I feel that every god damn ship has the phase of “YOU CANT SHIP THAT ITS FETISHIZING AND ABUSIVE PROBABLY” but here’s the thing. As a gay man, when I see two guys that I think would look cute together I start thinking about shipping them. If one of them is a shitty character who hasn’t had a redemption arc, I’m writing that redemption arc in my head the second I think about shipping the two.

As someone who has been in an abusive relationship, I know that they fucking suck and are not fair to anyone involved. I would never write abuse in a way that made it seem okay or rightful. But some people deal with their problems through writing, and they would love to write the story of an abusive relationship where the victim gets out and gets justice. Some people just like the idea of two characters together and know it would never work out, it’s just for fun.

As for the “you sexualize and fetishize everything” claim that seems to make rounds, can we just take a second to clear up what the fuck you’re saying when you claim this? A fetish is pretty defined as an irrational and unhealthy obsession, but it’s also connotated to mean a “gross sexual obsession” most of the time. Fetishizing gay people is prevalent, like in yaoi that exaggerates male features for the general pleasure of women, lesbian porn that’s obviously for straight men, art and porn labeled tr*nny or the excessive use of trap as some sort of perverted dehumanizing term, but looking at two characters and saying “oh they would look cute together” is NOT FETISHIZING. As for sexualizing, some people don’t even feel comfortable with smut and still ship pairings, and those who do draw/write smut aren’t really people to look down upon because filling sexual desires with fantasy isn’t a bad thing.

Anywho, shipping is supposed to be fun. As long as you don’t write/draw something that supports abuse I don’t see a problem (and don’t tag your fucking fanart with yaoi.) Personally, one of my favorite things is taking characters who didn’t work out and writing them better story archs so that they can. It’s called transformative fiction for a reason, have fun transforming something bad into something good.

Before going through this, I want to address that anyone looking through this list should expect some really dark ideas/imagery, etc. Considering the pairing(s) we are dealing with, this should come as really no surprise. Most of these works will already be appropriately tagged for readers (by the original authors) to avoid anything they’re uncomfortable with, so keep an eye out and read things carefully. I think I only needed to really give a warning about one fic rec, so generally things should be fine.

Everything’s Fine in the Beast Division by Merrinpippy (This is part of the Tomarry Valentine Exchange. This has great characterization, and has the cast of Fantastic Beasts. Also has Tom giving Harry the locket. I am a complete sucker for fics where Tom gives Harry the locket and/or ring. I cannot reiterate that enough.)

Lots of feels. I love how Harry was so convinced Tom would abandon him, and that Tom proved him wrong. Also, I love how protective Absol was. And Harry’s Altaria made me think of my first shiny Pokémon-Swablu, who I evolved into an Altaria in my Pokémon Ruby game. Nostalgia.)

Thomas Riddle and the Lamb of Dreams by RenderedReversed (This was a very interesting AU! Harry is a god here, specifically the God of Dreams, and Tom is his “champion.”)

You read this fic, and just go from…intrigued…’wait, wat,’ to ‘!!!’ This is a Soulmate AU+ ‘Dark’ Superhero AU. You’ll be very surprised at finding out what side people are on. This is a oneshot, but you can’t help but wonder about everything. It really works well as a standalone work, but the potential for so much drama and blood and betrayal… Oh god, and the ending.)

I love how Tom is presented as excessively charming but still unrepentantly evil, yet salvageable…gah. If I wasn’t on the aromantic side of the ace spectrum, I’d have a crush on both how he and Harry are portrayed in this fic. Precious, kind, strong, righteous Harry. Probably my most favorite characterization of the two of them, ever?? Read it.)

The Divine Right of Kings series by darklordtomarry (das_omen) (I’m surprised I haven’t found this series sooner! Grey!Harry that is incredibly interesting…and an information broker! The plot is concerned with slight au…focusing on royalty and politics. The plot, as well as character interactions and relationships are quite intriguing, particularly within Harry’s family. Also, the James and Sirius bromance is hilarious, especially regarding the scene in the very first chapter of the first fic that caused the nearby Draco to run away.)

Lord of Time by DebsTheSlytherinSnapeFan (I think I remember some really good ideas from this. It’s been a while since I first read through it, so I don’t think I can give it the summary it deserves. Luckily it’s very lengthy if you find yourself enjoying it. You probably will. A very interesting time travel fic with an epic length, drama, and a lot of consideration put into the time period it takes place in.)

The way little!Tom is depicted is AMAZING. I really do love it. I especially adore fics that show a child!Tom with really accurate characterization.)

Dreams and Darkness Collide by Epic Solemnity by Dark_Cyan_Star (Holysmokes this was dark and violent and oh do I love it. Harry is so dark but it’s balanced with him being pretty relatively heroic about his killing intent, so it’s a bit closer to his character. I also love a good-by good I mean well-written, he is still beautifully pretty amoral and complex-Minister for Magic!Tom.)

Grimoire for the Devil series by fadingstarlight (Geneveon) (Slytherin!Harry aka Hadrian. Alternate Universe and very EXPLICIT, like wooooo, XXX-rated, man.)

Baby, You’re Mine series by Fairygirl34 (I love the idea behind this series. Tom just being an evil bastard and taking what he wants without remorse, which, in this case, is Harry, and to some lesser degree, little Albus. Harry already has Ginny, but apparently that doesn’t matter at all. Welp.)

Nursery Rhymes AU series by Fairygirl34 (I’m weak for this sort of fic idea. Many nursery rhymes have a creepy origin, and this series expresses a love for such a dark thing. Very promising.)

Phantom Love by Fairygirl34 (Another recent one I found. Tom obsessively watching and leaving gifts for the Phantom Harry. Harry not falling for his tricks and trying in vain to resist his advances. I love that while Harry is the Phantom of the Opera, Tom, in a twisted turn of events, is the Angel of ‘Darkness.’ That’s pretty great. And there’s only two more chapters left!)

Dancing With Deceit by The_Fictionist (Ahhhh, this one was very good. Just read it.)

Fine Green Eyes by grayclouds (Pride and Prejudice-inspired! I regret only subscribing to this and not bookmarking it because this took some time for me to rediscover. This is really amazingly written and I cannot wait for the next update.)

Loveless by Hyoushin (Very good. The focus is more on Tom. I especially adored the Paradise Lost reference in Chapter 4. That was especially fitting for Tom.) 

The Fox and The Stag series by KaedeRavensdale (I really remember liking many elements of this one. There was a lot that made this pretty unique. Also, somewhere in the first story, Tom goes back to the future with Harry, which is relatively rare.)

Turn Back 53 by Kefalion (Sadly abandoned, but I’m honestly grateful for anything. Wow, this is so well-written. Lmao, at some point they kinda do a ‘meet-cute??’ with Harry and Tom meeting face-to-face while bumping into each other. They keep meeting this way, actually. Also why is Tom so hot in this fic like SIGN ME THE FUCK UP. Smoking those Muggle smokes, damn, man. Catching Harry like some fucking fairy tale prince. He needs to be arrested…and not even just for being a murderer.)

Would Be He: Lion or Lamb? by KillerInADress (Ahhhh, I really love the interaction between Tom and Harry in Chapter 2. Really hope this updates.) 

Field Theory by Machiavelli (Childhood friends!AU. Harry saves Tom…and the tags inform us that ‘this will probably get quite dark’…)

If Them’s the Rules by MayMarlow (Our glorious pairing, Tomarry, is essentially built on the time travel trope, so it should be no surprise that I’m reccing this particular fic. In this story Harry goes back in time to raise Tom. Usually when I read fics with similar plots, there’s always a little something I’m not really into. But not here. There’s also a very interesting plot with Grindelwald, outside of the Tomarry. The Grindelwald + Harry interactions were also pretty nice. Oh, silly Harry for forgetting about the other handsome genocidal dark wizard during this time period. To be fair, he does have his hands full with young Tom.)

The Train to Nowhere by MayMarlow (Who do I love? MayMarlow. One of the earliest Tomarry fics I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. Very intriguing premise. I love Harry’s visits to the ‘train station.’ I love the feelings that accompany this sense of otherworldliness whenever I read about Harry is in this other realm.)

The Other Chapter 36 by Mavrick (This fic is one of the works responsible for why I said my list was, “’Mostly’ alphabetical by author.” Also, just realized. This fic is also in the incomplete section, despite being completed...mainly because I wanted to keep it together with “The Train to Nowhere.” Welp. That’s entirely fine because I adored this. A tribute to the above fic. God, I loved how creepy it was with the paintings. I felt chills. Beautiful and scaaaary, if that’s what you’re into. I’m definitely into that.)

Labyrinth by Mer_des_Miroirs (A regency!au with other references. Excellent and interesting.)

Kings of Flowers and Skulls by Merrinpippy (So basically if a fic was destined to become a fast favorite of mine…this one definitely embodies a bunch of things I love. And I sincerely love flowers, skulls, and fairy tales…which are all in here. Tom and Harry as opposite, but complementary otherworldly deities…also a HUGE plus. Ahhh…so good~)

Words Fail by NeaMarika (One of my favorite time travel fics. Really good, it’s different from most because people are aware of Harry’s status as a time-traveler. Also, oblivious!Harry strikes again, to my COMPLETE AMUSEMENT. Oh boy, poor Tom. Lmao, boi can’t even comprehend the possibility of anyone possibly rejecting his handsome, fiiiiiiine, genius self. )

Scarred Match in Time by NicoDiAngeloLover7, vampireangel389 (Tom is actually pretty nice in this one, but what really sticks out to me here is how Harry’s memory loss is treated. I really like the startling but distressing images we get from Harry, who only has vague notions of his experiences.)

Divine by ObsidianPen (I am weak for mythology. This is no exception. This has endless promise. Oh lord, this is so good.)

Incendiary by ObsidianPen (The summary and the tags are definitely what caught my attention! A very interesting au idea! Also, Harry’s parents are alive and he has a sister and is generally much happier, yay! Young Grindeldore and the Triwizard tournament. Also, despite this being an AU, poor Harry somehow manages to also be involved in the tournament, though his rival, Tom, is also a champion…Can’t wait for this story to progress to that point!)

No Glory by ObsidianPen (Incredibly dark and haunting. Another great work from the author. Voldemort/Harry with an incredibly well-thought-out plot.)

Nature versus Nurture series by RenderedReversed, Zenithyl (I love the concept of the Seven Deadly Sins and Horcruxes being fused together. So. Yeah. Rereading this to refresh my memory while I’m compiling this list would be counterproductive, but from what I remember I spent some solid hours reading this with a lot of appreciation. The chapter amount might look incredibly daunting, but each chapter is only at least 100 words. So. Not so scary.)

this ain’t no fairytale series by RenderedReversed (One day, this series decided to slap me in the face-in the greatest of ways-and I soon became hooked after the first fic. Characterization is spot-on, and I love the world building. Their relationship is lovely and profound, and I love that both Tom and Harry are keeping secrets from each other about their pasts, though are slowly opening up to each other. My fantasy gaming experience is mostly in the Fire Emblem series, but this fic is encouraging me to look into the highly-rated Recettear, on Steam, which this au is based on.)

Until Death Do Us Part by Rendered Reversed (I really love fics where there is powerful imagery and otherworldliness. Tom and Harry and Gods, here, so yay. Also Yandere!Harry. BIG YAY.)

Zubats, Zubats Everywhere by RenderedReversed (Bruh, it’s a Pokémon AU. That’s honestly the only excuse I need. I love their roles in this. It’s a nice, playful breath of air.)

Not Strong Enough by Sayon_170 (Help me, child!Tom is the sweetest most and possessive little thing. Harry goes back in time to raise Tom. There’s an OC, but it’s actually very interesting to see the budding Tomarry dynamic from that character’s perspective. Tom has not yet matured enough to cultivate his cultured, charming mask to present to the rest of the world, and it’s pretty alarming and fascinating to think what will happen to Tom and Harry’s relationship in the future. Harry, good luck.)

Amazing concept, strong characterization, and beautiful, haunting imagery. My favorite scene is when Harry turns into his dead mother. Also, I’m sobbing over the author calling Tom ‘T-Ridds,’ in the notes somewhere. God, that’s funny.)

The Spellmaker by SonnyGietzel (Very interesting ideas in this one. Very bookish!Harry. I cry because the only Tom Harry ever gets to talk to is the barkeep. And then you look at the last date updated…IT HAD SO MUCH POTENTIAL.)

Good Intentions by Strange_Soulmates (I HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS ABOUT THIS FIC. PROBABLY ONE OF MY FAVORITES. Child!Harry is such a pure and precious cinnamon roll. Tom, on the other hand, is a sinnamon roll. There’s something both poetic and beautifully fucked up when you read about little Harry unknowingly helping his new BFF Handsome Prince Tom design the motherfricken’ Dark Mark. In which vandalism will probably be the least of Tom’s crimes. I also love how tiny Harry is so wise and kind, but is still unable to recognize the extent of Tom’s evil. He thinks Tom is being cool, I can’t even- Tom is so in love with Harry that you’ll feel like Lily and James in the beginning of the unlikely duo’s relationship, all warm and approving. It’s really so sweet. Also, the end of chapter 4 is glorious, pls read it. To quote chapter 3 and James’ decision of bringing Harry and Tom closer together: “It was the worst mistake he ever made in his life.” If that doesn’t make you want to keep reading, I don’t know what else will.)

Matelotage by Strange_Soulmates (A pirate!au for Tomarrytines. WOW, ANOTHER AMAZING PIRATE!AU. AND THIS ONE HAS JUST STARTED. The characterization in this is simply superb, and Harry is strong, but still retains his morals and selflessness. He cleverly bargains with Tom, and is just all-around awesome??? Tom is also described quite well with his propensity for cunning and violence, and Barty is winning a special place in my heart.)

More Precious than Rubies by Strange_Soulmates (I am waiting with bated breath for this to be finished. It’s beautiful. I’m not sure how else to describe this. A fairy tale turned on its head, where the princess, sorry Harry, wizard stuck in a tower falls in love with the dragon guarding him. Possessive Tom is already a thing I’m into. Possessive Dragon Tom? Hell yes.)

It’s pretty fucking interesting, in layman’s terms. Harry is bae, but I pretty much love him in all of this author’s fics. So.) 

Rebuilt by Terrific_Lunacy (Really dramatic, magnificent Steampunk!AU. Lots of world building and characterization. Really, really good with a very intricate and impressive plot. I feel smarter after reading it, haha.)

An echo of the past by TosMichiyo (I reaaaallly liked this one. One of those rare Tom-comes-to-the-future fics.)

Twin Skeletons series by transpreussen (Time travel. What is different about this one is that poor Harry isn’t alone like he normally is. He has friends with him in the past, yay.)

It’s a bit different from some of the other fics I rec. Lots of purple prose and beautifully flowery language, if you’re into that. I just really love the general air of ethereal otherworldliness about it. Most of that vibe is from Harry, or at least how Tom/Voldy/Marvolo/whatshisname sees him as. Jesus son, are you moonlighting as a poet when you aren’t murdering people.)

Iridescent by: BloodyWar2411 (The plot is similar to this manhwa called Totally Captivated, but the author addresses this later. I have also read both works, and I think the similarities are coincidence. It really is not very hard to imagine Tom as a mob boss, after all.)

October by: The Carnivorous Muffin (It’s full of purple prose and incredibly verbose and full of interesting diction. Some may feel that these qualities are a turn-off, but as you can tell by my own ao3 username, I really appreciate the T.S. Eliot quotes in Chapters 9 and 10. The later plot might range from confusing to bizarre, but god do I love how otherworldly and inhuman Harry/Azrael is depicted.)

One where Harry appears back in time and catches Tom’s attention. Not a lot of dialogue. There is a New Year’s party and Tom trying to make advances…only for Harry to flee.  Harry is angsting but Tom shows up later, telling Harry that he’s already guessed that he’s a time traveler. Tom also says something about hoping that his kiss wasn’t so offensive that Harry ran away like a damsel in distress or something.

I think there also was another one where Tom is working at Borgin and Burkes, but meets Harry, who time traveled??? Harry cannot stop Tom from killing and generally being amoral, and there is a really bittersweet scene of them banging after angst, with Tom covered in the blood of his unfortunate victim, and Harry just resignedly on the rocks. Literally.

Hmm…I think something might be wrong with my bookmarks. I keep remembering plots for fics I want to add here, go to the fic and see that I bookmarked it, but did not see it the 3-5 times I have been double-checking my bookmarks. Ugh.

This list basically covers what I personally love about most Tomarry fics I like to read. I had to stop myself from adding any more before things became too crazy, haha. Generally, I love most time travel fics. I definitely have more fics bookmarked that I have not included on this list, and probably only subscribed to some so I don't have their links now. Back then during phase 3 tumblr wasn’t as big as it is now so fandoms wasn’t a thing.. I didn’t even know tumblr exists and I only had like FB and twitter.. and me, as a teenager, just kept my love for gorillaz all to myself. I rewatched the MVs again and again, listened to Plastic Beach alone at home since my friends didn’t like Gorillaz, and visited Gorillaz website just to check on the rooms and found a scared 2D in the underground levels lol he was scared of whales. (they have the same concept rn with the gorillaz app) ah also, looking for unofficial fanarts were difficult (I literally wrote “Gorillaz art” or something like that in the search bar).

So, 7 years later (present time), Gorillaz released another album last week and I have never felt so nostalgic, and happy, of course. Humanz has this deeper feels in the whole album, the songs are heavier to my ears compared to the ‘floaty’ and light Plastic Beach vibes lol I don’t know what’s the best word to describe the album, but you should listen to PB and understand my conclusion. This makes me incredibly HYPED about Humanz because: They aren’t afraid to change up the atmosphere, I read somewhere that the artists were told to think about a world where tr/ump is elected (and voila he really did) thus the rough and heavy feels to the music i guess? but STILL has this Gorillaz originality

The only thing I’m sad about is the members are aging, Jamie and Damon are aging, and like Wendy from Peterpan I am, wishes that I don’t wanna grow up or specifically: I wish time would just stop. s t o p. :“) will the gangs still be here when I’m as old as Russel right now?

They gain a lot of new fans and gather the old ones.. I wish the best for them. “On Melancholy Hills” hits the soft spot in my heart so hard I can cry anytime now while writing this sobs (PB basically was everything to me back in 2010)

My faves from Humanz are: - Charger (HOLY SHIT GRACE JONES, 2D’S ‘A CHA CHARGER’ IS ADDICTING AS HECK) - Let Me Out (didn’t like it as much first, and now, I love it so much it’s maKING ME WANT TO D I E) - Momentz (The “Red or black yellow black red white dirty” is the most catchy line) - Saturn Barz (the grand birth of the memes: ol my loife, t h e b a t h) - Andromeda (the one that has the same vibe as Plastic Beach but more futuristic thanks to the synths and official audio mv)

A makeover for our website-in-progress has arrived! Though it's more likely we’ll have more people naturally appreciating it’s full glory when we replace the old website, you can check it out right now by logging out. If you want to get the scoops straight from the horse’s mouth, you should follow that blog closely. We’ve been slowing down since last week’s near daily updates, but there’s still plenty of content to dig in on every week!

An interesting new “mapper subscription” service has popped up in the form of a discord bot! It seems to still be in the early stages of development, but already sees a surge of users much like the number of people who requested it to be in the main game. While it is still a planned feature for the main site eventually, you can go follow all your favorite mappers right now while we work out the road map for everything that has yet to come.

Voting for this season’s osu!fan-art contest is now closed! Just a look at the fantastic submissions we’ve had this time tells me that we had one of the most successful fanart contests yet. If you’ve been waiting patiently for the results to arrive, you will likely not have to wait much longer. A little birdie told me that the results are coming very soon, so keep your eyes out for the post!

Just a reminder to everyone that there has in fact been a change to how the ranking process works. The beatmap nomination group has been split up into two tiers, with each tier being able to perform different tasks to help your map through the ranking system. For information on how and what’s changed, as well as a full list of tiered BNs, please refer to the thread.

The osu!standard community mentorship program is at the start of a new cycle! This means that between the 23rd of april and the 5th of May, experienced mappers/modders can apply to be mentors in the upcoming round. For those who want to apply as a mentee, you’re gonna have to wait just a little longer when pupil applications open up on the 7th of May. The mentorship program is a great opportunity for new mappers to get further ahead in the game with the expert guidance of a much more experienced member of the community. I recommend anyone who has the initiative to learn and become better to check it out!

The SOFT (Springtime osu!mania (4K) FFA Tournament) is ironically one of the HARDest tournaments osu! has ever seen, and it is nearing its conclusion! The grand finals of the everyone for themselves madness is set to go forward this weekend. Tune in Saturday 29 at 12 UTC and Sunday 30th at 11 UTC to see the finale of the unrated brawl that can only end with one man standing!

Maybe they should make a spinoff titled the osu!HARD tournament and have players eat cement blocks

Registrations are open for the osu!mania PH Summer Tournament! This time, they seem to be going to also host a 7K tournament in addition to the 4K tournament they normally do. In line with its namesake, for once, this tournament is only open to those who wear the Philippine flag on their profile.

One of our players discovered that a pretty important aspect of (over)streaming has changed! A pretty big change was made to the way streams can be hit in the event of a miss. In the past, missing in the middle of the stream meant there was no way to recover the next note. While this change is reflected in a version of the game that is very much a work in progress, it seems like a pretty solid improvement on what we have right now. What do you guys think?

It would be an understatement to say that the way we handle beatmap ranking has come a long way, and perhaps its current form might not be immediately intuitive. Ekoro is certainly MADE OF FIRE as he secured an unbelievable 99.51% HDFL FC on Niko - Made of Fire, earning himself only 269pp, but this score will not match that number at all. Strap your pants on, you are in for a wild ride to 2009 mapping!

Might as well do it with eyes closed, v2fax pulled off an unbelievable 97.69% HDHR FC on LeaF - Wizdomiot to give himself 425pp. This is something else for the 19th placed Japanese.

inteliser made it big time again as he completed an amazing SS run on UNDEAD CORPORATION - The Empress scream off ver on Jepetski’s Empress to earn himself 492pp and the No. 1 spot. An amazing score that may take a while to get beaten as no one has gotten an SS yet! Check it out straight from inteliser’s channel!

1. Haplo the Patryn - The Death Gate Cycle (book series)

Posting an amazing fanart by Melusaaste because there’s not an official art that shows him so close-up, and honestly, this is the most accurate depiction of him I’ve ever seen. 

Haplo is the anti-hero and main character of The Death Gate Cycle series written by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. Personal childhood hero (despite being an antihero himself), husbando and whatnot, until today he’s one of my fav characters ever, because through him I learnt the most perfect character development, from a cruel, merciless and amoral villain, to... well, not a hero if you think so, but to redeemed human being. 

“A 'why' is a dangerous thing... It challenges old, comfortable ways, forces people to think about that they do instead of just mindlessly doing it.” - Haplo in Dragon Wing, the first volume of the series.

2. Johan Liebheart - Monster

You don’t know what’s a villain until you meet this bastard. I am not an otaku or very enthusiastic of anime series, but Monster by Naoki Urasawa are probably the best manga/anime series ever written. And his villain, Johan Liberheart, one of the most twisted fucks ever written by an author.

Tortured, mentally ill, twisted, cruel, amoral, there’s no way to explain Johan. He experiences no character development and he has not a single redeeming quality, yet you just can’t let him go. An unforgettable character, not recommended for the weak and vulnerable.

There's nothing special about being born. Not a thing. Most of the universe is just death, nothing more. In this universe of ours, the birth of a new life on some corner of our planet is nothing but a tiny, insignificant flash. Death is a normal thing. So why live?

3. Geralt of Rivia - The Witcher (book/videogame series)

I’m so sorry I met this amazing character through The Witcher videogame series, because he existed already in the book series of the same name written by  Andrzej Sapkowski, and I really feel like posting this video because it perfectly sums up the spirit of the character.

Geralt is a witcher, a mutant specialist in killing demons and monsters for coin. He’s shaped like an anti-hero and despised by his society because of his nature and his mercenary job, but despite having everything for being just a rogue scoundrel, he manages to become a very rich character. Full of redeeming qualities despite his grey morals, Geralt struggles in a cruel Middle-Ages world to keep something human for himself, when everyone surrounding him tries to turn him in the heartless freak he was trained to be.

“People," Geralt turned his head, "like to invent monsters and monstrosities. Then they seem less monstrous themselves. When they get blind-drunk, cheat, steal, beat their wives, starve an old woman, when they kill a trapped fox with an axe or riddle the last existing unicorn with arrows, they like to think that the Bane entering cottages at daybreak is more monstrous than they are. 4. Raistlin Majere - The Dragonlace (book series)

Again, I’ve to go back to a character created by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman (man, this people CAN write characters I tell you), this time for the Dragonlance series. These books are less original and brilliant than The Death Gate Cycle, but more popular and beloved because they are easier to read. And Raistlin Majere is probably the best character written for these series, being saved among them because of being, probably, the less cliché and the more complex of them all.

And again, anti-hero at times, redeemed hero at other times, tortured, twisted, cynic and cruel, but also able to show kindness and a human heart at times. Raistlin was born weak and sick and sacrificed everything (including his own health) for one sake: magic. And power. His only life desire is what will lead him to his own destruction.

"Of course this means a lot to me, Caramon. It means everything! I have worked and studied almost my entire life for this chance. What would you have me do - cast it aside because it is dangerous? Life is dangerous, Caramon. Just stepping out that door is dangerous! You cannot hide me from danger. Death floats in the air, creeps through the window, comes in with the hand-shake of a stranger. If we stop living because we fear death we have already died."

5. Tyrion Lannister (A Song of Ice and Ice/Game of Thrones series)

This little amazing piece of awesomeness needs no presentation. I am again sorry I met through the Game Of Thrones TV series and not A Song Of Ice And Fire books, but it was totally worth it because it’s one of the most well-written characters I’ve had the pleasure to meet, and I must say Peter Dinklage was born to play him.

What can I say? Tyrion is one of those characters who are worth living. A dwarf, deformed, ugly, with no physical or war skills, relying only in his extreme intelligence and wisdom and his political talent to survive, he’s one of the most strong inspirations one can find. Definitely go check him.

6. Kurtis Trent (Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness videogame)

I included Lara Croft in my female characters list, it would be absolutely unfair to forget Kurtis as he’s the other character that got my heart in TR series. Not gonna rant long about him here, because you already know my opinion. He was amazing. He deserved better. Ex-legionnaire, demon hunter and Lux Veritatis warrior, I’ve devoted all my fanfics to develop him as there was no chance for Core Design to do it so.

Fitting more in the role of a hero, I think he was also the perfect partner for Lara. His background is very well written and he had a lot of potential. The fact I will never see it doesn’t change anything. He deserves his place here.

7. L Lawliet - Death Note (manga/anime series)

Again, I reinforce the statement that I’m not a fan of manga/anime series, but definitely Death Note is, together with Monster, one of those you should watch. And yes for everyone who loves Death Note, I’m a L fan. You always choose between L or Kira sides, and despite I’ve to recognize that Kira is a very complex, well written character, it’s L who gets my heart.

Supertalented, amoral, brilliant, extremely unpredictable and surprising, L is the first one of the agents that will try to catch Kira, the murderer who uses a Death Note to implant his particular justice world. L deserves your attention more than Kira, I presume. Or at least, it’s what I think.

Lying monsters are a real nuisance. They are much more cunning than other monsters. They pose as humans even though they have no understanding of the human heart. If I were to encounter such a monster, I would likely be eaten by it. Because in truth, I am that monster.”

8. V - V for Vendetta (graphic novel/movie)

I know, easy to love him, right? Again I’m sad that I met this character through the movie and not the original graphic novel, though you can’t say a thing against Hugo Weaving’s magnificent delivery. I wish I could get my hands on the graphic novel, so I can know him better.

Anarchist, terrorist, idealist, V is the incarnation of the protest against dictatorship and opression in a dystopian England that has supressed all the rights and human freedom. If you don’tknow him, I strongly recommend at least the movie, for the inspiration this character delivers goes beyond that the mask that has trascended the movie itself to become a symbol of citizen fight.

9. Roger - American Dad (TV series)

Well technically he’s not a he, he’s rather an it, but whatever. Also he’s it’s a different trend in this post since I love him particularly because he’s funny and incarnates all the non-political correct you can expect from someone.

He also gives me, kinda, TR vibes. Roger is an alien who landed in Earth during Cold War and was rescued and sheltered at his home by Stan, a CIA agent who’s the main character of the series. Honestly I think Roger is the best of American Dad - a TV show which basically and mercilessly mocks every American value - because despite being an alien is absolutely, indecently human. I prefer him and this show much more than the overrated Family Guy.

10.  Dwight Schrute - The Office (TV series)

Last but not the least, the efficient, clever and adorable bastard hillbilly from The Office. I loved him from the very first moment he appeared. Yeah I know many people hate him or prefer the goofy boss of the handsome Jim but Dwight is really my spirit animal and speaks to me in so many levels. No more comment needed. He’s the best of the show to me.

Well this took forever, right? Sorry for the length of this post but now I’m free I wanted to give it some thought. I see again that I’ve a soft spot for grey morals, redeeming qualities, bad boys and complex characters. This is how it goes! ;)

Hi Maxim! I wouldn’t call it “planning”, but that thought crossed my mind lately. I didn’t want to talk about it openly because it would sound as I’m complaining, but I’ve feeling fed up, tired and disappointed with the fandom lately. The amounts of anon hate I got in the past, the way the franchise is being managed, what has been done to Lara Croft… nothing what remains nowadays has nothing to do with the character, the heroine and fandom I used to love. I felt there was nothing left here - apart of some of you awesome guys, of course, but I meant, concerning the franchise in general.

Lara Croft is not Lara Croft anymore, Tomb Raider nowadays has nothing to do with the game I used to love and play, and most of the fandom doesn’t give a shit about it. Not the new fans who naturally, after finding the reboot at the current status of the franchise (same with the ones that started with LAU trilogy), and logically, have not the same references, but specially old fans. Lara has disappeared, Crystal killed her, they killed the game and everything that made the character and Tomb Raider special, but this fandom doesn’t care. Doesn’t give a damn. They keep buying those games and there are no consequences for Crystal Dynamics having destroyed a legacy and an icon.

Nobody. Gives. A. Fuck. That’s why we are now here, and whereas for most of the fandom is no big deal, I really cared and I’m astonished to read some opinions and the general status of the franchise out there. I feel like there is no place here for old fans anymore. And please don’t get me wrong, I respect people liking reboot or LAU trilogy despite I don’t like these eras at all. But the way Crystal has disrespected Core Design, insulted Classic Lara and the old games  - not to mention the unfair treatment and opinions TRAOD gets until today, a failed project that involved people fired from their jobs and precisely, those who worked during years under a stressful schedule to bring us Tomb Raider… - it really brought me down.

Also, a very personal matter, like the way I’ve been writing fanfics for this fandom like more than 10 years now and nobody. Gives. A. Fuck. When I say nobody gives a fuck doesn’t mean that I don’t have readers - thanks God, I’ve very faithful readers and beautiful feedback despite I spent many years without a single review. What I mean is, this fandom doesn’t care about us, writers. 

Everyone will reblog, like or made visible even the most little piece of TR fanart, while TR fanfiction won’t get any kind of attention. I mean in general, in this fandom. Every doodle - and I mean no disrespect with “doodle”, I like them, I share them as well - will be liked and shared and reblogged at some point, every digital artist using some digital tools will be praised non-stop and publicly acknowledged not only externally in the fandom, but also by the main accounts and forums.

Fanfic writers get NOTHING of this. This fandom doesn’t read. This fandom doesn’t care. I am not speaking just about me, there are amazing fanfics and amazing writers out there, and nobody is giving a shit about their work because THIS FANDOM DOESN’T FUCKING READ. Even the scarce written pieces that got some recognition in the past, I don’t think they are being really read by most of the fans, they just reblog news and announcements and that’s all.

All this situation got me frustrated in the past and that’s why I left Spanish fandom in 2006, when TRLegend was released and I lost Lara and TRAOD. Back then I had readers and reviews too but I got fed up with all the situation, also some harassment and bullying related with the Spanish TR forum I don’t really want to talk about.

I returned to the fandom two years ago because I had learnt English, I had translated my fics to English (now perfectly readable thanks to the help of many beta-readers) and I thought the international fandom could be different.

How naive I was.

So after two years moving around the international fandom I still see the same crap that made me leave before, in the Spanish fandom: Lara is dead, Tomb Raider is dead, nobody gives a fuck and you’ll get harassment and hate if you are vocal about it - I accept I am kinda aggressive, but I don’t harass or stalk other blogs -, even if what I do it’s just criticising the product, and the company that produced the product, and NEVER the people that likes or prefers it. 

Situation of fanfiction is worse, tho. At least in Spanish fandom there was a place for every fanfic writer, so they could share their stuff and were accepted and acknowledged, got regular feedback and reviews.

So - long story short, I’m tired, sad and depressed because I don’t know what I’m doing here anymore. I never pretended anyone stop loving reboot/LAU, but I wanted to keep Classic Lara alive (somehow), get people to know and appreciate TRAOD despite its evident flaws, and over all, share my fics as a contribution to this fandom and make other fics also more visible (not only mine, of course, that’s why I’ve shared and recommended and reviewed others).

All I got, the same: anon and non anon hate, more TRAOD/Classic Lara trashing, and absolute indifference concerning fanfiction by the fandom in general - I don’t speak of the readers I already have and that I appreciate so much, please!

I’m tired and I’m not sure what I’m doing here anymore, and if nobody cares about what Lara Croft (and all her classic universe) was once. Seeing the so-alleged classic fans trashing her the same way Crystal did was the ultimate shit to witness in this fandom.

That’s why I was thinking to delete and move on to my personal stuff. I really want to be a writer and until now I’ve only managed to publish one book, and it wasn’t a successful one. Fanfiction has helped me a lot to improve my writing (not to mention my English!) so I don’t regret anything, and I would never delete them from my fanfic profiles, but maybe it’s time to move to another things and definitely leave Tomb Raider - or whatever the fuck that is - fandom.

I never planned to make “something big” here, or to change people’s preferences, but it’s sad and frustrating what happened to my main fandom. Despite I know it’s just a fictional character, Lara Croft really mattered to me, and I don’t see this enthusiasm in this fandom anymore. They will keep buying games to the company that killed her and proving them right when in 2006 they rebooted her without respecting her background, biography and spirit, and in 2013 they did it again.

So, why to be here anymore? That was my general feeling. Sorry for the long rant, but… since you asked, when I answer, I answer.
