Do you think that alicent rhaenyra and haelena suffer from mental health?

Alicent is most certainly mentally ill from the moment she is married off to viserys, while I think Helaena is neurodivergent, not necessarily mentally ill until after Blood and Cheese. Rhaenyra is more complicated, I think there were times she was faced with mental illness, I think there also times she was not and that these times were greater. (this is all within the show, I'm not sure about the books)

Alicent was being raped and forced to bear children from a very young age, that is so much pain and suffering, so much trauma to go through. from a young age she is shown to have a lot of signs of ptsd, anxiety, ppd (postpartum depression) especially after Helaena is born, it seems, and depression. there are few moments she seems truly happy and at ease, constantly worn by stress. I don't think she ever recovered from those early years, and she remains mentally ill until the end, where it festers in the aftermath of the end of the war, and she dies of insanity.

Helaena definitely came off as autistic to me, even in her little screen time. I won't discredit the possible trauma of her father's neglect or being married off to Aegon (though there is no proof he is abusive or forceful upon her, she was married off to someone some could say she did not love and did not love her), she seems mostly unaffected by this. I think her mental illness will come into play after B&C and the loss of her children.

Rhaenyra is the most complicated to me. we don't really see the aftermath of her births, so I can't say if she experienced any ppd/ppp, she might have, she might not have. she lived a relatively easy life outside of her mother's death, which did seem to cause some depression while she was young, but she seemed to move on from that in time. she does seem to have some depression and anxiety during her time at the keep, the stress weighing on her, but it never seemed to be as constant or heavy as Alicents (not to downplay, just to give a comparison). after the loss of her daughter is would be beyond cruel to deny that she would sink into a depression. she miscarried horribly essentially alone to a deformed stillborn little girl. miscarrying on it own is horrific and traumatizing, but the circumstances make it even more horrific. so while there are instances she shows signs of mental health issues, I don't believe she was wholly afflicted until after she lost Visenya.

this just my opinion on the matter, and I will give Rhaenyra credit by saying she was definitely very good at keeping up her wits and appearances, so finding moments of "weakness" or mental illness are definitely harder to spot, especially when the show tends to shy away from showing her low points and panders to her moments of strength.

I was a Percy Jackson kid not only in the sense of being a fan of the book series but also in the sense that i was exactly like Percy and this is why i have zero sympathy for Harry Potter kids who still like the series or 'Marauder's Era' or whatever they're calling it now to excuse not growing up to care about other people

I'm autistic.I showed blatant symptoms my whole life but everyone around me denied them to reduce me down to a 'gifted kid' or 'an idiot' depending on the situation and my relathionships with other kids were always either complex at best or nonstop bullying on their side at worst.I'm black and queer in every direction too(in the sense that i am both a man and a woman both in a non-cis way,into all genders and aroacespec).All this lead to a lot of feelings of otherness and anger but i never let that stop me from still being nice to almost everyone and getting into fights at school from standing up to bullies that a lot the time weren't even targeting me but other kids i didn't even really know.This is why Percy is my all time favorite character,because he was the first time i saw someone like me be the protagonist and i still see myself in him as much as i did back then

Harry Potter is none of that and i mean the whole franchise.SO MANY of the people in the series are perpetrators of toxicity and even corruption and there was a whole sorted house at Hogwarts set out to opress the minority metaphors that nobody ever bothered to try to disband,not even the oh so precious 'Chosen One',and that includes the fandom.'Slytherins are discrimated for being ambitious' genuinely felt like microaggression to me back when i was in the fandom because 'discrimation'?Really? Why are some TB individuals on twitter always loosing their shit and behave like rabid monkeys under artwork that uses a dany quote or other Targ/Valyrian related stuff which has the green Targs pictured. annoying to already see people discoursing about this “meleys the traitor” scene.

greens will say, pretending to care about the smallfolk, that they have a right to be mad about the attack on Aegon’s coronation because of the collateral damage to the smallfolk, which, fair enough, however stupid I may feel that scene was, it did do some unnecessary damage to the smallfolk of king’s landing.

HOWEVER.

if the scene is uncritically people buying into otto’s propoganda, it’s not only stupid it’s also an annoying departure from the books and a continuation of got writers (first d&d now condal and hess) treating the smallfolk as if they’re stupid which they are not. Look at the actual text of F&B:

Eight hundred knights and squires and common men lost their lives that day as well. Another hundred perished not long after, when Prince Aemond and Ser Criston Cole took Rook’s Rest and put its garrison to death. Lord Staunton’s head was carried back to King’s Landing and mounted above the Old Gate…but it was the head of the dragon Meleys, drawn through the city on a cart, that awed the crowds of smallfolk into silence. Septon Eustace tells us that thousands left King’s Landing afterward, until the Dowager Queen Alicent ordered the city gates closed and barred.

Yes, in both the books and the show, the Greens managing to kill Meleys the Red Queen and Rhaenys the Queen That Never Was is a big victory for them and of course Otto is going to turn it into a propaganda moment. It's even understandable that some of the smallfolk would turn on Rhaenys (in the show only) after her (stupidly written) stunt at the coronation. But those last two lines are crucial because it shows us what the smallfolk are really thinking as the Dance kicks off - "If the Greens are willing to disrespect even the nobility after their death, if they are willing to parade around the head of one of their great, terrifying, beloved, and respected dragons, treat Meleys the Red Queen like she's nothing but game hunted for sport...seven hells what are these people going to do to the rest of us nobodies?"

And that is why, if the show takes the route of erasing how terrified the smallfolk are after the Battle of the Rook's Rest, it's a complete disservice to the smallfolk just to have them buy Otto's propaganda hook line and sinker. They are not stupid, and when they realize very early on in the Dance just how awful and violet this conflict is going to get, they attempt to leave for safety and it's only Alicent locking them into King's Landing like lambs to the slaughter that stops the exodus from King's Landing.

Cutting that scene takes away not just the perceptiveness of the smallfolk of King's Landing to make the Greens look better, it also takes away one of the crucial moments that leads to the Storming of the Dragon Pit; after realizing that dragons can be killed by regular humans and not just dragonriders because they are forced to look at Meleys' severed head, then locked into a city that gets progressively more dangerous, with dragons that are getting increasingly more aggravated because of the continued violence of the Dance, the smallfolk take the only course of action they feel they have left to them and that's to rise up and massacre the dragons in the pit in a vain and violent attempt to protect themselves from the endless slaughter that the Greens forced them to live through.

Did you feel like that the people that survived rhaenys in the dragonpit will go back home and tell everyone else how their dowager queen, who is more like them in that she too doesn't have a dragon like all the special targs, stood her ground in face of what is basically a nuke and didn't move an inch? Basically i feel like this is how legends are made where people who are vastly weaker stared down a murdering monster and wins. I think optics wise rhaenys made a huge miscalculation. Also even if alicent was afraid I'm pretty sure the smallfolk will feel she is willing to stand up against a dragon and if they were not able to see the scene clearly (with all the chaos) still it shows alicent as a hero who didn't back down.

Basically i feel like they may feel as alicent is the queen they deserve. Also this staredown can easily spread to regions far from kingslanding and it feels like it would be a win for the greens what with rhaenys murdering a bunch of small folk for her moment.

yes, i do. i did not read the books but have seen a lot of people say that both alicent and helaena were loved by the people, and i can see how this can be part of it.

alicent, visbly not targaryen, not having a dragon, being reminded of rhaenys that her name is hightower, stood in front of meleys and basically said to rhaenys if you kill me son, i die too. and alicent was 100% ready to face death right there.

i don't know about anyone else, but if i was in that crowd and survived, i'd be traumatized, horrified and pissed. and to see a queen that i can relate to more do that for her children, stand up to a dragon, the very symbol of what kept targaryens in power for so long, i'd say that alicent was pretty brave and strong.

and we, the viewer, know alicent is not super chill with dragons.

i also think rhaenys made a mistake. how are you gonna save face when the people know you basically massacred a bunch of people to make a point? how will the rest of the people rally behind you? how is this the deed of those who say they supported viserys "the peaceful" the most?

let's be clear, for the smallfolk, they're never in the room where shit is discussed, and unless they know about things through people like mysaria, they never know it at all. most of them are probably hella confused as to why rhaenys did that, or believe she did it in the name of rhaenyra, which is... partially true.

and yeah, word spreads, quickly, we just don't know if we'll see people talk about it, if they’ll include this as part of the narrative.

the scene was badass to watch, and i like watching rhaenys because she's a strong woman (even when sometimes i criticize her choices), but obviously it's a massacre for the smallfolk.

though we both know there will be more of this from both sides i imagine. the smallfolk are really gonna be like this the whole series:

@bookwormscififan shared an idea of Chase celebrating his birthday with the Egos taking Chase to laser tag and I got a liiiiitle carried away XD

Chase was already buzzing with excitement as he slipped the thick, black vest over his head, watching the others around him do the same with their own vests. His smile somehow got even bigger as Marvin went up to him and helped make sure the vest was on him properly.

“I still can’t believe that everyone agreed to do this,” Chase said, playing with some of the colorful streamers that were tucked into Marvin’s ponytail. 

Robbie and Blank had decorated the others at the House before they left. Streamers, glitter, and washable markers were almost like weapons and no one was safe. Chase had some green lines across his cheeks, almost looking like the kind of ‘war paint’ one would see with football players. There was also some glitter in his hair that he’d already accepted as being part of him for a while since glitter always stuck around. 

“It’s for your birthday, they’re willing to do whatever it takes to make sure it’s a perfect, happy day for you.” Marvin kissed Chase’s cheek. “But that doesn’t mean they’ll go easy on you when the game starts.” He added with a wink. 

“Are you ready for battle!?” Jackie asked in a shout as he went over to Chase. He had streamers tied around his head like a sweatband, green lines on his cheeks like Chase, and patches of glitter on his arms.

“Hell yeah!” Chase matched Jackie’s energy and the two ran off, leaving Marvin to smile and roll his eyes. 

“Septiceyes verses Ipliers!” Wilford joined in the excited yelling, he was covered almost the same as Jackie but with a lot more glitter. 

“I��m not a Septiceye nor an Iplier so I should be allowed to sit out with Host,” Mad stated, having a few streamers tied around his wrists and the green lines were on his face, too. 

“We’re honorary Septiceyes today,” Phantom said, several streamers around his neck tied into a loose bow. He had green on his cheeks but Blank had insisted that Phantom’s had to be swirls and not straight lines. “Plus I like the idea of being able to shoot my brother without consequences.” 

“It’s just a laser, don’t get too excited.” Mare had a smirk with his scoff, arms lined with tied streamers and glitter.

“If Mad wishes to sit out, I can do the same so the teams remain even,” Google said. 

“Don’t be boring, Googs!” Bing nudged Google with his elbow, grin bright while Google breathed heavily through his nose. Both androids had their arms covered in glitter and some braided streamers were around their necks, hanging down like ties.

“Birthday boy says it’s time to go!” Anti shouted from the chair he stood on, any exposed skin on him was covered in green marker and glitter, and streamers looped around his legs to make a crossing pattern. 

He had dozed off when Blank and Robbie were getting him ready and the two got a little carried away. 

“I give it fifteen seconds before the match is over,” Henrik stated, standing next to Edward. They matched with streamers wrapped around their torsos like they were mummies. 

“If some of us try cheatin’ with powers, it only gonna be like ten,” Yancy stated. He had a thick collection of streamers tied around both upper arms. 

“If even that.” Illinois chuckled, his arms having the same collection of streamers. 

“We can have as many rounds as we want.” JJ silently giggled as he had the words appear in Yancy and Illinois’ heads. He also had a thick collection of streamers, but his were tied around his waist. 

“Let’s get this over with,” Dark said as he guided Yancy and Illinois off to join the other Ipliers and Mare to the back set of doors. Dark had planned just to have a few streamers on his wrist to keep the peace, but after Anti got covered he was held down and got himself matching Anti’s level of mess. And he was still grumpy about it.

“Ready to show them what we can do?” Chase asked his team, bouncing on his feet as he held the ‘gun’ one of the workers had given him. 

“I don’t really have a-ow!” Mad didn’t get to finish before Marvin was elbowing him. “Totally ready!” He said that instead and then cringed at how weird that felt and sounded.

“Totally ready.” Phantom echoed in a teasing tone that turned into a laugh when Mad glared at him. 

“Let’s go!” Chase cheered and sprinted into a game room first. 

He blinked fast, getting his eyes adjusted to the different lighting. He loved the fun colors, could hear the music playing from speakers above, songs that he knew all too well and he felt like he was in an action film. All eyes were on him as he ducked through the foam walls that turned the room into a maze. He was the protagonist who would save the day by taking out anyone in his way.

This was so cool!

Chase leaped over a short foam wall and with the biggest grin and the tip of his tongue sticking out, he quickly ‘shot’ Google in the back. Google looked down at the red light on his chest, shrugged, and walked off. Chase turned and saw Henrik chasing after Edward, both laughing and Henrik suddenly stopped, the light on his chest going red and a cheer from Wilford giving away that he had been the one to take him out.

“You made it to twenty seconds.” Edward chuckled.

“And you made it to twenty-five.” Henrik pointed at Edwad’s chest, light now red as well. 

“Gotcha!” Chase called out, smiling as both doctors laughed some more and waved at him as they went to the side with Google. 

“Doube-team!? Really!?” Marvin’s voice huffed from behind a foam wall that reached the ceiling. Chase looked around and saw Yancy and Illinois with Marvin. 

“Most of yous got magic, we can use tag team.” Yancy chuckled. 

“Maybe you’ll get us next-” Illinois stopped when his light went red.

“Wait, how-” Yancy stopped as well and his own light also went red. 

“You two got too cocky.” Chase grinned as he stepped out of his hiding spot. He then went to Marvin and bowed. “You’ve been avenged.”

“I’ll be sure to reward you for that later.” Marvin giggled, slipping off Chase’s hat to kiss the top of his head. 

“Gross.” Yancy stuck his tongue out.

“Gross? I could be so much blunter. I’m going to suck-”

“Nope, nope, nope. I hear nothing!” Yancy covered his ears and walked away. 

“Have fun, but don’t hurt yourself,” Marvin said to Chase, giving him one more quick kiss on the cheek before heading off with Illinois.

“I’m shocked you don’t already have something planned for tonight,” Illinois commented.

“Oh, I do~” 

“Sorry blueberry.” Wilford’s voice behind Chase told him that JJ’s was out. His team was still ahead, but only by one. 

“Shit, shit, shit.” Bing was scrambling past Chase, not seeing him. “Shit!” His last curse was one of disappointment at his light going red. 

“I hide in the shadows.” Chase played up his voice and Bing laughed. 

“I’ll get ya next round, dude.” Bing saluted and went off to sit with Google. 

“That leaves Wil, Dark, and Mare.” Chase listed off. 

“Does it just vibrate or does it make a noise?” Mad’s voice sounded worried but Chase had learned the difference between his actual worry and the exaggerated worried voice Anti and Marvin taught him to use when it came to Mare. 

Meaning that Mare was with Mad. 

Chase snuck around the foam walls and saw Mad and Mare. Even though Mare knew the worry in Mad’s voice wasn’t real, he still couldn’t help but fall for it every time. Chase found it sweet how Mare’s first thought was Mad’s safety and comfort, knowing he was the same way with Marvin. He also knew that Mad only ever used that voice with Mare when someone else told him to. Phantom was likely-

“Oh, you shit!” Mare turned when his light went red, glaring over at Phantom who was laughing. “That’s a cheap move!” 

“Sorry.” Mad gave Mare an apology kiss. 

“I did not want to see that.” Phantom covered his eyes with a hand. “Not worth-” He paused and his jaw dropped at seeing his red light. “Who the fuck-Mad!” 

“Oh.” Mad’s light was now red as well. 

Chase slipped away, knowing that it meant either Dark or Wilford was hiding somewhere and had gotten Mad and Phantom. He still had Jackie and Anti running around, or at least he assumed so since if one of them had gotten out, he would have heard them. 

“Mother fucker!”

And there goes Anti. 

Chase was wondering how he hadn’t seen Jackie yet. He wasn’t the most…stealthy Septiceye with how much he likes to run and jump and climb around. 

At the thought of climbing, Chase looked up and chuckled. He found Jackie sitting on top of one of the foam walls and the way his head was tilted meant he had eyes on one of the remaining Ipliers. 

“Got’cha Dark!” Jackie laughed in victory. “Ah, damn it!” Chase didn’t need to see anything to know that Wilford got Jackie.

It was now a showdown between Chase and Wilford. 

“Oh, Chase~” Wilford sang with a chuckle. 

“So not creepy,” Chase said to himself and sank down, sneaking between some of the tighter spaces between foam chunks, knowing Wilford wouldn’t be able to do the same. He had to slap a hand over his mouth to stop the sound of surprise from coming out when Wilford was suddenly on top of one of the foam blocks beside him. 

“Where are you?” Wilford was singing again as he looked around. 

“Right here!” Chase laughed and shot Wilford.

“Green team wins.” A voice said through the speaker and cheers broke out from most of the other Egos. 

“I did even think you’d go for low.” Wilford helped Chase out of the space and hoisted him up, sitting him on his shoulder. “Round one goes to Chase!” 

“Chase! Chase! Chase!” The chant from his teammates had Chase feeling bright and warm. 

He really loved the chaotic family he had.

Maybe RWDE gets its reputation because so much of it is deeply toxic and bigoted, and blatantly so to people who don't obsessively hate the show.

Condemn that on your own blog, show me a link, and then come back. Also condemn the fact that Kerry Shawcross literally said that they used Ironwood's new black prosthetic to symbolize his loss of humanity. Also, show me where you've criticized things like people saying Ironwood should lose his prosthetics so he'll be 'helpless' as comeuppance for his mistakes. Show me where you've called out people hypersexualizing the women in RW/BY in their fanarts, because that ran rampant in y'alls tags for awhile. Show me where you've called out the person who said my sister was being 'ableist against herself' for having seen some of her own Autistic traits reflected in Penny, who told her that Penny obviously hadn't been enough of a person to actually have character traits, so my Autistic sister was being ableist to suggest they shared similarities. Show me where you've called out the people who misuse and vilify terms like 'narcissist' and 'psycho' and use them to just mean 'bad person' when that's literally ableist. Show me where you've called out the person who made a post saying that the RW/BY fandom was no longer accepting criticism and then when people (including my younger sister) said that was dumb, they called everyone cunts. Fucking say something about all that, because from where I've standing, all you care about is what you think you can use in order to excuse the fact that you're attacking people on the internet for daring to say something bad about the content you like that you were too sensitive to see. If you actually did care about these issues, you'd be calling out the bad in the content of RW/BY, calling out the blatantly horrible actions of the company or some of the writers, and also calling out the horrible behavior of the fandom. And you'd be doing that openly on your own blog. You heard I was sent death and rape threats and the only thing you have to say about that was 'well maybe people don't like RW/DE for a reason.' Ummmmm??? You think you have a moral highground??? XD

ALSO: Bring receipts, friend. Tell me how I'm being bigoted instead of just throwing that around with no backing. Was it when I said that the two white writers Miles and Kerry shouldn't have made an allegory for real life racism that centered around taking down the bad freedom fighters who are selfishly using the cause for terrorism instead of, you know, fighting the system that oppresses the Faunus? Was it when I said that Whitey McWhiteWhite Schnee should've at the least apologized for her anti-Faunus bigotry and that it wasn't cute to say 'Blake is discriminated against by people treating her like an animal' and then having the writers do things like having a friend/future love interest lead her around with a laser pointer and never addressing that as bad? Was it when I said that writing badge carrying law enforcement officers and glorifying them as paragons of virtue and then doing things like making the fact that the Ace Ops answer to authority rather than just themselves part of why they're bad but Team RWBY isn't? Was it when I said that there should have been queer rep in the main cast by now and that it's annoying as a queer woman to be continually told to 'just wait' despite the lack of censor and the fact that the writers have been promising main character rep since like volume two? Was it when I said that MKEK needed to do better with their disabled representation than several villains, two side characters who wound up getting benched with every main character forgetting their existence and Yang having had such a small amount of screen time in volume four only to be written by the entirely able-bodied writers to say that her prosthetic was just extra? Was it when I said that it was sus as hell that the first black woman in a position of power was killed within five minutes of screen time? Was it when I said that a group of majority male writers specifically purposefully writing a story where a young girl was written to go through tons of shit like getting her bodily autonomy ripped away from her and then having her body forcibly removed/changed her without consent (consent under threat of death isn't consent,) only to beg a man to kill her as her supposed only choice she'd ever made despite having clearly made choices before then was a pretty fucking big red flag? Literally, tell me how you think I'm bigoted, and if it's something like 'you're obsessed with Ironwood' (I'm not, he's not even a blorbo,) or "You hate that girls are allowed to be powerful" (untrue, as I actively want the girl characters to be more powerful,) or that I'd be happy if the men were in charge (again untrue, as I actively complain about Jaune and Oscar and even Ironwood getting so much screen time) then just save it.

Also, last point I'm gonna make, but if you really think I'm obsessed with this show, you've got a big storm coming. I've been thinking more about Jack and Davey from the Broadway Musical version of Newsies than I've been thinking about RW/BY. I've been thinking more about the DCOM Descendants Universe more than I've been thinking about RW/BY. You literally get such a tiny snippet of my life, and then think somehow that it's... All I think about. And it's just more proof of how actually disconnected from reality you are.

Get some guts, my dear pal. Get some guts, go touch grass, get well soon, hope you stop simping for Miles 'She's only sixteen' Luna enough to actually realize your show is deeply problematic.

this blog is an attempt at writing aemond in a very novel - based way. he's cruel , a loser , narcissist , definitely a misogynist etc. he kills his poor nephew because he wants to kill him, it wasn't an accident. despite this, i'm interested in writing a very nuanced character who does bad things bc he feels entitled to it , as well as stepping away from the way media always needs a reason for a character to do bad things. sometimes there is no rhyme or reason. if you don't like that, then this blog may not be for you. <3

with all that said, i do think aemond serves cunt. he has a lot of qualities that i like and want to portray / really love the idea of his position within his families dynamics. i'm going to try talking about all his cool and cunty qualities a lot here without erasing the bad.

Julia 100% deserves to be TBS champ, and Skye has been wrestling non-stop great matches for a while now - mad props to both of them!

I agree with you on that nasty anon being, most likely, a toxic Aemond stan posing as team black but I think it needs to be said that there are some nasty black stans out there who hate Aemond with a passion and who, by extension, also take it out on Helaemond and Helaena specifically, calling her names, bland and how she and the ship are only a self-insert for us plus countless other stupid arguments. I've also seen on some of their blogs the same Daeron discourse anon was spewing as well as the GRRM being involved with S2 writing thing as proof that Aemond will finally be portrayed as his book counterpart which further means that Helaemond will never be a thing. Maybe, maybe not, in any case most helaemonds know the ship in just a show only thing that may very well not happen if the writers choose so. Either way I hope that person, whoever they are, gets a life and stops harassing other people online. I also hope you're okay considering the amount of hate you've been constantly getting on this blog, please don't let the haters succeed into bullying you off this platform.

oh yeah, aemond and helaena definitely also get hate from team black stans, that much i know, and especially since i spend a bit of time on twitter too

however most of the hate i've seen from team black stans when it comes to helaena and aemond is aimed separately, rather than necessarily at helaemond itself. for example, some say helaena is bland, boring and definitely did not deserve to get dreamfyre and then not use her. there's a lot of grief about her claiming rhaena's dragon. aemond is usually insulted and interpreted as some "cheap version of daemon" and how he's actually just a loser, etc.

but this hate is usually character centric from what i saw and there's plenty of team black stans who don't care that much about aemond or helaena, but they don't hate them either, and by virtue of being team black, they're also more relaxed about the incest side of the targaryens, so there's many who actually did pick up on all the helaemond hints and wouldn't mind it

however i don't doubt that there's probably black stans who hate helaemond as a ship as well

my conclusion of this being a green aemond stan is specifically based on me having knowledge of how i post my posts and tag my posts, who follows me, etc. and certainly most helaemond vitrol actually comes from fellow greenies. and, sadly, for some time now, i've noticed some lowkey helaena hate too. i say lowkey because well, as a team black stan, not caring / disliking helaena wouldn't be a huge shock, but a greenie? disliking helaena of all characters? mostly if not surely over ships? that would be hard to justify

honestly so sick of grrm discussion.... both team black stans and some green anti helaemonds use grrm's "comeback" (he was always there, but okay) as some sure fix for all of their grievences with the plot. some say it means the end of helaemond, others say it means the end of rhaenicent, others say he will make everyone like in the book. it is tiring, especially since it's being used as a "gotcha" against people having different opinions or expecting other things based on what they've seen so far
