TAG GAME: EIGHT SHOWS TO GET TO KNOW ME
I was tagged by @santabarbara-skies (thank you!!!) so how could I resist doing this?
• let’s get the obvious one out of the way, Star Wars The Clone Wars (I could list most of the SW shows tbf but let’s stick with the one that I’m the most obsessed with) • Stargate SG-1 - my beloved, my first introduction to scifi, and a show that has influenced me a lot througout my entire life, still holds up • Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - I had a hardcore anime/mange phase at one point, this is one of the shows I still love so much • Arcane - IT IS SO GODDAMN PRETTY (I’ve wasted so many hours in that game so I’m very glad this show exists to compensate for some of the loss of sanity I experienced when I played) • Game of Thrones - I don’t wanna talk about it • 9-1-1, a recent new obsession • Dark - such a weird and confusing but also amazing show • Koko Suomi Leipoo, the Finnish version of The Greath British Bake Off. I love cooking and baking competition shows ffff
There’s honestly so many shows I could’ve chosen, I have so many favorites and so many shows I rewatch again and again and again because they’re just so good, but for this list I tried to choose some that I feel have really affected me or show different sides of me. I also cannot for the life of me just list stuff, I have to explain EVERYTHING.
Aaaaand I’m also awkward enough not to dare tag anyone, but please, anyone who wants to do this, do it!!

Maybe the real reason I'm not all that bothered with romance as I've lived it is that nobody actually has bothered to actually... try? Like, even if it may not end in romantic love I'd obviously want to build a life with someone who dances with me, not like club dancing, but a waltz or something. Of course it's easier to love when someone is willing to bake with you, or write you poems yk?
Obviously, I'm still on the edge on whether I'm actually aromantic or not, but i think I can't know until I've experienced actual care put into it. The silent ways of saying "hey, i see you. I care for you. I hope you see me too."
That's also the kind of friend I'm trying to be. It's not always easy, but damn it's well-worth the time when i do manage.

Hugh Bonneville promises 'new elements' and 'thrills and spills' in Downton Abbey 3
The actor tells Yahoo UK that he thinks the new film is the "best" of the franchise
Downton Abbey made some big changes on the big screen with 2022's A New Era, but Robert Crawley star Hugh Bonneville assures Yahoo UK that the upcoming third film will be even bigger and better than anything that has come before it.
Speaking with Yahoo UK for a Role Recall interview, the actor shares that the film feels like a "lovely coming together of people". Fans will be rivetted by what is to come for Robert and the Crawley family because the film is full of "spills and thrills" according to Bonneville, who took a break from production to promote his new ITV series Douglas is Cancelled.
"For my character, I think the usual [can be expected], which is that he's a sort of dinosaur trying to be led into the future reluctantly, and then eventually he stumbles forward a bit," Bonneville teases.
"So as always, there's that rhythm of things changing with glacial slowness, and Robert finally accepting that things [are changing] — it's time to move the story on, so to speak. It's got the usual tropes, if you like, of thrills and spills in a very Downtown [sic] way, which means spilling a tea cup pretty much!
"People who've watched the show over the years and have loved it will miss Maggie Smith's presence. She doesn't step out of the shower and it's all been a dream, she is gone.
"But, I think there's so much warmth and fun to enjoy, and new elements as well — which I won't spoil — that I think it'll certainly be the best iteration of the film versions yet."
The third Downton Abbey film will see the original cast return including Michelle Dockery, Elizabeth McGovern, Jim Carter and Laura Carmichael, while A New Era's Dominic West will also reprise his role as Guy Dexter. They will be joined by a host of new characters played by Paul Giamatti, Joely Richardson, Simon Russell Beale, and Alessandro Nivola.
Details of the story have not yet been revealed, but Bonneville's positivity about it seems like a good sign. The actor also spoke of how it still surprises him that the franchise has become as beloved as it has since the show first premiered in 2010 because it didn't originally seem like it would.
"It never ceases to amaze me, it did when it first started in 2010 and here we are, 14 years later, we're making a third movie," he explains. "At least one of our producers said, 'well, it's never gonna last beyond seven episodes anyway so don't lose too much sleep about this', and here we are all those years later still together.
"What's been really interesting is there's a whole new generation of people watching it and still finding it engaging, and also what's been rather touching, particularly over the pandemic, [was] when people were stuck at home and they revisited a show that had finished five years before.
"Each of us have had lots of letters from people saying: 'I used to watch it with my Gran', or 'my son who is now married', or 'my husband, who's now passed on', or whatever. It had an emotional resonance for the period of time that it was on, and people find comfort in it, and revisited it like a warm bath.
"I'm not complaining because it's been a wonderful part of my life and we're filming the third film at the moment, it's a lovely coming together of people I care deeply about, and that's just the fictional characters."

Give me more morally gray characters ...
Let me interrupt my regular program for a brief rant about Downton Abbey and Thomas Barrow… well, not really regular as I've been too busy to watch anything with subtitles for the past few weeks. Instead, I passively binged on Downton Abbey while working.
I love morally gray characters, be it Tantai Jin from TTEOTM or Spike from Buffy. One of my favorite characters is Thomas Barrow from Downton Abbey. (Spoiler Alert, TW // suicide, homophobia, conversion therapy)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thomas is everything I need in a character ... unhinged, angsty and gay.
I loved him from the first rude line to the last. He starts out as a delightful troublemaker with a cruel streak born of fear, hurt and the desire to be respected, fit in and belong. He is, as Baxter understands so well, his own worst enemy, having perfected self-sabotage over the years.
A supporting character for most of the show, the footman-turned-butler's story is usually prioritized over his character development - meaning the writers know where they want him to end up each season, even if it contradicts previous characterizations. This leaves the audience with a character who can be hard to follow at times.
The writing really got on my nerves at times. From conveniently forgetting his medical training when they want him to despair during his job hunt, to pulling any kind of cunning out of him when they want him to appear changed (and depressed), Thomas is always what the showrunners need him to be, but not necessary what would make sense for his character. I'm still annoyed that they made him go through medical torture in the form of conversion therapy and a suicide attempt, and then glossed over these traumatic incidents in favor of boring other storylines. Or how they portrayed his war injury as an act of cowardice rather than desperation.
What I love about him is that he was still a coherent character who remained a morally gray character (the last film aside, because they sort of forgot to give him any of his character traits back). Thomas would still lash out when he was angry or hurt, would still manipulate others for his own gain, and would still feel wronged by the world. Once the world has brought him to his knees, he understands that he has only himself to blame, and he tries to do better - which has its ups and downs. The Thomas we see in the final and in the films still wants to belong, is still a desperate romantic, but he is also so incredibly insecure in a rather endearing way.
Younger Thomas was rather stiff but dignified, trying to appear immaculate, trying to hide the fact that he felt he was anything but. Once the mask comes off, he goes from being a reluctant cat to being full of nervous puppy energy. As a neurodivergent person who has recently struggled with not being able to masks well, I can relate a little too much to this version of Thomas.
Most characters, that start out as villains, either change completely (like Tantai Jin), their behavior will be excused (like Mo Ran or Spike) or they sacrifice themselves for the greater good to redeem themselves (like Spike). Thomas stays more on less morally gray. We understand the reasons better, why he would lash out at others, and we can feel sorry for him. He had a harder life than most, but that still does not undo the harm he has done to others.
All in all, the last film was a bit of a disappointment for me, mainly because a lot of the characters felt a bit off. I had to watch the film twice to get behind the romance with Guy Dexter. What Guy meets is Thomas desire to be respected as a person, to be seen as worthwhile, to escape the life as decorative wallpaper and to finally have a romantic relationship with someone that is rather enthusiastic about him. A lot of their relationships seems to have developed off-screen, based on Guy knowing who Carson was during his proposal and understanding how uncertain Thomas still feels about his role in the household. I wish them well - but not at the expense of Thomas being excluded from the rumoured 3rd film. I hope it takes place in the USA and we get to see him again!
I really wish we would see more morally gray characters like this, even through a quick look into the fandom of Downton Abbey shows me, that not everybody can handle it.

WOAH WOAH, I WAS ON A GAMING BURN-OUT AND ENDED UP GIVING BINARY STAR HERO A TRY AND ENDED UP PLAYING IT THE WHOLE NIGHT AND IM IN LOVE???? Like, what an amazingly written game???? The art style and aesthetic of the game??? The way you wrote Ray's character is absolutely beautiful to me and just so interesting to see his views, personality, and mindset and how his experiences shaped him! IN ADDITION HIS CHARACTER DESIGN IS PEAK, I LOVE HIS NOSE, I LOVE HIS EARS I LOVE HIS EYEBAGS, AND I LOVE THE SEVERAL MOLES SCATTERED ACROSS HIS FACE. ALSO, I LOVE THE WORLD YOU MADE!! I ALSO LOOOVVVEEE The small details, the things I didn't realize until I replayed the game, such as his expression changing everso slightly when the MC thought about being selfish for themselves to get Ray's name. I COULD GUSH ABOUT THIS GAME FOREVER MAN, YOU DID SUCH AN MARVELLOUS JOB WITH EVERYTHING IN THIS GAME IM BLOWN AWAY ^-^ 💕
Now that I got my word gush and love out of the way first, I wanted to ask if it is okay to use Ray's cgi from the game as a pfp (with credit)? Also, does Ray watch any types of shows or movies, if he ever has the time too? What kind of movies/tv shows would he be into?
Thankyou so soo much for all of the kind words 😭😭💕💖 it really means more than you could know. I'm so glad you enjoyed it and were able to notice all of the love and effort I put into it 🥺💕.
YES you can use Ray's photo as your pfp, you don't have to give me credit either 😊 just if anyone asks point them towards the game.
Ray enjoys some movies and shows. He really likes cooking shows that are calming. He generally prefers documentaries or dramas. He isn't so much into action, and he would rather pull teeth than watch anything superhero related. Even though Ray enjoys watching movies & shows with MC, he tends to be really exhausted after a workday and will often accidentally fall asleep midway through.
Shows Ray Likes (in no order):
Anthony Bourdain's Parts unknown
The X-files
Madmen
Startrek
Downton Abbey
Great British bakeoff
Masterchef
Movies Ray likes (in no order):
Interstellar
The Green Knight
The Arrival
Annihilation
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
The shape of water
Blade Runner
The Menu
Alien
2001: A Space Odyssey

Hi Curator!
I love popping in to see the new polls! Just a question, not sure if you have answered this one but I couldn't find an answer. What made you interested in Historical fashion? Was it always a hobby? You always have so much information and detail to provide, I love it!
Thank you!
hi dear anon! 💕
thank you so much for this lovely message and this super fun question! ☺️☺️
to be honest, I'm not sure if I could point to any one thing that made me interested in historical fashion. I really enjoyed American Girl dolls when I was younger (my favorite was Felicity ☺️), and those are definitely focused around interpreting history/historical fashion, so that could certainly be one reason! 💖💖
I also watched a lot of period pieces with incredible costuming (or at least costumes that I thought were really pretty) during my formative years, so that probably influenced me too. some notable examples are:
The Young Victoria (2009) – the gold dress with the red roses that she wears at the ball had me in a chokehold as a pre-teen
Pride and Prejudice (1995) – regency fashion isn't always my favorite, but this series is just sooooooooo good and it's one of my comfort shows, and I just feel like the costuming and the whole vibe of the series is very lovely and immersive (also not to start discourse but the 1995 version is the superior adaptation, I know that the 2005 film has folks on this website in a chokehold but the 1995 version is far better I have to speak my truth 😤😤)
Downton Abbey (2010-2015) – yeah I was and still am a Downton Abbey girlie, y'all. I watched the first couple seasons on dvds from the the library and I think I caught up with it "live" so to speak in the third season. I've seen the whole series twice now and I just love it. and the costumes are EXQUISITE 😍😍 Mary's turquoise and gold dress is absolutely [incomprehensible screaming]
btw I'm putting images of the gold ball gown and turquoise/gold dress below the cut in case you want to see ☺️☺️
I think the more I saw of fashion history, the more entranced by it I became, and I just wanted to learn more! I'm also a huge fan of many of the historical costume youtubers like Bernadette Banner, and I watched a lot of videos like that in undergrad just to expand my knowledge on the subject
plus, running this blog has helped me learn so much, and I've come to appreciate some styles that I used to not like as much! I'm still definitely not an expert, but I love learning about things that bring me joy, and historical fashion is definitely one of those things! 🥰🥰
thank you so much again for this lovely question and for giving me an excuse to ramble about my love for fashion history! ☺️💕 and now I'll turn the question to you and anyone else who wants to answer: what made you interested in historical fashion and/or what brought you to the blog?

hiii about your tags on this post - I was thinking of the deleted scene from S1 or whenever:
Tumblr media
I actually can't think of any other times he talks about his mother? This one seems to be in past tense, but which one were you referring to?
Oh I was referring to the conversation between him and Matthew in the trenches near the end of S2E1.
Tumblr media
THOMAS: What would my mother say, me entertaining the future Earl of Grantham to tea?
MATTHEW: War has a way of distinguishing between the things that matter and the things that don’t.
I think this is the only scene where Thomas mentioned his mother on screen. I got the impression that he meant if she heard that her son was serving tea to a future Earl in such intimacy, she would be proud of him. The fact that past tense was used here could be because it was a hypothetical scenario (because his mother didn’t know this, and he didn’t plan to tell her in writing either), rather than because she was dead by that time.
So from my first watch I just thought his mother was still out there alive, but they didn’t really keep in touch. She didn’t care enough about her son, and Thomas had long given up on attempting to get her attention (even when he was about to die in the bloody war!).
Then I read about the S1E4 deleted scene later with this impression in mind and I just thought he talked about his mother as she used to be when he and his sibling(s) were children. Past tense was used again because he was talking about how things were in the past, that she merely attended to her children when they were ill while neglecting them at other times. She was not likely to do the same in 1913(?) when her children had all grown up (or so Thomas thought).
But now I think of it again and the use of past tense can also be explained by the simple fact that his mother is dead. Or should I say I was always confused, but I’m more inclined to believe she was still alive as it would be much more interesting. To think about how Thomas was perhaps distancing himself from his family (not just his father) quite actively by not contacting them, while imagining what they might think of him if they knew what he was doing now. It’s kind of like hedgehogs craving for warmth. He’s afraid to get too close to them and get hurt, but he wants their love so much it makes him miserable.
But again I am never sure about the state of Thomas’ mother. Perhaps it’s purposely made ambiguous because Julian Fellowes wasn’t sure when he wrote the script and wanted to leave it undecided for any future plot points. One thing I’m sure is that I should’ve paid more attention in English classes haha. But at least we discover that his mother could be an interesting topic to discuss too, who would have guessed? Please, tell me what you think :)
Oh, I’ve also found a similar discussion on Downton Abbey Wiki. You can check it out if you’re interested.

watched the Hand Flex and Downton Abbey one too many times and my hand slipped and here have some A/B/O bodyguard AU
He liked holding your hand, even if he knew he shouldn’t.
Even if he will never admit that he does.
There are plenty of things he likes that he will never admit to. Like how quiet you are in the mornings, curled up in the armchair with Princess in your lap, your fingers in her fluffy white coat as you gaze out into the sea, letting yourself slowly wake by listening to the waves crash onshore. Or how flustered you get when he makes one of his inappropriate jokes, your thighs clenching as you mutter about how you “already know that … that kind of information, Mr Vizsla, thankyouverymuch" and rush into your bedroom, pretending like he cannot hear the sighs and whimpers that echo in there at night.
He can’t help himself around you. Teasing you, making you stutter as he talks about things no one should ever talk about with the sheltered, beloved Omega princess. It makes his heart (and cock) ache to think about all the things he can show you, about all the pain and suffering he can spare you from during your heats, locked away at an abandoned country mansion so no can see you in your vulnerable state. (But you let him, and he tries not to think about it too much, the fact that you trust him enough to smell you during the height of your heat.)
And no matter how much he may want to convince himself that teasing you is just his way of making this security job fun, that the banter is the only way to endure this job, he cannot deny the way his thoughts drift to you in the dead of night, wondering whether you think of him the way he thinks of you.
There, in that space between waking and dreaming, he thinks of the few moments he gets to touch you. When you were driven to some gala or dinner or that dreadful engagement and you got out of the car and he got to help you. Got to feel your hand in his as he opened the door and, just for the briefest of moments, was the only one to see you. Was the first one to see you. Shielded by the car door and his broad back you looked up at him with a genuine smile, thanking him quietly as you made sure your cleavage would not show to one.
And sometimes when the mornings are very slow and he arrives to find Princess on your lap, demanding scritches from the both of you, you pat the armrest of the chair, silently asking him to join you. He gets to sit with you then, his hand tangled with yours in the fur of your cat and you lean against him, your eyes still barely open. “Do you think I can take the day off today?” you always whisper, your head resting against his chest and his heart (always, always) racing, “I should like to test all the promises you always throw at me, alpha.”
He chuckles then, his thumb brushing over your wrist, “Not today, I am afraid, princess.”
But one day, he knows he will get to prove his worth to you.

Ok, this drives me nuts.
I love Bridgerton. And I don't love all things Regency, so before you write me off as a romance-loving Austenite (which is ALSO a perfectly valid thing to be, thankyouverymuch) just hear me out on why this take is so damn annoying.
Tumblr media
Ok. Cool. Now, you're entitled to your opinion that Bridgerton is too fluffy, too girly, and needs more "texture" (which, according to the article, should come in the form of labor, hardship, threatened financial ruin, the usual good stuff) but I want to impress upon you, firmly but politely, that if you're in the market for something gritty, you probably should turn off Bridgerton.
She compares Bridgerton to every prominent period show in this article, and consistently complains that it doesn't measure up. "Well it's not Downton Abbey!" No, no it isn't, and that's what we like about it. We aren't watching it to Learn Something. We're watching it because, for an hour or three at a time, it's really nice to forget that there's so much awful crap going on in the world, and just focus in on Penelope's up-and-down courtship with Colin or how damn cute Kate and Anthony are together.
But that isn't even the thing that bothers me the most about this article.
Why, in the year of our lord 2024, are we still perpetuating this "fluffy girly things are BRAIN CANDY" nonsense? Has Jane Austen truly taught us nothing? At the age of 12, back in the early aughts, my dad gave me a hard time for reading the Sweet Valley Twins books. He wanted me to read Pride and Prejudice, and aggressively shoved it under my nose until I finally agreed to take a look at it. I found it incomprehensible, looked it up online, and found to my immense pleasure that Jane Austen's literature was considered "popular" and "feminine" in its day -- not at all serious literature. I took my findings to my dad, who just about exploded and told me "that's not the point, it's a classic NOW, so shut up and read it."
Guys, I don't care if it was written in the 1600s or last week, pop culture is pop culture. It reflects its time. And more importantly, it shapes its time.
In the 1990s, Seinfeld aired the now-famous episode wherein the boys and Julia Louis-Dreyfus' character, Elaine, have a contest to see how long they can all go without masturbating. One of the men is out before the contest begins; of the remaining contestants, Elaine cracks first. This is now considered a bold statement, because in the 90s, women actually ENJOYING orgasms was taboo -- a concept they make sure to acknowledge within the episode itself, as the men insist women don't masturbate.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus later said of her time on Seinfeld, "We weren't trying to change the world, we were just trying to make something really funny. And that's really hard to do. And if you can do it, you CAN change the world a little bit."
Now, I don't watch Seinfeld. I hate it. I tried to watch a bit of it for Julia, bc I loved her so much in New Adventures of Old Christine, but I just couldn't get into it. but I saw the episode she's talking about, and it IS funny. Because they aren't up on a soapbox, they're just having fun, and she's a damn good comedic actress. So why am I bringing up Seinfeld in a conversation about Bridgerton? Because they're both fluff. No one is watching Seinfeld in an effort to solve the mysteries of the human condition or reflect on the nature of good and evil. It's just for fun. And so is Bridgerton.
And even if there was absolutely no value to Bridgerton besides being fun, it would still be "okay" to watch it. Because sometimes we just need fluff. But I don't think we really spend enough time thinking about just how much impact that "fluff" has on our culture.
I've seen people argue that Bridgerton DOES tackle occasional "serious" topics, and that's why it has value. I disagree. Bridgerton's value comes from the fact that it is FUN. It's easy to get into, it's easy to watch, no one is FORCING it on you, like my dad tried to do with P&P. And because it's fun, people -- YOUNG people -- are willingly watching it…
And they're seeing elderly women, women of color, and plus-size women being depicted as beautiful and desirable.
They're seeing a young, newly-married woman force herself on her husband and realizing that women also need to be taught about consent, and that a lack of sex education leads to damaged relationships.
They're seeing depictions of mental illness in the Queen Charlotte spinoff. They're seeing a man with a mental illness bare his soul to a woman he loves, and hearing her say, in no uncertain terms, that as damaged as he thinks he is, she loves him too. Unconditionally.
They're seeing queer representation in the Queen Charlotte spinoff, too. They're seeing racism and politics and medical abuse. They're seeing storylines that they'd never seek out on their own, and intentionally or not, they're learning from those stories.
Maybe it's optimistic to a fault, but I just can't stop wondering, how many young girls talked to each other about Daphne and Simon? How many plus-size women saw Penelope and Colin's sex scene and felt beautiful, felt seen, for the first time? How many people with mental illness saw Charlotte love King George and realized that they too are worthy of love? How many people heard Violet shyly tell Agatha that she misses having sex with her husband, and felt validated that, no, you don't turn 40 and stop being horny?
I sobbed my eyes out watching S3 the other night, because they captured the feeling of being unpopular and overweight so damn well. I saw my high school years reflected in Penelope's story and it broke my heart and gave me hope all at the same time. I love that they dress Violet and Agatha and Charlotte as richly as they do the younger, "hotter" leads. I love that Anthony Bridgerton goes down on Kate every fucking chance he gets. I love Bridgerton's message, however unintentional, that you don't have to be the classic Pretty Skinny Caucasian Starlet - you can be fat, old, BIPOC, disabled, outcast, anything, and still deserve and GET your happily-ever-after.
Shondaland is not trying to change the world. They're just trying to be fluffy and horny. And if they can do it, they can change the world just a little bit.

Me:
"Well, I just finished a big writing project. It was definitely a labour of love, I poured sweat, blood, and tears into it, it weighed on me for a decade and a half. I'm not feeling ready to undertake anything quite so ambitious, so let's keep my next project light. I'd really like something I don't have to take too seriously. "How about I write a story for my niece? Yes. She's only nine-and-a-half, so that will help keep me from going over-board. She loves Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and desperately wants to travel but hasn't gotten to see much of the world because her little brother isn't old enough yet. So let's write a little story about Newt as he travels the world and just have fun little adventures with cute animals together. We'll keep in simple, keep it fluffy, keep it light-hearted. We'll keep it episodic so it's easy to follow in case her attention wavers. Yes, a nice GA story, that's the ticket."
Also me:
*Reads entire Fantastic Beasts encyclopedia and catalogs where Newt would likely come across each beast geographically
*Feverishly reads The Thirteen Problems by Agatha Christie to draw inspiration on telling mysteries in short-story form
*Binge-watches the entire first season of Downton Abbey in one day to study dress and the different ways of talking between classes and age-groups at the turn of the century
*Browser search history:
How many days would it take to travel from Britain to Greece by passenger boat in 1913
What kind of toilets did passenger ships have in 1913
When did people start saying "Mum" rather than "Mama"?
Greek mythos involving the chimaera
Greece's role in WWI
History of the Balkan Wars
Assassination of King George I of Greece
Gods send help. Someone please teach me how to not take this silly little hobby seriously.

came back . opinions about period dramas ? would want to watch something lately !! but my french taste its too big to watch period dramas who arent french , you may know better than me about non - french stuff ?
Thank you for your Question
I love period dramas especially if they are historically accurate and entertaining. I like how historical dramas references real life events. Example: The Crown, The Gilded age, The Ministry of time, Downton abbey, and Maria Theresia.
The historical dramas that I would not prefer are the ones that bastardize the historical timeline, costume, and characters. Example: The Tudors, Blood, Sex, and Royalty, The White Princess, and the Spanish princess. (The siesta part made me cringe) They made Margaret Beaufort and Elizabeth of york evil. The White Princess. Her affair with Richard 🤢. I hated when historical drama put modern music into a period drama and movie. ( It can work if it is instrumental and it does not take you away from the period to much example: Bridgerton) but If said music is so modern that it takes you away from the historical setting it just feels wrong Example: Gladiator 2 (A movie that did not need a sequel)
I hate it in period dramas if they decide to insert a 21st century feminist character. In a time period where women are barely educated about their rights. Don't get me wrong there are historical women who are ahead of their time and made great contributions example: Harriet Tubman, Risa Parks, Joan of Arc, Anne Frank, Catherine the Great of Russia, Maria Theresa of Austria, Mariana of Austria, and Marie Curie. There are characters I see in historical dramas that carries beliefs such as refusing to marry, A Mary sue, and I do not need any man trope. These tropes often make these characters annoying and unrealistic.
There is a Spanish Movie about Carlos III reign mainly focusing on esqhilache time as prime minister. Isabel was in the movie. she was amazing! My favorite scene is her discussion with esqhilache. Carlos III in the movie is so cute. I love him.

The Television Academy watching Carrie Coon deliver one of the greatest performances of the decade: No
The Television Academy watching Carrie Coon act cunty in a soap opera: Yes
no because literally WHAT GOES ON.
gilded age mutuals look away if you must but COME ON. LETS BE SERIOUS. i looooooove gilded age i love nothing television i love this stupid soapy show about my beautiful princess with a disorder and the entire town who hates her. HOWEVER. you (the academy) need to look me in the EYE and tell me carrie’s performance as bertha russell is the best she’s ever done. WHAT ARE YOU SAYING. i LOVE bertha. but she is NOT the crazy girl of all time. she is NOT the bravest girl on earth. she is NOT nora durst.
“ace you have to think about the strength of schedule” THE LEFTOVERS WAS ONLY EVER NOMINATED FOR ONE EMMY. AND IT WAS FOR ANN DOWD GUEST ACTRESS IN THE MOST POWERFUL MAN IN THE WORLD (and his identical twin brother). LIKE THATS A WHOLE OTHER CAN OF WORMS. the show was never nominated. the writing was never nominated. the directing was never nominated. i have no love for the man but justin theroux was never nominated?? CARRIE?!?! WAS ?!?! NEVER ?!?!? NOMINATED ??!?!,!?!?! after the performance of HER lifetime, MY lifetime, every single person who ever has or ever will live’s lifetime???
do not click the read more unless you want me to complain about strength of schedule for each season. i get very specific i’m sorry.
SEASON 1 - 67th primetime emmy awards
BEST DRAMA
game of thrones season 5 (WINNER)
better call saul season 1
downton abbey season 5
homeland season 4
house of cards season 3
mad men season 7 part 2
orange is the new black season 2
haven’t watched house of cards or homeland (to be fair i DID watch homeland s5 for miranda otto like five years ago), haven’t watched oitnb in YEARS, haven’t gotten to mad men season 7 OR downton season 5 yet. HOWEVER. i do not care. take downton s5 off from there. mind u i bought the downton collectors boxset two weeks ago i have all the dvds i have a stupid ass bell TAKE IT OFF AND PUT THE LEFTOVERS ON THERE!!!! or take homeland season 4 off idc what happened on it but why is tracy letts a main character on a show nominated YOUR WIFE IS BEING ROBBED TRACY!!! DEFEND HER!!! wait i just realized i hadn’t even mentioned game of thrones season 5 being the winner. i can’t say anything at this point i just have to laugh.
lead actor jon hamm won for mad men again idk what happens in s7 i haven’t even finished season 1. as a newsroom and better call saul enjoyer i will not advocate for either of them to be removed so get rid of kevin spacey and put theroux up there. would carrie have been nominated as lead for s1? i think she’d be supporting no? in which case take emilia clarke off for game of thrones I’M SORRY I’M NOT HATING BUT WE NEED TO BE REALISTIC HERE. IT IS SEASON 5 GAME OF THRONES. YOU ARE NOT OUTDOING NORA DURST. supporting actor christopher get your ass up there!! jonathan banks get your ass down here. i will sound like a jonathan banks hater in the rest of this post and i’m not we just need to be serious here as a collective. mike ehrmantraut could never do the leftovers. sorry. (jim carter nom for carson on downton is actually for me personally which i think is beautiful).
mother’s mercy winning for best directing AND best writing is insane. game of thrones we will never forgive you for many things. (unrelated how did bcs five-o get a best writing nom and not any other episode of season 1. mike lovers have too much power in our society. we need to kill them.)
SEASON 2 AKA THE STRONGEST SEASON OF TELEVISION YOU CAN EVER WATCH IN YOUR LIFE - 68th primetime emmy awards
BEST DRAMA
game of thrones season 6 (winner)
the americans season 4
better call saul season 2
downton abbey season 6
homeland season 5
house of cards season 4
mr. robot season 1
AGAIN. GAME OF THRONES WINNING BEST DRAMA LIKE YOU ARE NOOOOT SERIOUS PEOPLE. YOU ARE JOKING. americans and bcs <33 downton season 6 i’ve heard awful things about you. homeland season 5 HEY that’s the season i watched!! yea get rid of game of thrones and put the leftovers in there and MAKE THE LEFTOVERS WIN. IMMEDIATELY.
lead actor idk get rid of kevin spacey again. lead actress tatiana maslany i know you were working overtime im so sorry unfortunately i’m taking this away from you. please understand i’ll give it back to you for a different year but this one is carrie’s. btw im replacing claire danes on homeland in terms of nominations. supporting actress i cannot believe i am taking this away from maggie smith but we are giving this to either ann dowd, regina king, or amy brenneman. MIND YOU REGINA KING WON FOR SUPPORTING IN A LIMITED SERIES SO I THINK WE SHOULD GIVE HER THE DOUBLE WHAMMY but if you want to argue its ann dowd i will not fight you. also get maura tierney off of that nominations list NOT HATING ON MAURA simply hating on the affair. we need to be serious. supporting actor i’m taking down jonathan banks and kit harrington sorry putting up christopher eccelston and kevin carroll. i’ll let the academy decide who wins but it IS between them two. no one else. sorry.
battle of the bastards winning both writing and directing again hey guys not sure if i’ve mentioned this before but i hate game of thrones the television show that cannot hurt me and isn’t real!!! and also THAT SEASON WAS NOT GOOD. directing wise we’re getting rid of the door for game of thrones and writing wise we’re getting rid of battle of the bastards CONGRATULATIONS THE LEFTOVERS SEASON TWO EPISODE EIGHT INTERNATIONAL ASSASSIN YOU ARE THE GRAND PRIZE WINNER!!! THE BEST EPISODE OF TELEVISION EVER!!!! YOU DID IT!!! YOU HAVE NOW WON BEST DIRECTING AND BEST WRITING YIPPEE!!!!
SEASON 3 (my beloved) - 69th primetime emmy awards
BEST DRAMA
the handmaid’s tale season 1 (winner)
better call saul season 3
the crown season 1
house of cards season 5
stranger things season 1
this is us season 1
westward season 1
sorry handmaid’s tale you are not keeping the win. you can keep the nom i guess. get rid of stranger things for me. anyways the leftovers season three you ARE THE FATHER!!! (but also hiii better call saul season 3)
lead actor i like sterling k brown so he’s keeping the win but once again goodbye spacey and theroux enjoy your nomination. lead actress elisabeth not only are you not getting the win i might take the nomination from you too. sorry. carrie coon needs it more. we need to be on the right side of history. supporting actress ann dowd won which i can’t BE TOO UPSET ABOUT but im taking millie bobby brown’s nomination away and giving it to amy brenneman like i’m sorry but we need to be serious here. supporting actor i’m taking jonathan banks and mandy patinkin down and putting up christopher eccelston and kevin carroll. OBVIOUSLY.
AND OF COURSE ANN DOWD IS WINNING FOR BEST GUEST ACTRESS LIKE. alexis bledel sweetie i’m sorry but that award is not yours. but please take a picture with alison wright for me i would enjoy that.
best directing went to handmaid’s tale offred. i’m sure it was a good ep. anyways taking that down and taking stranger things ep 1 down and putting both most powerful man in the world and book of nora. book of nora is winning probably. (also taking down bcs witness and putting up chicanary. like come on here folks). best writing ALSO went to offred yea sorry. it can stay up i guess i’m just taking down stranger things ep 1 and putting up book of nora which will be winning. (notice how chicanery was properly nominated here).
well that’s all from me!!! so happy that everything i just wrote actually happened!! i can’t believe the leftovers won so many emmys BUT IT WAS WELL DESERVED!!

HI ISABEL i was thinking abt ur beechey boys + peglar/armitage extended cinematic universe while doing my laundry earlier (<- normal guy behaviour) and now i'm curious if u've thought of any actors/face claims for them – beechey boys especially bc we don't even have terror versions to use lol 👀🎤
HI GENEEEE 🖤 this is interesting.... honestly i've never been very good at fan casting shit because my default is always just going "x character should be played by riz ahmed" which ummmm would not work here i fear.
anyways everyone watch out there's gonna be mummy images below the cut
okay i really don't care about actors enough to do this well ummm LMAO johnny bertchtold YOU🫵🏻 are now john shaw torrington!! except johnny's way too tall and also ripped to be jorts.... i will say tho, as annoying as the john torrington/david young erasure is in the amc show, they did kind of nail it with alfie kingsnorth... now that's a skinny blonde bitch who looks half dead! he's got the right big round eyes + prominent cheekbones as jorts
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
if we could get some mutton chops and the uniform of a royal marine private onto ferdinand kingsley i think he'd be fantastic as william braine..... actually now that i'm looking at this i kind of feel like a genius for this one LMAO??
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
john hartnell is a little harder because i've already decided in my heart that this daguerreotype is 100% undeniably him even though the chances of it are actually probably very low. in actuality. but i have tried to match up the daguerreotype "hartnell" with the mummy hartnell and i do think it's a super close match.... i just wish mr. daguerreotype hadn't tucked his hair over his ear so i could compare the shape of john's ear.... but anyways there is actually one bg dude from terror amc who i have also kind of decided could be jarts!!! he was one of the dudes who voted to stay on terror and die there instead of out on the shale before everyone abandoned ship... he's got the right haircut for it <3 but also i think rob james-collier could be kind of a slay for jartnell if we can get him back to his downton abbey prime
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and then thomas morgan hasn't really made his debut in the beechey boys cinematic universe (yet. chapter two still cooking......) and we also haven't exhumed HIM so this is really just like throwing a dart and calling it good. i did draw a little version of him here tho . so do with this as you will i guess. me when i'm just making up whatever the fuck. he should be kind of sickly looking as well though because my dude was going THROUGH it (+ he had one million pre existing conditions) before he died.
Tumblr media
and for like... henry & thomas theyre much more nebulous in my brain..... maybe i'll try and draw them later!? i did do fanart here of henry tho but i fear it's got a heavy amc casting influence on what he looked like.
real life facts: thomas (5'9") is 2 inches taller than henry (5'7"), henry probably had broad/strong arms and shoulders due to climbing around in the rigging for his whole career, both of them had brown hair, and thomas was older than henry enough that he was probably starting to get salt-and-pepper grey during the miserable stressful parts of the expedition. henry's id papers describe his complexion as "sallow" and based on how many captains said he had a shitty/indifferent/bored attitude while working leads me to believe my king had chronic resting bitch face + looked vaguely exhausted and pale and unwell even when he was healthy.
also in my heart amc nailed it with giving thomas curly hair tho... charlie kelly is cute to meeeeee... unfortunately he isn't 40 years old enough. no source no facts anyways i just want to believe in curly girl armitage supremacy. ALSOOOO in my heart (again) henry has sailor tattoos-- HOLD FAST on his knuckles for good luck in the ropes + two swallows on his chest under each collarbone to mark his 10,000th mile at seas. i forgot what i was talking about. i think do think k*vin g*thrie's face was honestly too conventionally attractive for henry though. i just know my man was mid as fuck. frown lines from scowling, ink stains on his fingers at all times, never worn sunblock ever, thinks splashing water on his face counts as moisturizing etc.... MY henry peter peglar is pretty weather-beaten and looks like a mean cunt and sometimes he snarls at people like a badly trained dog. amen.
