now im curious. what are your favorite and least favorite g4 episodes, and in a similar vein, your favorite and least favorite g4 characters

i won’t elaborate on all of them because it’s just like. way too much lol there’s so many episodes in characters but LET’S GO

favorite characters: TWILIEEE, I like all of the mane 6 but she’s my girlie, the royal sisters, trixie, maud, sunset, starlight as a villain (she should’ve stayed a bad guy she’s so FUN! a villain who’s power is her words)

least favorite: neighsay, star swirl (the pillars are all just boring as hell honestly), the wonderbolts (seriously? why do they all suck?), “reformed” starlight, maud’s Sheldon cooper boring boyfriend, daring do (i don’t care for the implications of her character), discord (sort of? in canon, because i adore him conceptually and also occasionally. he’s so fun when he’s not awful

not a strong attachment but yona is also really cute, i just think her design is ridiculously adorable and also love her va’s delivery. very funny

For episodes, there’s quite a few but I’ll try and limit myself per season! There’s are ones that I just find the most comfort and enjoyment out of, I like other episodes but these are what really stand out.

Favorite episodes:

season one: ticket master, look before you sleep, winter wrap up, suited for success (a fantastic episode that really made mlp stand out!), and best night ever

season two: return of harmony & canterlot wedding, lesson zero, hearth’s warming eve, hurricane fluttershy,

season three: sleepless in ponyville, wonderbolt academy, magical mystery cure

season four: pinkie pride, it ain’t easy being breezies (ty for a fluttershy episode that breaks away from the usual plot), maud pie, twilight’s kingdom

season five: the cutie map (yay villain starlight!), castle sweet castle, make new friends but keep discord, canterlot boutique, crusaders of the lost mark

season six: a hearth’s warming tale (minus the shaky introduction, the songs are soooo so good), the times they are a changeling, to where and back again (I know I complain about the treatment of Chryssie and those ugly Changeling designs but it’s a solid shakeup from the status quo and sells me more on Starlight as a character)

season seven: parental glideance, discordant harmony, perfect pear, it isn’t the mane thing about you

season eight: horse play, sounds of silence (i just like the kirin’s designs lol)

season nine: she’s all yak, between dark and dawn, the last problem

Least favorite episodes vary between i don’t like this for personal reasons and I don’t like this for obvious reasons:

season one: bridle gossip, over a barrel,

season two: a friend in deed, putting your hood down, dragon quest,

season three: none i really hate? more neutral or positive feeling tbh

season four: three’s a crowd, trade ya

season five: slice of life (it’s just a bit too much, even for a guilty pleasure episode), party pooped, amending fences, brotherhood social, what about discord,

season six: newbie dash (this one is just plain mean), spice up your life (so bad it’s good. rarity is wildly out of character, the main antagonist is a straw man, and so on. kind of in a disbelief at how much this episode doesn’t work lol), stranger than fanfic and honestly every daring do episode, every little thing she does (not selling me on that redemption pony show!)

season seven: flurry of emotions, hard to say anything and really any fucking sugar belle/Big Mac episode, a royal problem (IT SHOULDVE BEEN TWIIILLGFIITHTHR FOAMING AT THE MOUTH THEY TOOK HER FUCKJNG EOISODE), fame and misfortune (“we’re REAL ponies” says the purple horse written by grown adults), once upon a zeppelin (far too mean of an episode for me), shadow play (for the crime of being boring)

season eight: school daze and school raze, fake it til you make it, the break up break down (hate these types of plots), a matter of principals, a rockhoof and a hard place,

season nine: a trivial pursuit, dragon dropped, a horse shoe-in, the ending of the end

(2/4 sorry realized dazais was super long split it into two its 4 parts now) ur sooooooo right about dazai and this scenario SO right the fucking bastard probably does this to randoms for fun on the weekends. sidenote im going with mafia dazai for this just cuz he has more room to be Evil and i also dont think kunikida would allow ANY of these antics if he was there. warning hes gonna be SUUUPER mean i kinda softboy-ed aku but i cant bring myself to do the same to dazai </3

darling is just some civilian with ties to an enemy syndicate or works somewhere they need access to as an average employee with a convenient amount of security clearance, no one really that special on paper, and he’s pissed. he’s stuck with some no-name loser for the foreseeable future? how demeaning. this work is so beneath him as an executive, can’t he make one of his subordinates do it?

he’s amazing at the flirty coworker persona, and even BETTER at the loving boyfriend schtick. scarily so, when you consider that he spends a lot of his downtime thinking about how much you bore him and he cant wait to get rid of you. similar to what he does to chuuya in wan, every perceived slight you commit against him is put down to paper so he can get his appropriate vengeance when the time comes. you hummed and it got on his nerves, he’ll be sure to break your jaw. you touched his hand today, for that he’ll rip your fingernails off one by one. stuff like that.

he starts to warm up to you as time goes on. the surefire way to dazai’s heart is to give him unselfish care. something as small as packing him something for lunch since he only eats crab out of a can; to something as big as nursing him through a drug or alcohol induced stupor after one of his many attempts on his own life. he wakes up the next morning clean, comfortable, and with a very minimal headache due to the cold washcloth you put on his head. why did you bother doing that?

yea i don't think ada dazai could do half these things and get away with it either so we'll stick to pm dazai!! i do have a question tho, can you find crab in a can? is it edible?? it sounds strange to me i only eat tuna (lol) out of a can...lol this got much longer than i planned for, sorry in advance!!

ask continued: (3/4) good news: he’s attached now! at the hip! hes a little obvious, really. dazais always flirty, but now hes CLINGY. and JEALOUS. he seemed so Above being affectionate or possessive of you, before. much too self-confident, you supposed. but now you’re lucky if you can manage to get out of bed without having to escape the IRONCLAD GRIP hes got you in, and do NOT even get me STARTED on how he reacts to ANYONE so much as looking at you! you’re his! his his his his HIS! you both love each other, so you belong to one another! simple as that!

bad news: you have recently figured out that you shouldve been scared of him. of course, you find his little notebook, and something inside of you is SCREAMING at you to read it, and what you find shatters your view of him forever. you brushed off the really weird vibe you got from him initially, cuz he was so nice! attentive! you never really got attention like that from anyone before, it was all too easy for him to get you caught up. stupid stupid stupid.

worse news: he notices, when you start to pull away from him. you’re making excuses not to see him, not to sleep in the same bed as him. you get all stiff when he gets too close to you, and you wont kiss him back. doesnt take him long to figure out what happened. takes him even less time to come up with a plan to make sure you cant run away from him. don’t be scared, he loves you so much! he’ll show you how sorry he is for saying all those mean things!

it's not like dazai was new to the whole leech-out-information-from-an-unsuspecting-victim-and-kill-them-after routine, but he definitely didn't like this part of his job. it's so terribly boring as compared to his go-to way of getting information (interrogations! torture! shorter and less effort needed!) it takes too much effort to make sure his target likes him enough to lower their guard around him and spoonfeed him the information he needs. it takes even longer to safely send back acquired information to the pm without anyone suspecting him to be the mole, and usually these missions take months if not years. he doesn't want to invest to much time in something like this, especially when he knows his target is the most boring person to walk upon this planet.

if he was assigned to the leader of some crime syndicate, or maybe the secret mastermind behind a revolution, or even a top-level military agent, he might find the thrill somewhat entertaining. after all, there's something quite wonderful in wrapping an untouchable person around his finger.

but you...

you were painfully ordinary. he understood why it had to be you, a somewhat 'regular' member of the ability group, trusted enough to have access to information that would be useful, but not too high up in the ranks. not to mention, you would eventually be moved up and allowed access into even more highly guarded secrets. if he didn't get to you now, he might never get you at all. if you were too important you'd never trust anyone, and you'd be too paranoid to let slip even seemingly unimportant details. it had to be you, and now.

and he was good at his job. he was charming but not suspiciously so, and not so well known that he would be identified. still, as he watched you before his infiltration had officially started, he realized that you were a fool. too trusting, too smiling, and far too friendly. even akutagawa would have been suited for this job, you wouldn't have suspected a thing. maybe you'd even like the whole grumbling outcast thing he had going on. but no matter how much he whined or complained or groaned, nothing was done about it. he was stuck with you until he finished the mission.

it was probably his hatred towards you that caused him to act so recklessly, and moving the relationship so quickly—from strangers to moving in together within a month. it wasn't hard to have you eating right out of his hand, with some saccharine smiles and soft looks, gentle stroking and—you practically had stars in your eyes. what a fool, he thought, ignoring how the softening of his eyes when you cheerfully ran into his arms happened somewhat naturally. you must have been desperate if you so eagerly accepted his sudden advances.

he still hated you, of course. he recorded your wrongdoings so he could unleash his fury later, when you were no longer of use. that time you ran your fingers through his hair, he swore to break each and every bone in your hand. and when you dragged him out on dates he planned out the appropriate punishment, same as when you touched him or kissed him or smiled up at him with so much warmth it made him sick—you made him sick, and you'd pay for that, eventually.

surprisingly, despite his overall sleazy and cruel demeanor—he never paid for dates (even though he was given the funds), and never bought you presents after the third one. he never initiated any physical affection, and straight up ignored your calls sometimes—after you were officially dating you still seemed to like him. you probably idolized him, after being starved of affection for so long. any crumb of affection he gave you, whether it was a fake smile or a stiff pat, you'd eagerly eat up. it was so pathetic he almost felt bad for you. even know, this relationship wasn't real, but you were a fool who thought you found love. not like this arrangement was anything you should be mourning.

were you hoping he'd turn back to the charming guy you met all those weeks ago? did you really have no clue that you fell in love with a lie? or maybe, you just couldn't comprehend someone using you. after all, you weren't very wealthy or connected to anyone influential. all you had was your job, and that was meaningless to most people. perhaps you thought he was most people, because it was so easy to get things out of you. at night, when the two of you were awkwardly lying down in bed, he just had to roll over, throw an arm around you and whisper into your ear, asking about your day. and then everything came pouring out. you weren't so stupid as to directly admit you worked for an ability organization, but the details were still correct. you'd tell him about the planning you had to do for a company event nearby, and just as you said, a week later the group he was targeting was there for something. it was so easy, now, to intercept all their plans. you were annoying but...somewhat useful.

and then...it happened.

dazai didn't realize there had been a last-minute change in plans. your group had come onto the meeting spot earlier than you had said they would be, and he was caught red-handed inside the building. to his surprise, you, without even stopping to consider his intentions, immediately shot up to defend him, excusing him saying that he probably just stopped by to visit you. your coworkers relaxed and slowly agreed. they, too, thought dazai didn't know about the 'company' you worked for, and thought he was just being a considerate boyfriend. it couldn't be farther from the truth, but he didn't care what they thought.

you saved him.

and it wasn't the only time, either. there were the times you've nursed him back to health after yet another one of his stupid stunts, the times you've waited hours for him to turn up for a date, complaining but never actually mad, the times you've made him something to eat, knowing he didn't care much about eating healthy. it infuriated him how genuinely selfless you were, even to an asshole like him.

you cared about him, like you cared for everyone else in your life, even though he knew he didn't deserve it. it was so nice, though, as much as he hated admitting it, to be cared for. to be looked after and loved genuinely despite his shortcomings. sometimes he wondered if you'd only love him more if he cleaned up his act. the more you smiled at him and gently nudged him awake and asked him if he ate and showed him things you thought he'd like, the more he realized he was getting a little attached to you.

and then, he came to a decision.

you were far too nice to him for him to just leave you to die after this mission. and you were far too kind to have such a terrible boyfriend. he could at least try to completely win you over now before you inevitably found out about his true intentions and then, you'd really hate him since he would have killed your friends. he decided you would stay with him, regardless of how the mission went.

he probably should have considered your confusion when your usually aloof boyfriend suddenly became a completely new person. you'd wake up and get ready to leave when an arm suddenly wraps around you and dazai whines at you about not leaving. whines! the same man who'd rarely say a word to you until breakfast was acting so...clingy all of a sudden, though you'd be lying if you said you hated it. suddenly your days were filled with constant kissing and an arm always around you, dazai showing up at your workplace more often to grab lunch with you and boldly flirting with you. sure, there was something quite terrifying about the way he glared at your coworkers, his eyes so blank it was eerie, but you forgot all about it once he snuggled into your neck and placed a kiss on your collarbone.

and then there was his insistence that you were being overworked when he normally wouldn't have cared what time you came home, as long as you did come home, going so far as to contacting your boss to demand you get more time off. of course, everyone laughed it off as your boyfriend simply being concerned for your health and your boss complied, shortening your hours and granting you a long overdue break. your life was just so perfect now. and to think you were worried about him wanting to break up. whenever you asked dazai why he was suddenly so expressive, however, he would only give you a vague answer about realizing it was unfair of him to let out his anger by treating you coldly and wanting to fix things. because, as he said so often, he loved you.

"nobody could love you as much as i do," he would say, "seriously, i think i could die in my love for you. you're everything to me and i love you so much."

maybe you should have noticed how...intense his feelings were then,

it all came crashing down one day when you saw a text on his phone—someone asking him to gather more information about the ability users in the group you were in. he wasn't supposed to know about that, and by the looks of it, he had been using you to steal intel the entire time. though you felt stupid now, you were more concerned about how you could put an end to it now, especially because you were in so deep with him. at least a while back you could have quickly ended things with him using the reason of being a terrible partner, but now, it would only raise suspicion with him and your coworkers. how were you to explain your boyfriend had been spying on you the entire time to anyone? what would they do to you, and worse yet, what was he planning to do to you once he had no use for you?

the only logical thing to do, in your eyes, was to slowly drift away and eventually break things off with him. his only source of information would be closed then, and you would be safe. the problem was, it was pretty much impossible to leave him. he was always by your side, held you tight as you slept, dropped you off at work and even knew all your friends. how were you supposed to explain to anyone that your boyfriend was going to kill you once he destroyed your group?

as you already figured out, dazai wasn't stupid. it was about time you found out, but now his plans had changed. no more killing you. he could keep you with him permanently now, after forcing you to quit. he didn't need your help anymore for the next part of the plan, which only required him to eradicate the group since they weren't willing to comply to the port mafia's demands. it wasn't like he expected you to sit down and hear him out after finding out he was sort of using you all along, but still, it hurt when you scowled at him and screamed at him. oh well. he could figure it out.

as he smiled down at your bound figure, your eyes wide at the blood soaking his coat, realizing what he had just done, he decided he would stop at nothing to convince you of how much he loved you.

really, he wouldn't trade this for the world.

yes 👏 everything you said, just yes. he's such a goofball and a dork, and just adorable. I've seen people call him 'cringe', and sure he can be, but it's not like the others aren't. I haven't really been involved in the fandom publicly, but from what I've seen he's the only character where people nitpick at his flaws. Again, I haven't really been involved so let me know if this isn't true!

honestly at first he didn't catch my eye (talking about trailers and such) but then I played the game and just absolutely fell in love with him

we’re on a similar page. from what i saw before playing, Jacob didn’t interest me much. i was more excited for Justice Smith bc The G*t Down is one of best shows i’ve ever watched. but now that i’ve finished The Quarry several times over, Jacob has held the Number #1 spot for my favorite character!

he’s such a dork and he really warms my heart. not to mention his serious sides. Jacob has alarmingly low self esteem and abandonment issues that become more apparent the later into the game you get. he’s a really interesting character!

abt the cringe stuff: any Supermassive fan getting on a character for being cringe must’ve been asleep when their other games were released. one of the company’s most well known perks is quirky dialogue so to suddenly have a problem with it now is wild.

so far the biggest group i’ve seen that found Jacob embarrassing are the let’s players who were more focused on pairing Jacob up with Emma, instead of genuinely enjoying the characters as their own people. which is sad bc Emma and Jacob are a lot more than just their former romance.

for example, if you look at the “peanut butter butterpops” dance as Jacob simply trying to woo Emma, then yes it’s a bonafide fail. but if you view it as Jacob being super excited to find a snack he hasn’t seen in years, one he loved so much that he memorized it’s jingle, and is so overjoyed at finding a bag he erupts in unrestrained song and dance, only to grow even MORE excited at the idea of introducing said snack to someone who’s never had it before, then the moment comes off as endearing and tooth achingly sweet.

abt the nitpick stuff: tbf i don’t think Jacob is the only character that gets picked on:

Ryan definitely does, like a horrendous amount. most of the times i’ve seen ppl praise his character is just when they ship him with Dylan. and even THEN sometimes ppl will say comments like “Dylan deserves so much better tho, poor guy”. Ryan gets shat on a lot and it’s very uncalled for imo.

as does Emma. ppl hated her island vlogging and call her all types of insults for the way she went abt the dare. which is unfair bc there’s tons of moments where Emma’s deeper personality shines. she’s very concerned for the well being of animals and only wants to make ppl as happy as she can. she is not just “The Girl Who Kissed Her Best Friend’s Crush”™️. she’s fleshed out and deserves her props.

and then there’s that “sociopath/secretly abusive Nick” thing going around. i’ll admit i thought it had merit for a short while, but i’ve come to realize it doesn’t, not as much as ppl think it does anyway.

i believe the only ones who are solid fan faves are Dylan and Kaitlyn. 90% of the fanbase loves Laura, but debate whether she took up too much screentime in Chapter 7 or not. i love Laura but i’m part of the group that agrees her story shouldve either been spread out more or saved for a DLC.

🏳‍🌈 do you have any headcanons (lgbt, race, neuro, etc) that are important to you?

oh man a lot... um lets start with my number one everything.. qrow branwen.. literally bisexual first off. he is so into men i think. but not the men everyone ships him with -_- i think some stuff with him and clover is kinda cute but clovers literally a copppp.. the way they meet is clover arresting him and like 8 children for the crime of *checks notes* protecting civilians and ppl say qrow "my opening scene is destroying military property and shittalking the militarization of goverment and predicting its downfall AND BEING RIGHT" branwen not only falls for him but also jokes abt the cop "fixing him" like. yes qrow has every mental illness but if u think the cop is fixing him instead of the other way around.... 😬 also the other popular ship is him and ozpin.... who he met when ozpin was a principal and he was a student.... ok im done with shipping drama its just so much of what i find when looking for content for him its annoying -_-

um hes also canonically an addict and like. its undeniably true that he has depression and its not a headcanon exactly but him being explicitly mentally ill and fucking up and giving up and relying on unhealthy coping mechanisms while still being good and loved while also being called on things he does that hurt others without ever losing that love..... ough it means a lot to me even though some of the earlier writing skips over these things they are a notable part of some later volumes (volume 6 is my fav for a reason.. the reason is qrow) and not even exaggerating one of my fav things abt rwby is that they havent killed qrow off which sounds SIMPLE but hes a character following the footsteps of many cool but messed up mentor figures teaching protags and then dying for their development but he DOESNT. the idea of stepping aside for the next generation is CHALLENGED and hes CAPABLE of working on his issues and contributing to the main cast and betterment of the world not as a mentor but an equal in the fight to save the world. OUGH. WHATEVER. HE MAKES ME FEEL SO MANY THINGS.

also he isnt white i dont care about the models. there are points to be made about him and his family being vaguely indigenous and/or asian coded but the worldbuilding is sooo. its so. idk. i wouldnt say theres super strong evidence for either but i do enjoy both headcanons. i personally like to interpret him as latino/japanese bc mixed latino is the highest honor i can bestow upon a character but i also think it brings up some interesting concepts with his complicated family relationships. oh also hes nonbinary i do make the rules talk to the wall if u disagree. his gender is off the charts sir give me ur eyeliner secret. just kidding i know in my heart u do it with ur giant scythe.

HELP. thats all just qrow. Well yeah that tracks im obsessed with him. anyways ill list a few other things that are important 2 me without trying to type tooo much

um ruby yang and taiyang are all chinese. ur name is NOT taiyang xiao long if ur white (and also created by an asian man... but ppl rlly like to skip over that part) especially when contradicted with characters named shit like nora and peter (and weiss and jaune)... this specific like biggest pet peeve is people talking the character models at face value and drawing (especially yang but definitely also ruby) them as white like 🤨 thats so embarrassing. the models themselves kind of whitewash the characters (for lack of a better term, its complicated) and they do hire artists who further that but plssss do some thinking abt a man named taiyang xiao long having daughters and how that very much makes them chinese -__-

on a similar note blake shouldve been a poc. black and south asian hcs are my fave for her but like. it wouldve been so much better for several reasons. unrelated, but i like to hc that yang had ptsd before volume 3 but thats mostly because i project a lot of my childhood mental health issues on her lmao.. i could probably go on for a very long time so ill end it here. also. tyrian is trans

oh man.... i have every rwby song memorized except some of the newer ones and lionize (bc i hate adam <3) but my fav of all time is probably bad luck charm. yes because its qrows song. i think it was my second song on spotify at some point. but some of my other faves are gold, i'm the one, hero, war, the sky is falling, and like every yang song. i love the music for rwby a lot <3

AHHHHHHHHHH THIS IS GOING TO GET SOOOO LONG!!!! i have a different view of the indo fam as a whole. i call them the indo fam but i mean the found family trope!!!! theyre like a group of college students sharing a dorm if that makes sense, since their servant selves are obviously different from their initial myths/human vessels!!!

OK SO. RECENTLY, i have an oomf that found books about arjuna that summarize his exploits in the mahabharata(I DONT HAVE THE STRENGTH TO READ IT ALL IM SO SORRY) and also talk about him in a more philosphical manner such as his states of mind during each event etc and i’ve been meaning to read said book because im genuinely interested in arjuna now!!! and i’d like to know more about this indo prince because from what i’ve seen, he is portrayed in a rather bad light(?) in FGO which i find extremely !!!!!!!!!!! and incrdibley !!!!!!! strange !!!!!!! the mahabharata’s conflicts can be put in a mostly grey area where there’s no good nor bad, its not black and white. so seeing arjuna get bashed because of the way his conflict with karna was written is... hm. let’s say that im REALLY starting to understand arjuna fans that dislike seeing him get mischaracterized so much. OTHER THAN THAT, his design is adorable, his travel outfit is my favourite because he deserves to relax and have some fun!!! fgo making him a chuuni is cute and his VAs little moans are cute cute cute!!!!!!!!!!! (mash grabs my shoulder and forces me to sit down) i think that arjuna deserves better and im really happy to see him have fun in his travel costume voicelines. i think we should take arjun on a date!!! he’s a great lover, we’d have the best time!! OH ALSO, kama seeing him as the student council president in their interlude makes me SOOOOOOO HAPPY its unreal, i think it fits him very very well, the seitokaichou who was elected because of everyone’s hopes and recommended by teachers because he’s suuuch a good student but because of that, the pressure to be good is constantly towering over his head and everytime he looks out the window he wishes he could ditch class and skip a day just because he felt like going to the arcade and be a bad student.......just this once........i think hes very very cute...... i want him to cook for me. ANEWAYS i also have quite the thoughts about karna, his characterization in the game is linked to arjuna’s and thats fine but i think that forgetting how much of a little sassy bastard he can get was a mistake! did you know that in apocrypha’s german dub on netflix, when jeanne calls his name like “You’re Karna, aren’t you ? The son of the Indian Sun God !” HES LIKE “So ?” AND THAT WAS SOOOO BITCHY OF HIM, i think that karna is a good boy in fgo but the fact that he was such a fighty old man in the mahabharata shouldnt be forgotten and is a charm trait. I MEAN ???? HE THREW HANDS WITH AN 18 YEAR OLD(ARJUN) WHILE BEIN LIKE... THIRTY TWO. ganesha is also a character im deeply interested in but i havent played CCC so i dont know that many details about jinako herself !! my brain goes HMMMMMM it seems lord ganesha is trans in fgo ! (since kama used to be a male god originally as well!!) ganesha uses all pronouns!!! and ganesha is also special to me because they share similar traits with kama when it comes to their characterization AND mischaracterizations. ganesha isnt JUST jinako. theres a part of a god in the servant mix!!! and jinako HERSELF is actually a pretty sad character imo. the whole otaku/neet thing is obviously a facade and her true wish being that she wants to redo her whole life is also proof of how much she hates what shes become, yet at the same time, she doesnt know what else she could do. but anyways, i prefer looking at servants from a lore POV so i think that ganesha should still be considered a god and be adressed as such!! i like seeing people portray ganesha as jinako but i prefer it when a certain lavish more godly side of them is put forward. a side of jinako that managed to move on a little bit if that makes sense ? that got more serious. and became someone else entierly despite sharing similarities. needless to say their bond with karna makes me happy since he shows them respect as you should towards a god!! its a bit different from their bond in CCC... like they matured somewhat!! anyway ganesha is the one who taught everyone else in the indo fam about video games and technology and i will NEVER shut up.

miss lakshimi makes me very sad! because every female servant in the indo fam is an already known face. (... would sita count.) and lakshi being a jeanneface is a waste. well, she’s still very pretty and her lore is also quite interesting!! i havent looked into it fully yet but i think she should be kissed on the mouth. her bad luck makes me slip on a banana peel whenevr i get close to her to kiss her and i hit my head on the pavement and pass away-

parvati is on a tough spot for me atm. i genuinely love thinking of her as the way the indian goddess herself is portrayed because thats where the fun lies for me in her character. especially when shes involved with other indian servants, thats a given!! i would like to see parvati grow, suffer and heal. because branding her as an “all-knowing mom” is easy, but every single parent makes mistakes if you follow that logic. also, since shes the sakura servant “thats closest to her initial personality”, she’s got some of the most Repulsive fans ive Ever witnessed in fandom spaces and lets say that im trying to work my way out of this hellhole and find things to like about parvati without the fandom’s influence. needless to say, im going to keep looking into her mythos and her lore by myself at my own pace and keep doing my own thing in my little corner.

rama shouldve been a jock. THE RAMAYANA IS OLDER THAN THE MAHABHARATA, WHY IS.....Hrm well him being summoned as his baby version gives me hope for a future rama alt perhaps??? but i think that he shouldve been a total jock and he shouldve been huge with a huge red lion-like mane for his hair and a teethy grin and big biceps and intense love for his wife. SPEAKING OF SITA, her charm point is her purity but i wish.... that their artist still hadnt drawn them like That, im not a fan of lily servants and i think purity = being young is a bit of an annoying excuse!!! rama and sita looking similar is because of their shared history which is fine but... rolls my eyes............. rama shouldve been 6ft tall and sita shouldve been a milf to match...... anyways i doubt ravana would be added as a servant but i’d love to have a ramayana centric event!! where all indo servants have their own lore centric role to play!!! oh thatd be a dream.... but i have learned to not expect much from a fanservice game so im jus gonna draw my own stuff! Onmyoji Movie

HI so I watched the Onmyoji Movie based off of the game last night and . . . . that sure was something!

In all honesty despite the weird path they decided to take, I actually enjoyed the movie. The music and detail in the scenery was amazing, I LOVED the costuming for a lot of the background characters esp in the Demon Realm, and a lot of the easter eggs that were hidden were nice.

BUT. but. As someone heavily invested in the lore of the game (especially concerning Ibaraki) how they decided to deal with the movie was like. really confusing. It genuinely felt as if NE gave the directors a cast of characters and let them do what they wanted from there w/o any prior knowledge of the game.

(spoilers down below)

Before I really pry into that though, I’ll kinda note some of the characters.

Seimei/Qingming was actually my favorite. I think this is sort of an unpopular opinion right now, but his characterization was so nice even if it sorta leans into the basic drama hero type personality. In the game Seimei is supposed to be you/the player, and not everyone is going to have the same interpretation of him-- and that’s what the movie felt like, a different interpretation. I will say I didn’t really like them making him related to their version of Orochi. I believe the snakes name was Xiangliu? I can’t remember, but I didn’t see the reason in that.

If anything, keeping him a fox and having a version of Tamamo no Mae popping up to offer advice to help with the situation would’ve been nicer, and that’d keep more of Seimei’s backstory kept in tact-- because asides from him becoming an Onmyoji apprentice at a young age we literally do not know shit about him. And legit I wouldn’t necessarily mind bc it’s a movie, you’re not going to get everyone’s backstory within 2 hrs, but we can’t really get attached to him.

Yao Bikuni/Baini was. Hm. I like her as a character in the movie, but I don’t like where she’s placed as a character in the movie. She’s a Seer? in the game and tbh it should’ve stayed that way, like I honestly can’t see her willingly working for one clan. “But how would she--” In game she is also influenced by Seimei pretty heavily, as in the in game chapters she believed he would be able to kill her. Up until she got manipulated by Orochi, she stuck to his side. With the Stone plot in the movie, if it put him in danger she would be there in order to try and help him, OR, try and pull him to join Orochi if they went that route. And they KINDA tried to hint at it when Seimei “died” with Orochi using her image, but like. come on man. Let Yao be evil for a little bit.

That being said I didn’t like the Master & Shikigami bit with those two, or the implied romance they tried to pull with them. Canonically Seimei legit brushes her off and when shes like “ohhh you’ll kill me right” hes like “lol sure” and thats IT. Literally any form of romance that’s tried at Seimei he brushes it off. he’s not into it he’s an amnesiac.

The “Oh if you become my shikigami you won’t become evil” thing was :/ to me as well because again, canonically, even though Seimei is being taunted he can contain the Kitsune part pretty well even when he wasn’t aware he was kitsune. Like I think the part as a kid was a good bit to add since it’s when he’s first being exposed to Onmyoji type stuff, but like. idk idk I couldn’t vibe with that power dynamic while they were trying to hint romance.

Continuing on with Hiromasa/Yuan Boya and Kagura/Shenle, again considering this is a movie, I’m somewhat content with their characters.

I really liked how energetic this Kagura was, and given they weren’t able to do her actual backstory, I liked the one she was given. Her introduction in the movie was really great too-- and compared to Hiromasa I felt they gave her a little more attention? Which like fine, but not so good for Hiro.

They didn’t even. Discuss his archery skills at any point which was disappointing. The most plot relevance he (and honestly Kagura too) had was finding Seimei while trying to arrest him but that’s it. And yes they showed some of his skill while he was fighting Kamaitachi, but that’s the extent of it. AGAIN i’ll consider the fact this was a movie and they didn’t have enough time to fit EVERYTHING in, but since they gave Yao and Seimei so much attention you would think they’d be able to spare some for the other two protagonists in the game.

Before I leave those two tho I’m still trying to figure out what the fuck happened in the end. Like did hiromasa get promoted in some form? was he given credit for what happened between the demon realm? Why did he separate from Kagura since they got close during the movie? I guess like bc work duties but still. I have no idea tho like i was sitting there not processing a single thing. Regardless I did like Hiro and Kags acting like siblings despite in this canon them not being related (at least it’s never clarified).

Ok so before I dive into the whole mess that is the Cimu/”Ibaraki” character, stuff on side characters.

While I didn’t like the outfits for Sakura(? Momo? Both of them?) or Chocho, I liked the roles that they held as sort of trainers for the rest of Seimeis shikigami. In fact I liked the whole courtyard ordeal in general. I have my own worldbuilding thing that has a similar theme so seeing it being used canonically was pretty nice. I do wish we could’ve seen more SSRs or even SRs though. Like, why couldn’t Aoandon be hanging out in the courtyard to give gossip to Hiro & Kagura? Yamakaze or Shishio hanging out in the forest, or like. bruh even Jikikaeru as the boss in the Showdown considering he runs that in game.

I did like the fish man! I really did, but literally everything about him could’ve been Jikikaeru, I don’t think it’s that hard to make a frog man.

Also as mentioned previously it would’ve been nice to see Tamamo make an appearance considering he makes random ones every now and then. The Mujou Brothers could’ve helped the shikigami when they were escaping Seimeis courtyard, Shiranui could’ve been an entertainer while they were traveling through the demon realm, HAKU??? couldve been one of Seimeis shiki?? literally anyone. They have all these misc characters in the background but barely any of them resemble in game characters.

GOD EVEN KOSODENOTE COULDVE BEEN THERE . . . . at the scene where Kagura was messing with jewelry and clothing . . . Koso couldve been the seller. Aobozu could’ve worked at the shrine . . . . I just. Man.

ANYWAYS . . . pulling from that and going into whatever the hell Cimu is. god.

So according to casting, Cimu is supposed to be Ibaraki. But the thing is. There’s only like. 3-4 Elements about Ibaraki that goes into him. Everything else is Shuten which i honestly find pretty funny?? Take away the homophobic jokes and combine the gay coded character into his love interest. Which I mean that’s better than making them brothers but at what cost.

anyways. Cimu previously being an onmyoji but turning evil -> shuten previously being a monk and turning evil. The design of the hand that Cimu uses as transportation -> SP Shutens design where he sits on two hands. Red hair -> shuten. The horns, eye color (minus scleras), arm getting chopped off, and his ambition to grow stronger are really the only parts of Ibaraki that’s in the character-- and even then you could say Shuten has a similar ambition of growing stronger. It’s just so scuffed.

ALSO IT DOESN’T MAKE SENSE. literally it doesn’t make sense when you look at the characters.

Why couldn’t they just stick with Kuro Seimei considering the fact that this Ibaraki works with Ootengus and Yuki Onna/The Snow Queen? They could’ve given Seimei a twin brother to work off of this. But like if they really wanted to keep Ibaraki and Shuten, they could’ve made it that Shuten was being manipulated by Orochi and Ibaraki was serving him, because there’s a LOT of shit you could do just with Shuten by himself. Legit no reason to combine the two since they’re BOTH heavily marketed characters.

Legit like, Shuten being controlled, given Ibaraki’s loyalty to Shuten he would most likely follow him no matter what, and even like. Have a form of Momiji to kind of help out-- probably at a heavy expense of Shuten doing something for her, but still. like i LOVED the snow queen, I loved this interpretation of yuki so I wouldn’t want to get rid of her, but they shouldve went with Seimei 2 instead of “ibaraki”. It’s just so much and it doesn’t make sense.

Now orochi himself and how that was handled was like. Okay I guess. If anyone was being talked to through their head at the time it should’ve been Yao Bikuni considering she allies with him in canon at one point. but like whatever. I did think the end was neat where Seimei forced him into becoming his shikigami, like I liked that whole process. Otherwise all antagonists were pretty underwhelming.

I also was not fond of the ending where like Seimei just turns away at the broken bridge. Like does this mean the Demon realm is completely cut off now? just fix the bridge. Also does Seimei just fuck off?? I know theres a scene where he’s standing on the roof but. i dont know.

Regardless the movie was great, I had fun watching it. When ibaraki came in I accidentally paused the movie a couple of times while spamming screenshots. Even tho hes like kinda ugly but that’s ok. There WERE some angles where he was hot as hell but otherwise they did his actor so dirty. The horns were just. God I won’t delve into that bc this post is long as hell BUT. BUT. THE MOVIE WAS GOOD. just not if ure into the lore for the game LMAO.

my new calling is watching all 36 barbie movies in chronological order and rating and reviewing them. i will add to this as i keep watching.

nutcracker (2001): 8.5/10 - funny, and i liked that barbie was smart enough to guess that the nutcracker was the prince instead of being surprised. he also made sure she got credit for saving them, in a feminist gesture instead of just taking credit when offered. he also said he would only be the prince if people wanted him to, so the nutcracker is honestly so woke. only thing i didn’t like was the ending, because she definitely shouldve stayed in nutcracker land. also like, was the nutcracker reincarnated as the guy who gets introduced in the end? like i just didn’t get it.

rapunzel (2002): 10/10 - literally the painting scenes in this movie are so beautiful, the rabbit is hilarious, the penelope and her father storyline is genuinely heartwarming, and rapunzel causes world peace. i was also wondering if this is an east and west berlin allegory because people seem to have german names in both cities and a lot of the families being torn apart rhetoric seemed similar but also i’ve been studying the cold war a lot for class so that could just be me. but honestly this deserves 10/10 for the scene where she paints dresses on herself alone. ALSO the sorceress is called gothel and rapunzel loves to paint and is a lost princess, which is interesting bc none of this is in the original fairytale, and thus i have come to the conclusion that disney plagiarized barbie, proving that barbie is the superior movie studio.

swan lake (2003): 10/10 - let me start by saying the scene where they walk across the log by the waterfall is so cool i re-enacted it so much as a kid and also the spunky purple unicorn has my name so this is a very biased 10/10. i also thought it was interesting that even though odette is a good person, her motivation for breaking the spell was a selfish one at first and this added some complexity to her character and gave her an arc of personal growth of compassion winning over fear by the end, which is more relatable and inspiring imo. the dress in this film is so pretty also, and the dancing is so fun to watch! and to round it out, prince daniel said himbo rights when he kept trying to shoot arrows at the evil sorcerer who we established early on can melt arrows.

princess and the pauper (2004): 10/10 - annalise and julian are such a cute romantic pair they’re the first ones that have real chemistry i feel like. also he’s the first love interest with a brain and initiative . preminger is also such a spicy villain, the songs slap, the humor is good...we all remember why this movie is good i don’t need to go over it.

fairytopia (2005): 6/10 - i think the aesthetic of this movie is what really saved it; i thought the character design and settings were really nice, but i found the story to be pretty boring. elina didn’t really speak to me that much as a character, i just feel like there wasn’t as much development of her character as the previous protagonists. definitely some potential there, so i’m excited for the sequels. also i hate how cute i found bibble lol.

magic of pegasus (2005): 9.5/10 - this was mad good actually, my only con was that i did find annika’s voice was more annoying than other barbie characters, so i was just wondering what the deal was with that. annika’s positivity of hearing ‘the wand of light is made of these impossible items’ and going ‘it’s only three things!’ was inspiring, to say the least. the banter between the annika and aidan was so cute too. also literally the fact that he was a gambling addict who ran away from home with a whole redemption arc….iconic. anyway i really enjoyed this actually, i wish i’d actually seen it as a child. also all the ice skating scenes were fun. and uhh brietta and the cloud queen are def in love and you can’t convince me otherwise

mermaidia (2006): 8/10 - definitely better than the first fairytopia! to start with, the subversiveness of needing to rescue a prince is fun! said mermaid prince is cute and watching him interact with his captors is a joy, but why does he have a mullet :-/ i do appreciate elina’s commitment to female solidarity with regard to nori (who, as a side note, is hot), and their burgeoning friendship was a fun part of the plot and omfg the shot with the two of them jumping down the waterfall...nice. nori and nalu are a really cute pair also and i thought it was cool that elina wasn’t the one to get the guy. i also thought it was cool when bibble sang opera. and elina’s last sacrifice at the end redeemed her to me after being kind of bored of her. however, what i really don’t understand is why nalu even asked for elina’s help in the first place?? ( like, because they’re friends? he clearly has other friends, and while we’re on that subject, did their friendship develop offscreen or are we meant to believe they are close friends from the 30 second almost silent montage from the last movie?), so that kind of puts a damper on the whole movie for me.

the barbie diaries (2006): 7/10 - what on EARTH is this animation style. who okayed this??? im literally seasick watching it. this is like a regular teen movie, which is interesting for the barbie genre. the banter between the friend group is really cute and this movie is actually quite funny and profound and i really enjoyed it. but it’s really best if you just close your eyes and imagine what is going on bc whatever you imagine cannot be worse than what you will see on the screen. it feel really off brand for barbie movies plotwise, like it seemed much more like a disney channel movie. so the verdict is, i enjoyed it—the plot is fun, if a little predictable, but there was simply too much to be confused about.

I get she was there to show us how fucked up the volturi are and to sorta predict bella as a newborn but……...we already knew the volturi kill mfs just for fun. if the cullens werent gonna adopt her we really didnt need many details on her. and regarding the newborn thing, bree’s role as a newborn didnt really mean shit bc bella ended up being ~the perfect newborn~ anyway!!!! smeyer tried to sell us the short second life of bree tanner as if there arent other worthy characters of having a spinoff novella about like leah or seth or rosalie or emmett or charlie or resume from bella’s ovary. that being said………..

resume, for multiple reasons including:

resume literally shouldnt exist. vampires shouldnt be able to have working sperm and even then, edward shouldve pulled out. he could barely even tongue kiss bella so wtf made him think he could cum in her????? whyyy didnt he use his big vampire brain to consider that?????

hunty movie 1

sooo ruth and i watched the first hxh movie holla

me as soon as we’re done w/the yorknew arc: OH FUCKY ITS ANIME MOVIE TIME

i love anime movies. theyre so often Entertaining As Hell, and also Not Very Good. its a very fun intersection

overall this movie slots pretty easily into that category. it was a good time but nothing revolutionary. which is ok! and that makes sense bc its not canon apparently

this movie was basically the ‘killua and kurapika have Trauma(tm)’ movie lmao

we open w/killua having a trauma dream abt illumi, rehashing the stuff we saw in the hunter exam arc....we see this a few more times in the movie, and it really drives home how killua is still rlly scared of illumi and kinda just goes into a dissociative trauma state whenever illumi is around (even fake doll illumi or dream illumi, in this movie). poor kid :( :(

regrettably tho ruth and i agree that illumis outfit in this movie was pretty sexy

ok that whole beginning part where kurapikas eyes get stolen happens SO fast hvbfhdjshfsk its like ok guess thats the status quo for this movie!

jesus poor kurapika. they cant catch a fuckgin break huh

also that kid was totally the kid that was alluded to by kurapika at the end of the yorknew arc...so i guess that was included in the anime as a setup for this movie?

also apparently that stuff was based off of a short story thing the author did a while ago which is p cool

hisoka literally just shows up to sow chaos and throw around information to stir shit up huh

of COURSE the villain is the former 4th spider thats like. easy choice lmao

it might just be the fansubs but i feel like there were strong implications that hisoka and 4th spider guy fucked bhjdfashfdjnakn

the most unbelievable thing abt this whole thing is that hisoka didnt kill that doll guy lmao

OHHH SHIT NOBUNGA AND MACHI....its so bad but i really like the troupe members and when they show up im like !!!!!!!

aughhhh its like....i feel bad for nobunga for having to face down uvo like this....and THEN when pakunoda shows up too :( and nobunga tells her doll ‘rest in peace now’ or something when he cuts her down....oof. but also like theyre evil murderers so im!?! conflicted?!?!

also the shadow beast guys that uvo killed showing up and then proceeding to do LITERALLY NOTHING was kinda hilarious

and damn so technically the troupe is on the same side as the main crew, what with all of them wanting to wreck omokages shit

also omokage looks like sephiroth lmaoooo

ill be honest i barely know what sephiroth looks like but ruth said this and i felt in my bones that its true

ok i gotta talk abt the kurapika backstory stuff bc OUUGHGHGHGHGH my fucking UWUS BITCH!!!!

seeing a bunch of kurta was sad....and seeing baby-er kurapika OUGH and also pairo is sooo cute and him and kurapikas friendship is so pure

kurapika is so different :( theyre like, so much more innocent and excitable....thats so damn sad bro wtf

pairo pulling some slick moves swapping that little potion thing - all while using his blindness as a cover - was so good...no wonder he and kurapika get along so well

also gotta say its even more brutal that one of the main reasons kurapika didnt get Big Murdered w/the rest of the kurta is bc pairo pulled this stunt - if he hadnt, kurapika wouldve failed the test and never would have left

also kurapika saying theyre gonna find someone who can help w/pairos eyes ;_; the similarities w/leorios backstory/motivation makes me die

and seriously im still caught up at how innocent and pure kp is oooof ough

tho still defs the kurapika we know....theyve seemingly always had a temper, what with the reaction to the dudes in the market

like, kurapika did NOT hold back...even after finding out that they were just part of the test! tho i do get it bc they insulted pairo...kurapika’s love for their friends/stalwart need to defend their friends is clearly a big thing

also the market people’s reaction to seeing kp’s red eyes is rlly interesting to me...are the kurta like, known to anybody? or are they more of a vaguely talked-about group that like, ‘probably exists’? or is it that people know abt them but not the red eyes thing? it seems like these people, if any, would know, bc this market is seemingly a day’s travel from where the kurta live....i want more kurta lore bro!!

i big love pairo helping kurapika cheat like that....such an interesting twist, and makes it obvious that theirs is a friendship of equals

anyways i loved that flashback stuff and it just drives home how absolutely fucked up and horribly sad kurapikas whole existence is, especially in this movie w/pairo’s doll being used against them

n e ways back to the non flashback stuff

i love that gon’s super nose returned for this movie omg

im just auhghghghgh gon and killua know each other so well uwu....

aaaand illumi (well, doll illumi) is back to fuck shit up for poor killua

ugh it still gets me how clearly terrified of illumi killua is...we dont really see him act like this any other time :( and the fact that doll-illumi was able to scare killua enough to get him to run away and leave gon behind (albeit briefly) was oof

gon jumping in front of killua and getting his eyes stolen instead....baby boyyyy oughhh

also can i just say thank fuck they didnt replace illumis eyes w/gons bc THAT wouldve been some serious nightmare fuel lmao

cant believe killua then ran away again and walked emo-ly on the train tracks

and THEN he saw a train coming and was like oh well :( guess ill die :/ JESUS KID

but gon w/his Big Sniff Powers comes to the rescue!!

it was so cute how gon told killua that killua didnt run and abandon him - they were working together to fight :’) gon understands killua so well

i love how the squad then squads up to fight omokage...with half of them being blind lmao

and in the half that isnt blind is leorio, who STILL doesnt know nen, and literally brings a knife to a nen fight

i totally saw the whole ‘retz is a doll and her older brother is omokage, and retz actually died a while ago’ thing coming lol but still, not bad

all omokage does is talk abt the beauty of his dolls or w/e like ENOUGH bro

kurapika fighting pairo and killua fighting illumi (AGAIN) was all so fucked up they shouldve switched opponents for less trauma oof

and poor leorio is literally no help vhhvdijfhjbashkj he just gets throw around this whole time

kurapikas fight against pairo was sad bc it was such a fucked up situation...kp did gr8 tho, i liked them saying that this isnt the real pairo, cause pairo would never say/do these things. still and extremely sucky situation to be in!

meanwhile its the gon and killua vs doll-illumi rematch...and this illumi is like, a version of illumi drawn from killuas mind/heart (or something idk, it was kinda glossed over which i understand), which means that hes extra scary and focused on telling killua how much hes just a mindless killing machine who cant have friends

but luckily we have gon here to help snap killua out of his trauma haze, which certaintly wasnt the case at the hunter exam - so it was kinda nice to see how things went w/gon around :’) they work so well together oughhhhh....and they love each other so much broo gay preteen love real

hisoka just fuckgin materializing in the house place to help sow more chaos....unbelievable

general thots:

so this was very much an Anime Movie, in that they cant like, advance to plot or develop the characters much, bc its a movie. and this one is non canon

it was enjoyable but i do feel like it was much more typical shounen then hxh usually is...like, i feel like this was made by the same people who make like, the naruto movies or w/e, and w/the same sort of approach/attitude

this isnt necessarily bad - i LIKE shounen for a reason - but it was a bit noticeable bc it wasnt quite as smart as hxh is usually, and it rehashed a lot of stuff weve already seen in this show itself

but still i think it did a good job w/what it had, and it had some good angst, and everyone was very gay which is good

the art style was SLIGHTLY wack but it wasnt as bad as i thought itd be

overall a fun time like most anime movies. didnt reinvent the wheel but i had a good time. im excited for the greed island arc, and im also disproportionately excited to watch the hxh musical bc that is a thing that exists and i MUST see it asap bc that sounds like the kind of hilarious wackiness that appeals to me specifically

Hello! I just read your post on the thing around Crowley’s nose (i’m jewish) and I have to thank you because I always felt uncomfortable about it but never had the words to explain why Anyways, you said something in the post about the decision to cast DT as crowley and I was curious about your thoughts on that?

thank you for the kind words love !! i made the post because i was feeling uncomfortable and unsettled by how some people were drawing crowley, but it took me a while to finally figure out why ! when i did, i had decided to write the post ! i’ve been putting off answering this question for a while, since ive also had other people send me asks with the same thing. but ive finally decided to do so (for a second time, bc i lost my original answer from a power flicker at home).

i probably could have worded what i said better in my post, but i didnt, so now its time for me to explain what i meant by saying that david tennants casting decision was antisemitic. im going to preface this by saying i dont think the casting director OR gaiman came into the decision for antisemitic reasons, nor do i think david was cast ‘just because of his nose,’ as some people have been claiming i said. i just think it was an unfortunate side effect to the decision. gaiman said that david was picked bc of his unique silhouette for the church scene, but that doesnt change the impact it has. im also going to touch a bit on his character design in the show, because this is my post and i can do what i want.

gaiman said that crowley was based off of him (though this might just be tumblr lip service, since i cant seem to find any source saying this, so feel free to correct me if im wrong). so, my initial thought would be that gaiman wouldve and shouldve cast a jewish actor for the role. he was raised jewish, and is jewish, even if he doesnt actively identify with the faith, and if crowley is based off of him, why wouldnt he pick a jewish actor to play him? we all know he didn’t, because he picked david. david isnt jewish in any capacity, just really really scottish. but, he looks like he could be jewish. im pretty sure i have an uncle that looks uncannily similar to david, and im 100 percent jewish, which isnt much, but is something i just think is funny.

if i remember correctly, gaiman has also claimed that he wrote crowley in response to an antisemitic scene he observed in a play. two defining explanations for who crowley was as a character before he had ANY kind of character traits were that he was based off of gaiman, and he was written as a response to antisemitism. this screams pretty jewish to me, but again, a goyish man was cast to play crowley.

why would it be antisemitic for this to be the casting decision for our resident snake man? im glad you asked, my fellow jew in arms, cause i have many things to say and no word limit.

we were all first introduced to david in mainstream media from doctor who, where he had a very different look compared to crowley. now, both the tenth doctor and crowley are very different characters, but there is something they both have in common. theres a persona that is settled deep within both of them that they dont like anyone to see, sans a single person (rose and aziraphale respectively). the time lord victorious versus the nice demon, obviously there are other similarities, and david has played characters that aesthetically are much more similar to crowley than the doctor was. there was that one movie about lesbians where he played that goth hipster dude, among others. but, fanart for david for these two characters are so drastically different its sometimes shocking to remember that they are played by the same actor.

david reminds me of my uncle who loves to wear the locust mask at a passover sedar because he thinks its the funniest one. david has the same nose as my grandfather. crowley uses yiddish in teh show. has was cast out of heaven for questioning G-d and the infallible plan, which are two very jew-y reasons to be kicked out of heaven. hes the serpent of eden, which is supposed to be the first real icon of evil -- as well as something a lot of christians will attribute to judaism.

crowley is almost undeniably jewish, but he is also littered with antisemitic features. as i said in my original post, a lot of the features that really define crowley, when combined, points towardsA a very antisemitic caricature. crowley in the book is described as having dark hair, which most fans interpreted as red. gaiman and the costume designer decided on red hair for crowley, as well as making it curly when its long. both of these decisions are deliberate alterations from the book description. one could argue that gaiman would have the best idea of what crowley looks like because he and prachett wrote the book together, but they also purposefully left the descriptions to a bare minimum.

it was the combination of (antisemitic) character design decisions with david tennants jew-passing goyishe look, that i feel the casting decision was unintentionally antisemitic. no one intended for it to be that way, but to have a non-jew play a character that is so visibly interpreted to be jewish, its insulting. especially when you add multiple layers of antisemitic character design on top of it.

id be glad to further elaborate, but i feel like this post has gotten long enough, and is a little obnoxious. everyone is free to reblog this post, as well as my original one, goyim especially. if youre not jewish, do not make a negative comment. come talk to me, and we can see why you refuse to acknowledge antisemitism.

i watched cap marvel like a week ago so here are my thoughts on that~~ spoilers of course

carol is a character who has been held back all of her life even before she was taken by the kree. and after being taken in by them, she’s had to “fight with one arm tied behind her back.” she’s told that the powers she has arent even truly her own but instead are a privilege given to her and can be taken away by the kree if they deem her to be unworthy of them.

her whole life on hala was one of being manipulated and internalizing this idea that she must repress her abilities because theyre a threat to those who want to use her

which makes her final interaction with yon rogg when she tells him that she has nothing to prove to him so cathartic!

i’ve seen a few reviews that say that carol doesnt rly have a character arc bc all she does is “get stronger” rather than undergo an actual internal change but i just... dont think that is true lmao

i understand how her just going from being able to shoot photon blasts to being able to shoot photon blasts but theyre more powerful and also she glows can seem unsatisfying at first?

often in superhero origin films, the heroes gotta be shitty at their powers first and it’s through ~character development~ that their skills grow? i.e. iron man and doc strange for example. even with thor who already had powers and was skilled with them had to lose his powers and undergo character development to regain them in both thor 1&3

but carol is never bad at her powers? shes told and we the audience are told by yon rogg and the supreme intelligence that she cant control her powers well. and so i can see the audience being kinda put off by the fact that theres never any evidence that thats true? but the fact that it’s not true is the whole point.....

carol’s character arc isnt about learning to take up the mantle of a true superhero in the way iron man and doc strange’s movies are about that. carol is already capable of being a hero and her arc is just one of self-discovery and breaking free of the expectations placed on her by those who just want to use her. she has to learn that she doesnt have to repress herself for the benefit of others but instead is free to be the best she can be

and so her already being skilled with her powers isnt a flaw. it serves that arc.

buuuut i think a case can be made on whether or not that arc was executed well. imo i feel like it couldve been done better but as it is it’s fiiine. i will say that although i enjoyed the movie it did feel like it was missing something that hooked me the way that like... black panther or thor ragnarok did?

and that missing something is: while the groundwork for the themes and her character are there, i dont think they were explored thoroughly enough? like they didnt dig deep enough.

bc carol’s whole physical journey is finding out that she’s human and the kree lied to her and... that was kind of obvious from the beginning?? maybe we dont know the specific details and all but when carol finally realizes that yeah! she was a human! it’s like.... ok... we finally got here. i mean it’s not like there were many other roads this mystery couldve gone down

i just think the journey of self discovery shouldnt have taken the sole form of learning that shes human? bc then the betrayal by the kree doesnt really hit as hard as it should. like it makes it feel like the only thing they did wrong to her personally is lie about the fact that shes human and.... i just dont think the fact that shes human is all that relevant?

like yeah the kree being imperialists is enough to want to kick their asses but the protagonist’s relation to their antagonist is important making the stakes feel high and the protagonist’s triumph truly cathartic

them lying to her about being a human just isnt a big enough deal to me especially considering it was foreshadowed real early on already.

instead they shouldve focused on her relationship with the kree and the ways they made her feel like she had to repress herself for their approval. but she spends very little time with the kree. and the closest person to her on hala is yon rogg.... and we dont rly get much info about their relationship either? i did like the scene where she tells him that she has nothing to prove to him... but that wouldve had A LOT more impact if we had seen examples prior to this of how often yon rogg would belittle her or how often she’d have to conform to his expectations for his approval. she has nothing to prove to him by the end of the film but it never rly seemed like she was rly after her approval in the first place? we know when she communes with the first intelligence she expresses a desire to serve in their military and that’s one instance of expressing a desire for approval buuUUuuuut the supreme intelligence lets her serve immediately after that conversation and on that mission there isnt rly any example of her team not trusting her to do anything? theres no example of her having to conform to their expectations? i mean theres that one scene where she says she’ll go ahead alone and yon rogg said No but that is... an incredibly small thing.

i feel like it’s kind of implied? that carol grew up in an abusive/dysfunctional family and thats part of why the rambeaus made her a part of their own family?? and i kinda wish that was explored more. and instead of her journey being focused soley on finding out she’s human, it’s her gradually connecting the dots between her abusive upbringing on earth and how similar it was to the way the supreme intelligence/yon rogg treated her and her realizing how manipulative they are........... and rather than her finally finding out that they lied to her about being human being her sole personal stake against the kree, it’s instead just the final nail in the coffin and the reveal wouldve had more impact

anyway!! rly hope they explore her character more in her next solo movie whenever that’s happening bc i doubt there’ll be a lot of time for that to happen in endgame

overall i rly like carol and i liked the movie and im honestly a little bitter about ppl saying she has no personality and no character arc! bc she does! it’s there! maybe it’s not as well executed as some other marvel films

Why Kamen Rider Ghost is Not that Good but isnt Horrible

Pros:

-it promotes people to believe in each ither and even if someone/something is cooler (cough cough Mugen Tamashii) just believing in what you love is great and promotes growth if you take the time

-it had really cool suit designs

-Necrom and his side stories were great to see and his growth was mostly genuine

-there was vrutal honesty with certain forms being stronger than others

-reuse of the Dark Ghost eyecon near the end was a fun throwback making the movie canon to a degree

-characters may be annoying but each viewer will find someone to love

Cons:

-the main character has no emotions other than I will protect people. That isnt bad, it's just dissapointing compared to what he felt like when he showed up near the end of Kamen Rider Drive.

-Specter the secondary rider feels like an unfinished character. He starts off solid but gets very blurry toward the last 15 or so episodes. He has a weird passion that is a little unclear but if you dont pay too much attention it's alright.

-Deep Specter is the worst form story context wise. It makes sense out of context for being the Toucon Boost form but a little bit better for Specter but it's power source was stupid and had no actual gauge on how powerful its capabilities were.

-ganmeisers are the worst final villains ever and are just random monsters to toss at the hero. They have no true passion and do nothing but fight and try to propel Alain's brother's passion which was just counter productive for his own family as a whole.

-the sage shouldve stayed being the "god" of the world and every ghost shouldve stayed actual ghosts. Having the sage just be some dumb scientist from another dimmension was dumb and having a dimmension of not-ghosts that sometimes summon real ghosts was even worse. They couldve stayed being some form of Kaijin with better passions.

-having a dragonball wish mechanic but only having the eyecons being spread 3 feet away was stupid. I dont care if it wouldve been repetitive, search for those bullshit plot devices again. Have it be like OOO where people snatched their plot device shit like it was nothing from each other.

-Necrom's true power up should have been an actual Eyecon Driver. It has sounds programmed into it and it couldve changed his shape at least a little bit

-Necrom basically having willpowrr as his power source is stupid since there is no hazard level, or similar feature to the "ghosts." There was no sense of him getting stronger at all besides the plot saying so

-Mugen Tamashii was a lazy form but still looked great, while i aggree with the morals of Mugen, how it came to be was very lackluster and was an excuse for the hero to come back to life.

Final thoughts:

Ghost is an okay series that is among the weakest in Kamen Rider history, next to Ex-Aid and Wizard. None of them are terrible or god-awful, just really weak with their writting.

ahhh i mean ya i felt sad when people were annoyed at how much character development he got…;;

the thing is, seasons 1 and 2 were both intended to be season 1. if you combine the two, then you see that a lot of characters got their development out in season 1. but keith? up until the latter half, he has nothing. no one really challenges his world views. and when they do–hello pidge–it’s like hitting a brick wall. he’s stagnant, quiet, reserved. one of the writers flat out said that, out of all of team voltron (including allura and coran) keith had the least amount of lines in season 1. out of everyone, keith needed development the most, and im glad he got it.

what really makes me feel bad about ignored character development for keith is some stuff i heard people saying after season 2 first came out. a few fans were annoyed about bom, said that it was unneccessary and keith didn’t need that much focus, that they shouldve given certain scenes to other characters and that spending a whole episode on keith’s backstory was ridiculous. and yet, everyone was more than happy to go on about how good keith looked in the suit. there’s almost this thing about keith where it seems like some people want him to be seen and not heard.

when fans think of him as just something pretty for decoration, thats what really bothers me. there’s also this sentiment that people wanted keith to have scenes, but not his own scenes, which makes me kinda sad.

thats also why i get kinda defensive about a possible black paladin keith–he’s already proved himself by piloting the lion once before, and it was basically shiro’s last dying wish that he pilots. shiro doesnt even consider anyone else. keith cares about his duty to the team so much he was the only one who readily signed up for a suicide mission to central command. at the end, when shiro is out of the fight, keith is the one who steps up and gives orders–and all the other paladins follow without question. but people are still so quick to dismiss that character development in favor of the flat season 1 interpretation of “just runs in and stabs stuff without thinking”

similarly, ive seen a lot of people hate keith’s character development with allura. but i think that, in terms of their leadership styles and passionate personalities, they’re very similar. so i get why they’d become closer. they have a lot of interesting parallels, from both having to give up their dad to internalizing this idea that they need to sacrifice themselves for the good of the team. i understand why people didn’t like the galra keith conflict, but i think it makes a lot of sense to show someone who didnt trust him immediately. i think it was rushed and could’ve been handled better, but i dont really see any reason to blame allura or keith’s characters for that. (i also believe allura had every right to react the way she did, and was thankful that rebuilding that bridge was at least a choice she made on her own, and not something she just did because people told her to get over it)

and i mean, i feel kind of bad because i know i talk about sheith a lot, but also …it seems like shiro was instrumental in shaping keith’s backstory, and its kind of hard to talk about one without the other when shiro is also a part of a lot of keith’s big character arcs–finding red lion, standing beside him in bom, serving as the catalyst for keith’s leadership, the fact that he did something big that changed keith’s life, ect. so like, even though i talk about sheith a lot, i also like to think i do so in the context of keith’s own character development while still establishing that he’s his own person first.

and for any ship, i think as long as people keep that in mind, then there isnt any disservice to his character
