Not Again. . .

Does anyone remember roughly two months ago when I posted Back to the Roots—an essay detailing how I had to restart my original family tree (with 7,000+ individuals) from scratch due to my own pre-hobbyist negligence catching up to me?

At the time of that post, I already had 30 individuals nestled into my new, pristine tree. Since then, I've added another 150 meticulously researched and cited individuals to keep all entries consistent and verified.

Last night, I realized with a frustrated heart that I forgot I decided I wouldn't add transcribed-only data to the verified information pool, but that was definitely what I'd been doing with the new tree. I don't know how many individuals were affected by this oversight.

I have to give myself some grace, though. Suddenly changing up a long-standing habit is difficult. All I can do now is fix the issue before I go any further.

Do I start completely over again? That's certainly an option, but one I'll use as a last resort. With only 180 individuals, it should be relatively easy to go through them all to discover which ones need damage control. If the undertaking becomes more trouble than it's worth then I'll likely start fresh.

Ah. So it begins.

Another name added to the annals of speculation. Another face scrutinized beneath the ever-watchful gaze of those who would divine an Elf’s destiny from the cut of a jawline alone. And now, here I am, summoned to weigh in on this latest debate—to provide clarity, wisdom, or, perhaps, merely drama.

Very well.

Celeborn? A reasonable assumption.

A noble lineage, a storied past. One could argue that the weight of his history is too great to be entrusted to any but the most carefully chosen. And yet, despite all the whispers, I find myself hesitating. Not for lack of faith in this supposed Elf-like mortal, but because…

What if it is Glorfindel?

What if, against all logic and expectation, he has once more defied fate, defied time, defied me and my attempts to maintain even the slightest semblance of order?

What if I turn to behold this newly unveiled figure and am met with the unmistakable, irrefutable smirk of a golden-haired menace who has, somehow, returned yet again?

Do you understand the implications?

Do you know what it would mean if, after all these ages, we are once more subjected to the radiance? The casual heroism? The complete and utter disregard for structured record-keeping?

Do you comprehend the utter calamity that looms on the horizon should Glorfindel once more descend upon us, golden-haired and oblivious to the concept of restraint? Do you understand the catastrophe that shall unfold if he is, in fact, the one stepping forth from the realm of speculation into the realm of my very real, very fragile sanity?

I do. I understand it all too well. And I fear that no amount of preparation, no meticulously crafted itinerary, no emergency council meeting will suffice to contain the sheer force of his arrival.

But perhaps—perhaps—this is merely paranoia. Perhaps the whispers are misguided, the theories unfounded. Perhaps this is yet another case of mortals catching a glimpse of something vaguely luminous and immediately crying Elf. Perhaps the stars have not, in fact, aligned to conspire against me.

Or perhaps I should brace myself.

Because if Glorfindel is indeed among us once more—if fate has seen fit to return him to my doorstep, sunlit and smug—then truly, there is no rest for the weary.

Nor for my ledgers. Nor for my patience. Nor, I suspect, for anyone who values peace in this Valley.

May the Valar have mercy.

I looked at your links of commentary on 15.18 and memes mocking Cas, because memories have slid over time about reactions that night. What I'm wondering is if Jensen's last con reaction--saying the text was there, reactions there, no need to revisit what had gone on--was A SIDE STEP OR AN EVOLUTION. Because imo it felt very much related to what he's said from day one, only more delicately phrased on the friend zone part and more bluntly on No!NotAgain <starkytower/status/1794778358024409591>

Have read the transcripts and seen the video, I say it was a side step (also the name of Cordell Walker's bar). Jensen never changed his anti-Destiel stance since 2014, and he hasn't changed his answers regarding the meme-making confession since 2020. Jensen is just getting better at being diplomatic when answering the same damn trap-loaded question while never straying from his original stance. And hellers are as usual twisting Jensen's words for their own clout-chasing or self-soothing.

Destiel hellers can't stop being bitter over the finale nearly 4 years later because they spent decade+ investing both emotionally and money on a stupid slash ship so they desperately need a "win" to show for their decade+ of investments.

This sad sap had a petition and wrote 29 pages essay on why few thousand entitled basement dwellers *deserve* a new SPN finale. 4 years later and they couldn't even get half the online Destiel fans to sign the petition.

This other petition even got less signatures.....
