Are you even brave enough to go back to Machete's canon story and make him a miserable man again after of this. After knowing what could have been. After letting him know that love is as real as the cold marble of the temples he bruised his knees praying on day after day. And that unlike his god, it answers. And that it's out there, warm as the morning sun, shining through the iron bars of his prison, waiting for him.
Would you turn your back to heaven and put back your crown of thorns if salvation was so close you could feel it like ichor in your mouth. Would you.
Lord help me I think one of those writer anons is in my inbox again.

the lisa + alec roommates sitch is so precious specifically bc they r both the two most talkative / abrasive / generally annoying members of the undersiders (w varying degrees of intent but regardless r still just always saying shit) but once brian + taylor go home they speak like 10 words to each other for the rest of the day .. sometimes in the morning they go into temporary fugue states at the kitchen table next to each other for 5 minutes while eating their cereal

I've had an idea over the last few days of Rashomon when not being used for combat, is sort of like a therapy animal for when Akutagawa's not around anyone. Some of its forms have little 'heads' and such. Perhaps it can shape itself into small "animals" of sort that he can stand their presence when collecting information or having a rare time to himself that isn't caught up in his own head.
But never treats his ability like its a pet, but a tool; a weapon. Something the black beast/animal/whatever it is is fine with, but occasionally just wants a headscritch too.
Thoughts? It is 3am.
A blessed concept. Beautiful. I don't usually particularly vibe with scenarios that make Rashomon more sentient but the concept of it emerging like a pet when Akutagawa is alone and comforting him is admittedly adorable, 10000/10. I am immediately down bad for any scenario that gets Akutagawa to catch a break from The Demons™

when Into the Woods said:
“we disappoint, we leave a mess, we die but we don’t” (parents) / “we disappoint in turn I guess, forget though we won’t” (children) and “like father, like son”
“careful the things you say, children will listen” and “careful the wish you make, wishes are children” and “careful the spell you cast, not just on children” and “careful the tale you tell, that is the spell”
“wishes come true, not free”
“everybody makes one another’s terrible mistakes”
“witches can right, giants can be good, you decide what’s right, you decide what’s good”
“nice is different than good” and “you’re so nice. you’re not good, you’re not bad, you’re just nice.”
“someone is on your side, someone else is not. while we’re seeing our side, maybe we forgot—they are not alone”
“sometimes people leave you halfway through the woods. do not let it grieve you, no one leaves for good”
“into the woods it’s always when you think at last you’re through and then into the woods you go again to take another journey”
“into the woods you go again, you have to every now and then. into the woods, no telling when, be ready for the journey”
“into the woods each time you go there’s more to learn of what you know”
the sheer brilliance of ending act one with Ever After and “those who deserved to were certain to live a long and happy life” and “we reached the right conclusions and we got what we deserve”—only to upend that in act two, where there are no “right” conclusions, where there is no “deserve,” where there’s only life in all its random heartbreaks and injustices, where the people are all full of fault and there is no “goodness” and “badness,” where it’s so much more messy and human. Where we reach a finale that is not a saccharine “ever after,” but a hopeful ending that is true
WHEN INTO THE WOODS SAID, THERE CAN BE NO “EVER AFTER” BECAUSE NO STATE OF HAPPINESS IS PERMANENT. WHEN INTO THE WOODS SAID, WE SHAPE THE WORLD WITH THE STORIES WE TELL, WE INHERIT OUR PARENTS’ FAULTS AND CURSES, AND WE PASS THEM ON IN TURN. WHEN INTO THE WOODS SAID, EVERYTHING IS ONGOING. NO ONE LEAVES FOR GOOD. EACH TIME YOU GO, THERE’S MORE TO LEARN OF WHAT YOU KNOW.

I am friends with so many other writers that I truly do forget that it's an accomplishment to write a book. And I've got two books out! That's great! And I am trying to make myself rest before diving into book 3 revisions (I'm SO excited, but also oh man, that one is a beast and I need to cut it down. Somehow.)
