Imagine catching Lestat singing to your (stolen) daughter.

The sound of Lestat crooning from the nursary had caught your attention. The little baby that you two had taken together, sold by a woman who was homeless and looking for a coin or two in order to eat. She couldn’t feed her and the baby, so you and Lestat took her so she could have a better life. You put off turning the child, who would want to stay a baby forever, so you had another human in the house, a pink-cheeked little babe. “Des nuits d'amour à plus finir, Un grand bonheur qui prend sa place” Lestat was singing, holding the little one in one arm, with a bottle, filled with milk by a hired wetnurse in the other, feeding her before putting her into her crib for the day. “Des ennuis, des chagrins s'effacent, Heureux, heureux à en mourir.” “Le Vie en Rose?” You asked quietly, walking into the room. It might have been a morbid choice, singing about being happy to die, but not in this context. Not being so in love that a person would die for it. “You humans, and associating colors with feelings” Lestat said, a smile on his face, fangs slightly showing as he lowered the sleepy, milk-drunk girl into her bassinet. “-it fascinates me how much do you it, when to me, everything is red.” You wrapped your arms around him from behind, resting your head against his strong back. “That is what happens when blood is your life, my love.” You chuckled. “But I do think that you feel pink sometimes, it is the way that you look when you smile at me.” “Une part de bonheur, dont je connais la cause…” Lestat sang again, making you the one that was now smiling. You were not his vampire yet, not his eternal lover - but at least you could provide him that slice of happiness.

Whenever I look at these scene I like to imagine the Narrator sitting in a reading chair while all the voices gather around him in a circle and pester him to start narrating like a bunch of toddlers eagerly excited about storytime would with their overworked nursary teacher. After either tossing him to the background and/or hating him in general, these scenes where they all just playfully banter are just really cute. Completely at his expense tho. I love the Narrator, but we stan bullying him in this house.

What Tumblr did you guys start out on. I came here for the vaporwave art and it lead me to offbeat images Tumblr and I remember @ nursary and theoldness being my favorites. And a few others I forget their names. I somehow fell through the ceiling of the girlblogger ecosystem some time In like 2019

Butterfly Storm: The ceremony

Pepa watched in fear and horror as Mirabels door slowly faded away everyone started yelling and panicking, she heard a clap of thunder as she stared at her niece she was just standing there in shock tears falling down her face she strode foreword Felix following after her and took her in her arms as she sobbed

“Tia I’m sorry I didn’t mean to” she sobbed “shh shh it’s ok you didn’t do any thing wrong” “mi vida let’s take her to our room she shouldn’t be alone tonight I’ll get some of her stuffed toys from the nursary” she nodded and stood up still carrying Mirabel and positioned her to be able to open the door so Pepa wouldn’t have to put her down and gasped in shock as the door started glowing the second Mirabel touched the handle

It was a double door now with the right side looking the same as Pepas old door but with her hands on her heart instead of to the side, the left side depicted an older Mirabel holding the sun surrounded by rain snow lightning clouds and oddly enough music notes

I have a nursary rhyme stuck in my head

just a random assortment of ones we haven't gotten to yet

HUMPTY & DUMPTY are nice and easy. Taken from the children's nursary rhyme, but in the context of some other WA monsters, very probably specifically his appearance as a character in Alice in Wonderland.

AGOWOGDENT is one of those enduring mysteries that I've never been able to make sense of... The Japanese is written A-GA-OO-GGU-DE-N'-TO[アガオォッグデント] which is both nonsense but also has that really weird OO syllable that I've never seen used in a word like that... (Usually, a small lone vowel sound is used to create a sound not otherwise used in Japanese, like using FU[フ] and a small I[イ] to make FI[フィ].(because otherwise the syllable set just goes HA[ハ] HI[ヒ] FU[フ] HE[ヘ] HO[ホ]) But obviously O[ォ] doesn't modify O[オ]. On its own it's sort of like a "Whooo..." "Oh..." or even an almost meditative "Om..." sound, but I don't know how that works into a name.) I've also seen it sometimes written out as A-GA-OO-GG DE-N-T[アガオォッグ・デント] as two distinct parts of the name. But even if the DENT is "Dent" that doesn't make AGAOOGG any clearer...

BLUE SNAIL seems fairly generic but there is a funny history of weird snails illustrated in medieval manuscripts. Some monstrous or just generally inaccurate, some distinctly huge or with human features, and not uncommonly blue. But that's hard to really confirm as a reference.

The VODYANOY is a slavic mythic creature that is a kind of bearded frog man who dwells in rivers and occassionally menaces people. In some tellings it keeps the souls of humans in teapots. Due to some of these similarities it's been modeled as a Japanese creature, called a Kappa, which is also a frog/turtle gremlin man who menaces people near rivers and takes their souls.

RIVERSIDER and MARSHMAN are weird generic names for the stronger VODYANOY recolor. Bafflingly they aren't just named KAPPA considering the monster model is clearly based on a Kappa in the first place.

🎶 what type of music does your oc like? do they listen to music very often?

I think Deliah is the only one with strong feelings about music since she grew up around private orchestras and fancy live bands–but would always sneak into town to listen to what the local musicians would be playing in the street. I imagine the sound of a violin might make her nervous on a particularly bad day, but jivey blues and simple folk tunes on beat up old guitars and horns that aren't pitched quite right would get her so excited. And Ren I think wouldn't really care much, tho she might have some fondness for little nursary rhyme jinggles that she doesn't remember the origin of... And Matt is just totally into anything I don't think he really cares what kind but he loves watching people dance around

Renée is 100% a horse girl. Matthias definitely meets a dog adjacent creature for the first time and instantly falls in love. And I think Del would have a soft spot for birds, like carrier hawks/pigeons/doves specifically.
