The Elk, West Village

One of the cutest spots in West Village I visited during a walk a year ago. I really miss my daily nyc walks & grabbing a drink to go sit near the Hudson for people watching or just reading a book. This is worth a visit! Their coffee was really yum!

Meet Me At: Butler Bakeshop & Espresso Bar, Soho NYC

This past Saturday, I visited Butler Bakeshop on Lafayette st. in Soho. I filmed a quick TikTok but here’s the full tea: 

Accessible: Yes, one entrance

Aesthetic: Very chic and love the the color scheme, which I tried to recreate on colorhunt. I also love the furniture, light fixtures and seating options. A shiny, brown leather couch, a few high back chairs, and a long bench with single-serve tables by the counter. Also, there was a wall with merch that I would actually consider buying. The girl at the counter was in charge of the music and she was on point, just the right volume and you can still chat among friends. 

Crowd: White as hell. But the employees were diverse so...I would say upper-middle, upper class. Mid/Late 20s or older couples (50s). I also noticed a lot of students or people remotely working. 

I didn’t check if there was wi-fi but I assumed there was as there were a lot of laptops out. Also, there was a water dispenser for you to refill your water bottles which is a plus. 

The bathroom actually needs an update and fast. Also, a longer mirror for selfies, take note. 

Food & Drink: 

King Crimson with Hibiscus & Lemongrass: $4.00 ~ Good af, I got mine with a little simple syrup and a little honey. It was 16 ounces and I am Ms. Bev so that honestly wasn’t enough for me and next time I’m getting the 20 oz - 5/5

Cured Olive Oil & Rosemary Shortbread cookie: $5.00 ~ really good, would body fresh out the oven with some tea. 5/5

Vegan Citrus Poppyseed muffin $5.75 ~ BOMB. This heated up with some Bigelow Constant Comment tea w/ honey. Bye! 5/5

Total: $16.00 + $1.00 (tip) + tax = $17.60 = worth it. 

Would I go back? Totally.

On my event list? Yes.

Think coffee

Okay so think coffee has like a bazillion locations which is cool because you generally want to have a good version of Starbucks that isn't Starbucks if that makes sense? And I feel like this kind of fills that void in Manhattan for me just like the tiniest bit.

Anyway this is the one that's on 3rd because I walked from Irving farms that new one and I was like oh my God there's a think over here and I've never been there because I've been to the other things like two or three that I've been to otherwise that are okay but this one let me tell you what it is my favorite.

So the space is really good I feel like when you walk in it's easy to navigate and it's not like a weird wishy-washy maze kind of thing that some cafes kind of get I don't know it's just New York buildings I guess whatever. But there's like so many seats that are open and I found easily one to sit in and kind of chill there was a couple of outlets it wasn't like a lot of them but it was enough for I guess whoever needed them to kind of like share whatever and it did get a little busy in the afternoon granted this was like a Sunday and that was after the football game where Argentina won, so I think it's fair to say that was expected.

I always like things selection of coffee I think their prices are pretty fair usually you know that average 10 bucks whatever you know and you're going to get good coffee and like a pastry or something also they had like other food that they were cooking and it smelled so freaking good I was like yum please!!

I'll give this 10 out of 10 Kikis because honestly it kind of filled every vibe that I need I mean it had good Wi-Fi and had a outlets and had space and had good food and good prices and good coffee and actually I drink just the hot chocolate this time but that was like super good so I liked it.

今日気になってたカフェに行ってみましたー！☕️🥐

ニューヨークのSOHOってエリアにあって、コーヒー通っぽい人達がカウンターに座ってたり、観光客だったり、地元ニューヨーカー達で、めっちゃ人多かった。さすが人気店。😦

てか、見てこのエスプレッソマシーン！めちゃくちゃオシャレなんですけど。。。

ペストリーも激ウマらしい。次回は試してみよっと。

I went to a super cute coffee shop in SoHo called La Cabra today for the first time!

The place was packed by locals, coffee snobs and tourists… 🤣 I can see why it’s so popular tho…

Look at this super modern looking espresso machine!! I could spend hours just to stare at it.

Their coffee was very good with perfectly textured steamed milk. I didn’t try their beautiful looking pastries but maybe next time!!

new year, new journal! i've been having a lot of fun in NYC: hanging out with old college friends, going on first dates, and journaling at cafés !! the idea of heading back to campus for my last semester is dreadful but i'm excited for my return to the city once i graduate. NYC has changed so much since i lived here, it makes me a little wistful for a life i could have lived had i not left for law school :')) anyway, hope everyone has a wonderful new year's and see you in 2024 🥳🎉🥂

hello. i live in nyc. i am from texas originally, houston suburbs near galveston, and have only been here since may 2022. i am stupid obsessed with finding THE ultimate nyc cafe that gives me what i need:

outlets, good wi fi, ok price, plenty of space, and whatever else. i write as a hobby so for me finding a perfect place to post up, buy some grub and suds, and get to work is pretty much goals.

i also want to find places that are pleasing in ways that inspire i guess. like, you know, its easy to find a sbux that gives you the basics but is it cute?? is it fuckin cute????? well i will tell you on a scale of 0 to 10 kikis.

anywayyy maybe one day people will realize this exists and is actually updated and stuff and will want to support the cause. sweet. i will be spending free time (usually weekends) exploring all five boroughs to bring you the info you need to decide where to go.
