💦 : Is your OC’s attractiveness based on looks or a more intangible aura?

Varus: Going with aura – in terms of looks, Varus is fairly unassuming, smaller, shorter, lacking in refinedness and… well, tends to look like he wandered out from a sewer on any given day. For those who do find him attractive it’s usually more based on his personality – finding him awkwardly charming or find his skills as a thief appealing, or even his hard to pin down ambition and tenacity could draw someone in.

V: V has a healthy helping of both. He’s not the handsomest man in Night City but he’s got a sort of scruffy charm to him, and he’s not afraid to play with his sense of style to project him. In terms of energy, he’s exciting – drive fast, take risks, forget about tomorrow. But maybe there’s something more under the surface, a sense of sweetness, gentleness, compassion even.

Mordred: Oh man, Mordred, I feel like neither is the answer… The best comparison is an anxious small dog – he’s scruffy, in the, who knows how long it has been since your last shower and how many times in a row can you wear a pair of jeans before they need a wash. And he’s… standoffish, quiet, defensive, doesn’t stop at self-loathing. So why anyone would find him attractive is a mystery to him. Maybe they just like the mystery.

Jesse: While Jesse is on the fairly conventionally attractive side of things, his aura is far more attractive than his looks. He’s charming, with a sense of humor and the skills of a good listener. He’s got an easy smile and is quick to offer assistance, something chivalrous about him despite the life he’s leading, wandering town to town.  

Bonus Andy: A bit of both – They’re not huge on their appearance, but there’s something about the effortlessness of their style paired with a strong and athletic body that works well for them. Their aura… well, it depends, they can be quite reserved to the point of defensive, but their sense of duty, their confidence, and the care they show for their crew can shine through.

🚲 : Does your OC enjoy playing the field? Or are they more monogamy-minded?

Varus: He’s… not great at the flirting game, so he’s not much for even trying to have a particularly high number of encounters. But he’s fairly open to polyamorous or open relationships as well. He’s more concerned with the connection he has to whoever he’s with and the terms they agree to together – he’s not the jealous type, and isn’t interested in solely belonging to someone else.

V: He definitely enjoys more casual and short-term encounters. Maybe there’s some ingrained bullshit that ties the number of partners to a sense of accomplishment but that’s not something he’s ever really thought too long about – he enjoys flirting, enjoys a good hook-up or one night stand, doesn’t have to be more than that.

Mordred: His answer is similar to Varus’s. Its not so much the monogamy, but he’s not really the type to find himself seriously attracted to anyone he hasn’t known for a while.

Jesse: Jesse never really sticks to one place long, so a stable relationship isn’t something he sees in his future. Finding someone for a night or two isn’t too much of a challenge most times, and he’ll go on his way, maybe some times he’ll circle on back, but people move on, and there’s not really a place for him again. He’s pretty sure he’s fine with that.

Bonus Radek: Radek is much more monogamy-leaning. He… finds it hard to picture anyone being interested in him, so he doesn’t often end up putting himself out there, especially for anything more casual. When he does find someone, he’s just happy to have someone to be devoted to.

💘 : Is your OC a very good flirt? Are they charming?

Varus: given the previous two answers – no, and … only incidentally. He’s awkward, shy around the people he finds attractive. Definitely not the type to initiate most banter, at least not intentionally.

V: He’s not too bad – more direct in expressing his interest than playing games or lines. He tends to keep things light, compliments and jokes, not at all insincere, but most times, it’s clear he’s not looking for more than one night.

Mordred: His idea of flirting is… somewhere between pining for a decade and insults, so, the answer to both is a solid no.

Jesse: He’s definitely charming – almost gentlemanly, sincere and willing to lend a hand to someone in need and ready with a story or joke.

Bonus Azarath: Oh god, no. Not unless you like morbid displays of affection… “The jewel on this pendant I took off a mark reminded me of your eyes” “Was that person bothering you? Should I leave their mangled corpse somewhere for all to see, or should they just disappear?”

🦴 : Does your OC have much sexual experience? What are they like?

Varus: some amount – he’s pretty young, only really had one serious relationship and a few attempts at relationships that didn’t last long.

V: fairly experienced – he likes trying new things and new partners. He hasn’t had many long-term partners, at least none that stuck around long enough to become that.

Mordred: Doesn’t have any – he’s not comfortable with himself, his body, and letting someone else touch him is the biggest thing he could ever do

Jesse: He’s had a fair few casual encounters, mostly to ease the loneliness of the road, sometimes cause there’s a connection he can’t deny but those don’t tend to end well for him. He’s usually gone before daybreak then next morning.

Bonus Fiachra: He’s very inexperienced, he’s never been in a serious relationship and generally isn’t comfortable with more casual encounters. He tends to be very self-conscious about his appearance, and while that’s something he can’t hide (like Mordred) the level of trust needed to show someone all of him is something he’s rarely felt.

💐 : What is their courting style? How would they woo someone?

Varus: Oh man, Varus… Doesn’t like making the first move, at least not verbally. He courts with trinkets, with favors, something to show that he is capable and gives a damn… But nothing that outright shows his interests.

V: light banter, compliments, lots of focus on the other person – he tries to be more subtle at showing himself (talents, accomplishments, etc.) off, let that be something the other person finds, not flashed in their face.

Mordred: To quote a previous answer, “His idea of flirting is… somewhere between pining for a decade and insults” I’ll just leave it at that.  

Jesse: Definitely an acts of service kind of guy, whatever makes their life easier for at least a short time. He is humble about what he has to offer, though he’d call it honesty – and there’s few enough places in his life where he’s honest.

Bonus Gale: Gale falls hard and fast and tends to show his feelings quite quickly – spending time around the person, making gifts, listening to any conversation like it’s the most important topic in the world, bringing them food or anything that might make them more comfortable, compliments, genuine, but… he doesn’t ever outright say he’s interested, at least not until they do.

Fiachra (my Quinn Hati): Can and will and does dance but sucks at it and Quinn will never not tease him about.

74. Who's more likely to bail who out of jail? Would they give the other one shit for it?

Cadel (my Marcus Hati): Will leave Marcus to rot in the jail before he would ever bail him out (it’s what he deserves). Marcus bails Cadel out every time (it is canon after all hehe).

Ciarán (my Niall Hati): Would bail Niall out without question. I imagine Niall would pause momentarily with the decision.

Fiachra (my Quinn Hati): They would be in that shit together lol

93. Their pet has caused destruction. Who puts the pet in jail? Who defends the pet?

Cadel (my Marcus Hati): Wouldn’t have a pet but would absolutely defend Marcus’ pretty baby from Marcus putting it in timeout.

Ciarán (my Niall Hati): Would put the pet in jail and it wouldn’t be their’s.

Fiachra (my Quinn Hati): Have a collection of them and love them all. None can do any wrong as far as Ciarán and Quinn would be concerned.

I simply must know more about Fiachra. can you share what first drew him to Rufus, and vice versa? What does he like best about Itha and Fraldarius, respectively?

Ohoho this is a fun one. So for those not in the know: Fiachra was one of Rufus’ lovers and they have a child named Valerius. Due to unfortunate circumstances, the two of them had to leave Itha and now work as members of the Fraldarius staff.

So Rufus and Fiachra met during a diplomatic trip Rufus took to Derdriu in 1150. He had decided to walk around the city on his own late one evening and happened upon Fiachra’s family’s restaurant where he was pretty much the only patron left due to the hour. Being the person he is, Rufus caught Fiachra in conversation over dinner while he began closing up for the night. What drew Rufus to Fiachra was not only the food he was able to cook--and the fact he found Fiachra rather handsome--but also his rather down to earth, candid personality. He could keep up with Rufus in conversation. The trip extended over a few weeks and Rufus found himself coming back to the restaurant if only just to talk to Fiachra more.

Fiachra found himself drawn to Rufus for much the same reason. He liked having a conversation partner that was interested in roughly the same things he was. Rufus was charming and sweet, and seemed not to be too concerned with Fiachra speaking as plainly as he does. Not to mention him paying handsomely and letting Fiachra just talk and explain his food processes. So when Rufus was planning on leaving Derdriu, he extended Fiachra an invitation to come and be his personal chef. His family was really the ones who encouraged him to take the prince up on the offer, since how often does something like that just fall in your lap? Fiachra has thus always made sure that some of his wages are sent home to support his family in Derdriu and even with living in Faerghus he keeps in contact with them.

It was about two years after that before Valerius was born. Fiachra and Rufus kept up a steady friendship before the prince’s advances became something that Fiachra reciprocated. He genuinely fell in love with Rufus getting to know him as a person, and Rufus loved Fiachra’s companionship in his own way. In terms of what he likes best? Fiachra respects and loves Itha and Fraldarius’ unique landscape. Fraldarius reminds him more of home given it’s closer to Derdriu with a similar ocean climate, and Itha has a completely unique Faerghal charm to it that he can’t say he experiences anywhere else. The Castell and the capital of Itha will always be a second home to him. He got to see both of those things grow under Rufus’ careful hands, and that’s the place where he got to know two people he loved while raising his son. Fraldarius has a comfort in security and the fact that under Rodrigue the house is very pleasant place to work. The people there really don’t judge him for his past (if they know of the Incident) and it just feels good to be trusted and to be able forge strong connections with the people there. His Grace’s family has also never been shy to let Fiachra test his culinary skills, and that is the fastest way to his heart.

With a name like Berahthraben, one may already tell that they are rather eccentric in nature. They are incredibly my-paced and do not care much for other people’s thoughts, though they also avoid getting into physical altercations by fleeing immediately. They tend to be quite aggravating whether they intend to or not, often acting overly-familiar with how they address others as well as constantly making bad jokes, albeit they don’t understand why no one laughs.

Despite their eccentricities, Berahthraben is surprisingly insightful. Living by simple ideals, they can be a reliable shoulder to cry on at times, if they feel like it. They don’t see the point in fussing over small details, and instead like to enjoy as much as they can. They are also quite expressionless, with only eyebrow movements and other physical behaviour to indicate changes in moods.

Overall: Cathan appears to be a tall (5'10") man in good shape for his age and height. He is lightly toned due to occasional exercise (dancing and sex more than training). His skin is pale since he’s usually inside his shaded hideaway or a club. His eyes are a light green, always lined in black or a metallic color. His wavy hair is typically level with his chin and is a copper color. His ears are pointed and pierced. Cathan loves to wear what would be considered clothes from the Romantic era: (open or sheer) shirts with flowing sleeves, low-waisted pants, things with ribbons…all in a nature-inspired palette.

BACKGROUND

Cathan is the “lost” Morgenstern child. He was born to Valentine and Jocelyn prematurely, so weak that hardly anyone thought he’d survive the night. His father had already promised his firstborn to the Seelie in exchange for magical secrets, so Valentine took the boy and gave him to the faerie messenger that night without regret. Jocelyn was told that her son had died and been sent to the Silent City. Meanwhile, Cathan was gifted to a couple Dáire [Daw-ruh] and Fiachra [Ph-yee-kra] by the Seelie Queen. Faerie have a hard time conceiving, so they were happy, especially since they’d received a present from their monarch. Though they loved him, Cathan was initially teased growing up, because everyone knew he was Nephilim. Being raised in the Faerieland gave him pointed ears and the ability to effortlessly wield fey magic. So, although he could use angelic runes, he never did. Instead, he learned to speak the way his new people did, and be beautiful and cruel all at once. The Queen, who occasionally checks on her “nephew”, praises him for his good looks and clever tongue. Sometimes she gives him pretty clothes, jewelry, and paints. He's a prince in every way but the one that matters.

(plot dependent) He learns about his siblings through his people’s gossip. Cathan isn’t sure if he wants to know them, but he does want to kill his Shadowhunter parents. At least, that’s his excuse for going to find them.

PERSONALITY

Overall: Cathan has learned to present himself as a faerie to most and conceal his true self for his lovers. This means that he is hedonistic (which his culture accepts), but he knows how to navigate conversations which typically involve as much small talk as they do veiled insults. He also is not above flirting to get what he wants. His biggest flaw is probably his feelings towards his “aunt”, the Seelie Queen. If, for example, someone insults one of his friends and/or entourage, he won’t acknowledge it in public. He might even laugh it off, because that’s what he’s learned to do, and then he’ll comfort the friend in private. In addition, if there’s a secret he learns, he’ll tell the Queen, because she’s shown him more love than even his parents have on some occasions. He gets exasperated by the whole act of being in public, though, and retreats to his hideaway to paint and relax with his lovers (he’s polyamorous, but he only has feelings for a select few). With them, he’s himself: compassionate, silly, delicate, submissive, and free.
