reading a book right now that is adult but does in many ways read like YA. unlike many reviewers I don't mean that in a derogatory way, but i'm struggling to pin down exactly what's giving me that impression. it doesn't fall back on any of the popular tropes that often makes people say that. the youngest of the protagonists is only eighteen, so some of it's that, but i think also there's something about all of the characters still being under the thumb of adult/parental expectations rather than driving their own choices which gives them a kind of YA powerlessness to create their identities against
but it's not as if that's unrealistic for 20-somethings now, especially with more and more of us living at home for longer due to costs, so being more immediately affected by those expectations. which means i think those category lines in genre/age range do start to blur. and i do think you can explore that theme through a lens that feels more adult, but something about this one doesn't...
... but I can't tell how much that's also just the writing style, which is a peculiar mix of formal and colloquial in a way that ends up hitting as oddly juvenile in places. i don't know. i am finding i am dissecting this book to try to pin down what makes a book feel YA vs adult (having accepted the premise that both categories can contain equally complex and interesting stories), rather than just reading the book for its own sake, which is not the best vibe for a first read, but there's some kind of discrepancy of tone that I'm picking up on that keeps me at arm's length from the story

Going anon out of shame
When I first learned about Danganronpa I was watching my friend play it in my freshman year. She was playing Goodbye despair and as soon as I so much as saw Kazuichi and Hajime together for the first time I immediately said “those two totally fuck.” To this day, almost five years later, I still say that everytime they spend any time together.
Now the million dollar question- What’s your opinion on the ship?
Anon there's something you need to know alright. I'm a HUGE friends to lovers fiend, just an IMMENSE simp for this trope, just go absolutely BONKERS for it. So when I see two dudes being socially awkward bros together you best BELIEVE I will go feral. These two are like pb and jelly. Like Cosmo and Wanda. Like bubblegum underneath a table. Awesome on their own but an absolute UNIT of shenanigans, miscommunication, loyalty and love and that's what makes HinaSouda so garsh darn GREAT!
So in conclusion: yes.

Ahhhhhhhh I never have the spoons to commit to art pieces for the holidays, it seems. I keep forgetting to plan way in advance (something that’s necessary due to ADHD).
I thought it would be cute to do some pics with the fankids for Mother’s Day. Maybe another time. ;u;

⚠️ TW: I know the visuals are hard to look at, but I just had to share how beautiful his singing voice is. Like I was blown away.
This is from the 2015 movie, My Hindu Friend. Willem plays a cancer patient named Diego Fairman and the movie is about his struggles with his disease as well as his rocky marriage and sometimes difficult family. He also strikes up a friendship with a fellow cancer patient that is a little Indian boy. It was a bit hard to watch in some parts, but I did like the movie overall. I recommend if you're into movies that tackle real-world struggles as such.
