really had fun trying to fit more chameleon imagery onto diana with the dots and swirling patterns

had so much trouble figuring out her cutie mark...in the end it's a bunch of makeup tools arranged vaguely like a chameleon. i hope that's evident?

she's arguably one of the ones i had the most fun with designing and maybe the second one where i really tried to break away from relying only on the character canon design for the coat pattern

Just finished Fear Street: Prom Queen, and as others have said it's mediocre at best, which is a shame. There was some interesting stuff going on, but also a lot of meh. Some quick thoughts:

I like the idea of it not having anything supernatural going on, that was a fun twist on what I was expecting. However it also feels like it kinda misses the point that the Shadysiders aren't actually killing each other all the time for no reason by having some Shadysiders kill a bunch of kids for no reason.

Also the Mom was apparently crazy from the start since she killed Lori's dad before Prom was even canceled, so this isn't just her trying to make sure her daughter gets the prom she never had. Doing crazy killers for the sole sake of crazy killers feels so lazy, especially compared to the original trilogy.

It ended way to fast. Lori kills Tiffany and her mom and then it just stops. I feel like if we wanted to stick to the themes of the original but not have anything supernatural going on, maybe we could have done something where the cops show up and don't believe Lori that it was self defense, there by still tying into the idea of prejudice and reputation determining who's story is believed?

What the fuck was up with the dynamic between Melissa and Tiffany, because there was something weird going on there that we did not even begin to unpack.

The mom was stuffing the ballet box anyway, so why not just take that approach? Also if you're killing the girls on Prom night, you're to late. There was nothing stopping the kids from voting for, say, Melissa. Her name was still on the ballet, she just wouldn't have been there to collect.

The "dance battle" was one of the most bizarre things I've seen in a movie in a minute. That can't have actually been a thing people did in the 80's, right?

If this didn't have the Fear Street name attached to it, I would not have even come close to thinking it was connected. Truly felt so different then the others (it's a different writer and director so I'm sure that was a major part of why, but still).

okay following up though... i understand that you are jewish and Israeli but (not trying to attack you, just trying to understand) how can you stand with the state of Israel after seeing the numbers of atrocities that the IDF has committed - of course the hostages should be released, but palestine will cease to exist if this continues and this is an active genocide. people are being displaced and thousands have died. how can you in good conscience stand with the actions of Israel ?

im still assuming this is in good faith! i do appreciate that you're asking and not attacking, it's really nice change of pace tbh. please understand that my ethnicity and my political opinions are not the same thing and how i feel about the state of israel is divorced from my religious beliefs. i just also believe that my people have a right to live in our indigenous land. i also believe palestinians should be able to live in israel (many already do.) anyway, here's the deal.

first, im not israeli, but my family is. i was born and raised in the u.s. while most of my family is israeli, i am not (yet.) im an american jew with strong roots in israel.

second! israelis have been displaced since october, since the attacks by hamas, the governing body of gaza. they've been attacked and killed for years (the whole reason the iron dome exists is because missiles are such an active threat.) getting displaced or killed has happened to israelis and gazans. its terrible for everyone. i am human, and therefore uncomfortable with war, but i don't think it's a genocide. i am horrified by the deaths in gaza. i hate that innocents are being harmed. i don't want to add a however, but there's a big one- it's that the ratio of killed militants v.s civilians is unfathomably low. if israel wanted to kill everyone in gaza (which is 100% not the goal) they would be dead already. the war is active now only to eradicate hamas, which would be beneficial to gazans and israelis, and to rescue the hostages. israel has offered to end the war multiple times and hamas has refused.. because they refuse to return the people they kidnapped. the war could've been over months ago!!! months ago. israel did not instigate this war, and has repeatedly offered ceasefire deals. hamas is the one shooting these offers down. also, palestine wont just cease to exist.. im not sure what that part means, can you explain it? i want to understand you, too.

also. i have cousins in the idf. one of them was supposed to come over before last days on sukkot and couldn't make it in the end. over the weekend, october seventh happened. the next time we spoke, it was a phone call right after simchat torah ended. he was on his way to the airport, having been called back to israel to meet his unit in one of the attacked kibbutzim and start collecting bodies. i only had a few minutes to tell him i love him and to stay alive on behalf of me and my siblings. the memory is so surreal. we turned on our phones for the first time in days to texts from our israeli family saying they were alive, not to watch the videos, not to look at the pictures. im still kind of stuck there on my couch, holding my siblings in a hug and wondering if someone who hadn't texted yet was dead. then we saw people celebrating the massacre. they haven't really stopped. so we knew we couldnt really count on anyone to protect us, and this was way before israel entered gaza. people were just happy jews were dead. don't know if this is a huge sidetrack, but. this is why i stand with israel. their goal is to keep my family alive. their goal is to keep as many gazans as possible alive. that is not the goal of iran and hamas. this goes further than zionism though, tbh. zionism is pretty simple as a principle 😅

👀 bifrost incident stage play????

youve opened pandoras box my friend. get ready

okay so i had this idea back in 2019 when i first got into the mechs and specifically first heard tbi. im a theater kid and have chronic amv/animatic brain where i visualize things real easy, so when i first listened to this album i was SLAMMED with the realization that, actually, tbi is PERFECT for a stage adaptation

imagine, if you will:

inspector lyf, at his desk side-stage and in front of the curtains. stalking across the stage, talking direct to the audience as he waves the black box, setting the stage and the story ahead and theorizing as to whats going on

the first chords of odins launch speech are heard, and the curtains open wide on the exterior of the train, odin at a podium, and a crowd listening intently

during each of lyfs speaking parts (cold case/person of interest/etc), he walks across the stage and explains things, as the set changes behind him. new characters arrive, spotlights shining as lyf wonders what theyre doing there, if they were the one that sabotaged the train

in the style of kabuki theater, the stagehands are dressed all in black, silently moving the set around the actors, changing things and completely invisible, the audience accustomed to ignoring them at this point

lokis song comes, and the whole time she sings, she is beset by these stagehands, dragging her around like another set piece, harassing her, interacting with her but still invisible to everyone else. sigyn tries to get her attention during her song, tries to pull her into their wedding dance- but the stagehands keep pulling loki into dances of their own, all while sigyn has no idea why her wife wont so much as look at her

losing track, lyf is losing track and the suspects are lined up onstage, singing, taunting as lyf stalks among them, grabbing their arms and faces and demanding answers. as he loses his mind, falling into despair, they turn to him and grab him back, pull him down, yell the only words they have left at him as he despairs.

the live band is dressed in theme, all steampunk-ed up, on a mini stage off opposite lyf with minimal lighting on them, until- expert testimony comes by, lyf bemoans having to go to the imprisoned bandits that annoy him so, as he crosses the stage, only for the lights to rise on the band and guess who theyve been the whole time!

red signal. lyf stands center stage, frozen in place as he chants, summoning that squamous something from beyond the veil, as those stagehands, all-black, all-invisible, shift and change before the audiences eyes, pulling out rainbow scarves, makeup once hidden shining bright and vivid in sudden black light. they dash off the stage as the rip between worlds widens, run amok the audience, slamming through doors and screeching as lyf voice raises higher, higher, until-

intermission

and when the audience comes back, the stage is... wrong

more black light, the set has warped and twisted. rainbow lights shimmer brighter on the backdrop, splashing in pools on the stage and the actors faces. the stagehands run free now, the monsters from behind the veil, the unholy things now attacking the actors directly, tearing them apart as the train falls into chaos

thor confronts the all-mother, transformed; she stands at the top of a podium now, the top of a platform while her costume has expanded around her, grandiose robes melting into a massive, writhing puppet manned by the stagehands, a bright and staring eye projected behind her head, staring at the audience, watching. thor fights off the hands, loses, and finally throws his hammer at the eye- replaced with a bright, white crack as the stars claim them both

loki and sigyn share a final tender moment in the engine room, they get their dance in before sigyn slips the line into her wifes arm. they share a final kiss as the curtains close on them, leaving...

lyf, standing center-stage. bottle in hand, exhausted, terrified. he bids the audience good luck, laughs wryly about the bandits disappearing - at some point, the live band quietly disappeared from their side-stage - and slips behind the curtain

the radio static fizzes, and as we hear the panic spread across the galaxy, the curtains part for bows. the bell tolls, flashing that bright, staring eye back as all other lights go off, plummeting everyone into dark and stark relief

I've been looking at your art with Jin Guangyao like million times and noticed that his face features kinda fluctuate on different non-chibi drawings. Curious if you just like trying different designs or does this just reflect changing with age (he's almost a teenager as Meng Yao and a fully grown adult after the timeskip after all), and generally if you have any particular headcanons on his appereance?

Sorry, I'm just a little (or not a little) obsessed with character design XD

ha ha ha man I wish I could give a cool answer about how yeah, you totally saw through me, I am definitely intentionally making little fluctuations to mark the passage of time etc etc, except I'm tragically not 😅 The closest is that while he's Deputy Meng Yao I do try to make him a little more... optimistic? Give him a bit more youthful pride and confidence that he's finally succeeding and might have a chance to get what he wants? So I guess that ages him a bit between Meng Yao and Jin Guangyao, in theory... but when I'm not drawing silly comics, things just tend fluctuate and I'm not always very good at sticking to one look (I like trying different things!) All I can do is hope my art continues to improve... they're certainly never hiring me for animation or anything that requires consistency!

My headcanons about his appearance that I do try to keep in mind but might not come across in my art:

I almost always try to give him a somewhat round face, or at least rounded cheeks, I'm not sure why but I imagine him with quite a soft looking face... youthful, even as he gets older, and I think he'd be willing to play into that

I usually draw him smiling (because if something has made him show a distinctly different emotion he's probably alone or shit's popping off) and I'll often add dimples as part of my JGY Visual Shorthand (along with critical things like Goofy Hat)

WWX was able to see the goddess statue carved to look like Meng Shi and assume it was a statue of JGY, so I assume he has fairly delicate, almost feminine features -- she was supposed to be beautiful and he looks like her, ergo he must be pretty!

I imagine him with very straight hair, and I think he found this mildly frustrating with the Nie who I usually give more of a wave to -- his hair doesn't hold braids as easily as the Nie brothers! Frustrating when he's trying to fit in!

(listen I know the braids are a show thing not a book canon thing but I will die on this hill) I subscribe to him keeping his Nie braids under his hat you can't take this from me

This doesn't come across in my art because I just do whichever is more fun or fits the comic requirements at the time, but I imagine while Meng Yao / new to the Jin, he wore cuffs at his wrists, anything to keep his sleeves back, for pure practicality's sake. As sect leader I like to imagine he doesn't, and goes for the long, billowing sleeves and more layers as something of a status symbol: he doesn't need to worry about dragging them through dirt or blood or ink anymore!

What do you think of martin blackwood? I mean not like "aww so cute soft gayboy" or "hot sexy revenge killer" or anything like that, what's your opinion of martin blackwood as a character?

I prefer not to reduce him to either of those things.

Martin Blackwood is really important to me as a character.

He's a socially anxious dork with low self-esteem who cares too much for people who can't or won't return the favor. It sorta always gave me the impression that he felt he would be worth something as long as he made himself palatable and useful to those around him.

I mean, hell, he basically martyred himself to Peter Lukas to protect Jon.

But he's kindhearted and genuine to the extent of his comfort, and while he's certainly got a side to him that's much less gentle and non-threatening than he presents, so do all of us. I think that's incredibly important and makes him more 3-dimensional. It humanizes him.

Golden retriever-coded, but like. Actually. Fiercely loyal and wholeheartedly loving, and will Cut A Bitch if you fuck with him or his. We see that he performs quite well under pressure, too. He's willing to get shit done if he has to (never forget the corkscrew he brought for the worms.) Plus he has a strong sense of justice, which is what ultimately leads him to his murder arc, beyond (I'm sure) a personal sense of vindication for his torment at the hands of Peter, of course.

I dunno. It's the neuroses, dissociative tendencies and profound sense of isolation from the world around him for me. Not to mention the petty streak he doesn't like to admit to. He's just like me fr.

10/10 guy. Why is he like that. I cry every time.

I think it's interesting the way children's autonomy and adult autonomy go hand in hand, and the way the ongoing attack on trans people makes this relationship more obvious than ever (at least to me). republicans were recorded discussing their "endgame" of banning transgender care for everyone regardless of age, and in it they rationalize these previous years' focus on banning transgender care for minors by claiming it's just because they need to "take small bites" in the campaign towards their end goal. they blatantly state that they do not think anyone, regardless of age, can consent to gender transition, but only with minors is it so socially acceptable to claim they aren't capable of consent.

because of this widespread idea that children are not capable of consenting to anything, or capable of expressing any form of autonomy, and because of the idea that they are a second class of citizens beneath adults (and often more specifically: beneath their parents, who they are the "property" of), children become the ideal target for this kind of political action. these republicans knew people were less likely to question it if they infringed the rights of children, so that's why they started their ongoing attack on transgender people with an attack on trans children.

the revelations of this audio recording should not be surprising to anyone who's been paying attention, but personally this drives home the idea to me that in order to protect both children and adults we as a society need to reframe the way we view the autonomy of children. I don't know the perfect solution here, but the way children are currently viewed is clearly dangerous, and as LGBT people we need to be more proactive allies to children because our struggles go hand in hand and always have.

Would it be accurate to describe legacy Jay as a ‘crouching moron hidden badass’?

There's definitely parallels, but to me Jay's only ever purposefully stupid to put others at ease or lower enemy's guards or to lie to himself, but he's not naturally bumbling (like, say, Show!Dareth). Aside from lapses in judgement here and there (which basically all the mains are pone to), Jay himself isn't an inherent moron, just some of his behaviors.

Overall, I'd pin him more under Beware the Silly Ones actually

Some more Killer Klowns headcanons

These goofy silly guys have me in a choke hold send help Might Delete Later~

Tw: Discussion of sickness (serious sickness - rabies), Klown weaponry / death, and NSFW at the very end.

- Klowns CAN get sick. Regular flu and cold symptoms can easily be taken care of (like the day they get sick), but they have a version of Rabies, and it's spread just like how human rabies is spread (being bitten by an infected animal). It's incurable, and it makes them Supreme Frantic ™️. They sweat a lot, getting extremely warm within a few minutes of getting bitten. They vomit a lot, and their eyes water really badly/ they'll have a deep purple hue to their eyes (basically bleeding from the eyes). The final form of this is cannibalism, where they go completely nuts and try to bite every living thing that comes near them (including other Klowns) with the intention to kill them and eat them. This is not a common occurrence, and it's always noticed far before it gets too wild. But just like with humans, it's terrifying for Klowns, too. This is the ONE sickness that brings Klown doctors to tears. The Klown that gets infected, depending on when they're caught, is either mercy killed (bc this illness is also super painful for the subject) or they're studied. Klowns are desperate for a cure for this, even if it's not too common.

- Klowns are super buoyant in water. Water rolls right off of them, so it's near impossible for them to drown. If they're put in water, their skin releases an oily substance that keeps water away from them. They still can't swim for shit. They just flail and float. They love the beach, though, because they take little dust baths like chinchillas. If, for some reason, they're put in water and they get wet (oil deficiency), water can be super harmful to their skin.

- Some Klowns, for research purposes (Rudy would probably do something like this), will sneak over to Earth during the fall and pretend to be a scare clown at a haunted house. They go in small groups to take notes on what scares humans and how they react to being scared. They learned very quickly: Fall is for scares, Winter is for jollier clowns dressed in reds and white, and any other time, regular circus clowns are more common. They could go during any time to research humans, but they find it easier to fit in when everything is centered around scary. It's more of a safe than sorry thing.

- Klowns make their own weapons and can make weapons out of. Literally anything. There are specific Klowns who specialize in rerouting weaponry and teaching others how to use it. One way to know it's a Klown weapon is how colorful it is ☺️ they also really like being creative with their weapons. *Klowns using a weapon against another Klown is a death sentence, UNLESS it can be proven it was an accident* if it was an accident, however, said Klown gets banned from using weaponry permanently. They also can't go out in the field if they choose to go on another invasion. They'll be in charge of looking after the popkorn on the ship, probably forced to stay close to either another Klown or the big boss.

- Klowns do have holidays. They have a holiday that celebrates when the invaders come back to their planet (like a one day event, but it celebrates the invaders). They have one kind of like Halloween, except it's a half year long celebration. They have one that is about the older Klowns, and they have one celebrating new/ younger Klowns. These are all separate days (sometimes months long), and sometimes their holidays are random. Just a huge party on their planet for the most mundane things.

- Klowns have movies and televisions. They're more advanced than human tvs, being incredibly thin, lightweight, and can adjust to light. Their version of entertainment mostly comes from Klown drama, Klown circus acts, and Klown made horror films.

- All Klowns like having their nails painted. Whether they're male or female, it's a form of bonding to them. Their nails are so tiny, though, so ya gotta be careful. They take dust baths, though, so a full-on spa day might not be ideal. I like to think Klowns take dust baths to clean them from other planet parasites and to help them not get sunburned during the day.

- Klowns hide their penises in a pouch under their lower belly area when not in use, so it looks like they don't have genitals on a regular basis. They can inflate and deflate like the female Klown breasts to impress mates. When they're erect, Klown penises look thicker than human penises, and a tad bit bigger than human penises (because Klowns compared to humans are bigger anyways, being 7+ ft tall). Their penis are covered in light (non-harmful) barbs to help them stimulate their mates, helping in reproduction. Males can control their erections and the females can control when their breasts inflate.

- Male Klown cum sticks inside the female. It still has a watery slime texture, but the way the females are built, it hardens and sticks when ejected. Also helping in reproduction. Human mates are a bit harder for this to happen, and it's the reason it's a bit harder for them to mate. If a Klown stays inside for a bit afterwards, the cum will eventually harden after a few minutes, whereas female Klowns - it's immediate. If a male Klowns cum is exposed to air, it keeps the watery appearance and they cum a good amount each time. It looks and feels just like watery slime.

- Until Klowns have mates, they don't really engage in sexual activities (with other Klowns or themselves).

- Because of the last point, when Klowns do mate, they drool uncontrollably. Part of the reason is to use their saliva as a lubricant, and the other reason is because they can't handle their pleasure levels. Expect lots of drooling, guttural throat noises (growling, hissing, grunting, exct.), and aggressive behavior. They can't help it. They're gonna scratch and bite, and they're gonna be a fountain of saliva. Klowns in general are pretty drooly, but during..the ✨️ act ✨️ it's excessive.

- If a Klown male successfully reproduces with a human female and they make a child, Klown males and females are equally involved in their mate and child's life. Klowns insist their pregnant mate stay in the home the majority of the pregnancy, and they bring things to them. Things that would make them more comfortable (like soft blankets and fun games or puzzles to keep them busy) and TONS of food. Female Klowns might bring their pregnant lover toys for the baby and flowers or balloons for their mate.

- It's possible for Klowns to change their sex. They can easily go from male to female and vice versa. Some Klowns even opted to have both genitals (not as common, but it's possible)
