Ooooh, nooooo, I just realized something.
Gast Faramis was the only decent scientist in Shinra, with noble intentions and who treated child Sephiroth well and as a child, not a mere scientific experiment and a weapon. He seems to be the only person Sephiroth emotionally connected to before he met Genesis and Angeal. Even years later when adult Sephiroth is falling apart, he calls Gast's name who he hasn't seen in years.
Tumblr media
And then we have:
Hojo killed Gast.
Hojo (indirectly) killed Ifalna, Gast's partner.
Sephiroth - Hojo's son, killed Aerith - Gast and Ifalna's daughter.
Sephiroth didn't just kill Aerith - Sephiroth and his family completely wiped out Aerith's family. And Sephiroth didn't even realize. He still respected Gast at the time of OG Final Fantasy VII.
How many tragedies can they write into one game series?

We've had a long-running (dumb) joke in our house that Aeris was really selling "flowers" in the slums... so that's where this one came from.
Gonna have prints of this one, too! I’ll be selling them soon in my online shop and at ClarksvilleCon on March 18th. If you’re in the area, come see me!
EDIT: Prints are available here!

Chapter 2 Update - Crimson Crescent
Tumblr media
Crimson Crescent (7462 words) by TerraCrystallis Chapters: 2/? Fandom: Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VII (Video Game 1997), Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII Rating: Explicit Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence, Major Character Death Relationships: Cloud Strife/Vincent Valentine, Sephiroth & Cloud Strife Characters: Cloud Strife, Vincent Valentine, Hojo (Compilation of FFVII), Lucrecia Crescent, Sephiroth (Compilation of FFVII), Jenova (Compilation of FFVII), Rufus Shinra, Tseng (Compilation of FFVII), Reno (Compilation of FFVII), Rude (Compilation of FFVII), Aerith Gainsborough, Zack Fair, Tifa Lockhart, Cid Highwind, Chaos (Compilation of FFVII) Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Alternate Timelines, Falling In Love, Partnership, Smut, Yaoi, Diverging from canon, Alternate Timeline, Sci-Fi
Series: Part 1 of Crimson Crescent Series Summary:
[M/M Pairing] Written as an alternate story that runs parallel to beginning of OG FFVII, Vincent Valentine has been submerged and unconscious for thirty years in the Shin-Ra lab. When he awakes, physiologist Cloud Strife helps him return to good health. All are oblivious of the true reason that Vincent has mysteriously returned to Shin-Ra after all of this time. That secret remains between himself and Hojo, while the full truth rests with another. Despite the disparaging state he wakes up in, Vincent is increasingly drawn to Cloud and seeks to protect him, knowing the threats of working at Shin-Ra better than anyone else. Their roles at Shin-Ra complicate the nature of their romance - Hojo thinks Vincent has forgotten the events of Shin-Ra mansion, yet he reserves his own plans for the state of Hojo and Shin-Ra, with Cloud beginning to question his own place at Shin-Ra as well. This story assumes that the Nibelheim incident has not occurred yet, causing Vincent to meet Cloud in a different way, and their adventure to unfold under a different 'timeline.' It also seeks to answer questions like "What if Sephiroth hadn't turned as suddenly as he did in the OG?" Chapter 1 | Chapter 2

I’m so sorry to bother you with this. I have a question about the original FFVII game. I’m currently playing the PlayStation One version and I’m trying to get Clouds Ultima weapon.
I’ve read in walkthrough guides you need to defeat Ultimate Weapon, however I’m not sure where this creature is located. I’m currently on disc two and have the whole party, the Highwind and Bugenhagen just joined and is on the airship.
Guides and videos I’ve used give best strategies how to defeat Weapon but not how to find or when in the game they can be fought again? You seem very knowledgeable about FFVII, could you lend me any advice/assistance? I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much.
No problem!
So I’m assuming you’ve fought UW in the crater to east of Junon and he bailed, right?
Tumblr media
^ If you fought him here and he’s gone, then he’s started flying around the map at random. You have to chase him in the Highwind and smash into him until he fights you and bails again.

If you are playing the port of OG FFVII that has the 3x movement speed cheat built in, consider turning it off. A lot of people (including me!) find it harder to catch him in air with that cheat on. I personally turn it off once I actually see him (bc I don’t have the patience for scouring the world for him at regular speed lol.)
Keep bumping into him and eventually he’ll start moving towards Mideel, Mt. Nibel, North Corel, Gongaga, Ft. Condor, Midgar, or the Northern Crater. It’s random, but I’m pretty positive he never goes anywhere outside of the general vicinity of those areas.
Once you get him down to like 1/4 health (like 20-25k hp) he will always move toward Cosmo Canyon for the final encounter:
Tumblr media
Not a bother btw. I love seeing people play the original game. If I can help with anything else, lmk! (:
(Side note: It’s pretty normal for this shit to take a while, btw. It’s not a skill issue — I’ve played OG VII to death at this point, and this part is always the longest single segment of the game for me lol. The best thing I can tell you to do to make it easier is to throw everything plus the kitchen sink at him from the first encounter onward. He doesn’t heal up between run-ins so it’s the best way to cut down on total chase time. You should get the Long Range Materia from the Mythril Mines if you plan on using a melee character as well. A lot of these fights will take place on the deck of the Highwind, and melee characters like Tifa won’t be able to do shit to help you without it.)

The chocobo chicks are so friend-shaped!! The most correct thing Rebirth did was let us pet them.
[Image Description: Digital artwork featuring various Final Fantasy VII characters in their OG designs paired with chocobo chicks from Rebirth. From left-to-right, top-to-bottom: 1) Cloud kneels in front of a Nibel chocobo, holding its face. 2) Barret grins as he holds a Corel chocobo in his arms. 3) Tifa kneels in front of a Grasslands chocobo.
4) Aeris sits beside a Costa del Sol chocobo, pumping her fist as it jumps upward. 5) Marlene sits beside a Grasslands chocobo as it grooms her bangs. 6) Yuffie hugs a Junon chocobo.
7) Nanaki sits cuddling with a Cosmo chocobo. 8) Cid runs side-by-side with a blue chocobo. 9) Zack lifts a Gongaga chocobo into the air.
10) Cait Sith rides a Corel chocobo. 11) Vincent lays his cape over a sleeping Nibel chocobo. 12) A seated Sephiroth cautiously lifts his hand to scratch a Nibel chocobo's cheek. /end ID]

Why do people in Final Fantasy VII fandom insult each other over different interpretations of any one small scene, and call developers - who have been getting about 2 hour of sleep per day for the last 10 years - lazy, and have ship wars, and get enraged at everything that's different from original game, and hate new voice actors, and hate fans who hate new voice actors, and call people stupid for not agreeing with their wild speculations definitive statements about the third part which doesn't even exist yet, and call other fans names and insult them because they don't agree with them over the smallest detail, and always upvote the most negative hot take on every video and reddit thread, and try to make everyone feel angry and miserable, and hate Genesis, and hate Zack, and hate Yuffie, and hate Whispers, and hate, hate, hate, hate...
When we could all instead just gush over how perfect Zack Fair is? 🥰

Love Penalty (Crimson Crescent series update)

Love Penalty (2158 words) by TerraCrystallis Chapters: 1/? Thank you so much. Apparently my question was too long to leave as a reply, I’m so sorry.
The issues I’m having is this: The area I’m in is the inside Northern Cave. Cloud is using Imperial guard armor. I have Cloud equipped with linked added effect to Odin (both mastered). Yuffie is equipped with Mystile armor and has linked added effect to master magic and Cid has Imperial guard with linked added effect and destruct. However, when facing Master Tonberry’s and them using everyone’s grudge, this always kills off Cloud and Yuffie but never Cid.
I’ve read in guides online that Odin linked with added effect protect against death when linked on armor. And master magic has destruct spells on it so I figured putting that on armor would also protect against death. It seems it’s not working because both Cloud and Yuffie are instantly killed by everyone’s grudge and Cid never is affected by it because it always misses. Am I doing something wrong? I’m so sorry to have such a long written question.
THIS DIDN’T SHOW UP IN MY ASKS UNTIL I WENT TO THE INBOX I AM SO SORRY. I kept looking for your comment/reply and didn’t think to check my inbox. :(
From what I remember, picking up the Death Force skill on the Enemy Skill Materia and/or using the Safety Bit accessory protect anyone in your party from the instant death/Death Knife attack. Resist can also give you temporary immunity because the death knife attack will just dispel Resist and won’t cause an instant kill.
You can’t actually avoid/block Everyone’s Grudge to my knowledge by any means (from experience at least — I’ll double check and edit this if I see something viable), but you can inflict Stop and/or Paralysis to avoid the attack entirely.
Also if you have Morph you can turn Master To berry’s into ribbons, which are super worth it.
