I wasn't actually going to do day 3 because I couldn't come up with an idea that didn't have Cove in the spotlight 😂 but inspiration hit me at the last minute so this one was a bit of a rush job, my apologies. On the plus side, Ai's little sailor onsie will forever give me life so that was a delight to work on. She had huge aspirations to become one when she was a kid - always wanted to be on a ship and had a lot of sailor themed things in her room (even tried to stow away on a ship once and actually succeeded, but only for a day before someone found her out LOL, the moms were not pleased). As you can guess though, meeting Mr. Shark-man Holden and his sea themed son was the highlight of her youth 🤣 she's had many long and very serious conversations with Cliff about buying a boat. He almost caved when Cove came in for back up but the moms brought up the stow away story and that sobered him up pretty damn quick LMAO Now, on a more personal moment here. I imagine you're referring to the second gift that Cove gives you? Because if so, then yes, you're correct! In fact, all three gifts that Cove gives the MC over the course of the three outings are based on your choices throughout the game on at least some level.

The first gift, for example, which is given after Cove arrives at the door on the morning of your first outing with him, is dependent on multiple factors. If you've told Cove your favorite flower in Long Day, are at Crush/Love with Cove, and are not dating Baxter, Cove will give you that flower. If instead you're Fond with Cove, dating Baxter, and/or didn't pick a favorite flower in Long Day, then Cove will give you a gift based on your hobby. The hobby chosen is whatever you picked last when talking to Kyra in the Step 2 intro, or whatever you picked last in the Step 3 intro if you chose that you were into new hobbies rather than sticking to the old ones.

The second gift - the one you mentioned - that's given after Cove arrives at the door before the second outing is indeed based on what objects you have in your bedroom. Some objects also take priority over others, with plants and framed paintings being near the bottom.

The third gift that's given after Cove sneaks through the window before the third outing, regardless of if the MC planned a surprise in return or not, is based on your plans for the future. Specifically, if you applied anywhere, are planning on staying local, and if you told Cove or not.

SO, I usually don't get too involved in fandom discourse, but with how Baxter fans are acting about the loss in the MDDB I snapped and decided we should have a talk.

And look, I want to say that I get the appeal, I do, but I don't because Baxter's route is genuinely the worst written one out of the three; Compared to Cove's and Derek's (and Derek treatment in the fandom is a WHOLE OTHER ISSUE) is really not. I'm not here to judge one taste, I am here to tell you that your love for him is ridiculous.

It is genuinely ridiculous how much popular he has gotten and so many of you are forgetting about Cove and how important he is to the story, and generally how he is important to a lot of marginalized people. Some of you keep forgetting that Cove is autistic and demiseuxal and that is such a rare representation to see and it is already erased in the fandom (especially his autism), but now is even more erased because people are grabbing everything that makes Cove Cove, and are applying it to Baxter.

That is also not touching the fandom treatment of Derek and how overly criticize his route his compared to Baxter's, like...DEREK'S PARENTS ARE GETTING MORE SHIT THAT BAXTER CANONICAL BIGOTED PARENTS LOL, WHAT IS THIS?? Are you guys serious?? I've seen a fanfic with Irene being transphobic, why the fuck would someone write that when Baxter's mom is right there?

And Derek shitty treatment doesn't end here because people are straight up erasing the guy and not ?? talking about on how well written he is ?? Baxter is so talked about that people are more interested in him making a cameo in OL:N&F than the main characters of that game, THAT'S HOW THINGS HAVE GOTTEN, We've gotten to a point where people cares more about some white man than Qiu or Tamarack, which are way more interesting than him as characters but neither of them are white skinny man so lol, who cares about them.

Listen. Listen. All of Step 4 versions could canonically take place during the same summer, right next to each other. Derek's Step 4 takes place first. Father's day in America is on the third Sunday in June, so in 2021 that would be June 20th.

Moms wedding anniversary is referenced multiple times in Derek's Step 4, as an event happening a few weeks later.

Then Cove's Step 4 takes place during the anniversary, a few days before and after the event. Taking the estimated time period, their party would be happening in June, i'd say around the middle of the month, maybe closer to the beginning.

Derek makes an appearance here too!

One of my friends made me play "Our Life: Beginnings & Always" last summer and I have no regrets. I have played through the whole goddamn thing 3 times over from then til now, and got married to Cove, three times over.

This probably isn't healthy. Will I play it a 4th time? yes I will.
