Genuinely surprised that no one's written an Omega Light fic where he uses Alpha Matsuda as a sort-of beard because he's the only one Light trusts completely and who he believes would never betray him. He asks Matsuda to claim him because he's sick and tired of everyone bothering him about getting mated and it's very much a claiming of convenience and he tells Matsuda as much.... Light happens to love his children like his own though and this makes for some very sweet dynamics. The relationship between L and Light here is electric and spicy. Definitely cannot recommend this fic enough thinking about it makes me want to read it all over again.

For the first time since Naomi's death L is in love, desperately in love, with his assistant Light Yagami. But Light is unwilling to take things to the next level until L untangles his grief from Naomi's loss and mends his fractured relationships with the people left behind.

IT’S 2003, FOLKS!!!

Can I just stress that “nyak” means something similar to “ew” in the Filipino language? It’s just so funny to me. They omitted the k in the BLCD, but I will never let it go. It’s STAR★NYAKS to me until the day I die, Sakyo Aya. Also, idk if my memory serves me right, but this, surprisingly, is the healthiest Sakyo Aya pair to date? They’re not exactly that dumb for each other, and I loved how Hana was only in it for the underwear the first few chaps, while Renjaku-san wasn’t overly possessive, unlike most of the Kuroneko Kareshi tops. Hana also wasn’t an annoying tsundere! Hallelujah! Nakamura Shungiku character development when? Renjaku-san turning domestic was such a shocker to me too! The very first time I’ve ever wanted a Sakyo Aya top since Ei. 

Anyway, enough about the plot. This review’s highlight is, of course, the VAs ‘cause this was undoubtedly ROBBED in last year’s awards.

I will never get tired of saying this, but

MY RINTAROU-KUN IS BACCCCKKKKK!!!

I wasn’t too keen at first, as his voice was a little too high for Hana, but he quickly grew on me. You really gotta give it to Shinshokan when it comes to casting. 👏👏👏 Hearing Takuma in a Sakyo Aya was just such a blast to the past, man. I couldn’t ask for more. If y’all wanna hear what old school pron sounds like in a modern setting, look no further. I’m sorry, SatoTaku and Sonna ni Iu, but this is Takuma’s best performance of 2021, and it’s with none other than rookie TADOKORO HINATA!

YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND! IT’S BEEN NINE YEARS SINCE WE’VE EVER HAD SOMEONE OF THIS RANGE DEBUT AS A BL SEIYUU!!! The last was Hamano Daiki in 2014, and he’s not even that active outside Yarichin nowadays. 😩 And, I know that I have a bad habit of looking for a rookie’s soundalike senpai, BUT TADOKORO DOESN’T HAVE ANY!!! HE A RARE BREED! A GIFT FROM THE GODS!!! He’s like a deeper TsudaKen with a clear diction like OnoYuu with a side of Suwabe suave~ YA KNOW WHAT I MEAN??? But that’s just diction and range! HE REALLY DOESN’T SOUND LIKE ANYONE I’VE EVER HEARD BEFORE!!! AAAAAAAAAAAA

I’m just so proud. I’ve been supporting him since his first official supporting role in Memento Scarlet and have always expressed my wish to see him in a lead role in every review since and here we are now. 

And how was his performance in his debut role, you might ask? Fucking perfect ✨ It can’t get any better than that. He really saw that wig and snatched it! Listen, Takuma’s a Gen 2 veteran who has his own rhythm that can swallow you whole if you’re not too careful. Nakajiki fell victim to that back in Hidoku Shinaide, and he was a top there, so it was going to be harder on Tadokoro here ‘cause bottoming was Takuma’s forte! He not only stood his ground, but he owned that Takuma ass so well. 😭 Granted, Tadokoro has some experience in the anime industry, but he’s honestly done better than the recent Takeuchi Ryouta, Matsuda Kenichirou, and Hamada Kenji comebacks when they’re supposed to be more experienced. UGH. SO MUCH POTENTIAL WITH THIS ONE. I DON’T GET WHY HE DIDN’T GET AN AWARD!!! HE WAS ROBBED ISTG!!! He doesn’t have anything lined up for 2022 yet, but I’m gonna eye his profile like a hawk and have a fund ready just for him. He’d do great in a Haji! If they only adapted their works

We have stellar plot execution, AMAZING VOICE WORK AND CHEMISTRY, and overall faithful following of the manga. I read PCB’s scans before this was licensed by SuBLime, and I’m not sure if they used the magazine or tanko raws, but there was a bit of a jumble with the sequencing of the events in the BLCD. I’m leaning towards the former, though, so I highly suggest getting a copy of the SuBLime version if you plan to have a read-along. If you’re a fan of this series, I implore you to listen to this. It’s one of the best adaptations of 2021. Don’t listen to chil-chil. AND TO EVERY TADOKORO, VETERAN, AND WHALE TRASH OUT THERE, GET THIS. GET THIS!!!

4. 🧭An alternative title to your/ one of your WIP(s)?

you know, I rarely ever title my works-in-progress. usually i give them temp titles that are just descriptions, like "android sex fic" or "omegaverse cell masturbation." actually, i only have one WIP with a title that already got used by a different author's fic: take two, which is going to be the sequel to the Matsuda/L fic I did.

oh geez ... i've got a lot of small fics in the fire right now, but one that i've retooled a lot is Light's Perfect Plan. I originally wanted to go with a Kira Wins AU but I've ended up going toward a different conclusion.

I have NO idea how to approach the heat scene with any of my omega L fics. It's so hard to walk the line of sweet horny action and an in-character L. I dunno, man, it's going. As much as I love the twisty ideas of omegaverse, I ultimately have no interest in breeding biz, lol.

“I can’t believe you talked me into this,” Matsuda muttered under his breath as you walked towards a shopping centre, several paces behind Light and his friends as you not so subtly kept him under observation.

“We’ve both been so focused on the Kira case recently, and this is the only time I could think to try this out,” you replied with a grin. “I bought this like six months ago now, and I figured it was time to try it. You know the safeword if things go too far.”

“We’re both going to get fired,” Matsuda sighed, resigned to it. “To do something like this while we’re supposed to be observing a suspect. If we get caught, I’ll never be able to look the chief in the eye again.”

You snorted and linked arms with him to try and lift his spirits.

“It’s fine, it’s not like Light is going to decide to go on a killing spree suddenly or whatever L thinks he’s going to do,” you dismissed L’s concerns easily. Despite his assertion that Light was guilty of something, it wasn’t like you or the rest of the task force really believed him. He was the chief’s kid! How would he even kill all those people? You shook your head to clear your thoughts, that was a matter for later.

“As long as we’re subtle, we’ll be fine,” you soothed, using your linked arms to pull him closer. Matsuda smiled a little and bumped his hip against yours affectionately.

Using the affection as a distraction, you snuck your unlinked hand into your pocket, and switched the remote vibrator on to the maximum setting.

The reaction was instantaneous.

Matsuda yelped and folded, tripping over a raised section of concrete on the pavement. You hastily used your linked arms to pull him upright again, turning off the remote as you did.

A couple of Light’s friends glanced back at you both, but you waved them away with a quick smile.

Matsuda steadied himself and turned a rather adorable glare towards you. The flush on his face stopped any intimidating factor that he might have had.

“When I said subtle, my love, that wasn’t really what I meant,” you teased, pulling him back to link your arms again.  

You could feel Matsuda’s glare against the side of your head, but you simply laughed. This little day trip was already turning out to be a lot more fun than originally thought.

…

Light and his friends had eventually decided to stop for lunch at a popular café on the edge of a nearby park, so you and Matsuda were awkwardly sitting together at an adjacent table, trying to strike the balance between observation and privacy.

During the last hour, you had been teasing Matsuda relentlessly. Twice in the manga shop, once in the sweet shop, and continuously in the clothes shop. His faced showed it. Flushed and sweating a little too much for the mild heat and minimal exercise they’d done. One of Light’s friends had inquired as to whether Matsuda was ill or not, much to Matsuda’s horror and your amusement.

But now, sitting in the café together, you were ready to finish the little game.

“Are you two ready to order?”

You nodded towards Matsuda to order first, but the second he opened his mouth, you turned the vibrator on to the lowest setting.

He stumbled over his words, flushing a lot, but eventually managed to grind out ‘rice noodle salad’ to the confused waiter.

“I’ll have the same,” you smiled, trying to reassure the confused waiter, who nodded and fled the table as fast as was professional. The second he turned away, Matsuda kicked you under the table.

“I’m so embarrassed,” he muttered.

“But hard,” you countered, smirking.

“Not so loud,” Matsuda hissed in return.

You just laughed and Matsuda went to take a sip of water to cool down. Of course, the second he lifted the glass to his lips, you turned the settings all the way up.

Matsuda jolted, dropping the glass, his thighs clenching together, and his eyebrows furrowed. Water covered the table, and before you had time to intervene, the glass rolled off the table and shattered into pieces on the floor. You quickly turned off the vibrator now that the attention of the entire room had settled on you and Matsuda. Not to mention, you didn’t want him to hurt himself by accident on the glass while he was distracted.

The glass had well and truly shattered, scattering several pieces under neighbouring tables.

Whoops.

The waiter rushed back to the table, probably hiding his disdain for you behind a professional mask. But luck was on your side today, because you and your mate were quickly ushered to a different table, a much more private booth in the corner of the café.

Perfect.

From the moment Matsuda sat down, you turned the vibrator on to the lowest setting, randomly spiking it whenever you felt like it. And now that it wasn’t so obvious that everyone could see you, Matsuda was slowly reaching the end of his tether, scooting closer and closer to you with every spike, panting lowly, squirming and whining.

“We are both definitely going to get fired,” Matsuda whined into your ear, now as close to you as he could be without sitting on your lap. You could feel the heat of his body pressed against you, and you couldn’t help but turn the vibrator up a notch, causing Matsuda to bury his face into your shoulder to supress the moans.

“Relax,” you murmured into his ear, turning the vibrator up again. “No one’s going to find us as long as you stay quiet, baby.”

Although, on second thought, it looked like restraining himself from rutting on your leg might be hurting more. Perhaps turning the vibrator up to maximum would help push him along.

Matsuda flinched, gripping onto your clothes at the sudden increase, drooling onto your shoulder from behind a hand that he’d pressed against his mouth to keep himself quiet. Even though the vibrator was still lodged firmly inside him, you could hear the quiet murmur of the vibrations now, although thankfully, the other patrons would be very unlikely to notice the sounds over the din of the café.

i'll split this into two parts, my thoughts on a/b/o as a whole & my headcannons for it

tw for the low tier in my thoughts, dark things that are unfortunately common in omegaverse (r*pe, abuse, drugging, etc)

Part One: Thoughts

i have read omegaverse before, it's practically a staple in any fandom. that being said there is definitely a tier of what is a good a/b/o fic & what isn't. all in my opinion, so i'm not judging the people that read "low tier", it's just not my cup of tea.

high tier- alphas, betas, and omegas all stay true to their personality or character, dynamics are seen as more of a gender & about as important as hair or eye color. omegas can function in society alone & be successful, alphas can be homemakers, etc, it all depends on the person. heats & ruts are inconvenient, sure, but it doesn't drug the person & make them useless for a week. just about any pairing has a chance at romance, not just alphas & omegas or two betas.

low tier- omegas as a whole have little personality & only want to cook, clean, have kids, etc. i admire the people that do this in real life, but there's almost no way every single omega wants the same thing. also, alphas that abuse, r*pe, or treat other dynamics as slaves because "it's in their nature" is definitely a whole can of worms i do not want to open or even look at. when omegas are basically drugged during their heats & unable to do anything except sex or self pleasure, as well as when omegas only exist to "serve their alphas"/ reproduce.

i realize a/b/o is fiction and all, but reading the kind of stuff in the low tier example makes me physically sick.

Part Two: Headcannons

took private self defense lessons (capoeira) to feel more in control of his body as well as on the off chance something might happen

nothing ever did, L's just paranoid.

their heats were already intense, but on the rare occasion they forget to take their suppressants, it's ten times worse.

L is about the average height of a beta, although he's much skinnier than most betas or well-fed omegas, so most people just assume he's an unclassified beta

he was very overprotective of his loved ones, even before he presented, and was raised knowing that his personality matters more than his dynamic

his family did joking bets on if he would be classified as a beta or an alpha, since he had traits of both. he loved to cook, was a very active kid, and always knew when someone was really hurt or just needed their parent to get them when he was on the playground

Light is netural on having children, but definitely wants marriage and a partner who wouldn't need to rely on him 24/7

he generally dated betas, and a few omegas before meeting L.

Light doesn't understand why L hates their dynamic so much, since omegas are respected & equal to other dynamics in japan, but he accepts them regardless

he is a firm believer in dynamic equality & is not afraid to speak about it or correct older generations when they're being rude.

betas make up a the majority at about 55% of the population being beta, 25% alpha and only 19% omega.

the missing percent is because in rare cases, like if it would put them in danger or if they're in an important political position, some people are unclassified, or they just never present medically. unclassified people generally live as betas
