A have a few things I can run down-

Photo reference. There are things I legit cannot get down right that I need photos for so my family ends up being my reference for things/I get photos from them doing poses I sometimes need.

If you can't get photo refs you can always use 3d models too to help with shadowing and where light should hit!

3. Thumbnailing

Omg please thumbnail. Like it's honestly a lot of fun cause you're not showing them really to anyone unless you need help picking but they're scribbles and doodles for you to know what you want your composition to look like or what the mood is gonna be

Again they don't have to be anything special could be stick-figures or whatever but it's to help you plan

4. Post-Work

I play around with curves and blurring so much like there's a lot that happens even after I finish comes sometimes I'm like "no I don't like these colors" and end up playing around with them more with curves and color balance

I made a tutorial about curves here! I also talk about the darken and light layer here too cause they're legit my favorite layer modes to play with and not a lot of people talk about them. I can't find my one talking about blurring+ noise(if anyone finds it please link it over :D)I might have to make a new tutorial on those- I think one of the things that gives it that dreamy feeling is the blur I use-

I like to keep things I don't want so much attention on blurred out/ and keep things I want you to grab your attention more in focus

also like using textures are fun too to add over art sometimes. It also makes like the art feel less sharp+ adding noise gives it that fuzzy look to it

I like make my own to add over or use some I got over the years! They're fun to slap on and have as overlay

5. Bug your friends lmao

I have bugged @chrispypapas in the middle of the before to ask him for help/to give me a second eye on things cause 1. Sometimes there's something you don't catch your friends do and tell you what to fix or 2. You're being overcritical and it's fine

Girl omg I am IN ABSOLUTE LOVE with your animatics- I’dmarrythemifIcould- can I ask what program do you use for animatics? And do you have any tips on making animatics (especially abt character and camera movement) or any sneak peaks into your process? I have Clip Studio Paint EX, but I’m still trying to figure out the animation features etc and, again, I wanna try my hand at making animatics, that’s why I’m asking :3

Okay... For almost all animatics I use Toon Boom Harmony Premium (it has a lot of stuff and it's comfortable for me) Also sometimes I use Krita and Clip Studio Paint (I used this video to understand main features of this program (Little fact, I used Clip Studio to animate "Yellow light" for the first time). Lately started animating in Procreate too, pretty funny and comfortable one About tips... I had one about smoother shifts between frames (but for some reason I can't find it? Even with the fact that I did put a special tag on it) and I don't know what exactly you need about other tips. Almost everything I make intuitively, I kinda see where to move camera too make right effect? But I can tell one most useful tip, if you really wanna animate, try to imagine how it will move in your head, use references (just watch video and copy on paper on program moves from there), look how things in your life moves, it will slowly stuck in your head if you will be stubborn enough. Because, I will be honest, I didn't learn any animation basics but over time, as I look at video lessons, I understand tha I do know them (but I think it will be important to know them theoretically, not only intuitively, if you will work with other people, because they help to specify how it should be animated (key frames, inbetweens, timing and other things) Artists which lessons I use to watch from time to time or I just love their way of animating: Toniko Pantoja, Alex Grigg // Animation for Anyone, GOBELINS Paris, ToastyGlow, pollovy, -岂几Kai-, Neal Illustrator, SAD-ist, Casserole :D, WolfyTheWitch, Rodrigo Sousa, Amelia B (There are more, but these are the first ones I always remember, and of course a lot of cartoons)

About wips...... I have a lot... "I bet my life", "Finale" Leo's pov, "Earth" and others in queue... I almost completed key frames for "Agnes" animatic (Full song, about 4 minutes? I'm making my dream live over here he-he-he), but I am so crazy about sending wips so that I created my little rabbit hole (to hide from Cass *giggle*) to stop sending them on tumblr because I want to make full emotional experience from completed work... It's not so cool if you already experienced first emotions from this when you could experience the whole thing biting your knees

okay buckle up because this will probably end up pretty long but:

While there are similarities in both situations there are some major differences in many aspects:

First Caitis claim was originally that she got touched under her shirt which got interpreted as in on the waist and that’s what George confirmed, later she changed it/clarified? it was her boobs?

Beaus claim is she got kissed and then the guy proceeded to start making out with her which she described as basically more kissing

Caiti in her first stream says she was “freshly eighteen” which got quickly disproven based on her birthday and when vidcon happened and she is very firm on letting people know that the guy was 8 years older than her and that he definitely knew her age. Which later George addressed and said that no he didn’t know her age and he assumed she was over 21 based on the information he had. Caiti is clearly trying to make people come to conclusions that it was predatory

Beau never tries to paint the guy as predatory, they were I think both 17 or similar age. The guys response is “omg she is trying to paint me as predatory”

George is very empathetic in his response, while he shows his perspective he is still mindful of Caitis perspective and feelings and asks people tobe supportive to her

The guy Beau confronts starts going around telling their mutual friends “she lied” and when she posted about it on twitter denied everything, didn’t think about her feelings at all and again claims she is trying to paint him as predatory and destroy his career.

Caitis story having many inconsistencies, things being corrected by George with evidence

Beau telling her story and being called a liar by the guy who she accused with no evidence she is and her friends just immediately believing the guy

yeah I'd say this is a decently fair assessment of it all but a few quick notes for those who want to be picky with details:

george confirmed "under the shirt touching", people originally took that to mean the waist (because that was how most people interpreted her initial claim) however he never specified beyond that iirc so I just wanna make it clear in case people wanna be picky about wording lol

I will say, as soon as Beau called it sexual assault, she is accusing this guy of SA. So to say her main problem is with how her ex-friends reacted is a bit inaccurate considering she is also essentially accusing this guy of a crime. Now, how much of her friends behavior rather than the guy's behavior contributed to her trying to commit multiple times? we don't really know. So i get what you were trying to say in making that point

but overall yes there are many differences which I think is why people have been saying not to compare them (on twitter) because the details are quite nuanced in each of them for different reasons and if you don't acknowledge that, then you're not representing each situation fairly or accurately I suppose.

A rant on Aang being fed, this is half serious half a joke

Starting with the Headband episode where they go to a restaurant that is specifically for meat (as we hear Aang say 'oh, we're going to a meat place?' and based on how he doesnt join them, the place doesnt have any other options) despite 1/4 of their group being vegetarian.

And if that wasnt bad enough, when they brush off Aang, Aang says, and I quote

"I'll just get some lettuce out of the garbage."

And they accept this???? And leave him??? They don't act like this is exactly out of the ordinary? How often is Aang going dumpster diving for food???? Like, what a weird fucking throw away line.

And then

What was he eating during the painted lady episode? Bc all sokka was buying was poisoned fish and clams. I hope they just, had rations, and they were just,,,, choosing to eat poison fish instead of said rations, bc the alternative, is Aangs been on his own foraging plants around a dead river for however many days they were there. Katara over here extending their stay like, hell yeah pop off katara, save those people, but also, she had to know Aang didn't have shit to eat right???? Aang’s not eating the berries, wtf is he eating? Katara you found edible berries? And didn't tell Aang?????

And I don't remember him complaining abt any of this, like, kid, child, you are in one of the most rapid stages of growth and are doing the physical work of mASTERING THREE ELEMENTS IN NINE MONTHS, sustenance is, in fact, a necessity

EDIT: I've edited some points because I've watched the trailer more and understand things a bit better! So reread if you want!

So loved the trailer but I don't really feel like doing an in-depth analysis like I did for the teaser, so I'll just point out some things that I thought were interesting!

1. Stede is adorable and looks great in his outfits, I love his "I didn't dump him," and "we're on a break." I also love how it seems like people around Stede are teasing him about his rocky relationship. And on that note I'm SO EXCITED to see how Stede tells the crew (or maybe just Olu?) about what happened on the beach!

2. Ed is equally adorable and I love the hint that he'll be a total bitch to Stede for a while lol

3. Izzy is missing half his left leg! Huh. I know people speculated it but it's cool to have confirmation! The missing toe must have gotten infected. I wonder if that will play a part in Izzy realizing he made a mistake in bringing Blackbeard back.

4. Stede saying he's been a failure his whole life really hurts my heart

5. There's a scene of Stede in his Chinese garb looking horrified at what the Revenge looks like. This must be after the storm damaged it. Poor guy

6. Izzy and Stede training together! Love to see it. I'm excited to maybe have a reason to like Izzy more and see Stede become better at... well a lot of things lol

8. Ed standing on the rocks with what people have speculated to be Hornigold, or his ghost, I wonder what the context of that scene is

11. Seems like the "torture" scene may be comical after all? It looks like Jim is smiling?

12. In the scene where they're on the "torture" boat, seems like before the "torture" happens, Stede is smiling! Good to see him happy for a moment, since pretty much every other scene he hasn't smiled lol

13. Who is this weird-nosed character? Is he the villain of the season? Seems like he's leading the Navy officers, so probably.

20. The Ed crying scene probably happens around the same time that the painted cake topper scene does, since we see the bride topper in the right corner. Also I really want Stede to find the cake toppers (or at least Ed's if Ed throws the groom overboard)

21. When Ed says "no more booze, no more drugs, and no more" the "Stede" at the end is clearly not from that same line. So I wonder what he actually says at the end?

22. What are Stede and crew escaping from during the crossbow scene? I've watched the trailer again and I think they're firing the crossbow for the zip line rope! And they're escaping from a ship to the Revenge. I hope Stede gets to shoot the crossbow!

23. The "you two know each other?" scene must come around the same time that Stede reunites with Ed after Ed is hurt, since Ed has the same split lip. Or maybe the headbutt scene comes after that? I'm not sure. I would bet that the headbutt scene is first.

24. Why are Jim and Olu and that other person warding off vampires lol

25. We finally see a glimpse of Lucius!! In the scene where he and Frenchie are under a log. He has a beard now! We definitely know it's him becouse of the wooden finger. Yay the boy is back! Can't wait to see how he survived and the Lucius x Black Pete reunion!!

Anyways that's all, I'm even more excited for the new season now and I hope we get a clip or two or more photos! But we only have 3 weeks left guys hang in there!!!

HCs for the Edenian girlies(someone stop her,she's thinking):

1)There's a skin from one of the seasons( I think) that gives Sindel fully black hair and.....Kitana really is her mama's twin. Sindel really said copy and paste with her and gave her her entire face(and body. They're shaped exactly alike. Slim figures,long limbs,small waists).

2) I like to think that Mileena either looks more like Jerrod(tbf, we're yet to see what he looked like normally,pre-Ermac) or one of her grandparents. A lot of questions got raised as Mileena got older because no one can figure out who she really resembles. Some say Jerrod, others say her paternal or maternal grandparents and still others say that she looks like one of her maternal aunts(so Sindel's sisters).

3) If Jerrod was a mess when the girls were born, it gets worse as the girls mature. Granted, they age quite slowly as Edenian Outworlders, but still. He has potraits done of the girls done regularly as they grow up (I like to think that he would be a patron of the arts as part of his royal work) among many other things. They lack for absolutely nothing as long as he's around.

4)But he's very big on keeping them grounded as people. They play with other kids(the young Umgadi recruits), they go to school with their fellow aristocrats(up to a certain age,when they start receiving private, specialized tutelage) and they live a relatively normal life within the palace walls.

5) Jerrod was well aware of Mileena's queerness from quite early on. He actually jokes a bit to Sindel about how liking girls seems to run in the family and that she passed the sapphic genes on to her. (I mean he didn't really react to or seem surprised by Tanya's presence beside Mileena in story mode. He just notes that she's an Umgadi,but not one he knows. So I think he knew that they were fruity.)

Omg, I love headcanons. Thank you for sharing them. I love hearing/ reading other people's headcanons, so keep sending them.

1. I think this is the skin you're talking about. And absolutely yes. Kitana is literally a mini Sindel. They literally have matching hairstyles.

(I headcanon that Sindel's hair was fully black when she was younger.)

I also noticed how Kitana is more slim and kind of petite, and Mileena looks more broad and has more muscle than Kitana.

2. I thought about this before. Maybe Mileena's looks are from Jerrod's side of the family. I really wish we could've gotten a flashback or human model of what Jerrod looks like. The only human pic of Jerrod is that painting of him and Sindel in the Great Hall. But, honestly, Mileena looking like her father makes sense to me.

3. Jerrod is the best girl dad and malewife, and I will stand by that. I can imagine those portraits being framed and hung on the wall.

4. This makes so much sense. I feel like Jerrod wanted the girls to have a sort of humble upbringing. Like, Mileena and Kitana don't act like snotty, uptight royals. They have a kindness to them that they got from their father and their no-nonsense attitude from their mother.

5. Him and Sindel knowing Mileena was bi but waiting until she came out to them. In the story scene, can you imagine the conversation they had before they met up with everyone else. He sees how close Mileena and Tanya are, and he's just like, I knew it.

Also, I want to add a headcanon. Mileena is a daddy's girl, and Kitana is a mama's girl.

14. is there anything you wanted readers to learn from reading this fic? yeah I wanted you all to know that I'm a better writer than the Duffer bros - not that that's saying much - and that canon is shit (no but honestly, the entire point of this story was to explore the emotional roller coaster that is grief. the way it presents itself as hideous monsters hidden within dark, demented dreams. the guilt of being a survivor when maybe you shouldn't have, and the emotional transformation these difficulties put people through.)

At the meeting Taylor Karens harder than he's ever Karen'd before.

Why don't you mind your god damn beeswax, Rory-No-Job-Gilmore. This is getting old and frankly kinda weird. I’m really raring for one of those delicious scenes where Jess or Dean takes her down a peg.

After the meeting adjourns, The Convention of the Male Karens + a wildly out of place Kirk meet outside in order to remind Luke what a piece of shit his uncle was and that they’re not going to his funeral. Taylor sure sounds confident that the people of Stars Hollow won’t also spit on his grave and sing a happy song when he croaks. Frankly I don't even think there will be a grave. I've always envisioned Taylor being stuffed into a sack and tossed over his beloved bridge to become swan food along with Shane, who Jess slaughtered after the Dance Marathon.

There isn’t enough rock throwing in this show. In my gritty unrated Gilmore Girls reboot titled The Hollow, more people will throw rocks at Taylor Doose.

So many things are throwing off the balance of the Gilly Girls Universe lately. Rory gets a job and becomes a control freak. Rory pays for her food. Lorelai dispenses reasonable advice. Lorelai's meddling is at a minimum. Lorelai is uncharacteristically pleasant. Dean is nowhere to be found (is that why Lorelai is so tolerable?) Scott Patterson without a hat.

I don't know what you want to do with digital art so this is just broad advice, but here are my tips!

Most drawing softwares or websites give you a white background. Change that to a muted, softer, color so that your eyes don't work as much. It doesn't need to be a dark color or even a grey, even just something around this area will do wonder for your eyes:

You can always put it back in white to check that your colors look good when you're finished, just don't hurt your eyes with your screen.

2. Speaking of screen, remember all those tips about how to work at a computer without hurting your back or your neck? Use them here too. One of the perks of drawing digitally is being able to just zoom in instead of getting the face closer to the drawing, I know that's not easy to get used to but trust me good posture is important.

3. You don't need any paying software or subscription, except if you absolutely need a very specific one, which most people never do. Digital art is one of the areas where the open source community works the most, there's tons of free software and material (and tutorials! there's tutorials for everything!) everywhere! My favorite is Krita because I like its options and tools (although I keep using the same handful ^^), but even something as basic as Paint can work well, depending on what tools you expect your software to give you. If you need Photoshop, you probably heard of Photopea already, I can confirm it also works really well.

4. Drawing time! If you have a tablet that has buttons, I really recommend spending a few minutes looking through a tutorial to attach your software's keyboard shortcuts to the buttons. Personally I have buttons for: switching between pen and eraser, zooming in, zooming out, rotating the image to the left, rotating the image to the right, and grabbing the image to move it. Also the basic Ctrl+Z. I'm planning to add the fill tool on the last button soon.

5. More tablet tips: your hand will probably not glide well on the surface of it. People usually buy a drawing glove for that, I still haven't taken the time to do that so I use a bit of fabric instead. Even just the end of your sleeve will result in smoother lines on the screen.

6. Many pens are pressure-sensitive! If yours is too, you can always begin by using one of the most basic pencils in the software that don't have pressure sensitivity, and work your way up to other pencils once your hand learned how to draw this new way. There can be other settings like angle of the pencil tip or speed, but those also take time to get used to and most people find them less intuitive. But do experiment with what you've got! You should be able to change the size of the pencils, and every other setting too, so if you like some aspect of a pencil but not another, you can just disable that other one xd

7. If you're not drawing with a tablet but with a mouse... Well I take my hat off to you.

8. This one's not specific to digital art, but I find that taking a few minutes to just draw lines and circles and waves works really well to get the hand and arm used to working in a new position. I do that every time I draw for warmup, but whenever I'm at another desk I really notice how much my hand needs it to get used to the new angle. You already know how to draw, your limb(s) just need to work on the neural pathways to become familiar with the new position(s). Thankfully cerebral plasticity works fast!

this is all such useful advice! i'm planning on getting into digital art again (my previous forays have been historically... not too successful) bc my laptop has a touch screen, i got a digital pen and krita is free xdd. it took a bit of fiddling around to find the settings and the brushes i wanted and i still haven't figured out where the ctrl+z is but eh, we're getting there. it's so different to traditional art though omg. but it does give very satisfying results i'll have to give that. thank you again, i will keep trying!!!!!!
