OK so it turns out gatakis shrine IS achievable even without the paraglider. my method was a bomb/spring fused shield to get over the first gap, using another of the same shield to land on the closest laser platform (not as hard as it looks) then using a third bounce shield to finally make it over the second gap.

the zonai gliding suit is required btw to get the air/glide time required to make tight gaps.

anyway once you're close to the gap where you're supposed to glide upwards to the shrine statue, go to the highest platform just above the opening with a robot then try to aim for the tiny light platform when gliding down. once you're on go to the very edge before using a rocket shield to get as much height as possible. you won't be able to go all the way to the end of the shrine but you can reach one of the lights leading up to there. land on one and repeat the above until you can safely glide to the top.

essentially you need a three shields that can bounce you, and three rocket shields to get you to the final room. (though i only used two, i recommend three just in case so you have room for errors)

Genuinely? I think it was Breath of the Wild. After the abyss that was the Wii U, the Switch was a massive, massive success, and Breath of the Wild made the entire industry sit up and pay attention. During the Wii U era, everybody treated Nintendo like this cute old grandpa who couldn't keep up with the times, so with the Switch there was this culture shock in the industry where Nintendo was suddenly competing with the big boys again. Note how every open world game has a glider now.

The Switch was a fucking runaway train. Splatoon 2 was a massive success, way moreso than the first game. Mario Odyssey was considered a masterpiece. Animal Crossing New Horizons was uniquely suited to the pandemic. Old franchises like Kirby and Metroid got Forgotten Lands and Dread, installments that made people finally see them as prestige franchises.

Fact is, Nintendo's image is fucking ridiculously good right now compared to where it was during the Wii U. They're seen as a premier company again. A front runner. And they're gonna stick to that image as hard as they can. They're very confident in their brand right now.
