speaking of onion boy (onision)... a very funny/strange/interesting memory i have is that my very first original post on this site when i joined nearly a decade ago was... a multi-paragraph rant absolutely ripping that man a new one because i could see exactly what kind of soulless excuse for a human being he really was and i was frustrated that this concept was not grasped by... his audience of people my age at the time. no introductory post no "how do i use this site" post no nothing. i just came in swinging with pure hatred in my heart.

Reading up on the history of American Idiot (album) and realizing exactly how revolutionary it was and I just have to yell about it for a hot second

So, before they started working on American Idiot, the band was having problems and they were thinking they were going to break up. But for a couple of reasons, they switched directions, most notably because they all felt strongly about the Iraq War and how it was manufactured by greed and warmongering from the Bush administration, which was amplified by the news media. I read a quote from Billie Joe Armstrong where he talked about how the news media was becoming "more of a reality show" than it was news, and he couldn't have been more right. In fact, that problem got worse, and now we're living in an era of rampant misinformation where everything is politicized to a point where just supporting human rights for marginalized people is considered controversial. The song American Idiot came out in 2004, and when Donald Trump first visited the UK at the beginning of his presidency, it was the top played song on every UK radio station, 12 years after it was released. Most things would be culturally irrelevant at that point.

When creating the album American Idiot, a lot of thought went into it - they had a very specific message in mind, and their goal was to send that message to youth. This is because they realized at some point that their fanbase was a bunch of teenagers, and even though they hadn't necessarily intended it that way, they suddenly had a platform with the youth of America and they decided they ought to do something good with it. The drummer, Tré Cool, said something along the lines of "I've never really liked the idea of preaching to kids, but I realized we don't really have a choice at this point." And I love that so much because like, so many people who get rich and famous just become completely out of touch, and when they get a platform, it's very easy to exploit that platform, influence them with terrible ideas, or encourage them to act in terrible ways for self-serving reasons (ex: JK Rowling, Andrew Tate, Dream, Logan Paul, Onision, etc etc). Green Day refused to allow themselves to get to that point. They know the platform they had gave them power and they made an active choice early on to be responsible with it. And a lot of that moral code comes from the fact that they came up in the DIY punk scene in Oakland, which held its members to a very high standard of ethics, a code that they still follow even after they were disowned by that scene when they signed on with a major record label in 1994.

The song American Idiot has a message of "this mass media hysteria is manufactured bullshit, don't fall for it," and it is not subtle about that message. It punches you right in the face. I remember being 12 years old and listening to it and thinking, "yeah, I don't want to be an American idiot." And now, at the age of 28, I am a staunch leftist who is firmly against the atrocities the US government commits, and I feel strongly about stopping misinformation. So I can say with absolute certainty that they succeeded.

I also get like, really upset when people say that American Idiot is the album where they sold out, because that's objectively not true, both for the reasons I've provided above, and also because of the song Wake Me Up When September Ends. Not a lot of people know the story behind this song, but it's actually a song that Billie Joe wrote about the experience of his dad dying of cancer when he was 10 years old. The story, as he tells it, is that when he came home from school, his mom gave him the news, and being (understandably!) upset, started crying, ran to his room and slammed the door. When she knocked on the door to try and talk to him, he shouted "wake me up when September ends!!" in response. It took him decades to be able to write this song, and it shows because it's the perfect grief song, having been played at benefits for 9/11, hurricane Katrina, and so on. The first time I heard that song it reduced me to tears, because you can hear the intense sadness in it. A "sellout" would never write a song like that!! (Side note: maybe stop tweeting at Green Day to wake up every October 1st, it's super tone deaf given the subject matter,,,)

Anyway, I think I'm done being autistic about Green Day (that's a lie, they'll forever be my special interest), so TL;DR:

What she failed to note is that the icons and that there were no signs of photoshop.

Not just that, but the Twitter post where the discord light mode posts were shown were made after the post about trans men, not after.

Which means that these posts aren’t just recent, they can’t be imposters because the icons are exactly alike (no signs of being zoomed in like any cut out screenshot would be). -and though yes, the difference between light and dark mode are there, the icons are in fact the same in length, width, there are no signs of photoshop. -and how can someone fake the icon without a clear reference to the icon shown above? Yes, Vivziepop has a discord server: but there would have to be differences in how the icon looks in order for it to be faked or an imposter.

There are no differences.

Therefore, there is a 89% chance that the discord messages are Vivziepop’s. This is something no one besides Rainbow (and an anonymous source) have mentioned yet and the fact that this is the case is confusing as it was a missed opportunity. The entire video was a missed opportunity. Fiona could have actually read the document but choose not to do so and so much was left out to the level that I wonder if she only highlighted the misinformation and zoomed out screenshots to make Vivziepop look more innocent than she actually is. It just feels off.

Why would she link the document but not show a single screenshot of the document unless she was hiding something?

Just a theory, but the way that the video was organized is just odd. There is more than enough evidence: What Hunter said about lackadaisy in Vivziepop’s server, what happened to Squidder, other people complaining about their experience in Spindlehorse since 2021, Vivziepop following Ralphielle || and Nicole, how Helluva Boss’s script treats serious subject matter, how Vivziepop greywashes poc and refuses to give them any black traits, the Blaire White situation being not addressed properly/ possibly lied about, Brandon Rodgers having Onision on his show not long ago- so much!

So much was left out! How? How could there be so much evidence that there is something wrong with Spindlehorse and those who mainly control it yet none of it has been touched on in Youtube yet?

Be in it for the right reasons -When getting into writing in general you gotta really be into it because it gets hard seeing something you wrote only get a few likes, speaking of likes, do not let it get you down when some things you write maybe isn't as popular as you hoped!

Use Grammarly! -Okay, not all the time will Grammarly get what you are trying to say so do not blindly trust it, but double-check your writing for errors!

Be clear about your boundaries! -Do not sway on what makes you uncomfy for anyone! and do not be shy to block people or not respond to an ask if you have made it known you are not okay with writing it

It is okay to take inspiration! -Does a writer you like describe things in a way you enjoy? Attempt to replicate it but not entirely! add your own spin on it to see if you can make it your own look into writing/book YouTubers who talk about writing styles and what not to do! for example, I watch crimson rouges videos on onisions books and pretty much left feeling like I was the best writer ever lol

Give your blog a theme! -This is more just for fun cause people will like your blog a lot more if you can have a constant theme going on with it and it was nice to look at! plus it would be more fun to work on if you thought it looked nice!

consistency! - I know I'm one to talk about consistency cause I don't post for a while but yk! try to post something once a week or whatever you are able to do!

krimsonrogue (202k) - book review channel: if you enjoy having background noise from like podcasts or those long form analysis videos this Is the channel for you. you Will watch krimsonrogue. while reviewing actual Good Books and comparing book and film releases, the most milage ive gotten is from the reviews of absolute shit books-- if you know him, its likely from his onision book series, but the others are just as good. goes in deep and rips them to shreds, feels like hanging out w a friend.

As a survivor of a cult, seeing people say "groups can't be groomed" is buck wild to me. Do they think Jonestown happened because everyone there was bored? Charles Manson just stumbled into having besties willing to murder him? Heaven's Gate was just a bunch of uninfluenced free thinkers who committed mass suicide without any input from their leader? I don't know why we're acting like someone grooming a group is a new, strange, impossible idea when it's got a body count and a history going back centuries on multiple continents. When did all of human history and decades of psychological study become insufficient evicence for something? Grooming a group has plenty of evidence for its' existence and plenty of horrifying results and none of it is secret or new.

indeed. even if we take it to people on YT alone, we have a lot of evidence of creators normalizing certain ideas for their audience to later take advantage of them. onision constantly reinforced the illusion of being the perfect boyfriend on his videos, it was a conscious effort of his to normalize the sexualization of his audience on videos (who can forget the infamous "rating pictures you send me" where he called underage girls sexy and attractive?) so when he took that to a personal level it felt like just the natural progression of something he started before that. shane dawson too inserted a lot of creepy and sexual content into his videos, despite knowing he was being watched by mostly children, he kissed an underage fan on the mouth, he asked another one to twerk for him and even made a young cousin to answer sexual questions to him under the guise of being "a joke". he might have no claims of directly grooming anyone, but none of the people who dennounced these actions would say that it was a healthy or appropiate relationship he had with his audience. so now we have LO continuesly showing disregard for keeping boundaries in place or differentiate her NSFW side from her SFW one, sometimes blending the two together, despite knowing that minors follow her. everytime that she shows the little graph with the ages of her audience, the fact that the underage one isn't zero should be enough of a reason to think of restraining herself a little. we know that she dates fans. we know that at least one of her ex was a fan of her since they were underage and were quickly accepted on the "inner circle" of LO, which quickly turned into a relationship, as soon they turned of age. we know that LO actively participated and encouraged the dating of a minor with an adult, that she even defended it saying " won't be for long" when someone rightfully point out that person was a minor. we know that she's an abusive person who will never take accountability for anything wrong she has done. we know that she fosters and encourage a hypersexual environment where she is the center of attention. we know this already, so why is the phrase "parasocial grooming" the point where suddenly there is a problem?

So the long and short of Onision that I could possibly do in a tumblr ask goes something like this:

He started doing YouTube in like 2006, 2007? Sometime in there. He gained a sizable following and his main thing was criticizing and rating photos his fans sent to him of their bodies (🙄 red flag #1). His most viral video that I remember was when he dressed up in a banana costume and sang “I’m a banana” over and over (this was 2009 YouTube so it was considered peak comedy). Now he’s been going back and forth with getting sued and suing other people. And his books are terrible.

Yes, kinda, and I can understand why. He has to compromise with a lot of people in the commentary community, so any wrong move and he would get backlash and possible get into more drama. He has gone through a lot of online theatre over the years, so I can see why he is choosing to be so careful with every fucking thing, like even removing my Mr. Leaps character from his intro we made for him... He doesnt want any more risk as he knows the consequences. When I started out in my drama, I had zero experience of any online battles, I didnt even know how to make a commentary video at the time, as I was only starting out that summer of 2020 with a few shitty history vids with bad editing. I can see how bad of a response I made towards Daft pina at the time now, since I didnt even write it. It was my editor who wrote most of it, and I just gave the general points to talk about (there was also no time to think about it, since I wanted a response to Daft asap), as I didnt know how to put it into proper English commentary when all I did prior was animation for years. Animation/art =/= commentary, you just use completely different parts of the brain I noticed when you do one of those. I made that first QnA video in like 2019, and you dont wanna know how long it took me to record and redo most of it, I hated how I sounded, I hated what words I used, it was all so ugly to me, I juist had no experience of talking to random online people at the time - my brain was developing in other fields (animation, cinema stuff, music/score), so I guess you can say I was a retard when it came to speaking online.

 Over the years I followed a few drama stories, like the Onision one, a bit of LEafyis Here, and few Daft pina stuff when he was a :good guy: in the eyes of the public, but you dont really learn about the stakes or the consequences in such situations unless youve been there yourself. Its a completely different understanding when youre just a viewer or a spectator, so you dont see the full picture on whats happening behind the stage. I was very late to realize how much damage online battles can do to someone, both mentally and financially. It can develop into serious trauma if youre relying on online audience to pay the bills. Luckily for me, most of the subs are not interested in any drama stuff, as I mainly lost audience who watched the history vids, while the usual main series I make seem to be doing the same , so deathbed stuff gets the most views, while other parodies can be huge hit or miss, so I dont want to do them anymore, as its huge gamble. For Just a Robot, he has built his online career with commentary, so its obvious he will lose it all in an instant once the community turns on him. I do think he isnt brave to just stick to his own opinion and not care what others will think, but its also not gonna align with his community if he does go out of line. 

Daft Pina is a recent example of what happens when commentary turns on you. He has lost a lot of power over the years, but of course he will never fully vanish like Creepshow art, since he has way too many “friends” in art circles who seem to be his safety net, though you can see his sub count has dropped since last year, and so did his views. SonnyTM has made a great recent video on Daft, to show what I mean, you can watch that vid on his channel.

First of all, the body shaming comment was calling Gerard an old fart, not old and fat, which you can see presented below

Old fart. I can see why people would take offense to this, seeing as how people have previously treated Gerard when it comes to their physique (most notably Onision), but no way in any shape or form did they body shame Gerard.

Moving along, in terms of how they met My Chem, their dad is very close friends with the band, family friends according to them.

In regards to Frank’s accident, Frank was the one who joked about it, not them. Frank was talking about having snapping turtles (as we know is Snippy and her babies) and was joking about his accident.

In a now deleted video (which I have seen screenshots of) they mentioned how they met Frank and the band, talked about snapping turtles, and talked about his accident.

Based on the wording, many people assumed that they asked Frank about his accident and pestered him to talk about it. Again, I can see how people took this the wrong way and I understand why people did take that the wrong way.

And the skull emoji that followed their caption I saw some people get uncomfortable with, including myself. I agree that it was a poor choice to use that emoji.

They have acknowledged that their actions came off the wrong way, and they apologize to anyone that they may have offended.

They did this in an apology video on tiktok, which you may or may not have seen if you’re on the app.

If you’re on tiktok like myself, you’ve probably seen their comments on videos that involve them as people are currently spreading misinformation.

As a fandom, I hope we can strive to move past this and not run with spreading around information without hearing the entire story.

Tbh from what I saw some people who are part of smiletwt first instinct was to go dig up dirt on the guy but pretty much everybody else side eyed them and trash talked then when they did all the dream stans I follow pretty much said something along the lines of "Really digging up old stuff as a Dream Stan do you know what you are doing?"

So I would say that doing that was seen as dumb by most of the fandom

But leaving that behind I'm still pretty uncomfortable he used to do that and it does reflect on his character and this is pretty deranged but when he mentioned being attracted to feminine people it just sounded like Onision describing his weird relationships

So I would bet his homophobic way of seeing queer women hasn't changed even if he no longer says it as openly

see i don't think "digging up" stuff is inherently evil especially if it's public tweets on a twitter account that is still used by the creator. no one doxxed martyn or went searching through alt accounts, they literally found all this on his main twitter. now, that being said, i think if someone addresses and apologizes for whatever they did in an acceptable manner and makes an effort to be better or make things right, that is satisfactory to make up for the things they've said. but i'm always of the opinion that if you post something publicly on social media, you should always assume everyone can see it and that it will follow you wherever you go. i also agree that i don't think he's changed

It’s disgusting, and for this “cancel culture” needs changes, serious changes, if we ever hope to stop creators like this from becoming trending again.

I’ll have more time to properly catch up on everything on Friday, but looks like Onision made a whole video about Anonymous Gene. I haven’t watched it, but Gene’s Twitter name change is all you need to know about him. He’s a persistent nuisance who appeared when Chris Hansen got involved. He loves gaining the attention of big figures in the Onision story, which is why he gunned for getting into personal contact with Chris so early on and why he’s been relentlessly harassing Onision and his family for the past 4 years.

No one likes him. No one wants him around. From what I’ve seen, every corner of the internet that follows Onision shit on him and ban him immediately whenever he appears. Personally, I’ve avoided using his online name on this blog until now. Whenever I see him on a new Twitter account, I report him for doxing or spam and move on.

He spreads misinformation, doxes, harasses. He’s not helping anyone, he’s just amusing himself while trying desperately to convince everyone, including himself, he’s more important than he is.

I make him sound like a super villain, but really he’s just a persistent cockroach. I’ve only avoided mentioning him directly because I know how people like him can be. They have all the time in the world and just enough tools in their belt that makes them hard to ignore.

I haven’t watched the video yet, but acknowledging Gene is such a big way imo was a huge mistake on Onision’s part. This is only going to excite him and make him go harder on the harassment. The only way to deal with someone like that is to publicly ignore them and to privately collect evidence until they finally cross a legal line that allows you to report them properly to law enforcement. Or hopefully they get bored and move on, which now definitely isn’t going to happen anytime soon.

We don’t need an expose on Gene. We all know about him, we just try to ignore him.

i'm not saying this to be contrarian: i legitimately do not understand why people go on twitter for anything other than porn. i'm used to the whole post-post-post-ad-post-post-post etc format of this site, but twitter is a bunch of tweets from people you don't follow with some ads and sections begging you to follow topics for flavor. i literally only have notifications on so i can have a "clean" timeline with just tweets from the people i actually fucking follow. twitter is so overwhelming and unpalatable that it makes me feel like what 100 gecs fans think a victorian child is (even tho they drank fuckin borax milk and you can't even handle unspoiled cow's milk). how do people get addicted to the bird app? it makes smoking cigarettes look like a fun, wholesome summer activity. a nicotine-addicted brain probably looks healthier than whatever kind of brain goes on twitter and is like "here i am, back in my hole" instead of storming in like it's a single-item Target run, compulsively saving megabytes of furry porn in case the internet finally dies, checking to see who died, and finding out that COVID is still very much a problem before abruptly closing the app before your boner dies and you have to face reality with a pre-nut brain. frankly, i think it's just as bad as tiktok, and tiktok scares me. i've watched a corrupt politician's suicide and onision videos, and only tiktok makes me shake like a fucking chihuahua after a small soy mocha. the human body should be fatally allergic to tiktok. if you as a grown adult say words like "unalive" and type like an FBI agent's impression of a 2000's scene kid just so you can be seen by a couple people for half a second before they swipe you away, you should be sent to live inside the Boscov's at the Coventry Mall in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. now there's your fuckin "dopamine detox"
