Hi! I was wondering if you knew if this drawing from ORKA exists or if I just made it up in my head. I swear there was a school au that was drawn by ORKA and Shuri was wearing a white top with like a green skirt.. I wanted to see it again but I couldn’t find it IS THIS REAL?!
Hi!!! I know exactly what you're talking about!
Tumblr media
It's this image from the Official A Stepmother's Marchen Limited Edition Collector's Set! The special edition artbook has a section called "What if 'A Stepmother's Marchen' was set in modern times?"
Here's what we know about the AU (note: Translations are from what little I could find online. Translations may not be 100% accurate. If anyone has real scans of this book, I can offer more accurate details!)
Tumblr media
Shuri: A 3rd year student at Gold Highschool with excellent grades, outstanding athletics, and in the advanced class. She lives in the city with her aunt and she's neighbors with Jeremy.
Nora: A 1st year student at Silver Highschool in the art club. He has outstanding athletics and while quiet, he gets along with his peers. He seems to be attracted to Shuri, who he met by chance.
Jeremy: A 1st year student at Gold Highschool. He is great at sports, but doesn't have a lot of hobbies outside school. He just floats around because he doesn't have any goals. He bickers a lot with Shuri.
Theo: A 3rd year student at Infinite Highschool and the student body president. He has excellent grades and plays the violin. His nickname is "the Prince of Infinite High" and he has a secret fanclub.
Ohara: A 1st year student at Infinite Highschool and the student body vice president. She has excellent grades and plays the violin. She strives to go to the top college in the U.S.
Elias: A 2nd year student at Gold Middleschool whose hobbies include gaming, going to arcades or computer cafes. He dreams to become a pro-gamer. He's going through puberty and he has a mother-complex.
Leon and Rachel: They are 4th year students at Gold Elementary School. They have a cat named Cherry. They are strong and healthy kids and Leon, who loves books, wears glasses due to poor sight. The two attend Alberon's Taekwondo gym.
Maximillian: Chairman of a large corporation and a self-made businessman. He is a perfectionist and often argues with Elizabeth, who has an opinion against all of his matters.
Elizabeth: A politician with a fiery personality. Her skill is wrestling and her hobby is wrestling. She is great at her job.
Richelieu: Part of the legal team at a large corporation. He graduated school early and as soon as he did, he joined Maximillian's company's legal team.
Wolffe: A senior year college student in the law department. He's overwhelmed with assignments, applications, and essays. He dreams of joining Richelieu's legal team after graduation.
Albert: A diplomat that deals with internationally famous politicians and often travels to different countries. He's sad that he can't see his family due to his overseas business trips.
Heidi: A traditional tea shop owner located in a small alley. She's very shy and quiet, but passionate about her tea.
Everette: An interior designer that focuses on giving people a warm and comfortable home and accommodating to their customer's needs. She is a hard working interior designer in Shinchang.
Alberon: A Taekwondo instructor that's large in size and blunt in personality. He practiced consistently and refined his skills to become a national representative, achieving great results. Children often fear his large size, but the twins take him aback with their fearless attitude. He opens up to them and becomes very popular.
Johannes: A resourceful businessman. He spends more time abroad than he does at home. He sponsors Alicia's creative activities. They got married for their mutual beneficial business relationship.
Alicia: She is an artist that works as an art museum curator and a writer. Thanks to Johannes' sponsorships, she's become a well known creator.

@wayhavenots I’m so glad you asked, you will regret asking but I’m still glad you did.
Completely self indulgent AU In which Meredith Barker becomes a reluctant investigative journalist.
Teddy isn’t exactly a reporter. She didn’t go to school for journalism, she has an English degree, specializing in poetry. But she lost her job before the fic starts, and is just kind of wallowing when Bobby calls her up.
She doesn’t live in Wayhaven anymore at this point, and she and Bobby haven’t been in any significant kind of contact since they broke up almost two years ago. But he heard through the grape vine she needs a job, and what do you know, he needs writers.
He convinced the Wayhaven paper to start an online edition, and it is floundering. He can’t keep reporting nothing but high school sporting events and obituaries he will go insane. They need more content. Flavor stuff. He knows Teddy is a good writer, she could be really good for the paper, and also the online edition is all his idea and it can’t flop.
So he gets her the job and Teddy has to move back to Wayhaven. Which she hates the idea of, but she also kind of has to cuz her lease is about up and she can’t seem to get a job anywhere else.
Anyway, she moves in, and what do you know, another single girl is moving into the same apartment building on the same day. Teddy meet your new neighbor Janet Greenland!
Flash forward a few months,
Teddy is working for the paper. she’s very set into her routine. She has a dog. One could almost say she’s happy. But then, she notices her neighbor Janet hasn’t been home for a few days. Or at least, Teddy doesn’t think so. It’s not like they’re friends. Teddy doesn’t have friends. She has a dog. And also Bobby. She likes him significantly less than the dog. But as the days go by and still no sign of Janet she’s getting uneasy. she tries to report Janet missing but gets brushed off.
Also, a handsome stranger has been frequenting Hayley’s in the mornings, the same time as her, and he’s charming and friendly and she can actually talk to him without feeling like an idiot after. And she keeps running into him around town it’s like magic or it’s meant to be or something. (Or potentially planned out because sorry Teddy you do still have that super special blood that a murderous vampire does crave so very much)
So, we have a couple of plots kind of running parallel to each other.
1. Small town hallmark movie romance with Nate
2. Which is actually a bodyguard romance but Teddy doesn’t know that
3. Which is causing Nate some significant Stress. Because he wasn’t supposed to get this close to Teddy. Just be friendly. Not go on dates to greenhouses and walk her dog for her.
4. Attempting to solve a string of disappearances around town with your ex who you had a truly terrible romantic relationship with, but are beginning to have a surprisingly successful crime solving relationship with.
But what’s gonna happen!! Teddy is gonna find out the truth eventually, and then she’s gonna have to keep it from Bobby and the paper and also was Nate just being friendly because it was his job to protect her and also HER MOM ASSIGNED HIM THAT JOB so by all rights Teddy should hate him! But she can’t, because he’s Nate. And also because Monty, her dog, adores him. What’s a girl to do.
I don’t know but hopefully we will find out

I come to yall with a new AU I named,
Jobs AU
Yeah. Guess what thats about.
.
You're right! Jobs!! (This is also so that I can hopefully look into different jobs and learn about them)
Here is the brief info on who has what job. It's also like- a modern AU so...
Oh and don't expect the jobs to make a whole lot of sense. A lot of them are based off my headcannons for the characters and general vibes 💅
Jesse: pet caretaker. Has a little shop that sells items needed to raise an animal companion, and also a... Playhouse? I'm not sure what you call those places. Maybe like a puppy school thing?
Olivia: works in a family farm(this is really random. It came from her saying "Holy cow". Like.. that's the only reason other than, I feel like she could've grown up in a farm). But she wants to get out and do her own thing as much as she likes helping out there. She helped install internet in the town she lives in(so she could have better access through computer. She wants to learn computer science. Maybe make games?)
Axel: had to think a lot about this. I thought it could work to make him work with Olivia at her family farm.. but then I figured a comedian would fit him pretty nicely. So he's a comedian, but not that famous yet. So he helps out Olivia often with the farm. It also gives Olivia more time to try learn computer.
Petra: she makes jewelry. She can work with metal, gems in many different ways. She also desgins them herself.
Lukas: yeah he could be a writer... but- no. That's too boring. So I gave him a job as an actor. But, he still has a.. side job? Related to his writing. I mean.. he can still write books. Right? And not only that, he also owns a small book store along with a café. You know, one of those places you can relax while reading a book with a cup of coffee.
Gabriel: honestly wasn't sure what to give him. He and Ellegaard was the hardest to choose a job out of the order. But I think he could be a stuntman or choreographer. ...maybe even a body builder- 👀 (why is it all related to physical work..? Lol he just gives up that image to me ig)
Ellegaard: journalist. Just kinda came to me while finding a job to give her. I think she'd do nicely at it.
Soren: songwriter. He has potential, okay??
Ivor: I talked about this somewhere, designer. He designs and makes clothes. The idea came from him making armor for the order.
Magnus: show host. Game show, talk show, he could do it. I can imagine it pretty well in my head
Aiden: writer. I dunno man.. let him be it. I was gonna go for plumber so... i mean okay, no hate on him. Just- he's being especially annoying today 🤷‍♀️ sorry bro.
Maya: has a online shop where she sells items for cosplaying. Handmade. I feel like Maya would be a cosplayer...
Gill: owns a reptile shop. He's either incredibly scared of reptiles, or loves them dearly. For this AU, he loves them dearly.
Isa: honestly thought of just giving her mayor? But I think, makeup artist. Why? Cause her eyeshadow is JUST SO FLIPPIN BEAUTIFUL
Reginald: cop. Yeah- it fits him too well... but i can also see him reading bedtime stories for children! ...maybe he records audio books? For children books? Maybe?
Milo: photographer. I'll be honest, it's his looks. It's because of his looks.
Cassie Rose: youtuber :D she makes videos of her cats. "Becoming a crazy cat lady. Training video"
Harper: she works on developing AI! A.k.a. PAMA :) [dw it's not dangerous]
Em: I wanna say wrestling champion. So bad
Nell: a lifeguard! Or maybe person that runs the shop at beaches where they sell swimsuits and surfboards and stuff.
<Hadrian: businessman. CEO
Mevia: like... COO?
Otto: management>
That's all I can think of, or assign a job to right now. Might change or get added if I find something new and or better. Feel free to ask about the jobs they have. Or what you think a certain character might have for a job(might steal your idea tho- I warned ya)
And if there's a character you'd like to know what job I'd assign them but isn't on the list, feel free to ask that too!
Thanks for reading that stupidly long post. I'll be signing out 💫

Laishuro College AU prompt, and notes:
-first note, we’ve seen in casual doodles in the adventurer’s Bible that Toshiro seems to have an eye/interest for art and aesthetics. My gf for this AU is that he knows how to draw people and plants pretty well, but not animals or buildings. -second note, I’m using a chuck of Lokh’s own college AU idea where Laios is actually a online, novel writer on the side.
Toshiro, less interested in the DM campaign than he is staring at his surroundings, especially when said sessions took place at the old Touden House, he’s always looking around at the family pictures and nicknacks. Half-hoping he’d eventually see Falin’s childhood room, though having the sessions there was as rare enough.
So Toshiro isn’t super happy when the opportunity of exploring the home does arise, it’s to help Laios with his part of their assignment. When Toshiro looks around (reluctantly) Laios’ room, he notices all the bugs inside frames, and shelves full of animal parts like feathers and bones. So much so that even Laios notices Toshiro is distracted, and so he shows Toshiro his rarest souvenirs from going around the forest as a kid.
Toshiro is shaken to see a feather with similar patterns and colors as it was described in one of his favorite indie novels. Inside a rusty lunch box was also a few rocks and ores, but that feather stood out. Laios puts it all away before Toshiro can form the right question, a part of him also thinking it could just be a coincidence. The seed has been planted though, and so he can’t help but seeing the other similarities in Laios and the descriptions in the novel. Even notices his style of narration whenever they have a DM session after that.
Just a slow burn of Toshiro connecting dots and felling super frustrated yet enamored by the similarities, while planing to find a way to figure it out without anyone, especially Kabru (bc he would eventually just make fun of him anyways lol) finding out. So he has no other choice… Toshiro is going to have to get Laios all alone to confirm his suspicions and perhaps even… Admit his admiration for Laios work. If that’s all he’s found himself to enjoy about Laios that’s is.
This got my brain juices going. Drabble under the cut.
It never felt like it was the right moment to catch Laios. It was only fair, he was a busy guy outside of club meetings. So, Toshiro decided to do things the old-fashioned way.
When the class they shared together ended, he turned to Laios, opening his mouth to speak, but then he was bombarded by their peers sitting nearby in the neighboring rows.
Realizing that it was yet again not a good time, Toshiro stood from his chair and grabbed his things, leaving the classroom. As students flooded out of the door, someone else came rushing after him.
"Hey! Toshiro!"
Startled by his name being called, Toshiro turned around, meeting with Laios face-to-face again.
"Sorry it took me so long," he panted, catching his breath. "Did you wanna talk to me about something?"
Feeling put on the spot, Toshiro wanted to flee. Then he remembered, he needed to speak to Laios for a reason; a really good one. But he needed more time to gather his bearings about this.
"Can you meet me at the restaurant later tonight?" Club sessions weren't tonight due to everyone's schedules being packed, so they'd have a table to themselves.
"Sure!" Laios nodded. Another friend of his presumably called after him, catching his attention, but he made sure to properly say goodbye to Toshiro first.
Then, it was back to being invisible again.
Later, Laios met him at the restaurant as promised. He was on time, which wasn't unusual, but Toshiro was expecting him to postpone because something had come up.
Toshiro just had a coffee, because he had assignments he preferred to stay up late completing after this. He let Laios order whatever he wanted, though. He even offered to share some of his food with Toshiro, one of which was a gigantic plate of french fries.
Toshiro gave into trying just one, dipping it into the glob of ketchup on the side of the plate. It was incredibly salty, but it tasted incredible.
"Good, right?" Laios grinned. Toshiro smiled back. Okay, here goes nothing...
When Toshiro vouched to change the subject, Laios picked up another fry. "Try another!"
Seeing Laios dangle the salty fry at his face, Toshiro took it from him, taking a bite. Laios' smiled brightly, and then he began to talk to Toshiro about plans for their next campaign.
It was impossible to get Laios to stop when he was on a passionate tangent, so Toshiro let him. He paid for their check, insisting it was his treat and not Laios', and then they left the restaurant. Thankfully, judging by the silence, Laios must've run out of steam.
"Laios," Toshiro began, ignoring his racing heart as he continued. "Do you... do you remember when you showed me your collection at your house?"
Laios perked up. "Oh. Yeah, I do. Why?"
Toshiro stopped walking. Laios stopped a few steps ahead of him, noticing Toshiro wasn't moving anymore.
"That feather I saw in your lunch box," Toshiro said after, "I noticed, that it was also mentioned in one of your novels..."
Laios was quiet for some time, making Toshiro panic, wondering if he said the wrong thing. Then, he heard a chuckle come from the other man.
"So," he started, hands in his pockets as he approached Toshiro. "I'm guessing you figured it out, huh?"
Toshiro could only blink in utter confusion. "What?"
"I thought I was being subtle, well, kinda." Laios said with a bashful smile on his lips.
"I don't-" Toshiro shook his head, frowning. "Understand..."
"You basically just told me you read my novels, only someone that does would know this at all," Laios said, being more direct this time. "I haven't shown anyone other than Falin that feather."
This must mean Laios wanted to show him his collection, just Toshiro, and only him.
"Are you serious?"
Laios laughed, ruffling the back of his head. "Yeah. Y'know, it really makes me happy knowing you like my work."
Toshiro walked past him, pink coloring his pale cheeks, and it wasn't from the cold weather.
"Wait, Toshiro! Where are you going?!" Laios chased after him.
"Far away from you." Toshiro muttered.
"Just hold on a second!" Laios grabbed his arm, shifting in front of him on his feet. "I'm not trying to make fun of you about it!"
"The similarities between you and your writing made me feel like I've gone insane, and I've been keeping this in for weeks and weeks without saying a word about it," Toshiro confessed. When he saw that Laios wasn't reacting, he came to a disturbing conclusion. "How long have you known?"
"Hmm..." Laios hummed, taking his hand off Toshiro's arm. "I just had a feeling, I guess? Besides, you were kind of acting off since then. At first I thought you were freaked out, but that can't be the case. Then there was the possibility you knew about my work. I didn't want to ask you outright. I thought it was a stretch, so I was hoping you'd come to me about it."
There was no reason to try to fight this. Laios had him cornered.
"I'd have to admit, you are a remarkable writer," Toshiro said begrudgingly. "You and your protagonists have some things in common. Brash, insatiable, oblivious, surprisingly perceptive to other's emotions." And those just happened to be the traits that drew Toshiro to Laios in the first place. "But their resolve..." Laios stared at him intensely as he continued, hoping he could ignore his nerves, "is nothing like I've ever seen, I can't believe I'm saying this, I feel as if if they keep going on they could rule the world someday and succeed."
Laios' smile was warm, hearing Toshiro's feedback. "Yeah?"
He was suddenly closer than before, close enough for their lips to touch if he had taken another step.
"Yes." Toshiro whispered, a breath away from feeling Laios' lips on his, a hand on his chest, tilting his head up slightly.
Just as Laios was about to grant that wish, stirring Toshiro's gut, he snapped out of it last minute, stepping away.
"I should, uh, get home-" Toshiro blurted, eyes darting from Laios.
"Oh," Laios coughed, covering his mouth with his palm. "Okay. Sorry, I know you have an exam tomorrow morning. Can I walk you home?"
Toshiro waved his hand. "You don't have to do that-"
"Please." Laios begged, coming closer again. Toshiro stumbled back, because if he were in the same position as he were in before he was going to do something he'd regret in the morning. "Can I?"
Laios was just walking him home - an innocent gesture of kindness he'd been doing for some time now. It shouldn't mean anything, should it? He practically confessed that he idolized Toshiro and how happy it made him to know Toshiro was a reader of his novels. It was sure to affect their relationship in some capacity; but maybe if they pretended otherwise, it wouldn't make things weird between them.
Toshiro nodded. When he walked, he slowed his pace for Laios to catch up. Somehow, their arms couldn't stop brushing on the entire walk back, but neither of them could bring themselves to look at each other, far too embarrassed to.
Who were they kidding, they couldn't be subtle about their feelings on the situation to save their lives.

"If blood shall be spilt"
Genre: fluff/royalty AU
Pairing: human!Krioff × reader
Warnings: none
For the January prompts (the link takes you to the specific prompts and the blog itself. So credits to the writer of this blog post for the prompts and for inspiring me.)
A/N: Krioff is a guard/paladin/knight (WHATEVER YOU WANNA CALL IT, I GUESS😭😭😭). (Wakey wakey. Daddy's online. @danathefathippo 😚😚💕💕💕) Also, I feel like this may have many typos, because I'm writing in the cold, so..... My fingers are trembling.🫠🫠 Btw, it's my second name day today WOHHOOOO I HAVE A MIDDLE NAME HAHAHA
Tumblr media
Prompt: Rules (Day 20 January 2025)
--------------------------------------------
Krioff held up his iron shield, the sunlight streaming into the palace halls through the stained class of the windows, reflecting onto its surface.
I instinctively held onto Krioff's free forearm, clutching the hard material of his armour, as he guided me through the overflowing hallways.
A huge celebration was held in my father's honour, like the mighty king he is, but soon enough, I grew tired and displeased by all the requests for a dance and pleadings for my hand in matrimony.
So Krioff—my personal guard—is making sure I return to my bedchambers safely, despite the swarm of servants and nobles stumbling all over the red and gold carpet.
Krioff placed a palm on my left arm and guided me farther into the hallway, without lowering his shield.
"Ser." I said, trying to crane my neck to gaze up at him.
His light grey eyes pierced themselves into mine, like silver blades, wishing to slice my very soul apart, along with what little morals I had left. "You'll trip."
I nodded and kept walking, lifting up my gown a little, to walk better, trying to hold up as much fabric as possible, silk and velvet slipping out of my fingers, as if they only wished for freedom.
I sighed, frustrated with my predicament.
Krioff groaned and suddenly, he reached out with rough and calloused hands, grabbing my gown and holding it up for me himself.
My eyes widened.
"Walk." He said and returned me to the present. To the crowded hallway of the palace, the noise, the perfumes choking me and my heels sinking into the carpet.
Once we made it safely to my bedchambers, Krioff let go of my dress and pushed the large oak door shut.
I breathed out, placing a hand on my sternum and feeling my racing heartbeat and restless pulse.
Not from the hallway, no. Not even from the arrogant so-called suitors—a name they have given their own selves—their dreams obviously too big and their delusions even bigger!
But...
I looked up a Krioff, the guard that's been assigned to me for almost three years now.
The man who's haunted me. My body, my soul, my mind—even if he never really had them.
This man, who's become my nightly and daily prayer. The curse that just won't let me rest.
He looked at me too and for a moment, the noise of plates, silverware and chatter faded, as if it was all a bad dream.
As if I wasn't the princess and he wasn't the commoner... As if we were just two people standing in a meadow, free to write our own history, with an ink that wouldn't turn into blood.
"Ser."
He hummed, although I wasn't entirely certain he was listening to me.
"Ser." I tried again.
"What?" He asked blunted, his tone like the thunder of an axe falling onto the ground after bloodshed. He took a step back and although I flinched, I did not back away. I didn't want to.
"It's late." I said, breathing in, but that too was ridiculously shaky. "You should... Be relieved of your duty for tonight."
He stared silently. And then... Pulled something white and small out of breastplate. A folded handkerchief with my initials embroidered on it in gold. "This... Is yours?"
My eyebrows rose. "It is!"
He held it out for me and I took it, his armour clanking as his arm fell back to his side.
"I thank you! I must have dropped it during the ball, didn't I?"
He nodded, grunting in response. "You did. I..." He hesitated, looking away and if it wasn't for the lighting playing tricks on me behind the curtains, I could've sworn his cheeks darkened a little. "I figured you wouldn't want anyone stepping on it."
I smiled kindly. "You thought well." I said.
"Gods..." I heard him curse beneath his breath.
"Excuse me?"
"You." He said, looking down at the handkerchief in my hands. "You—... You will lead me to lose my head one day."
"What?" My eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "I'm not sure I—"
"Good night, princess." He said suddenly and turned to leave, but I...
I grabbed and held onto his wrist tightly. "Wait a minute! You said something. Finish it. Why would you lose your head?"
"Can't."
"Why—"
"Because I cannot be feeling anything towards you. Those are the rules." He said abruptly.
I hushed, my hand trembling slightly in realization, as it fell away from his grey armour. "And..." I swallowed thickly. "Rules..." I said. "Rules shall be obeyed."
"Right..." He sighed, his hand coming to grab at the hairs on his nape. "They are." He said. "Of course." He slowly turned around, facing me.
He's tall and, oh, so gorgeous. Would it be worth the cost of just one ki—
"To hell with it." Krioff's hands slid up my jawline, caressing my cheeks in a way I've only ever dared to dream of. His fingers tangled in my hair and he kissed me.
As if the strings connecting me to my puppeteer's fingers had snapped, my body wavered and my resolve and better judgement crumbled and I allowed myself to fall against his chest.
He kissed me hungrily, his head tilting to the side to deepen the kiss and I pulled him closer to me, as if I wanted to crawl inside his mind and haunt him for all his lives to come.
The two of us had chosen this path together and if blood shall be spilt, it shall be spilt on both our heads.

Modern Benelope AU Plot Bunny for Adoption
Inspired by A Cinderella Story (2004, starring Hilary Duff & Chad Michael Murray)
Penelope Featherington is an introverted but sharp-witted creative writing student at a prestigious university known for turning out literary legends. By day, she’s virtually invisible—her confidence buried under oversized sweaters, messy buns, and a chronic fear of public speaking. In class, her professors barely remember her name, and her peers overlook her entirely.
But by night—and online—Penelope is LadyWhistledown, a mysterious, bestselling fantasy author whose scathing wit and lyrical prose have earned her a cult following. Her books are lauded for their epic world-building and unapologetically fierce heroines, but no one knows her real identity—not even her agent.
Her only confidante is her outspoken, fiercely loyal best friend, Eloise Bridgerton, who keeps urging Penelope to come out of her shell, publish under her real name, and take the literary world by storm. But Penelope’s been burned before—mocked in high school for her writing, laughed at for dreaming too big, and ghosted by a boy she once trusted.
Enter Benedict Bridgerton, a senior art student, golden boy of the campus gallery scene, and Eloise’s effortlessly charming older brother. Known for his easy smile, bohemian fashion sense, and magnetic presence, he’s as popular as Penelope is invisible. But there’s more to him than the glittering façade. Privately, Benedict is grappling with a creative crisis—haunted by the suspicion that his art, while technically impressive, lacks substance. That it says nothing real.
Recently, under the pseudonym TheBrushPrince, he’s begun anonymously sharing raw, emotional sketches online—unguarded glimpses into his psyche. There, for the first time, he creates without expectation, without performance. Among his early admirers: LadyWhistledown.
When their Advanced Creative Collaboration professor assigns a semester-long, anonymous partner project pairing writers and visual artists, the class buzzes with excitement—and dread. Students are forbidden from revealing their identities until the final showcase, a challenge meant to strip away ego and spark authentic connection.
Penelope is assigned TheBrushPrince. She braces herself for another cocky art bro with nothing to say.
But then she receives his first piece: a haunting charcoal sketch of a girl at the edge of a cliff, cloaked in wind and grief. It steals her breath.
Likewise, Benedict receives LadyWhistledown’s opening submission—a sharp, poetic fantasy about a warrior girl forced to wear the mask of a meek maiden in a land ruled by image and reputation. Her words cut through his creative stagnation like a lightning bolt.
They begin a slow-burn exchange of emails—initially professional, then increasingly witty, personal, even intimate. Under the safety of anonymity, Penelope writes with a fearlessness she’s never shown in person. Benedict, in turn, shares the thoughts he’s never said aloud. They trade favorite books, late-night sketches, pieces of half-formed dreams.
What neither knows is that they’ve met before—many times. Benedict has encountered Penelope countless times at Eloise’s gatherings and around campus. She’s just “Eloise’s quiet friend”—the girl with the notebooks and the sad eyes, always on the periphery. He barely notices her.
But Penelope? She’s noticed him for years.
As their online connection deepens, things grow more complicated in the real world. Penelope begins to see flashes of the artist behind TheBrushPrince in Benedict’s everyday frustrations, the things he says in passing, the look in his eyes when he thinks no one’s watching. The clues pile up. Could it really be him?
Meanwhile, Benedict finds himself increasingly drawn to Penelope in real life. Her quiet confidence, her dry wit, her observations so razor-sharp they leave him reeling. There’s something about her he can’t shake. Something… familiar.
And then, a turning point: a campus gallery event. Penelope, urged by Eloise, works up the courage to attend. She lingers in the background, watching Benedict charm the crowd like he was born to it. But then he escapes to the courtyard, sketchbook in hand—seeking solitude beneath the stars.
Summoning every ounce of bravery, Penelope approaches him. Their conversation is awkward but electric—unfiltered in a way neither of them expected. She says something—an image, a metaphor—one he remembers from LadyWhistledown’s last message.
Something clicks.
Not certainty. But possibility.
Benedict starts watching more closely. He matches words, tone, mannerisms. The way she phrases things. The way her fingers twitch like she’s writing even when she’s not.
Around the same time, TheBrushPrince sends LadyWhistledown a message:
“I’d like to meet you. No pressure. Just… a coffee. A face to the name.”
Panic.
Penelope debates telling him the truth. Eloise urges her to take the leap. But the fear claws in again. What if he’s disappointed? What if everything shatters?
So she ghosts him—for two days.
Benedict spirals. He re-reads her messages. Re-draws her characters. Fears he’s lost something irreplaceable.
Then comes the final showcase.
Their project—an illustrated narrative of a masked warrior and the artist who sees her—is placed on the central pedestal. It’s raw. Emotional. Unflinching.
The final line is signed:
—Yours, always, LadyWhistledown.
Benedict reads it, heart thundering.
And then the names are announced:
“Penelope Featherington and Benedict Bridgerton.”
The room hushes.
He turns. Sees her.
And sees her.
Everything clicks into place.
Penelope freezes.
He walks toward her—slowly, gently—as if afraid she’ll vanish. The crowd fades to a distant hum.
“I… I need to get out,” she stammers, bolting.
She bursts into the night air, chest heaving. Panic. Shame. Rain begins to fall.
Behind her: “Penelope, wait!”
Benedict catches up. She won’t look at him.
“I’m scared,” she whispers. “Scared that once you see all of me—the real me—you’ll regret ever caring.”
He cups her face, rain dripping between them.
“I already see you, Pen. I’ve seen you for pages and paragraphs and sketches. I love you—not the name, not the mystery. You. Every messy, brilliant, breathtaking part of you.”
The rain pours down. She laughs through a sob. “You’re insane.”
“Maybe,” he grins. “But I’m yours.”
Their kiss is soft, soaked, and slow—unfolding like a promise in the middle of a storm.
Six Months Later
The Bridgertons didn’t do subtle. Penelope had learned this within five minutes of arriving at their countryside lake house for Violet’s “casual” family weekend—which somehow involved themed brunches, curated playlists, and matching linen loungewear.
She was currently curled up on the back porch, barefoot, a mug of tea in hand, watching the chaos unfold on the lawn. Eloise and Gregory were locked in a heated board game war. Hyacinth was painting Francesca’s nails a color that could only be described as “glitter attack.” Colin was manning the grill like Gordon Ramsay—despite having burned toast just last week.
Benedict emerged with two mugs of tea. He handed her one and dropped beside her, their shoulders brushing.
“You’re still here,” he teased.
“Tempting as it was to fake a work emergency and vanish after Hyacinth grilled me on every fictional character I’ve ever killed off… yes. I stayed.”
He kissed her temple. “They love you.”
“They’re intense,” she said. “In a good way. Like adopting eight golden retrievers at once.”
“You’re lucky,” he deadpanned. “This is them on their best behavior.”
Just then, Daphne shouted about group photos and Violet chimed in with, “Make sure to get one with Penelope—she’s family now!”
Penelope flushed. “Your mom’s going to make me a scrapbook, isn’t she?”
“Probably.”
She wandered down the lake path for a breather, needing a moment to take it all in.
“Didn’t take long to figure out you’d be here,” came a voice behind her.
Anthony.
He stepped up beside her, uncharacteristically calm. “They can be a bit much.”
Penelope smiled. “You said it.”
“I wanted to tell you something,” he said after a beat. “I’ve always thought of you as one of my sisters. Firefly.”
She blinked. “Wait—Firefly?”
He smiled. “Yeah. Small, fierce, glowing. Even when you didn’t know it.”
Her throat tightened.
“I didn’t want to overwhelm you,” he added. “But I saw you, Penelope. I always did. And I love you. You’re family. Officially or not.”
Tears stung her eyes.
“You’re going to make me cry, and then Hyacinth will never let me live it down.”
“She cries at dog food commercials,” Anthony said dryly.
She laughed. He kissed the top of her head.
As they walked back, she spotted Benedict waiting at the hilltop, hands in his pockets, that soft smile just for her.
And in that moment, warm from Anthony’s words, and steadied by Benedict’s gaze, Penelope knew:
She wasn’t invisible anymore.
She had a voice.
She had a love.
And, finally, she had a home.

could you tell me more about the postcanon p5 and p3 wip? 👀
ask game
this au is an excuse to make characters not a fucking cops and also make my own persona 6 (a rite of passage for any persona fic writer)
so basically, i think the phantom thieves polycule should get back together and then be recruited by mitsuru to join the new shadow ops. the shadow ops now are a private investigative agency apart from the police so they can get around some red tape that made it hard to do things like, say, get akira out of being questioned and beat the shit out of by the police.
so yeah now the phantom thieves are adults, akira was able to convince sojiro to let him run the cafe a few days a week. he does online classes and can't resist digging up dirt on shitty authorities and being like hey futaba check this out, mona helps him out with that. futaba is also doing online schooling and gets money from a mysterious source......
ann is doing modeling oversees at the time of the start of this, ryuji is in between track seasons and spends way too much time in leblanc (gayass), yusuke sells his art and also spends too much time in leblanc (gayass pt2), haru and makoto are on their honeymoon doing their thing in sapporo (makoto is becoming disillusioned with police work, haru has opened up her first cafe there and runs it).
basically mitsuru approaches akira and is like hey we want to make things better but laws suck but also we dont want to risk corruption can the PT be on an unofficial team for the shadow ops while also being allowed to do their own thing. by the time they accept a new cognitive world pops up on their radar, and thats where the ocs come in and things get complicated in a way i dont have energy to explain sorry.
so here read this also fuck cops
One day things will get better, has been the mantra that Makoto has been chanting since she was assigned to Sapporo. That, and, these things take time.
Her goal to become a police commissioner took a bit of a turn the more she went through college. But she was here now, working with the investigations unit at the Sapporo Police Department.
It… wasn’t what it seemed when she first joined. As the newbie, she’d been mostly shadowing under her boss so far, contributing to maybe one or two cases for a year. But it was fine, these things took time. She could change the system, but she just had to be patient.
It was a little hard to be patient, though, when her boss treated her like she was his personal servant.
Makoto filled up the coffee mug for the third time this evening, trying to suppress the scowl on her face. One of her colleagues in the unit, a nice man named Nagaki, walked in the room.
She remembered the conversation they had the other day, when she intervened with one of the officers in an interrogation room. Makoto had gotten in more trouble than the officer who was about to get violent, and the situation had shaken her.
Nagaki had kindly come up to her after the incident and told her she did a good thing. “But,” he said quietly, “Good things aren’t appreciated around here. Not without status.”
“Can I be honest with you?” She had said, still reeling from her reprimand. “I joined the police to change things. My dad was an officer, he was kind, and I was hoping to make the system more like him.”
“It’s a good goal to have, but it’s not going to happen if you’re here.” He scoffed, bitter. “Either quit or get fired.”
He’d walked off after that, ending the conversation before she could ask. But his words have been rattling in her head ever since. She couldn’t believe it. He’d been in this line of work far longer than her, but she felt she was different. She had to be different if things were going to change.
One day things will get better, but why did it feel like things were only getting worse?

FAQs
When will this event take place?
Sign Up: September 15 - October 15
Prompts Delivered: October 23
First Check-In: November 15
Second Check-In: December 15
Gifts Posted: December 24
What is a gift exchange/how does it work?
A gift exchange is exactly what it sounds like in the name, an exchange of gifts in the fandom! From Sept. 15 st to Oct. 15th sign ups will be open. When you sign up, you’ll state whether you’re an artist or writer (if you’re interested in doing something besides digital art/posting writing online please contact us), your social media handle, and what you would like in a gift (anything, set in canon, sharing a bed, etc.) and what you don’t want (coffee shop AU, angst, miscommunication, etc.). Then what kind of content you feel comfortable making and what kind of content you don’t. You will not be asked to make anything on our “not allowed” list. Sign ups will close on Oct. 15th and we will do our best to match you with another participant that feels comfortable making the gift you want. No one will be asked to make content they feel uncomfortable with. On Oct. 23rd the mod will contact you with the name of your gift’s recipient and what they want/don’t want, the person making your own gift will be a surprise. You’ll work on their gift and the mod will ask you how you’re doing twice (check ins 1 and 2). If you can’t finish your gift, please let us know before Dec. 15th. Then on Dec. 24th you’ll post your gift on and tag your recipient. Make sure to check for your own gift in return!
What if there’s someone I don’t feel comfortable making a gift for/having them make a gift for me?
If you think the person is going to sign up, please note it in the ‘questions/comments/concerns’ section of your own sign up form and we will not assign you their gift or have them make yours. If you’re not sure they’re participating, we’ll post a list of the contributors who’ve signed up on Oct. 16th, the day after sign-ups close. Please dm us on Tumblr or Twitter and we’ll make sure you’re not assigned to them. We will not ask you to explain why you don’t feel comfortable making a gift for the person, we only want everyone to be able to enjoy the event the best they can 💖
What if I want a specific artist/author? Or I want art not a fic/fic not art?
To make it fair to everyone, we do not allow participants to choose a specific artist/author or the medium of the gift they receive. The only exception is if there’s a particular person you don’t feel comfortable making a gift for/receiving a gift from.
Will we have access to the list of participants before the matching?
Yes! On Oct. 16th, the contributor list will be posted to Twitter and Tumblr. It will be names only, but give everyone a little preview of authors and artists to follow 😉
How do I post work?
On Tumblr: post/link work @ this blog (@hashimada-giftexchange) AND your gift’s recipient and tag it with #hashimadagiftexchange2024. If it’s not reblogged within 24 hours, feel free to send an ask/dm, it might have gotten buried!
On Twitter: post/link work @ this account (@hsmdgexchange) AND your gift’s recipient and tag it with #hsmdgiftexchange2024. If it’s not reblogged within 24 hours, feel free to send a dm/tag us, it might have gotten buried!
Please note: Due to logistics Tumblr and Twitter will have “separate” but concurring events. If you sign up for the Tumblr exchange, your recipient will be from Tumblr, and vice versa with Twitter. You can sign up for both Tumblr and Twitter events and receive two gifts, but you will be expected to make two in turn.
Will an Ao3 Collection be made for this event?
Yes! It will be under “HashiMada_GiftExchange_2024” and will be open a week before posting begins, but this is a Tumblr/Twitter event so please make sure to post it there too. Your recipient may not have an Ao3 account.
What if I want to request something in your rule’s ‘not allowed’ list?
If you want to set up a personal exchange with a specific artist/author with no restrictions, you are more than welcome to. However, this is a public event meant to appeal to a wide audience.
Is early/late posting allowed?
Please do not post anything early or late. This is a gift exchange meant to coincide with Madara’s birthday so there is a hard deadline for this event, but feel free to post any time on December 24th, no matter your timezone. Make sure that your gift is fully complete by the day of posting.
If you cannot complete your gift, inform us before the second check-in (December 15), the sooner the better. If you fail to do so/or don’t complete and post your work on the posting date, you will not be allowed to join our future gift exchange events. (With the exception of extenuating circumstances. Ex. If you have a medical emergency that prevents you from posting on the day.)
If you will be traveling for Christmas/unavailable the day of posting, you can post the gift early, but please inform us first so we can make a note of it.
Can I reuse old works for this event?
No, sorry! Only new content, please!
Is there a minimum word count for fics/completion status for fanart?
Fics: 1K words
Art: completed line art/simple coloring without heavy render
No maximum. Feel free to write 10K+ words and do fully rendered art, we’re sure your recipient would be thrilled 😉
If you have any questions or are interested in something other than traditional/digital art please reach out!
Are fanfics only allowed in English?
Yes, this event will be English-only as your recipient may not speak another language. You can post a version in your native language as well, but please make sure there is an English version too.

🌻what makes you want to give up on writing? what makes you keep going?
🎈describe your style as a writer; is it fixed? does it change?
💌share something with us about an up-and-coming work (WIP) that has you excited!
Hi Diana! Thank you for asking!
🌻what makes you want to give up on writing? what makes you keep going?
Writing makes me happy; it's my happy place. It's a way to express emotions and explore complex subjects. (And to make the blorbos kiss).
Dickheads like this make me want to give up:
Tumblr media
(No worries, this is an old comment, but this one truly affected me back then. Honestly, it still does, even if just a little bit. Don't be a dick to fan content creators. Just keep scrolling.)
🎈describe your style as a writer; is it fixed? does it change?
Oh, it's definitely changed. First of all, my English has gotten much better since 2008, when I first started writing fic. I learnt English when we lived in the US from '01-'03, but my level of English kind of remained at that 3rd grade level afterwards. Writing fic and interacting with fandom online has improved my English immensely. I still make mistakes, but they're not as horrific anymore. (I once had a character use the word "broth" to informally refer to a woman multiple times throughout a fic around 2009 or 2010. I was looking for "broad".)
Other than that, I fluctuate between styles a lot. During Timeless it was more decorative, though not purple prose just yet. When I'm feeling particularly passionate, I'll write prose poetry. Currently I'm on a dialogue-heavy spree, and I like it.
Also, I've matured, as had my writing.
💌share something with us about an up-and-coming work (WIP) that has you excited!
As excited as I am for my Hitman ballet AU, I don't want to spoil it too much. So instead I'll tell you something about the Christmas fic that I hope to get done before the new year (not my Yuletide assignment): I'm shoving Diana Burnwood into a Renee Zellweger romantic comedy whether she likes it or not, featuring small town hunk 47 and his little sister Victoria. And tapioca, probably.

Extended commentary on my SayoRin AU fic
Because I wanted to refrain from rambling too much in the ao3 author's notes, I've consolidated some extended thoughts/fun facts about Morning Star in the Night Sky in this Tumblr post.
Inspiration for the fic
After watching It's MyGo!!!!!, I started revisiting the original Bandori franchise and was drawn to SayoRin again. As mentioned in another post, I have a soft spot for this particular ship among other Bandori ships, and I was compelled to write a new fic about them.
So also recently I wrote a KumiRei post-canon fic at the end of Hibike! Euphonium S3, and one of the small details I included in my post-canon worldbuilding was that adult Reina casually dated some asshole guys while in America and vented to Kumiko every time she broke up with them, and one of them was a jazz pianist. When I was finished with the main fic, I wrote a short fic about her relationship with that jazz pianist on a whim, but I decided not to publish it online because it's not really that great and the KumiRei content in that fic isn't much (it was mostly a self-indulgent Reina character study if anything). But I decided to adapt that opening scene in my fic as the scene where Sayo meets Rinko for the first time in my AU, and I basically took the story from there.
For some fics, most of the plotline and even specific conversations form in my head almost as soon as the idea comes to me. For this fic, this was the exact opposite - I started with almost nothing except a simple premise, and developed the plot outline bit by bit as I wrote and thought about the fic. I honestly did enjoy the ideation process, it was a fun way to occupy my time while going on a run or during pockets of free time, though getting to writing and editing can be painful when I'm not in a flow state LOL.
Chapter 3
1. I forgot to mention this in the notes, but the quote "Practise like you're on stage, and when you’re on stage treat it like it's practice" is actually one of Sayo's in-game voicelines during lives when you use her in your team, if I remember correctly (I haven't played the game in ages). I'm not sure what's the official English translation for that line as I only played the JP version of Girls Band Party, but I tried my best to make the translation sound less awkward, I swear it sounds a lot better in the original Japanese.
Chapter 6
1. Before the universities were introduced into the Bandori canon, I used to have this headcanon that Sayo would choose accountancy as her university major after reading one of the earliest event stories where she literally used a ruler to measure the thickness of the dough while baking cookies with Lisa. That obsession and attention to detail is such an accountant-like personality trait, speaking as an accountant/financial analyst myself. So I was kinda disappointed when the writers decided to make her a law major instead 😂 We need more accountant representation in media LOL
2. Also on the last part of the chapter, I have no clue how job/client scheduling in a law firm works haha. I kinda assumed that it's similar to my experience in an accounting services firm where you get assigned to different clients based on the headcount/resource requirements and timeline of the job.
Chapter 7
1. Nagano is indeed about a 3 hour drive away from Tokyo, and also known for its mountains! The setting was loosely inspired by this car camping Youtuber, Tabi-ie, who lives in Nagano and frequently camps overnight in the mountains. His videos have a really relaxing and peaceful vibe, and it's nice to put on in the background if you want to unwind, so I highly recommend checking it out!
2. I also did some research on constellations, and Andromeda and the Andromeda galaxy are usually visible only during Autumn!
Afterthoughts
I've already aired my thoughts about SayoRin in a previous post so I shan't repeat myself here. But I'm grateful for everyone who has read and followed the story since the beginning - it truly makes the sleep deprivation from writing this entire fic worth it for me haha
