Health Advantages of Strength Training for Women in Sydney
Strength training for women Sydney has become dynamically notable as extra women see its substantial health benefits. Beyond muscle building and strength training, updating health, fitness, and well-being is essential. Whether you're expecting to deal with your physical performance or have to feel more grounded and energetic, incorporating strength training into your routine can make a significant difference.
Tumblr media
How Strength Training Can Benefit a Woman's Body?
Strength training for women in Sydney benefits women in several ways. It improves body composition and strengthens bones. There are other advantages as well. So, let's know that!
Boosts Metabolism
Strength training is a major area of strength for aiding metabolism. By expanding muscle mass, women can work on their body's ability to burn calories regardless of when they are extremely still. This metabolic lift supports weight management and improves energy levels.
Enhances Bone Health
Ordinary-strength training can help forestall osteoporosis and improve bone thickness. Weight-bearing exercises or a 12-week 200m sprint training program stimulate bone turnover, which is especially pressing for women as they age. This training strengthens the skeletal system and diminishes the risk of fractures.
Improves Muscle Tone and Strength
Partaking in strength training helps with building and staying aware of muscle mass. This tones the body and augments functional strength, making ordinary endeavours more straightforward and working on all-around physical performance. This extra strength can be a special benefit for those partaking in sports or other physical activities.
Tumblr media
Supports Mental Health
Workouts, including strength training, have been shown to chip away at mental health by diminishing symptoms of anxiety and depression. The endorphins conveyed during an activity are probably natural mood lifters, propelling a sensation of flourishing and supporting certainty.
Enhances Functional Fitness
Strength training improves functional fitness, which is pressing for common activities. By strengthening and stabilizing, women can move even more freely and perform everyday errands without any problem, provoking better private fulfillment.
Conclusion
Join a fitted strength training program in Sydney and be ready to experience these benefits. This will help you start your trip toward a healthier life. Explore sports coaching courses in Sydney to develop your fitness regime further. Branch out today and transform your life with the force of strength training at our academy.

I think a lot of transfemme culture is formed and cultivated by how we were rejected and desperately tried to fit it.
like, take transfemme memes. a lot of memes are about how broad generalizations such as "trans women do this thing", the thing being computer programming or enjoying a particular video game. and while I won't deny that a lot of trans women do those things, the vast majority don't. so why are things like programmer socks and fallout new vegas and bionicals and gundam so popular with trans women despite them not being universally applicable?
I think it might have to do with our being rejected as kids and how we would do everything we could to try and be accepted by others.
maybe this only applies to me. I'm definitely not trying to make a broad generalization to explain other broad generalizations. I'm basing this primarily on my experiences.
but when I was in middle school and high school, I used to lie about watching certain movies or playing certain games even when I didn't. I could have been because my parents wouldn't let me, I couldn't afford them, or I just wasn't actually interested. but most of what I was interested was very niche nerdy things like anime and computers and math and art. but in a desperate attempt to join in conversations and make friends, I would lie and say I was interested in the popular things so other people would accept me.
now, years later, the internet connects us and helps us explore our nerdy interests much more. I remember I was the only person at high school who cared at all about undertale, but then I found tumblr and whole communities online who would talk about the game I played. they also got me interested in things I never would have been into otherwise. transgender people online got me into star wars (which I regret) and evangelion (which I also regret but not as much). and there are some things that I've never experienced, but still know about due to cultural osmosis. I know a lot about fallout new vegas and magic the gathering and ultrakill despite never playing them. I would consider myself part of those fandoms despite never really interacting with the content, just because I have so many online trans friends who are into those things.
I think that the most popular things just happened to become transfemme memes due to how many nerdy trans people unapologetically love them online, and people who have never experienced them but are friends with the people who do love them agree with them to fit in.
I'm not saying this is a bad thing. it's perfectly fine to be part of a fandom or community even if you don't have a huge interest in it just to be with your friends. I'm not super interested in ttrpgs, but I still play just because I like hanging out with my friends.
computer programming is popular in trans women circles not because all trans women are computer programmers. it's popular because it's a booming industry and the small percentage of trans women who are computer programmers really enjoy it and talk about it online, and their online friends support them and agree with them even if they aren't computer programmers themselves.
idk. I forget where I was going with this. I just think it's really nice how trans women, and honestly the entire queer community as a whole, tends to support each other's niche interests and uplift each other.

SISSY TRAINING PROGRAM FOR NEWBIES AND EXPERIENCED SISSY
WHO are struggling with their Gurly side and fantasy
Sissy Training: A Complete Beginner’s Guide
Unlock confidence and self-expression with our comprehensive beginner’s guide to sissy training.
Introduction
What’s sissy training, you ask? Well, if you’re here, you might have some ideas about it. But let’s clear up any confusion anyhow.
Sissy training is a transformative process that involves highlighting an ultra-feminine, drastically submissive persona.
For sissies, it’s a channel to locate, accept, and show off their authentic selves.
It’s not easy to find mediums for sissy training though.
Not when society is still, shall we say, narrow-minded. But just imagine it— just how liberating will it be to express your sissified self?
Many folks out there mistakenly think that sissy training is just about humiliation.
Absolutely not! It’s about finding power in being able to act without any inhibitions. Read on to learn more!
Understanding The Term “Sissy”
Some people might flinch at the term “sissy,” — a reaction we get thanks to society’s tendency to paint it in the wrong light.
But here’s the thing: we’re not society. We’re the redefiners, and so we must call out this misconception.
Today, “sissy” isn’t a smear or an insult. It’s a badge of honor, a sign of courage and self-acceptance.
“Sissy,” in its purest form, refers to a man who drowns himself immense femininity. Why would a man want this?
Think of it like a man’s breather in a world that expects him to do manly things. Such include being strong in every situation possible.
And pretending to be strong is very draining and exhausting.
It’s a man’s way to just let go. To be more intuned with his feminine persona and to heal.
To discover aspects of himself without shame and fear. A sissy can even adopt alter egos to explore more.
Does it involve submission? Sure, it can. But it’s not a one-size-fits-all label. It’s varied and rare for every practitioner.
The Basics of Sissy Training
Right off the bat, let’s address the elephant in the room: starting isn’t easy.
Heck, even I, with all my years of experience, look back on those initial, nerve-wracking steps. But guess what?
Nothing worth achieving comes easy.
Sissy training involves every feminine thing you can imagine. Femme behaviors?
Check. Femme clothes? Check. Femme thinking? Check!
The essence of sissy training lies in understanding that femininity isn’t a monolith— it’s a spectrum.
When you choose to be a sissy, you welcome the vulnerability and softness that comes with it.
But do not ever get this wrong— this “mellowness” also develops distinct strengths.
Such involves resilience and courage. They always go hand in hand, a part of the package.
Here’s a rundown of the absolute basics you must master first before progressing your sissy training:
Immerse yourself completely in your new sissy identity to commemorate your progress!
I’m talking head-to-toe transformation. And so, here are some practical advice I’ve picked up from my very own sissy education:
Dress the Part
What’s the best and easiest way to welcome your femme side?
A closet filled with your favorite women’s clothes, of course! But don’t just get everything!
Get those that fit you perfectly. Only give space in your wardrobe for those that complement your body type.
Your garb should also reflect your femme personality.
To help you get started, I suggest starting with the basics: a nice pair of stockings, a classy little black dress, and, of course, a pair of shoes that make you feel like a queen.
If you don’t have money to splurge, invest time rummaging through thrift stores, online sales, and hand-me-downs! Adopt Feminine Mannerisms
Do you want to look like a sailor dared by his unfunny friends to wear a dress for laughs?
Of course not! Your clothes make up about 50% of your presentation, but your gestures and poise, oh— they will take that up to 100%!
How can you “adopt” these mannerisms? Simple! By observing and engaging with the women around you!
Research indicates that you subconsciously mimic those you interact with, so take full advantage of this science!
Take note of how your graceful lady friend speaks, moves, and expresses their thoughts and feelings.
Who is involved in sissy training? It includes you— a male-to-female crossdresser (aka sissy).
You’ll go through various practices to make you an ultra-fem, subservient to another party in sissy training, your dom.
Other participants are your support system. It can include your fellow sissies, mentors, and allies.
How do I start my journey with sissy training?
Acceptance is first. Then, identify your motivations and objectives. Doing so will make your journey smoother since you have a map you follow. FOR QUESTIONS AND MORE INFORMATION ON HOW TO SIGN UP FOR THE TRAINING PROGRAM EMAIL : [email protected]

So apparently AEW pays well and that's bad?
I know a couple of current WWE folks who definitely got better contracts simply because AEW existed and, thus, created a world where people might jump ship and go somewhere else.
But yeah, I don't know, people are fuckin' crazy. That said, with all of the recent free agent talk going around and that article that is all "WWE needs to look in the mirror about why they keep losing free agents to AEW," I think that's a little off the mark.
Like, yes, in a theoretical, big-picture kind of way the WWE should probably ask themselves why people would want to work anywhere else. And they can chalk it up to "well, we've had some negative press lately" or "this person just didn't want to work as many dates" or whatever. Each case will be different. But I think in the three recent cases cited, there are very real life reasons why none of those three would go with WWE. It's great that the offer from AEW was better and, honestly, I think those signees will easily find more success in AEW than they would in WWE.
Like let's not kid ourselves here: WWE could have offered Okada a fuckton of money, but would he actually make a meaningful mark in the WWE? He'd come in, the announcers would have to spend a ton of time educating the audience on why he matters because most of their audience doesn't watch anything else, and he'd probably just end up being the next foreign heel. The types of great matches he had in NJPW aren't really the kinds of things that WWE is looking for or especially needs more of. They'd probably rush him into a main event program for three months or so and then do something embarrassing with him. He'd be tagging with Nakamura in a team with a vaguely racist-sounding name or something shitty like that. He'd be another amazing performer in search of a meaningful storyline and the WWE's midcard is fucking stuffed full of guys like that right now. He'd be losing to Karrion Kross by Survivor Series.
Tack on the notion that WWE's business is doing really well and they're selling tickets everywhere they go and inventing new, more evil forms of revenue all the time and it's easy to see that WWE doesn't need Okada. They need to be making sure that they have a fresh crop of young talent ready to take over when the current headliners fall off or move on. At 36, Okada isn't quite that guy.
However, Okada is a great fit for AEW and its audience. Too good, actually. I mean I don't think he'll be a "needle mover" on the ratings because anyone in this country who knows who Okada even is already watches AEW. They're super-serving their audience. They're "building golden toilets" for their fanbase. As someone who really likes that shit, I'm stoked. But the weirdo ratings nuts online who live and die by television ratings are melting down over "is Okada a draw or not" or something. And I think it'd probably be obvious to anyone who really sat down and thought about it that Okada wasn't ever going to drag in a whole new American audience.
I'd say mostly the same thing about Ospreay. He'd become the leader of the Catch Wrestling Crew or whatever the fuck they're called now.
The other thing I'd say is that, over time, a better program will probably attract a larger audience. So AEW's programming is better by way of these new signings. They're great performers and I think they both have the ability to be super big in the US for years to come, provided they're working somewhere that plays to their strengths.
Bringing Sasha Banks over to AEW has a chance to bring in new audience since she had a level of fame here in the States already and, hey, maybe fans of hers weren't already watching AEW. It's possible! Punk did it, right? We'll see. That might immediately make her more valuable than Ospreay and Okada. That said, there are already a ton of women that I'd love to see more of on AEW TV, so inserting another star at the top of that division kinda rubs me the wrong way.
Either way, I think these three specific cases are, well, specific enough that trying to use this to claim that WWE is "losing out" on this free agency stuff is probably wrong. They know how much they're willing to spend on an individual talent, they've been at this long enough to have a pretty good idea how some of these people are likely to monetize once they get there, and they're simply not going to overspend on any talent anymore because they're really focused on trying to bring in new talent and raise them up through their system. For all we know, AEW overspent on all three.
But they aren't spending my money, so fuck it! It's awesome! I only get mad when the people I want to see are locked behind the ROH paywall. Like Athena! Put her on real TV, she's fantastic! What the fuck!

Are people really out here arguing that Jimin is straight because of fucking pronouns????
WHO is a fucking awesome song, one that few singers could ever perform the way Jimin does. It's wonderfully written, and I don't think the pronouns are an indicator it was written for JK and Golden. That's an incredibly reductive take - not everything in BTS or Jikook lore is connected. The person first credited as a writer on Who on Genius is Ghstloop who worked on Like Crazy. Pdogg is also part of the SGMB. If that "theory" gets perpetuated online, and it would fit insanely well with deranged Solos, that'd just create a whole other mess.
Anyway. Now onto the whole pronouns thing itself. Firstly: ridiculous argument. Queer people have been using pronouns in songs that don't align with their sexuality for ages. First example that comes to my mind is Freddie Goddamn Mercury, and he was openly out! He still sang about and performed with women as his love interest in MVs.
Secondly: Jimin is enlisted in the fucking military right now. Do you really think THIS - a time where he can't actually speak for himself much, can't talk to the media, where only one member is "free" and BTS' position is still terrifyingly precarious (bc SK like every society is fickle af) - would be the moment he'd be coming out??
Thirdly: why is this the hill people wanna die on? Has this one song erased all the other very openly queer themes and imagery Jimin has used throughout his entire career? His photofolio? Like Crazy's MV? The whole concept of SMF2 ? Even Intro Rebirth his very much ambiguous in its wording (the JK imagery is also very much there, with the whole real love = Tokyo GCF = JK thing and the "you are my sunlight"). But from a music/selling standard, WHO is very much single material. It's catchy af, interesting musically (there is so much depth to it, especially compared to other pop songs at the moment). Why are people getting sad like it's this hymn to straight-ness?
I'm not saying Jimin isn't into women - if I was pressured to assume the sexuality of the BTS members it would be that they're all bi/pan.
And lastly: why does everything in the world have to fit into the Jikook lore? I say this as someone who - as shown above - does see that there's moments where my shipper self comes out and over-interprets stuff. Would I have been stoked by pronoun ambiguity? Yeah. Does WHO change my perception of what JM and JK - in my opinion which us just a very uneducated guess based on conjecture founded in video snippets of their lives- feel for each other? Nope. There's a mountain of things pointing towards the fact that they're very much committed to one another, the most current example being the fact that right before they started enlisting under the buddy program, they CHOSE to go traveling together instead of spending quality time with family or serious partners (not improbable for any in BTS to have despite their immense fame...meaning I won't get to date Yoongi...) or what have you. And no one say "oh it was for content". As if two members of THE BTS wouldn't be able to put their foot down and say sth about the scheduling.
Don't have anything to add, you've summed it up everything perfectly.

Hello! Not a kuro related ask but can i ask how can u tell if someone is a bot or not on tumblr? Also can they do any harm to your account?
⚠️ I originally expected to give a short answer, but there's actually a lot I can say about this, having become a regular target of bots. My blocked list has quite the collection! So it's kind of a long post.
How to spot bots and why they are bad
Some bots are easy to spot while others are not. And they are getting harder to spot, as whoever programs the bot generators is learning how to make them less noticeable. Or an AI that's been made is learning. 😳
Blog name patterns
You might have noticed how default blog urls here have four random words stuck together, and early bots used a similar pattern. But it has evolved. I recall seeing names that were two or three random words and a two digit number, typically from 20 to 50, presumably meant to be seen as a person's age. Like these:
Tumblr media
Then a different pattern was used, like two or three words then a hyphen then a number. Then another, like a first name mixed in with random words, etc. Now, it's harder to see a pattern, so some bot names now look more (or less) random... more like real blogs. If you see a new follower with a random name, it doesn't mean much, but if you see more and more followers with names that seem to fit a pattern (and it's not simply the tumblr default username pattern), then chances are, they are bots created with the same or a similar program. Here's an example of getting new followers where the names seem too random to be real but you don't really notice until you get a bunch in a row, and the randomness is itself a pattern:
Tumblr media
Profile pics that real tumblrs wouldn't choose
Often they used to have closeups of female faces. Now they still tend to have pictures of women, but not so zoomed in, and some even feature two women. Like here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Notice that three of the above examples follow a naming pattern of what could be actual people names and a number. The fourth is like that, too, but with a hyphen tossed in.
And bots sometimes have default profile pics that may or may not be changed later, so watch out for default pfp's that later get replaced with pics of random women. Usually young and somewhat attractive. Most of the bots are geared towards attracting hetero men, hence the female pfp's of generally attractive women. The hope is we see one of these pics and think that's actually what the blogger looks like.
Truth is, Tumblrs rarely choose pfp's like that. This isn't the kind of social media platform where we typically show our faces (unless it's a personal fashion or cosplay blog, and then we are probably wearing makeup and costumes). We choose pics of plants and animals, fictional characters, historical figures, celebrities, artwork, etc. It's unusual for us to market ourselves based on personal appearance. So, when you see a blog with a pfp that looks like it's from Instagram or LinkedIn... or from a dating profile... it's probably fake. They are just random pics found online and essentially stolen from whoever originally uploaded them.
Default header images or more random women
Usually, bots have blank or default blog header images (see the examples above). I used to see a lot of bot blogs where the pic used for the header is the same as the pfp; those usually have descriptions where it's just a name and a suggestive emoji or a name and a plug for dirty pictures. Like:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
More recently, they've started using images that show women who match or at least look like the women in their pfp's, but they aren't the same photos. Just like those pfp's, the header images are likely stolen from profiles elsewhere or random pics online. The ones that have header images that "work" with the pfp's also have a tendency to include links in their blog descriptions.
Sus blog descriptions or none at all
Most bot blogs lack blog descriptions entirely or just have a name or something about photos, like those examples above. But lately I've been seeing ones where there's a short description. In those cases, it's usually a link to who knows where, and it's best not to even find out. The text, whether there's a link or not, is usually an age (assume that's fake), something about the person's identity or preferences (often of a sexual nature), sometimes a reference to ranking on OnlyFans (it wants you to think any link there might take you to that sort of content), and a collection of oddly chosen emojis mixed into it.
Zero posts or sus posts and reblogs
A lot of legit blogs are created for the sole purpose of following content they want... and maybe asking questions, usually as anons. Those "don't follow me, I'm just lurking" type blogs rarely post or even reblog anything. Most bots also take this approach.
But some reblog sexually suggestive posts and some reblog more explicit content -- even links advertised as naughty games -- but the most realistic looking ones reblog a mix of sexual and innocuous, even innocent-looking content. As you scroll down through images of puppies, mysteriously inviting landscapes, and teacups next to open books... you eventually find images and even sometimes gifs of very mature content. Often with suggestive emojis and links that should be avoided at all costs. Some even just make one or two posts with links and leave the blogs untouched for years. Like this one:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This blog only has one post, and it's from 2019. Claims about some free training program that'll earn you large incomes. Notice the tags on it are kind of generic, and some don't fit, like #home #decor #gardening. But it's a link to... something.
They might try to chat, but what they say is sus
It's very rare, in my experience, but I will occasionally get a dm from a random blog that just doesn't sit right.
Sure, sometimes a new follower will contact me to let me know they found my blog and enjoy it. Even longtime, mostly silent readers/followers will occasionally decide to reach out and privately tell me they were a particular anon in an ask... or simply that they finally found the nerve to say hi. That's all fine and dandy.
But when a new follower (who doesn't seem to share interests with you or has interests that don't match your blog topic) or a random content blog that doesn't even follow you just dms with "hi" or "how are you?", I get very suspicious it's just a bot. Their blog might look default or not but lacks content. It might be full of content that simply has nothing to do with your content. And they send a random starter message, completely open to your response. You can test them by asking if they are a bot. If they ignore that and respond with something like "I'm lonely" or "what are you doing tonight?", they are definitely a bot. If they say "no I'm not a bot" (or something like that) then ask leading questions like the "what are you doing" one, they might not be a bot, but they are likely just phishing/scamming.
One of the best tests is to ask them what they think about your own blog posts. If they ignore that and act like they might be following a script? Bot. If they say something very generic, like "I like it a lot" but immediately change the subject back to personal questions or something phishy (might also be a bit scripted)? Scammer. Either way, best to report the chat as spam, which will also remove the conversation from your view.
It's often not one thing but a combination
If you get followed by a blog that looks completely default, the best thing to do is maybe dm them to ask if it's a real person/legit blog. If they don't respond within a decent timeframe, they might just be too shy, but chances are they are a bot. If they respond with something that feels too general or scripted, probably either a bot or a scammer -- some are sleepers that wait for you to contact them. But a blog just being default doesn't mean it's bad; it could be a shy lurker or it could be someone new to tumblr who hasn't chosen pics, themes, etc. yet.
However, if you see a follower pop up (either new or their blog has changed since they started following), and the blog has some combo of the traits mentioned above, chances are super high it's a bot.
What bots do
I'm not entirely certain about all the different things they can do, and some of the things are likely more harmful than others.
I've gleaned a few ideas from posts I've read about the bots, though, including a good one I saw that had been reblogged by Neil Gaiman. I reblogged it from him, though I might have moved it to @aby-off-topic.
My understanding is that the same creator (person or program) makes a whole bunch of them. And there are probably many different individual creators, each making large groupings of them. Some of the bot blogs have content, usually of a sexual nature but occasionally not, like cryptocurrency or some random-sounding business venture. Those will have links to other sites, though some might actually link to other, related blogs in the same grouping. The content blogs also tend to be full of various tags, typically reusing key tags copied from the posts they reblog. If they have "original" posts, those will probably have the same key tags. The grouped content blogs boost each other and make their suspicious content become more noticeable to users who follow certain tags. It mostly clutters those tags with useless content, annoying those tag followers. But the point of them is to lure in the occasional individual who doesn't know any better; once they click a link, they could fall victim to stuff like:
Automatic exposure to malware
Mature content that requires payment (and might steal personal and financial information at the same time)
Phishing attacks of various kinds
Cryptocurrency and/or NFT scams
Companies that sell fake products (like cheap knockoffs, items that just don't work as promised, and items that are never shipped and might not even exist in stock/inventory)
People who try to recruit for MLM (multi level marketing), pyramid schemes, and similar money pits. These days it could still include wasteful timeshare programs, but now there are AirBnB scams and all sorts of things. Something that requires a time and money commitment and promises profit or some other benefit, but it just drains your energy and funds. Someone profits, but it's not you.
The bots that have no content except links in their descriptions are just hoping someone clicks. Then the unwitting person might fall prey to the same things listed above.
Bots that just follow but have zero content? Well, that's possible but not always true. The ones that truly have zero content might want you to interact with them in messages. Other bots don't have any posts or reblogs, but they might allow you to see the posts they've ❤️'d and/or the blogs they follow. You have to check out their Likes and Follow tabs to get this information, so it makes the blogs seem kind of legit and innocent. You are snooping around their blog, after all, right? But some of the posts they "like" and some of the blogs they follow will send unsuspecting individuals down a rabbit hole that might quickly lead to content blogs with those same suspicious links and too-good-to-be-true schemes.
Harming your blog
Ultimately, their main goals are to part people from their money and steal information. But they can cause problems for your blog, too. Like:
Decreased exposure 1: By making your posts disappear in a sea of junk posts with the same tags, it might be harder for new readers to find your content that matches their interests.
Decreased exposure 2: Similarly, people who follow certain tags and typically read your content that way might stop following those tags. They might choose to follow you directly, but they might not. They might unfollow a tag and then realize they don't recall your blog name. Some will be interested enough to figure it out and others won't.
Damaging your reputation: It's not common now, and changes to the website/app might have actually helped to stop this, but some blogs used to reblog others' posts with one or more images, remove the original text, then add their own links and tags. This happened to several of my old posts, too, and the alterations made it look like I'd posted manga panels or whatever with a link to a porn site or something. I had to report the reblogs and also assure readers that my original posts didn't contain these potentially harmful links. To get this remedied, I think I had to use a special reporting method that allowed me to give the Tumblr reps specific information about what the blogs were doing to my post content. I also explained that those blogs were doing the same thing to posts from other bloggers. Were they truly bots? Idk, but possibly.
Simply put, they can decrease your exposure to readers, make the tagging feature less useful for everyone, and even cause a PR nightmare for your blog. All in the name of trying to scam the occasional person who falls into their traps.
When you decide a blog must be a bot, please report them as SPAM (more likely to get it removed) and block it.

Shipping is fun and it gets the fandom involved but when the fandom tries to force others to think their way or fights with the studios or the actors that’s the real cringefest. Us carylers need to stop creating friction and enemies by being negative with others who don’t agree with what we see. Or use slightly racist rhetoric which I take offense too as my adopted son and daughter are Vietnamese. No one thought my wife and I were a romantic fit but we were until we weren’t so no one had to see it or agree but us. that’s what my last anon ask was about. we make ourselves look stupid when we pick apart stuff like the big 3 thing. That’s meaningless bs that makes us look bitter and crazy and like canon is all that matter when we all know we may not ever get canon anyway. I’m an old x files shipper who knows how ridiculously fun but bad this can get especially if we let the bitter people who fight about everything that doesn’t match their vision for our ship make everyone hate us We can’t have nice things if we make everyone hate us including the actors and studios
I'm not the best person to speak on fandom politics because I don't really participate. (I post fic very occasionally and I have this blog.) It feels like a waste of time I don’t have—I’d rather be writing said fic than argue with strangers about something as subjective as what TV characters to like. I have posted about racism before and my short-version take on bigotry is: it's not okay, regardless of who happens to share their casual -isms with the crowd.
I have a huge issue with the recent interviews Norman did in Japan. It's problematic to say that, because “we” (what ‘we’ is that, Norman?) wanted to write a ‘real’ French show, the WOC showrunner got fired in favor of a white American man. I’m confused: what uniquely qualifies Zabel over Kang? 👀
In one of the after-episode snippets, Clémence said the show has “all the French cliches.” (I wish I could post a link, but I don't have time to search. If someone knows where to find it online, please let me know?) S1 has all the American jingoistic tropes and the French characters act culturally American. With streaming services offering a variety of European TV shows, anyone can do a comparison to see if DD feels more French/European (like Norman claims) or like prettied-up American network TV.
I'm aware of the “big 3” debacle and disliked the incendiary nature of Valhalla’s post. I also disliked that some fans went out of their way to replace Michonne because of course there can only be one girl who's important 🙄 There appears to be a lot of internalized misogyny in the fandom. Both women are vital to the franchise, and Gabriel's character development was amazing and brilliantly acted too, so why doesn't he make the big three? Rankings are useless because they're arbitrary and encourage division between fans. A fractured audience is not a good thing.
Studios don't hate anyone. It’s a business and the programming execs spend zero seconds pondering what fans say. That's a different department, but I’m not sure AMC employs qualified marketing strategists. The official SM accounts look like they’re run by interns with “on the job” training. Part of the (legacy) issue is that under a previous showrunner for the flagship show, this dog-eats-dog behavior was encouraged simply because it mirrored the bleak setting of TWD. It's not an ethical approach, nor is it a good ROI to scare away the people who’d pay for merchandise and provide good word-of-mouth for the show(s).
The DD EPs want to make a show they think looks cool/epic—it's all about the visual esthetic and some of them are so burnt out they don't even care about the plot at all. A fanfic author writes to please themselves, but a screenwriter has to please their audience. The viewership are paying customers, so they have the right to an opinion on what they're willing to buy. I'm deeply uncomfortable with the idea that women should be quiet and behave like good little girls, so the men in charge might reward us with “nice things.” I’ve seen that show before and there’s no treat awaiting the docile at the end.
Based on the latest slew of interviews, the buzzword du jour seems to have moved on from ‘cool’ and ‘epic’ (probably because they gained ridicule instead of traction) to ‘romantic.’ It's a hard sales pitch to the very audience Norman normally complains about. The ‘crazy and bitter’ women of the fandom are the proverbial hand that feeds him and he needs their approval, not the other way around.
I'm aware, though, that some fandom behavior has spiraled into a never-ending ship war. That's the environment AMC/TWDU has created by not encouraging an atmosphere where they lift up all their characters and by not writing female friendships into the show. Everyone's worst side is on display and nobody “wins.”
