Steve and Eddie who kind of flop in life and end up poor, living in a trailer in a different small town living quiet lives of no import.

The kids, Robin, Nancy, and Johnathan all seem to take the small handful of opportunities offered to them by the government in the aftermath of the Upsidedown to take off and make something of their lives. They're off writing headlines, making news, and living their lives to the best of their abilities, but Steve and Eddie find themselves stuck.

Steve stayed in Hawkins until the kids graduated and left for college. By then Nancy, Johnathan, and Robin are all in their second or third years of college. John and Nancy have their own apartment in New York together and don't reach out all that often, only seeing the rest of the Hawkins crew on Holidays and some vacations. Robin is flourishing at an all-women's college in Maine and has a partner and a cat and plans for graduate school brewing. She's always saying Steve can come out and join her whenever he's ready, but when the time comes it feels like he would just be trying to insert himself in the middle of a life he doesn't know how to fit into, so he turns to Eddie instead.

Eddie is permanently disabled in a number of ways following the events of season four. He struggles with chronic pain, has breathing issues due to the loss of part of his right lung, and lost enough muscle mass in his left leg that walking will never be easy or done without the use of a walker or arm bar crutches. The doctors said he recovered as well as he could have. The kids said he would get better with time. Wayne said it didn't matter if he never got better, he could do anything he set his mind to.

Steve is the only person who tells him the truth.

Steve tells him that it sucks. Tells him that it will probably always hurt. Doesn't give him false hope when he's trying to grieve the loss of the life he wanted to live. The goals he wanted to reach. When he falls deeper and deeper into himself, stuck in the muck of depression, Steve is the only person he lets in. The kids try their best but their lives are moving fast, and taking care of someone like Eddie is exhausting, no matter what they try to say. Eventually, everyone but Dustin gives up on reaching out, the younger boy showing up every Sunday to try and get Eddie out of the house. He always leaves disappointed.

When Steve asks him if he wants to use what's left of their partly government payouts and Steve's equally meager Family Video savings to buy a truly shitty trailer in a town an hour and a half south of Hawkins in the fall of 1990, it feels like the first boon he's been given in almost five years. He'll never be who he could have been if he had ignored Chrissy that day in 86', but he's always thought maybe he could be more than a ghost between Wayne's walls if he could just get out of this god-forsaken town full of people who know too much and too little of what's happened to him.

They get the trailer, pack what little they have, let Wayne hug them close, and leave.

Steve has already transferred to their new town's Family Video, moving up to claim the dubious honor of being the opening manager. Mostly he just unlocks the door, signs into the computer, and makes sure nothing catches fire. Eddie hoped that moving would miraculously make him fit to enter back into the world, but he spends most of his days with a blanket on the front porch, watching people pass by. He does, though, finally accept that he needs to apply for disability to help Steve keep the lights on and the water hot. That last little bit of hope that he could be what he used to be dies, but he's learning to be content with what he does have. He starts taking a walk, just ten minutes around the loop of the trailer park saying hi and trading polite nods with his fellow residents. He's not ok, but he's starting to build a new community of people not too different from himself.

The new trailer only has one bedroom. Eddie sleeps on a fold-out mattress in the living room. It had been a major argument when they first moved in with Steve insisting that Eddie needed the bed. Eddie argued that it wasn't fair for him to take the room when Steve was the one working 40 hours a week to keep them afloat. In the end, Eddie was the more stubborn of the two. It helps that Eddie has absolutely no qualms about crawling into bed with Steve on the nights when the couch bed really won't cut it for his aching body. Steve never questions it, just shuffles over a little and lets the other man in.

Steve doesn't question a lot of stuff.

He doesn't question when all their effects are shared between them with no effort to distinguish between yours and mine, Eddie's and Steve's. He doesn't question it four months in when Eddie starts to get his feet under him and decides to take up cooking, always trying his best to have everything done just as Steve walks through the door. He doesn't question when a good chunk of Eddie's first disability check goes to buying Steve a sturdy, if not very fashionable, new watch for his birthday since his old one went bust almost a year ago.

He doesn't question it when Eddie holds his hand for the first time under the stars hanging above their front porch.

He doesn't question it when Eddie introduces him to one of his new neighbor friends with a hand resting comfortably on his lower back

He doesn't question it when Eddie starts sleeping in the bedroom every night.

Or makes him box mix cupcakes for Valentine's Day.

Or kisses him for the first time on the couch that's never a bed unless they want to spend the day binge-watching bargain bin films.

Because really, isn't this how it was always going to go? Wasn't this exactly what Steve was asking for when he asked Eddie to skip town with him?

Isn't this what Eddie was hoping for when he said yes?

Jorgen’s usually not the one in charge of assigning godchildren. There’s an entire department that weighs and classifies potentail Godkids to the right Fairy. Although it’s on strike at the moment.

So Jorgen has to do it by hand, until the union negotiations are resolved. Turns out trying to use paperclips is very hard. Itty bitty paperclips. Big muscular biceps. Not a good combo.

You can’t tell me that Ryunosuke was mentally okay after having to spend nearly two months in the room where his best friend died after desperately having to prove that he wasn’t the one who did it. He felt like he had to pick up his dead friends dreams and belongings because it would be suck a waste for them to be abandoned. He took on a whole career that he explicitly stated terrified him because he couldn’t stand letting Kazuma or Susato down.

Anyway there’s some psychological horror to being trapped in the room where someone you loved died just feet away from where you were sleeping for weeks and weeks with the only thing to occupy your mind being relentlessly studying to replace him.

The only picture he had of Kazuma was the crime scene photo staged to look like he was implicating him for the crime and he wouldn’t be able to just throw it away.

You just cannot tell me this guy didn’t suffer some amount of psychological distress and constant nightmares on the way to Great Britain.

i like em! while my s/lco fixation was dormant they were what I focused on when S1 came out. But like, that's it ykwim. I like seeing em and art of em a lot but rarely care about ships enough to become super dedicated to em/make fanart etc...i think if u go far down enough my arcane tag u can see that when s1 came out the only indication i had watched it was rbing a single gifset of a scene with em LMAO... i heart gay people

Not people talking bad about my girl Helaena just to support Aemond. Like, she had a right to ask him if what he did was worth it because, even if Aegon is atrocious, Aemond is the reason that her son was killed in front of her, the reason that she had to choose which of her children dies, and is the reason why she has to live with that now. While other characters played a part in that, without Aemond killing Luke, Jaehaerys would probably still be there or wouldn't have died in such a cruel way. B&C are sent there to kill Aemond, and when they can't find him they follow through with their next order of "a son for a son". And while Aemond may be smarter and more strategic (and not a disgusting man like Aegon) as prince regent, he is still, as Alicent called out, volatile and brewing with unchecked anger. I wouldn't feel safe having him on the throne just as much as Aegon, but because he served face and is the lesser evil I'm supposed to be okay with it? No, Helaena can question this man as much as she likes, for the rest of her life given what she has to go through. (Also, she literally just asked him a valuable question that deeply needs to be considered, so why are people mad at her?)

Do rafe and sofia want children? I imagine sofia would want them because of her big family. but is Rafe the type to want to be a father?

I don't know, I think rafe doesn't think he would be a good father, but I'm not sure if that would stop him

That’s so interesting because I imagine the opposite😭my first instinct is that Rafe would be the one to want to start a family. He’s trying to emulate Ward. He wants this picture perfect future and family together.

I think Sofia would probably be more wary. The fact she’s from a big family and has probably been parentified in some way, makes me doubt she’d want to be thrust into motherhood. I think she likes being the only person Rafe loves.

If they do end up pregnant, I don’t think it’d be a conscious decision/choice. They’re both young still (ironic seeing as his little sister is literally pregnant in canon😭)– they both enjoy just each other.

Pregnancy would be scary for both of them. I think Sofia would be afraid of his reaction, especially since there’s a lot of points in the show where she’s unsure if he’s serious about them. And I think Rafe would be afraid of messing up, like he is with everything he does in his life.

But I still think they’d want it. It’ll just be a big shift where they’re not acting like lovesick teenagers playing house anymore. And you’re so right–

Imo, he’d pretend everything is okay, deluding himself that this is what he wants/what he should want. He’ll just internalise all the complex feelings he has about his dead/absent parents and non-existent family unit and then kinda project that toxic positivity onto Sofia too. Those internalised feelings will probably only surface after the kid is born. During the pregnancy stage, I think he’d fare very well with the “doting partner” approach.

Once their child is born, it all becomes real. That’s when I think he’ll distance himself. He’d be afraid to hold his kid, he’d kinda become unresponsive, just carrying out the motions. That’s when I think the roles will switch and Sofia will be the one to support him (instead of him undertaking the caretaker role like he did during the pregnancy). She’ll coax him out of his dread. She knows about Ward, so presumably he’s told her more about his family. She’ll be sympathetic and empathetic to his pain, whilst also wanting him to snap out of it and be there for her and their child. I think she’s good at operating Rafe– she can get him to calm down in the moment. But long term? I wonder if parenthood will bolster their relationship or undermine it?

(@dulcecherub wrote a fic about Sofia finding out she’s pregnant while Rafe’s away in Morocco and @delayeddrabbles has a mafia au fic where Sofia finds out she’s pregnant with Rafe’s kid while they’re hooking up. They’re both soooo good and influenced my opinions on how they’d feel!! You should check them out!! )

i'm like 90% sure irving is reintegrated. i think that irving has been reintegrated for a while and that's what the goo is. mark's seeing gemma first now that he's reintegrated, the most important part of this to him, and irving's seeing his paint. also thanks to this episode we know that reintegration takes some time, at least for innies. we only saw the effects of reintegration from petey's point of view when he was in the outside world, so it's entirely possible that reintegration is different for innies and outies at the beginning.

also we don't know how outie irving knows what the testing floor elevator looks like. innie irving doesn't even know what it is so where did he get this info? my guess is that he failed the input survey (since we know that theres a perfect score for it), got sent down to the testing floor to get his memory fixed, and then when he reintegrated those memories came back with it.

i think the mantra of "i haven't earned being alive" that coming undone spends so much time building to is a shadow that also heavily hangs over cc!donnie as well and it kind of always will. the only reason i didnt use it for cw is because i cant just steal from myself. just a very concise statement for the way that i usually depict donnie regardless, i suppose

i have seen some early translations and while im not putting my faith into those so far like ... how can you make totk even worse, just stop!! stop! say its an AU and leave it!! its better for everyone!!

(like .. aside from the very concerning timeline mess they are messing with AGAIN, the thing about totk ganondorf actually being calamity gan all of the sudden??? what?? nothign in the game suggest that they are coneccted bc the damn game acts like botw didnt happen, it does everything it can to NOT connect ganondorf to clam gan and didnt they also say in an interview that they arent related?? and now its just the other way around again?? like that is making it all WORSE!!)
