If you know me from primary school, you would know that I am not a spectacle wearer. Oddly enough, I started wearing glasses when I entered Optometry school. My first ever prescription glasses is during our training before entering clinic year.
Truth be told: I hated wearing my glasses. It wasn’t how I imagined it to be in elementary where those who wear frames look smart. I didn’t like how I look with glasses. Mostly, I hated how I now have to wear my specs to see things better and avoid having eyestrains.
Overtime, wearing glasses before my 5th year started was a blessing in disguise. Through this experience, I developed a deeper appreciation for lenses. I have gained empathy in personally getting to see a fraction of what my patient’s have to deal with to carry on with their everyday tasks. Through this experience, I saw firsthand how even a small amount of grade can change a person’s life. That spectacles, when dispensed properly, can create a lasting impact. I gained interest in binocular vision. I always re-check, refine, and balance my refraction. I search for frames that will complement the face shape of my patients. I try to do my best during patient education—noting and customizing what I say depending on who my patient is.
Ever since this semester has started, I have felt disappointed at myself for not reaching certain things: may it be on patient handling or scores on a quiz. But just like my first pair of prescription glasses, these too have been blessings in disguise. Lately, I have learned to embrace my life when it’s worth celebrating, and even when it feels like it’s falling apart.

Hi, I'm from Shang Simla and I love your amazing mods! Thank you so much for your great work in TS3. These are some of the most creative and powerful mods I've ever seen and they give me so much fun in my game. I translated several mods into Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese, if you don’t mind, could you please give me your email address so that I can send you translated SBLT files? maybe you could add them next time you update mods. Also I encountered some minor issues while playing, here’s the list.
Student Counsil: Successfully held campaign "Feedback Day" doesn't bring a day off for school.
Private Clinic:No orange and white lifeguard sign blinking over the head of waiting patients.
When therapists give individual counselling to patients, no thought/speech balloons pop out over the patients' heads.
Offering psych evals will trigger EA interactive "inkblot test', or just inform me "There's not much more useful information an evaluation can provide your doctor".
Even if I turn off the clinic controller, waiting patients won't leave the lot autonomously.
The interaction, "Teamocil" in hospital or grocery store, always displays as "Teamocil" in English, despite I've translated its object package files.
Religion:
When clicking Mausoleum RH to donate, the donation amount is random, sometimes can be zero or a negative number.
Neither peteran nor nonbelievers receive moodlets from giving to the church, or their moodlets disappear the moment they exit RH.
To test these mods, I intentionally removed old saves and other functional mods, keeping only a few essential mods. They should theoretically not conflict with each other, here's the list:
NRASS MasterControl+Cheats/Career/Overwatch/ErrorTrap
Battery Utility
CCLoader
store item fix by phantom99 I tested three saves on three different computers, and all of them had these issues. Not sure if I did something wrong or missed any steps, but perhaps you could fix them in the future?
Shang Simla is my favorite place to visit! 😀 Your country is beautiful. Thanks so much for kind compliments. :) Also thank you for translating in both simplified and traditional. You can send the STBL files to me via Mediafire or any other free file transfer site you're most comfortable with.
Thanks also for the detailed bug report, however some of these are NOT bugs but features.
Student Counsil: Successfully held campaign "Feedback Day" doesn't bring a day off for school. YES BUG. Thanks for letting me know. I'll put in a fix for this.
Private Clinic:No orange and white lifeguard sign blinking over the head of waiting patients. NOT A BUG. The latest version does not use the lifeguard sign anymore, I probably just forgot to update that in the doc but please make sure you have the most updated version of this mod here.
When therapists give individual counselling to patients, no thought/speech balloons pop out over the patients' heads. Also NOT A BUG, please read documentation.
Offering psych evals will trigger EA interactive "inkblot test', or just inform me "There's not much more useful information an evaluation can provide your doctor". NOT A BUG. There's nothing left to learn from the psych eval, it's telling you to stop giving psych evals!
Even if I turn off the clinic controller, waiting patients won't leave the lot autonomously. NOT EXACTLY a bug. I just never put in a method to push patients to leave. But this was noted in the testing for the Optometry module so I've implemented this in the next version of the clinic where patients will be pushed to leave the lot after being treated or if they are on the waitlist and the clinic is closed.
The interaction, "Teamocil" in hospital or grocery store, always displays as "Teamocil" in English, despite I've translated its object package files. NOT A BUG. Since Teamocil is a brand name, I didn't think it needed translating but I guess even brands are translated into other languages so I've noted this for a future update. I'm curious to know what you would use as a Chinese translation. 🤔
Religion:
When clicking Mausoleum RH to donate, the donation amount is random, sometimes can be zero or a negative number. NOT FULLY a bug. Donations will always be random and are based on current mood, traits and household funds. So they can be zero but shouldn't be a negative number, that part is a bug. So noted for fixing in the next update.
Neither peteran nor nonbelievers receive moodlets from giving to the church, or their moodlets disappear the moment they exit RH. NEED MORE INFO to know whether this is a bug. Getting a moodlet isn't guaranteed and the timeout length is linked to the amount donated but if no matter what amount, the moodlet is always disappearing once they exit the rh, then that sounds like a bug. Please let me know.

I already hate my highschool
Tumblr media
I'm sorry but your only method of communication is Facebook unless there is a delay or nti day. My mom only found this because the middle/elementary school reposted it which means that a lot of parents aren't going to see it. At the end of 8th grade we had to sign up for classes, BY OURSELVES. We did not take the paper home and discuss it with parents we just signed up. And there wasn't a lot but still, we are MINORS our brains are not fully developed you can't expect us to sign up for things when you don't even have good choices. The arts were: comprehension visual arts ie: drawing, painting, that kinda thing, dance but not the dance team, general band for beginners, concert band for current band people, chorus, and percussion ensemble.
OF COURSE art fills up fast, that is the least shitty option for most people which means that some of the people who actually draw for a hobby and potentially a career someday may not be able to participate. And the electives were nothing special either, I mean really, you can go down a education pathway, administration, support or e-commerce, personal finance, JROTC 1, health science, and vocational.
I have a friend that wants to be a vet, she has to take to take health science for humans. I want to do something with art, digital literacy is the only one even close. And when we went to tour the school they had so many medical classes, which yeah there is a medical, optometry, and dental (eventually) school right there but your still boxing us in. The gym was way to bright, I have NEVER wanted to get out of a near empty room as much as I did then.
The building itself is basically 2 circles, but we don't even know where the student parking lot is. And here's the thing, the middle school was just as bad with communication, i officially started in 6th grade but that was with COVID so in 7th grade when we started 4-h I was so fucking confused and never got a good answer. I ended up having an anxiety attack over the project. Google told me nothing the project counselor told me nothing, the teacher told me nothing, not even my classmates could explain it. And when my sister started it in 4th grade they sent no information to the parents and she can't be trusted to tell the full story because she skips the context needed. But get this- we have to fill out a form for the project and put our parents phone number down, again we did all of this WITHOUT a guardian
Ive already been stressed about starting 9th grade and I can't do it if the school is going to be such a bitch. Please please please send in online school recommendations, preferably before the 8th

Okay, hear me out. One of the things I enjoy most during clinic year is the thrill of having my labsheets approved. Before our forms are signed, we have to answer particular questions or perform procedures. Without the labsheet approval, you will not be able to dispense your patient's lenses.
You never really know what question or task will hit you and the uncertainty of it all challenges me to be on top of my active recall game. It allows me to revisit past lessons and gauge which areas I have yet to read more of.
It's also during this time that my past notes come in very handy. There are days I regret wasting my time from the past for not studying as productive as I hope to be. It was tiresome scanning all of my notes, backing up files, and never really opening them as much as I want to.
Earlier this month, I attended a youth summit geared towards research innovation. One of the instruments available in the fair was a weighing scale that also measured muscle and visceral fat. I haven't worked out in a long time. Hence, I was both surprised and happy to see that most of my weight still comes from muscle and that my visceral fat is at 1%.
The present version of myself is grateful for the hardwork I have put in the past. It may not be perfect or as seamless, but it is enough to give me a headstart for this tiring semester. These are things that are not directly specified on the checklist for clinic preparations. But these are things I could suggest to the next batch of clinicians. Stay physically healthy so you will have energy during and after clinic + store your notes (!!)

In the morning, as I start my day, I review my schedule and see that I have a patient education presentation in the clinic soon. I grab my IPad or laptop, I open Canva, and start creating a visually appealing title slide. Canva offers a range of templates, so I quickly find one that suits the professional and informative style I want. Moreover, my course which is Doctor of Optometry often involves complex concepts and medical conditions, it allows me to create visually engaging presentations, infographics, and posters. It enables me to create educational materials that are visually appealing and easy for patients to understand. Custom infographics and presentations enhance your ability to communicate effectively with patients about their eye conditions and treatment plans. Furthermore, as an optometry student, it helps me a lot on showcasing my knowledge and expertise during lectures, seminars, and clinical presentations.

erm warning for dissected photos of an eye under the cut
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
sorry it’s the nursing student in me but we did a sheep eye dissection today and it was SO COOL the teacher told us to make sure the cut wasn’t too deep or we would get the vitreous humor everywhere and my cut was in just the right spot that the entire thing was in tact . we pulled out all the stuff and you could put your finger in the eye and see your finger through where the pupil used to be . i think at some point i’d love to do a deeper look into optometry because ive had such bad vision my entire life and this was a cool little look into it for me :]

In more adventures with the batshit ex co-teacher who won't go away and is having her own weird class with my organization's clients even though she doesn't work here anymore:
So, from January-April, my organization partnered with another organization that got medical students from [insert major hospital system here] to have a series of Zoom classes on health, right? The subject was optometry, so every other week, med students studying to be eye doctors would go on Zoom and give our clients a talk about certain eye conditions, like glaucoma. In the next week, ex co-teacher and I would then explain the med students' presentations in simplified English.
Following me? Okay. So, what we did was take the med students' information and just simplify the language, but I would always stress to the students that I'm not a doctor and couldn't actually answer their medical questions.
Welp.
Batshit ex co-teacher is just....continuing to have a health class with our clients, not partnered with any actual medical professionals, when she has no credentials to teach this information in any way. She has a Bachelor's in English, and going by the group chat I'm still part of, this is the kind of shit she's teaching:
Tumblr media
Again: she has a Bachelor's degree in English--why is she out here trying to teach the fucking respiratory system?! Why is she still having any health class at all of her own volition with students that aren't even her organization's clients? (The answer is because she's a freak.) She "taught" a class on fucking diabetes a couple of weeks ago, too.
