We’re back!
LOVE IN PRINT is now on Wattpad, starting with Masaru’s fully remixed and remastered main story! New episodes will be added every Friday/Saturday/Sunday.
A romance series written in homage to Japanese otome games, LIP originally ran on Tumblr from 2014-2016.
How will your story unfold?
In the wake of her broken engagement, workaholic Reiko is convinced that true romance can only be found in fiction. She spends her days marketing swoony shoujo manga for a prominent Tokyo publishing house, believing all the while that her own love story is a closed book. Meet-cutes only happen in the movies. Happy endings are for fairy tales.
Resigned to the idea that lightning won't strike twice, Reiko has officially given up. When a hectic summer unfolds into an unexpected office romance, she doesn't even know what hit her. Masaru strides into Reiko's life armed with quicksilver wit and devastating charm. He's handsome. He's maddening. He ropes her into audacious schemes that leave her stunned, breathless, and somehow wishing for more.
Always one step ahead, Masaru dares Reiko to dream bigger, fly higher, and fall harder than ever before. Can she turn the page and meet him halfway?
{ Read now! }
Love in Print is written by @hrhmariko, with art by Babeesi. For series updates, you can follow @yumeisha!

Who from each of your fandoms is most likely to carry around pocket sand to throw at people? (Feel free to split it among games/anime/manga where appropriate and include DVHS)
Pokeani- Lana but I'm not sure why I automatically associated this with her
Pokespe- not gonna lie probably Yellow or Emerald. Emerald already has his dirt to calm pokemon, why not have sand to anger humans? And as for Yellow, idk it just seems like it fits? Or maybe Sapphire
Pokemon gameverse- my gut tells me Hau but he throws the sand in a celebratory manner, like confetti
Miraculous- Kim or Alix probably. Idk why my mind kept saying Marinette, that kind of sand would get all over her fabrics and designs
DR1- my brain keeps saying Hina but I don't think that fits? Maybe Junko tbh
SDR2- Hiyoko. I don't think there's an explanation needed
DR:AE- definitely one of the Warriors but I can't tell which? Maybe Masaru or Kotoko, probably
NDRV3- mmmmmmmmmm Angie but also kinda in the same way as Hau? Or like that's how she passes it off but she's actually mad at the person
DVHS- honestly almost definitely Oshiro since she's kinda superstitious and would pass off throwing sand at someone like throwing salt over your shoulder
Carmen Sandiego- Tigress because of that one time during the exam with Shadowsan lol
The Owl House- probably not gonna come as a surprise but I think Luz or Eda, maybe King if he has pockets
Riordanverse- also not a surprise but probably Percy. Like yes he has better strategies than that but in a pinch sand works well
Hamefura- Katarina. No question.

I find myself bored without the ability to to much besides write at the moment, so I went and put this little list of years together so you can image how everyone is doing right about now. Bolded characters are characters from my concept.
1950 - Hiroko Ikeda (70)
1952 - Hiroki Hisakawa (68)
1970 - Ryotaro Dojima, P6 Protag’s Mother (50)
1976 - Maya Amano (44)
1979 - P1 Protagonist (41)
1980 - Hidehiko Uesugi & Yuka Ayase (40)
1981 - Tatsuya Suou (39)
1982 - Lisa Silverman (38)
1983 - Yuuki Kawaguchi, Ren Ueda (37)
1982 - Tsubasa Himura (36)
1981 - Haruka Kawaguchi (35)
1991 - Mitsuru Kirjiro & Akihiko Sanada (29)
1992 - P3 Protagonist, Yukari Takeba, & Junpei Iori (28)
1994 - P4 Protagonist, Yosuke Hanamura, Chie Satonmaka, Yukiko Amagi (26)
1995 - Kanji Tatsumi, Naoto Shirogane, Rise Kujikawa, Mizuki Kazama (25)
1999 - Aigis (21)
2000 - Ken Amada, Makoto Nijima, Haru Okumura (20)
2001 - P5 Protagonist, Ann Takamaki, Ryuji Sakamoto, Yusuke Kitagawa, Akemi Sonoda, Masaru Kazama (19)
2002 - Futaba Sakura (18)
2003 - P6 Protagonist, Sayaka Ito, Yudai Shinoda, Natsuki Yamauchi, Yota Sonohoka (17)
2004 - Nanako Dojima, Miyako Fujimori, Mashiro Oshiro, Jun Sanada (16)
2005 - Hoshiko Akiyama, Shinju Kawaguchi (15)
2010 - Sayuri Shimizu (10)
Also, fun fact: Apparently Jun Sanada gets his name from two different Persona characters; Jun Kurosu from Persona 2: Innocent Sin and Akihiko Sanada from Persona 3. Both of these were by total accident, seeing as I randomly generated all of these characters names and stuck with the combinations I liked the best.
Another fun fact: The men Jun’s (my Jun) family on his dad’s side canonically generally go grey before they turn eighteen. However, Jun went completely white by the age of four. He has a real world explanation for his anime coloring. Akihiko’s hair is also white.
I just... I didn’t plan this? I swear! I’ve just been thinking that if this was to become an actual thing... how many people would make theories about Akihiko and Jun being related...?
Anyways, I’m done now. Until next time!

Bad Vibes
Hellooooooo all, this is the introduction post for my multichap Mean Girls AU, Bad Vibes. I have no idea how many chapters it will be, but hopefully I’ll be updating it every Friday, for Fun Fridays.
Pairing: Bakugou/Kirishima
Rating: Teen and Up
Chapter Count: 1/?
Summary: Kirishima just moved to the States from Japan. He’s been homeschooled his entire life but with the move comes... public school.
Additional tags: Mean Girls AU, mean girls if Regina George wasn’t as much of a dick as she could have been, mean girls if Cady and Regina were endgame, Not a complete riff but some of the more iconic lines are still there, high school AU, which means no nsfw, PG 13, not genderbent
Bad Vibes
There’s an old saying Kirishima’s grandmother used to spout off around the dinner table during holidays: “Beautiful person, thin life.”
She’d say it in response to his mother attempting to makeover herself and her house for their relatives coming in from out of town. It meant something along the lines of “beauty fades” or whatever.
It never really meant much to Kirishima. He didn’t care to dress in fancy clothes or drive fancy cars. His beauty wouldn’t fade if he didn’t try for it like his mother, right?
It didn’t exactly stick because it didn’t really apply to him.
They moved back to the states after his mother got a tenure position. His grandmother came too, spouting the same nonsense when his mom pushed extra hard for a nicer public school for Kirishima to attend.
“Beautiful person, thin life,” she’d rasp in her denture-blocked voice.
“I’m pretty sure that applies to excess makeup mom,” his mother would reply.
“The boy’s been home-schooled his whole life for a reason. Why don’t you stick to it?”
“He needs to socialize, mom,” she’d sigh again.
The argument wasn’t really an argument. His mom obviously had final say, all his grandmother could do was sigh and whisper passive aggressive metaphors in her direction.
So Kirishima was going to public school, for the first time in his life… at 16 years old.
“Ma, I need my bag. Do you-”
“I packed your lunch and added some extra change if you want a cold drink,” his mom interrupted, fluttering around the kitchen island and pulling up his backpack.
“Thanks, do you think you could-”
“I’m finishing up Baba’s breakfast and then I’ll take you,” she flipped an omelet onto a waiting plate, and swirled it around to the back of the island where his grandmother shuffled onto a barstool.
“Morning Eijirou, I hope that beautiful school gives you a full life today,” his grandmother squinted at him.
He squinted right back, “Thanks Baba. Me too.”
She whispered something unintelligible under her breath as Kirishima walked out the door.
“Love you too Baba!” he smiled and closed it behind him.
She means well, but he wasn’t going to let her stop him from going to public school for the first time. Where he’ll meet other people. Other boys.
He’s only ever had one boyfriend. When he was six Masaru Oshiro told him he liked his block tower, and they decided to get married next to it. They had a little ceremony and he went home and told his mom to expect a baby soon. It didn’t quite give him the social experience he thought necessary for public school, but according to every Hollywood movie he binged in Japan, all he needed was confidence.
And Kirishima could do confidence. He had the confidence to get in the car, strap in, and have his mother drive him to school. He had the confidence to unbuckle and let his mom kiss him goodbye. He had the confidence to walk through the drop off area and towards the school. His confidence wavered a bit when he had to walk through the bus loop and almost got bowled over by a speeding bus driver. But it came right back when he managed to find his first class and get a good seat at the front.

Dear friends,
First of all, if you’re still here, please know that I love you! It’s been a long, long time since the last run of Love In Print, my terrible and self-indulgent otome romance series about a girl named Reiko and all the possible ways her story could unfold. I’m still so happy that I wrote it, even if I do want to hurl every last Google doc into a volcanic inferno by now. The experience connected me to so many people and even led to some of my most enduring friendships, online and offline. Thank you again, if you ever took the time to read.
2020 has been a raging dumpster fire of a year, and I’ve been thinking about how comforting it can be to vanish into a story for a while. Writing Love In Print brought so much light into my life, and although there isn’t much I can personally do about 2020 being 2020, I can at least rewrite an old office romance to be less garbage than it was originally. (I hope???)
Anyway, TL;DR, Masaru’s fully revised main route will run on Wattpad two days a week, starting December 25th. You know, just in case someone’s Christmas wish list included a lighthearted rom-com about workaholics who hate weddings and are then made to attend three of them. I’m still mean, nothing’s changed.
More details will be posted here between now and the 25th. I will answer any and all messages that appear in my inbox, including anything along the lines of, “MARIKO TBH WHY ARE YOU BRINGING THIS BACK INTO MY LIFE WHEN I LITERALLY NEVER ASKED”
Til next time, I hope you’re happy and staying safe!!
xo Mariko
Artwork for the series is, of course, by the incomparable @makuo-san!

17 year old technological specialist, accelerated throughout college and undertaking postgraduate degrees. She is the current owner of a special Note and a member of the SPK.
Wylan Zielinsky - Death Note
Formerly known as ‘W’ at Wammy’s House, a musical prodigy proficient in piano, string instruments, and composition. An actor.
Mori Zaharova - Death Note
Goddess turned human, with a soft spot for Mihael Keehl.
Kawaguchi Inochi (川口 命) - Naruto

Momochi Aito (桃地再  哀 人) - Naruto
16 year old nephew of Momochi Zabuza who dreamed of becoming Zabuza’s apprentice. Envies Yuki Haku for his position when Zabuza was alive. Desperately in love with Kawaguchi Inochi, which isn’t helped by the fact that she reciprocates Haku’s feelings towards her instead. He wields Zabuza’s Kubikiribōchō, which was used to scar him permanently when he was younger, and a deadly section of barbed swinging wire.
Fukuda Masaru (福田 優) - Naruto
16 year old master of poisons and chemicals, Aito’s right-hand man. Cool, logical, and never fazed by anything, which is why he handles Aito’s moods very, very steadily. His ability with hallucinogenics allows him to complement Katsuro’s genjutsu perfectly in battle situations. A fastidious tactician.
Ikeda Katsuro ( 池田 勝郎) - Naruto
An absolute flirt. A ladies’ man with extensive genjutsu training, related to Karashi and Grandma Sansho from The Curry of Life shop by blood. He is flirtatious, confident and laid-back (all things which Aito is not). He exasperates his teammates and is subject to being hit by Aito quite a lot.
Nakami Tadashi ( 中見 忠) - Naruto
A shy boy with a crush on Inochi but is too awkward to say anything. He has a remarkable innate control of chakra but isn’t confident enough with himself or his skills to realize this at all. Prone to anxiety and often scolded by Keiko, but finds encouragement in Akari.
Kobayashi Keiko (小林 敬 子) - Naruto
A brash young woman who is labeled ‘tsundere’. She terrifies Haku Yuki, her crush, with her presence, and is extremely cold towards Inochi because she receives Haku’s affections instead. She is very good at controlling movement with stored chakra, which is what people consider psychokinesis. Later on, after meeting Fukuda Masaru, she develops a crush on him instead.
Katou Akari: ( 加藤 明 ) - Naruto
A sisterly figure to Tadashi and Keiko, her teammates, she specializes in fire-style jutsu. Confident and determined. She loves a challenge (which is why she likes Uchiha Saigai, @l-v-britannia ‘s OC XD)
Takanaka Hideo ( 高央 秀和) - Naruto
The eldest son in his nuclear family with a sense of responsibility and love towards his siblings above all else. He practices light jutsu and manipulates the movement of light in combat. Dating @l-v-britannia ‘s OC, Uchiha Heiwa.
Hyuuga Hansuke ( 日向 伴助) - Naruto
The 16 year old older brother of Neji Hyuuga, they are similar in demeanor and personality, but he is not a determinist at all. The leader of his squad, which is him, Hideo and Daichi. Slightly more relaxed than Neji.
Oshiro Daichi ( 小城 大知) - Naruto
A mute boy who has the Kekkei-Genkai of manipulating internal body structures, excluding bones. He communicates through sign language and is a good listener, very focused and not easily distracted.
they are my children.
i’ll include art later on! all of these OCs are mine, with some input from @l-v-britannia :D

DVHS Reread: Chapter I.II
I take a moment to collect my thoughts before speaking in Japanese. "Sorry, I was up late reading a book in French, and sometimes I just- never mind. Did I miss anything?"
This is something I’ve noticed my little cousins do - English is their second language - sometimes they’ll forget that they’re speaking Ukrainian with me and my sisters, who don’t. I figured someone how studies languages and knows a lot of them might get set in one from time to time.
Almost makes me wish we had coffee.
I have no idea why I didn’t give them coffee?? No clue what I was thinking there tbh. Maybe just extra torture or something.
...But now that I think about it, imagining Oshiro with coffee reminds me of the squirrel dude from Hoodwinked.
Ueda's jaw drops. "Is that...money?"
Have I mentioned before that I based the motives off of the seven deadly sins? This one is, obviously, greed.
His red-tinted gaze focuses on her. They seem to have some kind of staring contest while the rest of us remain silent. It takes a good minute before he looks away first. Saito smirks and crosses her arms, victorious.
I think this is one of my favorite Saito Moments. Nearly forgot it was there, though.
"No, that's not right." Abe clears his throat, recovered from the little stint earlier. "Historically speaking, there was much more than money driving those people to kill, such as political gain, or-"
I asked my dad (history teacher) about this one. One of his few contributions to this fic, haha. Love ya, Dad.
"Besides, your bad side's been on display this whole time. You're not one to talk," Yoshida adds. I mean, she's not wrong, but she shouldn't say it. That loud. In front of him.
Great Narration Moment(TM)
After a little deliberation on my end about his word choice- something I excel at as a linguist- I pick up on something. "You sound like you don't like your talent that much."
More silence follows. We're approaching the dorm area now. My window of opportunity for getting to know him is waning. "My sisters encouraged me to pursue my interests. History is really the only thing that holds my interest."
This is one of my favorite reread moments. Things like this, that point to the twist at the end, are really cool upon reread.
The door to the nurse's office is ajar as I pass. Ueda's in there, I remember, and I debate hanging out with her for a while. I do want to get to know our other classmates better, too. I feel like that takes slight precedence over comfort for the time being. I can always hang out with her later.
This passage is brought to you by me being disappointed she wasn’t chosen for FTEs.
I could so easily call him out on his hypocrisy, but Yoshida beats me to it. "This, coming from Mr. Trust-Is-For-Weenies?"
Something indistinguishable flashes across his face at her wording, but it's gone in a split second.
That DEFINITELY reminded him of Masaru.
"Yeah, not like our rooms are stocked with much of anything, just the bare minimum." Yoshida only looks up from her food once all of our eyes are on her. "What? Do I have something on my face?"
"You don't have anything in your room?" Oshiro asks, summing up what I'm sure everyone is thinking. "No personal touch?"
She shakes her head slowly. "Are you saying you all do?" We all nod; I think back to my stacks of books. She forces a wry smile. "Well. That's just my luck, isn't it? To be the only one without personal items…" Her hand goes up, presumably subconsciously, and tugs on one of her pigtails. Abruptly, she stands. "I'm going to… I don't know. Shower or something."
I know it’s like the Protag Thing to have a blank room to kinda project, but I thought it would be interesting to twist that into a Luck Thing since I gave Ishikawa some stuff in her room.
I approach until I'm standing right in front of her. I wrap my arms around her and hold her tightly. She buries her head between my neck and shoulder, her tears staining my shirt. As tight as I'm holding her, she holds me tighter, still trembling, almost desperate. I am her grounding force, keeping her from panicking even more. Slowly, her heart rate drops back to normal, matching my steady beat. I rub her back gently, resting my chin on her shoulder- something I wouldn't be able to do if she weren't hunched over. I hold her close until she lets go, wiping her eyes under her glasses. One of her hands remains in mine. I give it a squeeze.
I read this part to my Writers’ Guild, too. Actually, I think I read up until just before the victim reveal to them. Then COVID hit. Anyway, they loved this part.
MONOKUMA THEATRE III
I covered this before lol
As expected, Miyuki rolls in fairly early, looking as confident as ever, even as a yawn splits her face. "Feeling better?" I whisper, offering her a section of my orange. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Sharing oranges is a love language, change my mind.
Monokuma is quiet for a second. Did Abe actually stump him? "You know, Blue, you sure think you know a lot. Miracles of nature happen all the time! And if you must know, when I was a cub, I accidentally swallowed a butterfly. Or was it a moth? Anywho, I'm alive as can be! Nothin' to it but that, got it?"
Y’all remember when M.A.D. had a tv show on Cartoon Network? This is a reference to one of their sketches with the Muppets, in which it was theorized that they can talk because they swallowed a butterfly - or, in I think Fozzie’s case, a moth.
"Because…" Because what? Because I didn't think to? Because I didn't want the responsibility of it? "Because I believe in Ueda. I believe she can make a good leader for us if you'll give her a chance."
I figured it was a bit of an unorthodox choice to have someone else be the leader, but I also think this is kind of like Twogami stepping up in SDR2. Until, of course, he died.
Well, he's right. At least, until one point becomes two, then five, ten, fifteen, twenty-three. That's where we draw the line against their eight points, all six of us drenched in sweat. Hamasaki doesn't strike me as the bragging type, but the satisfied little smirk she's wearing does all the work for her. "Nice game, guys. I forgot how much fun this was."
It was just pointed out to me that I originally had the math wrong - I said twenty-three to seventeen and thought that was fifteen points apart. Y’all, this went through multiple people’s eyes and has been published for almost four years. How did none of us notice?
MONOKUMA THEATRE IV
This one is brought to you by my sisters and I explaining to my dad that, yes, most things with us are competitions and that’s okay because we have fun with it and everything in life is a competition anyway.

Masaru Oshiro is back! Featuring a rewritten and simplified biography, this cool guy is:
〔ϟ〕- 18 years old and in his second year of high school 〔ϟ〕- A really smart kid with an infallible memory 〔ϟ〕- A very solid choice of a friend who will stand by you and give you his notes for free 〔ϟ〕- The world’s largest fan of beef udon 〔ϟ〕- Still trying to figure out what he wants to do in the future 〔ϟ〕- Secretly concealing the fact that he can control electricity and spends 〔ϟ〕- his nights in the alleys of Tokyo fighting the despairing remnants of human failure 〔ϟ〕- Frantically trying to keep his school life stable while doing that and running on about three hours of sleep each night 〔ϟ〕- A quirky protag who has the possibility of being badass
So if any of this stuff interests you, give this a like and/or reblog and I’ll check you out! I’m looking to get back into the swing of things here, and Masaru needs people to talk to and conceal his secret from, or share his secret with!
