Title: As The Rain Falls Pairings: Narvin/Leela Summary: As Narvin waits for Leela to return, he ponders on his own mortality as the rain falls. Set between Gallifrey series 4.

Narvin pulled his cloak tightly around him and shivered as he prodded the fire with a stick. Leela had been gone for a couple of hours and normally, he wouldn’t be concerned for he knew Leela was more than capable of taking care of herself but it was growing dark and the portal back to the Axis was due tomorrow morning. 

Thunder rolled across the sky and he flinched when a flash of lightning crackled like a whip unleashed at a circus to tame a mighty lion. Rain began to pour, and fell into a gentle soothing rhythm outside the cave that they sought shelter in. 

He only hoped Romana and Braxiatel were having a better time on the Axis than he was in this miserable cave.

There plan had been to gather supplies for the Axis, for they were running low on food and medicine and other necessities. Romana had suggested the two to split up, whilst she and Braxiatel fixed the computers with K9 as the computers had been playing up recently, thanks to the cheap second-hand machines Braxiatel acquired. 

Narvin had strongly argued that in an ideal situation, he would have been more suited to fix the computer given his engineering background, but Leela had given him a stern look, indicating that Braxiatel and Romana needed some time alone together to talk through things before she dragged him by the elbow, and threw the portal before he could so much as open his mouth to complain.

Wonderland of Love - done

It was a delightful drama - visually stunning, great chemistry. I am incredibly fond of Xu Kai, and it's proof of how much that I still remained fond of him after his recent string of shudder-inducing choices (Court Lady, Royal Feast, the gaming thing, that modern with YM, Snow Eagle Lord.) But what a pleasure to watch a Xu Kai drama I genuinely enjoy and not suffer through.

You can tell that censorship had FWSC hemmed tighter than that second in command was clutching his evil boss' urn - we all know if she had her druthers, the stupid emperor would have been taken out in a coup by Li Ni (who would have actually got to kill one of his brothers) and there would have been a lot more of ambition and murder (the secondary girl? would have so been murdered!) But on the upside, we also got a blissful OTP ending and a ML who is probably the sole drama ML this year that I actually would want to be married to in RL.

Anyway, this was so delicious for my not-so-inner angst junkie:

Yes, our ML has kept the corpse of his wife around, slept by it, changed it etc. However wholesome, this is still a FWSC tale. And now he's giving the corpse a sword and taking her coffin in battle. I...I...I...this is feeding me!!!

I enjoyed him plain text telling evil secondary girl he will never have another wife, whether CL is alive or not, and to leave or he will kill her. He cuts off her jewelry and I think the lady is lucky this wasn't made a decade ago, or she'd be shorter by a head.

Have you ever considered invading the palace with the coffin of your wife by your side? No? Then don't even talk to me! PEAK GOTH METAL!!!

Li Ni's reaction to this royal order is an arrow to the throat. God, how I wish the narrative let him go all GMP insane!

"Hi Dad, so I come to visit you with a giant sword and a dead body of my spouse in an elaborate coffin. How you doin'?" I wish wish wish they let him go all Lee Bang Won/Li Shimin but alas (someone pointed out this is a fantasy wholesoming/whitewashing of Li Shimin and I can't unsee!)

Sadly, he's there for the prime minister and evil jieshuo people. Why can't we have nice things? But the best part is that FL finally comes back to life, in the middle of the battle, and her first move is to leap out of the coffin with that sword he left her in hand and kill the bad dude in unison with her husband. Battle Couple indeed.

This whole sequence was unbearably lovely but this was my favorite bit:

You guys are incorrigible and I LOVE YOU MANIACS SOOOOO!!!

The ending with him becoming an emperor for ten years and then passing the throne to his cousin and peacing out to live on the border with her and their kids as he wanted was lovely (even if realistically, it's just causing trouble for next generation - you bet his children/grandchildren and the new emperor's kids will end up in some battle) but my favorite part was when he was still emperor of them with their newborn son.

Anyway, this was a lovely lovely lovely chemistry-filled delight and one of my faves of the year!

Queen of Tears ep 9:

I continue to roll my eyes at Hyunwoo's and HaeIn's dynamic and their way of purposefully misunderstanding each other and/or lying by omission so the other can misunderstand them. It sounds funny but it's not. And while it does look cute in their flashbacks it has continued and added to the demise of their marriage. By this point i get that they dated like 2 years(?) before getting married and my biggest shock isn't that HyunWoo didn't realize he was dating a chaebol heir but that apparently they never fought. If they had, many of their (now very clear) issues would've come to light sooner. In fact, I think that they lasted as long as they did because they didn't talk to each other after the miscarriage.

Meanwhile I found the comedy of the romcom in literally every other character except for the villain. The families merging and interacting has been an unexpected highlight. But I do hate HaeIn's mother.

As for our villain well, I must pay compliments to the actor, because he is truly charismatic and even though I find him a deranged obsessive creep, I can't look away in his scenes. Someone asked if he was truly that delulu as to think he had any chances with HaeIn after what he did to her and her family, but I don't think the guy has any remorse about it, therefore doesn't think himself unworthy of her.

On the contrary, he has everything to offer her now. Plus, the way in which he views love it's via through his mother, who let him grow as an orphan in favor of gaining access to the Hong family and achieving her revenge. Such mother manipulated him, mistreated him, did with him as she wanted while saying it was all because she loved him. So of course he grew up with the most twisted definition of love. And that's exactly what he intends to do with HaeIn. I would have some pity for him if he wasn't such a psycho, but I do find him fascinating as a character. I think of him as a PG-13 version of the actor's character in The Glory who was equally twisted but wasn't held back by the shackles of the romcom genre and could psycho away as much as he wished. Ah, a moment of silence for EunSeong lol

I don't know where the drama goes from here, but I'm sure the writer intends for HaeIn's illness to be the final boss/big bad. So I won't hold my breath for better communication between otp until after they gain back Queens.

DL OTP Prompt #1: Meet Cute | Meet Ugly

meet-cute: a cute, charming, or amusing first encounter between romantic partners (as in a movie)

This short is based on the 1st prompt made by @yuriko-mukami for the 2024 DL OTP Challenge they're hosting. The ship I'm using for this is an OC x Canon pairing that I made for the AU "An Angel's Embrace": Angelica Amor x Karlheinz Sakamaki.

Though I have to admit, this probably will steer more towards the "meet ugly" side of the prompt depending on how this goes.

WARNING: Diabolik Lovers is a dark series with mature themes and topics. Discretion is advised. . . .

The Demon Realm. . . .

"Why the long face, sis?" Angelica's younger brother, Camilo, asked. Angelica looked at her younger brother with a rather dejected expression. "It's nothing, Camilo." she replied.

"The look on your face doesn't look like you're thinking about 'nothing', Angie." her youngest brother, the more mature and stoic Victor, said as he looked up from his book. "Are you not happy with the fact that Lady Christa is marrying Lord Karlheinz because he's. . .well, you know."

Angelica knew what Victor was referring to. It wasn't uncommon for demons to marry within their own family. Several of them did it, so it wasn't a surprise that Christa was marrying her older cousin, the infamous Vampire King Karlheinz Sakamaki.

Now while this was something that Angelica herself didn't like, it wasn't what was making her, in her brothers' words, "sullen".

"Honestly, I couldn't care less." she said, looking outside the carriage window to see if they were getting closer to the Sakamaki Castle. So far, they seemed to still be a good distance away.

"Really? Then is it because Wolfgang couldn't come with us to the wedding?"

". . . .I-"

"Don't lie." Victor interrupted. "It's beneath you."

Camilo roughly hit Victor with his elbow, causing the light pink haired male to look at his brother with distaste. "Camilo-"

"Oi, be nicer, alright?" Camilo told him, then added in a hushed whisper, "That's her husband you're talking about, remember."

". . . .Why are you acting like I've lost my memory about our brother-in-law?"

"I'm not-"

"Fine, I'll admit it. Especially if it gets you two to be quiet." Angelica interrupted, getting her brother's attention. "I do wish that he was here. I mean, it would be like a little reunion between the three of us." she revealed.

"Hmm, I guess that makes sense." Camilo said.

"Indeed." Victor added. "The three of you were close during our school years at Nevermore. In fact, if I remember correctly, she's the one to have introduced you two to each other. But I think that there's no need for you to be so worried. Wolfgang just needed to take care of something for his father, so he should make it in time."

"Vic's right Angie, there's no need to be so sad." Camilo said, trying to raise his sister's morale. "Knowing your husband, he'll be there in no time."

As she continued to look out the window, Angelica saw that they were now getting closer to the Vampire King's castle, where she noticed several other fancy carriages varying in colors at the front entrance. As a footman arrived at Angelica's side of the carriage, he opened the door and helped the silver eyed woman and her brothers out.

"Lady Angelica of the Amor family?" the footman asked. "Yes? Do you need something from me?" Angelica asked as her brothers were getting out of the carriage.

"Lady Christa has informed me that you and your family are to be seated with near the front with her and Lord Karlheinz's family. Please follow me."

The Sakamaki Castle, the Royal Gardens. . . .

"This is where Lady Christa wants to have you seated." the footman said, gesturing to the pristine seats that were saved for Angelica and her family, most of whom aren't at the wedding yet.

"Well, thank you good sir for saving these for us." Angelica said with a smile. She was unaware that the footman had blushed at the smile she gave him.

"Y-you're. . . .You're welcome, Lady Amor." he said with a light stutter. "If you and your brothers need anything, please let me or the head butler know."

Angelica nodded her head and went to go find Christa while her brothers stayed behind to interact with some of the other guests. She wanted to give her friend a little gift that she made for her before the wedding started, as it was something of a personal matter for her. She then used her magic to summon the gift, which was a small box wrapped in white wrapping paper and topped with a cute little rose red bow.

As Angelica walked through the castle's gardens, she overheard what sounded like a couple bickering with one another, though it seemed like who the feminine voice belonged to was doing most of it. Now Angelica didn't want to snoop on the couple, as it was unbecoming and rude for a woman to do such a thing: at least, that's what her mother used to tell her when she was younger.

However, the silver eyed woman stopped in her tracks when she heard Christa's name being mentioned. "?" Curiosity overcame her, which made Angelica hide herself behind the rose bushes and stayed as quiet as a mouse to listen to the conversation.

"I can't believe you Karl! It's bad enough that you took that plain woman as your second wife, but Christa?! Are you kidding me?!" the woman shouted in a shrill voice. "Now Cordelia, you know that I had no other choice." the man said, calm and collected. "Christa's parents and mine always did want us to be together, and it could help me with my current. . . .situation."

Angelica immediately tensed when she realized who they were. Karlheinz and Cordelia Sakamaki?! If she was caught listening to them, who knows what they'd do to her.

"NO OTHER CHOICE?! You-"

Not wanting to be caught, Angelica immediately snuck away from the still arguing couple, hoping that their argument would keep them distracted long enough for her to make her escape.

Though Cordelia didn't notice her at all, it appeared that a certain golden eyed vampire did.

As soon as she realized that she was far away, Angelica had stopped to rest as her poor feet were sore, it didn't help that she wore those stupid heels her aunt got her specifically for Christa's wedding. Angelica didn't mind wearing heels, she just hated that these particular ones dug into her skin when she ran.

'Maldicen estos estúpidos tacones!' Angelica thought as she sat down on a stone bench and took off her heels so her feet could rest, making her release a sigh of relief.

However, before she could have a chance to relax, Angelica immediately stiffened when she heard a now familiar voice say, "Ah, so this is where you went to."

"!"

Angelica turned her head to the direction where she heard the voice, and saw that it was none other than Christa's fiancé, Karlheinz. The pink haired woman immediately tried to get up and give him a proper curtsy. "Y-Your Majesty-"

"Now now, there's no need for that, my dear." Karlheinz said, his voice deep and suave. His golden eyes looked down at her feet and an expression that resembled concern appeared on his handsome features. "Oh my, those heels truly must have done a number on your poor feet."

Angelica immediately got embarrassed and quickly grabbed her shoes and put them back on, wincing at the pain that returned. "I'm so sorry! I-" "It's fine, my dear." Karlheinz interrupted. "I don't mind. After all, I could smell your blood from the cuts on your feet."

Angelica was, for a moment, rather speechless. How was she supposed to respond to that?

"Oh. . . .I-"

"Now, is there a reason why you're in my garden and not with the rest of the guests?"

Angelica, after taking in a deep breath, summoned the present for her friend, the reason she was in the gardens in the first place. "What is that?" Karlheinz asked as his eyes laid on the small box. "This is a gift for Christa, Your Majesty." Angelica explained.

"A gift? And you couldn't have left it with the others because. . . .?"

Angelica had gotten rather embarrassed, but decided to just get it over with. After all, Karlheinz is Christa's fiancé after all, so it shouldn't be a big deal telling him this, right?

"It's. . . .it's a replacement of an old item of hers that she lost during our school days." Angelica revealed.

"?" Karlheinz waited for her to explain further, which Angelica did. "When we were roommates, Christa had this rose pendant that she wore all the time. It was one of her most treasured items," Angelica said, a small smile appearing on her face as she remembered their time at the academy.

"Unfortunately, she lost it right before our class graduation. I remember how saddened she was, the poor thing. Luckily, It was rather easy for me to recreate, since the design was easy to remember and the materials weren't difficult to find."

When Angelica looked up from the gift box and back at Karlheinz, and was surprised to see that the Vampire King had a small look of shock on his face. "Your Majesty? Are you alright?"

"I. . . .I'm fine, my dear it's just. . . .it's rather uncommon for a demon to show such human emotions." was Karlheinz's response.

"Oh. . .well, I suppose you can thank my father for that. He's a human." Angelica told him.

"?!"

The revelation was very much shocking for the Vampire King, Angelica could tell that much. After all, it was practically unheard of for a demon to be raised by a human in Eden.

"You were. . . .hold on a second. Tell me, were you a student at Nevermore Academy?" Karlheinz questioned.

"Yes, I was." Angelica answered, a little confused. What did this have to do with what she told him?

"Then. . . .are you by any chance An-"

"Angelica? Are you here?" a soft feminine voice called out. A familiar one at that.

Christa emerged from the shadows, wearing an extravagant white silk dress that seemed to be encrusted with rubies and pearls, a matching necklace and earrings, white heels, and a white lace veil.

But what truly caught Angelica's attention was that right next to Christa was a large human-sized wolf with royal blue fur. Angelica, however, wasn't afraid of the wolf, as she knew who the wolf was. In fact, she was actually quite happy to see him.

"Wolfgang!"

The green eyed wolf's ears perked up, and he immediately ran up towards Angelica, shifting from wolf into man in the process.

"Mein Engel!" Wolfgang exclaimed, embracing Angelica. "It's so good to see you again!"

"I'm happy to see you too, Wolfie," Angelica said. As soon as he released her from his embrace, Angelica noticed that Karlheinz and Christa were both staring at them, though the two white haired vampires had different reactions.

Christa was looking at them with an adoring expression while Karlheinz simply looked confused. "Oh, my apologies, Your Majesty." Angelica said, an embarrassed look on her face. "This is my husband, Wolfgang. He's the son of Lord Gottfried."

"Ah, I see." Karlheinz said, the confusion now gone. "I remember seeing you at my meetings with the other clan leaders, though if I remember correctly, you were much smaller then."

"Oh, well I-"

"Angie? What's that in your hand?" Christa asked, hoping that she had prevented things from getting awkward between her fiancé and Angelica's husband.

"Oh! It's a gift that I wanted to give to you," Angelica said. The pink haired woman walked up to the blushing bride and gifted her the small box. Christa opened it and gasped when she saw what the box was containing. "Angie, how did you- -I thought I lost it!" Christa said, doing her best not to tear up.

"Well, I couldn't locate the original, so I had to create a new one from scratch." Angelica explained. "Do you like it?" "Like it? Angie, I love it!" Christa exclaimed as she embraced her silver eyed friend. "Thank you so much!" Angelica smiled as she returned her friend's hug. "You're welcome, Christa."

As the two women let each other go, they both failed to notice that Karlheinz was staring at the two. Well, at Angelica, to be accurate. This continued up until Wolfgang reminded everyone to head back to the wedding so the ceremony could begin.

Even when he and Christa recited their vows, the older male couldn't get the pink haired woman out of his mind.

once again the devils nest gang at large has me in a vice. i care about greed and bidos friendship as well as the romantic aspect but the fact that bido doesnt really interact with any of the gang aside from greed SUCKS and i wish we could have seen some of that

however we do at least get a flashback of bido Standing Next to blondie and one of the bouncers. which in true "desperate enjoyer of a very minor character" fashion ive extrapolated into him having been good friends with that bouncer, because from what little pagetime he gets he seems levelheaded enough to win bidos trust. at a baseline i think bido would be wary around most humans and especially just after escaping, so knowing one reliably-decent human would have probably helped a lot with readjusting to the outside. & then i think out of the chimeras he was probably on the best terms with martel and ulchi, both from Reptile Solidarity and those two being more outgoing and upbeat than average

i ALSO WISH he got to meet mei because i think theyre really similar in a lot of ways. he would relate very heavily to being small and disregarded and saddled with the responsibility of helping so many people survive by whatever means necessary. they also both love yelling indignantly at rude people which is awesome. i think theyd yell at each other like that Once and then shake hands out of respect

all my opinions about him are unpopular babey Nobody is tjinking about him as much as me!!! he is important and memorable for one. and he is so brave and he loves his friends so much. he deserves as much focus as the rest of the gang if not more. he is the gayest fma character. and his face is HANDSOME he looks like an awesome muppet and if you cant handle that then get your ass off sesame street........

listen now I am personally not a writer but I do work in character design and world building. How I feel about this character

He is highly underappreciated by his family and by the fandom.

I love that he was so horny for Penelope Clearwater, and Ginny caught them in the act. Our little perfect prefect isn't so perfect after all. (all weasleys are horn af. they get from their parents)

I find Percy and Oliver hilarious as two driven and over-ambitious nerds and the only Gryffindor boys in their year.

Audrey is a nobody but happy he got married.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Percy and all his siblings!

He is very protective of Ron and Ginny in particular. I love him trying (and failing) to care for Ginny in COS. Percy running into the lake after the second task to tackle Ron is one of my favorite moments in GOF. He loves his family!

My unpopular opinion about this character

He was right to be upset that his family didn't support his promotion. He went through hell his first year at the ministry and actually kept things afloat while his boss went missing. That is incredibly impressive and worthy of promotion!

Also, the Weasley twins were close to Percy, and yes, they took the mickey out of him, but he was a good sport about it and they were the most cut up when he left teh Burrow in OOTP.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

When Harry and co went to the ministry in DH I wish they got a moment with Percy so we could learn how he was funneling information to Aberforth and for how long

29. First date? (Give as much or little detail)

Slash was the one who built up the courage to ask her out. Alopex was surprised and convinced this was all a trick, a plot to have her guard down so her enemies would ambush her, so throughout the entire date Alopex was on guard. Always inspecting the area and having a weapons or four on her. When they had a candlelight dinner, Alopex, still suspicious, fed Slash her food, testing to see if he poisoned it. Slash just thought she was doing a cheesy romantic thing. The entire date Slash didn’t suspect that Alopex was suspicious of him. When he walked her home, Alopex was utterly confused. “Where’s the ambush? He didn’t attack me? The food wasn’t poisoned? What’s his deal?!” She thought. Then that’s when Slash decided to make his move, leaning in towards her. Alopex, thinking he’s going to finally attack her, attacks first, grabbing Slash, throwing him to the ground and aiming a knife at his throat. That’s when she begins shouting at him, demanding to know where the ambush is, who he’s working for and what was his intentions with her. Slash is confused and tells her there’s no ambush, he works for no one and his intentions were to kiss her. Alopex is shocked but this as she listens to Slash apologize for trying to kiss, thinking he overstepped her boundaries, she starts to cry. Slash panics, thinking he did something wrong. Through her tears Alopex cried out that she ruined everything. She was so worried and thought so little of him that he would hurt her that she couldn’t even take an evening to enjoy her very first date. She apologizes to Slash, telling him if he never wants to see her again then she understands, but Slash tells her that she shouldn’t apologize on how this is the best day he’s ever been on. The two share a laugh and agreed to go on a second date very soon, with Alopex thanking him and wishing him a goodnight with a quick kiss on the cheek.

30. Pet names? Yes or no?

Alopex hates pet names, finding them embarrassing, but that doesn’t stop Slash. She would offered shorten Alopex’s name and just call her “Al”, or give her other nicknames like “Foxy” or “Pookie” or just referring to her as “Beautiful”. That’s secretly Alopex’s favorite nickname, because of our insecurities of being a mutant she doesn’t think that she’s pretty anymore.

33. What is their wedding day like?

It was small autumn wedding at April’s farmhouse. Nothing too big, for Slash and Alopex are the type of couple that don’t like to draw attention to themselves. They got married in the barn, that was beautifully decorated in white flowers and warm golden lights. Not a lot of guest, with only the Turtles, Mutanimals, April, Casey, Karai, Shini and Kurtzman being the only ones invited. Alopex wore a puffy short white gown that flowed down to her knees, and Raph and Mona were the best man/maid of honor. And though Alopex didn’t see him/know he was there, Tiger Claw did attend, witnesses his sister’s wedding from a far distance.

Ciri

How I feel about this character: Ciri is complicated character for me. I didn't really care for her in the books and the books came first for me, prior to games or TV. I never really came to like book Ciri. Game Ciri was a definite improvement, and oddly TV Series Ciri grew on me. I also appreciate her story - the direct escape from Cintra - much more than the book version of the events. I think I will always end up writing a slightly AU version of Ciri, but I have come to appreciate her character and have fun with certain stories about her.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Morvran, several Witchers, Eskel and Letho among them. Coën

Morvran - the main pairing in my mind. Empress or Witcheress ending both. In the Witcheress ending Ciri would be free to chose, and when she falls for General Voorhis, she'd not even know he is the man, her father wanted her to marry. And Morvran is simply fascinated with this kick-ass Lady, no matter who she might be. In the Empress ending their start would be a bit more rocky, until Ciri realises that Morvran is willing to accept her the way she is, and to wait for her until she is ready.

Letho/Eskel/other Witchers: Witcheress Ending only. Ciri living the life of a Witcher and ultimately falling in love with one of her brothers in arms. Or maybe with two.

Coën - is my AU ship at the end of Song of the Dragon. Only hinted at, but it is there. He followed Ciri on that long journey to discover her true heritage, and he chooses to stick with her, giving up on returning home in the end. They'll grow closer and ultimately fall in love. Ciri deserves a knight in shining armour and our Griffin is just that.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Regis

The way they encountered in Stygga should have left some impression and I see Ciri and Regis becoming close friends after B&W. I also see Regis as someone who might see Ciri's scars, and slowly help her to deal with the nightmares of her past. Regis will understand the things that Geralt, as a Witcher, cannot.

My unpopular opinion about this character: She never even considered returning to Cintra, or negotiating as the Princess for some type of vassal state for her homeland. She never thinks of what her people go through under Nilfgaard, she just runs away. Even as she gets older and realises that Nilfgaard wants some kind of legitimacy for their claim, she never even tries to make use of that. In that way she is a spoiled Princess brat, not seeing her responsibilities towards her people.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon. That instead of becoming a murderer among the rats, she'd have considered the slower and unglorious way of finding honest work. As a farmhand, in the stables, as scullery maid, whatever - she goes down the way of the thief, plunderer and murderer too easily, and I wish she had a crossroads there, where she went a different path.

And ABOVE ALL: I wish canon, especially the books, would not objectify Ciri the way they do.

Boromir

How I feel about this character: This was the character that fascinated me from my first reading of Lord of the Rings on. I was 13 at the time, and to me Boromir had clear Hagen of Tronege vibes. And I was a fan of Hagen. What fascinated me was that Boromir came from the direct border of the dark lands, so he must have experience with the enemy they are faced with, but somehow no one thought to ask him. I also wondered what drove him to turn on his companions and my earliest conclusion was, that he did not see how they could succeed. Gimli and Legolas were bickering about whether Axe or Bow were the better weapon, Aragon was focused on becoming King, so he could marry Arwen and the hobbits had no clue about anything - so i thought he felt his companions did not really take the whole danger serious. Later, as I grew up, that view evolved on a more psychological question, and also considered the burdens Boromir already carries, as a commander and the son of a deeply unhappy family.

To this day Boromir is my hero, he always will be. Even as the picture of him that I had in my mind, got deeply changed thanks to Sean Bean's wonderful portraying him.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: None actually. I got told my story had vibes for Boromir/Kili and also for Boromir/Shakurán. (Shakurán being an OC Easterling soldier, invented by me so Boromir would have a named opponent to scheme and fight against). Both pairings are absolutely imaginable, only I was maybe never able to write them.

I always wondered why Boromir in the books wasn't married. He was 42 when he died, and coming from a noble house with only two children, I'd have expected him to be married at a young age. But he wasn't. One can wonder about the reasons, which would allow even more speculation on potential pairings.

My non-romantic OTP for this character:

My AU: Kili

This only makes sense if you read my story, but their story is one of a friendship that transcends destiny and death itself.

In canon: Faramir I'd say. The two brothers against the rest of the world.

My unpopular opinion about this character: he was a better leader than Aragorn ever was.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon. There are two. One is of course that he survived Amon Hen and made his way home, to fight in the war of the ring.

And the second: that he had a family. As i said before: according to Tolkien Boromir is 42 when he dies, and there is no logical reason why he wasn't long married, and be it to secure the Stweard's line. It would have been fascinating, and hopefully deeply shaking and uncomfortable, if Aragorn reached Gondor, became King, only to be faced with Boromir's widow and sons. It would have been such great drama and emotional hurt potential. (I had even started writing a story in that vein, but never got far)

Where in the world is Henrietta Lange?  Not helping the Admiral today though Kensi thinks she might be.

Who's down with OTP:  Deeks was more under control than usual when Kensi was in danger.  Was happy as always to see her safe back in the office.  Fatima is working through any feelings she may have for Akhil.

Who's down with BrOTP:  Callen and Sam were perfectly Callen and Sam in the episode.  Sam was a good friend/teammate/mentor to Fatima at the end of the episode.  Kilbride and Col. Ladd are besties.

Fashion review:  Callen wore a white and blue plaid button down shirt.  Long sleeve tees for Sam (black) and Deeks (darker blue).  Kensi wears a great long-sleeve pull-over sweater.  She and Deeks wear dark rain jackets at the crime scene.  Fatima starts the episode in workout gear – oversized light grey sweatshirt.  Wears a spiffy brown leather jacket with a white turtleneck for the rest of the episode.  Rountree had a green jacket with black pockets over a black tee.  Kilbride was in his Kilbride uniform – medium blue three-piece suit, light blue dress shirt, red and blue tie.  He donned a trench coat when visiting Col. Ladd.

Quote:  Sam:  “I’ve spent a lot of time staring out at this water, searching for answers.” Fatima:  “Any tips?  I'm coming up empty.” Sam:  “You doing okay?” Fatima:  “Physically? Yeah.  Emotionally, mentally and spiritually?  I don't know how to answer that.” Sam:  “Well, you don't need to have the answers.  Not right now.” Fatima:  “I just...I keep thinking about all the women out there...not allowed to make their own life choices.  What to wear.  Who to marry.  What they can and can't do with their own bodies.  Freedom of thought, freedom of choice. Sam:  “It's terrifying to some people.” Fatima:  “It's not fair.” Sam:  “The world will never be fair.  But it could be better.  Good things are happening.  Even though it doesn't  always feel like it.” Fatima:  “I just wish they would happen faster.”

Anything else:  The previously-s include a greatest hits package for Akhil Ali and Col. Ladd.  Fatima wakes up in a car on fire, tied to the head rest.  In the driver’s seat is in unconscious Kensi. 

Eight hours earlier, Fatima is working out with Akhil with a trainer named Jeremy who is part of Herbie’s military training company.  As Fatima walks away, Akhil asks how his training was going.  Jeremy was impressed that Akhil stopped making squeaking sounds whenever he was grabbed.

Fatima tells Akhil that for his first self-defense class, he did better than expected.  Fatima thinks he will be bringing down a suspected without breaking his nose no in time.  Akhil is happy to spend this time with Fatima but maybe in the future they’d spend time together by taking a nice walk.  The two make dinner plans.

Callen and Sam are in the armory discussing the use of armrests on a plane.  Three seats, four armrests according to Sam.  One passenger – in this case Sam – get the second  armrest.  “Simple math,” according to Sam.  Callen thinks Sam bullies his way to that second seat rest.  He also notices that Sam is worried.  And Sam is.  He’s going on a trip and leaving Raymond with his caretaker Constance.  Callen notes that even Sam thinks things have never been better with Raymond now that Constance in the picture.  Sam is going across the country to see Aiden.  Callen suggests taking Raymond across the country – it would be a great trip for the Hanna men.  Besides, if Sam is worried about Raymond he’s going to make everyone around him crazy and that’s the moment Sam becomes Raymond.  Everyone is going to Ops – they have a case.

Fatima and Rountree start the debrief in Ops, Lt. Zahra Mahmad is a Navy submariner.  For the last two years, she was working with a defense contractor in El Segundo.  Her team was working on an anti-detection program for nuclear subs.  Callen notes that sort of program could make her a target for any country interested in hiding their nuclear subs or finding America’s subs.  According to Zahra’s CO, she left work early the day before for personal reason.   She’s not answering calls or texts.  It isn’t like her.

Sam points out that Zahra isn’t missing for even 24-hours yet.  Maybe she’s off doing something and hasn’t had time to respond.  Fatima agrees but with Zahra’s knowledge and security clearances, ONI wants her found.  LAPD checked her home but nobody was there.  Her parents live in Northridge, they own an Afghani restaurant.  Fatima sees the menu is in Dari.   Callen says he’s going to see Zahra’s CO when Rountree tells Callen that Kilbride as the CO going to the boat shed.  Kilbride will do the interview.  Callen and Sam instead will go to Zahra’s home.  Fatima will go with Kensi and Deeks to the family’s restaurant.  With Fatima speaking Dari, she could help.  The parents could as well – they may know something that could lead to Zahra’s location.

At the boat shed, Kilbride dismisses Castor and speaks with Zahra’s CO, Captain Alonzo.  Kilbride tells Alonzo that Vice Admiral Hunt thinks the world of him and Alonzo is properly humble.  Kilbride know Alonzo’s background and thinks he’d work well at NCIS.  The Office of Military Support has an opening and Alonzo would be perfect.  Alonzo would consider the position. 

Turning to Zahra, Alonzo said that he’s never worked with anyone at her level.  One of the hardest workers he’s been around.  And suddenly she’s missing, the Admiral notes, what is really going on.  Zahra was part of a top secret mission, Alonzo’s hands are tied when it comes to discussing her work assignment.  Kilbride is having none of that.  The NCIS agents would be flying blind in their search for Zahra – “that’s how mistakes get made.”  The Navy has a mission that they are going through no matter what happened to Zahra.  Reading between the lines, the Navy has a secret mission using nuclear subs that if it is compromised, SEAL Team 2 will be going in instead – a suicide mission.  NCIS has 12-hours to find Zahra or the SEALs are going in.

In Zahra’s home, the place is as neat as a pin.  Callen finds a safe but their warrant won’t allow them to open the safe.  Sam gets a text from Rountree.  There was a suspicious activity report on Zahra’s bank account.  She cashed out $20,000.�� Callen asked when was the last time Sam made a large cash transaction.  He hasn’t – checks, bank wires, credit cards.  More secure but much easier to trace.  Callen thinks Zahra wanted to disappear – and maybe sell some secrets.  Sam is going to get Rountree to expand the warrant to include the safe.

At the Mahmad’s restaurant, Deeks loves the smell of the place.  Fatima pulls out a menu and starts making recommendations.   Kensi sees Zahra’s mom.  Walking up, Kensi pulls out her badge and starts asking questions.  Zahra’s dad stops the one-way conversation.  His wife’s cooking is a literal chef’s kiss but her English is not very good.  Deeks explains he has the exact opposite problem.  That earns him a chuckle from Zahra’s dad, Ahmad, and a glare from Kensi. 

Kensi restarts her explanation, saying that Zahra is missing.  Ahmad is stunned.  The family last got together the previous Saturday.  Zahra was her normal, happy self.  Zahra’s mom, Mina, walks away crying.  Kensi asks if Zahra seemed like she was in trouble but Ahmad says no.  Mina is openly weeping.  Deeks asks about Zahra’s brother.  Ahmad says he is studying in London, working on his master’s degree.  Fatima asks if the siblings are close.  Ahmad says they are all close – family means everything to them.  Mina asks Ahmad why are they asking questions about their son Omar. 

Kensi asks if they know anyone who would know about Zahra.  Ahmad says no, explaining that 30-years ago, their families left Afghanistan.  Almost everyone went to Pakistan but Ahmad and Mina went to America to chase their dream – opening a restaurant, raising their children where they would be safe from violence.  Fatima is getting weepy.  Ahmad asks Kensi to find Zahra and bring her home to her family.  Ahmad comforts his wife.

Leaving the restaurant, Fatima is sure that the brother is suspicious.  Mina spoke to Ahmad about Omar when they were questioning Ahmad.  Mina may not speak English but she understood what Kensi, Deeks and Fatima were saying.  Deeks can’t understand why Mina would pretend she didn’t understand – her daughter is missing, NCIS is trying to find her.  Fatima thinks as immigrants, the Mahmads may not trust law enforcement.  Her parents had issues before Fatima joined NCIS, “and they live in Beverly Hills.”  Kilbride wants them all back in Ops, Kensi is going to look into Omar.

While Callen is trying to crack Zahra’s safe, Sam is being cranky.  Callen notes Raymond would be cranky too.  Sam finds Zahra’s license, car registration and EZ-Pass in a jar on a book shelf.  Zahra is traveling and doesn’t want to be found.  Sam has Rountree check Kaleidoscope for Zahra’s car.  Callen finally gets into the safe and finds some jewelry and family items.  Also her passport.  If Zahra was looking to get out of town, she’d take those things.  Sam thinks maybe Zahra really was kidnapped.  “Or she wants us to thinks she was,” Sam adds. 

Rountree calls.  Looking through Zahra’s phone, she mostly speaks to her parents but has had daily calls for the last seven months with a Ted Brown.  Sam wonders if he’s a boyfriend but Zahra’s parents never mentioned a boyfriend, unless she was keeping things quiet until they got more serious.  Rountree finds that Brown has a sealed juvie record and a lot of debt – credit cards and high interest college loans.  The $20,000 could be for Brown or Brown could be extorting her.

An unhappy Kilbride walks into Ops.  He just got his “ass chewed” by an under-secretary in the Navy.  “I don’t like getting my ass chewed, makes it uncomfortable to sit.”  He wants a sit-rep on Zahra.  Rountree found her car – it has been in the shop since the weekend.  She’s been using a loaner.  That car is parked in a lot downtown.  Kensi and Deeks are going to talk to Ted Brown.  Kilbride wants answers before he has nothing left to sit on.

Walking to Ted Brown’s home, Deeks is stunned that Fatima’s parents were suspicious of the police and “they live in one of the wealthiest zip codes in America.”  He’s worried about what Rosa will be dealing with.  Kensi reminds him that while they won’t be there all the time for Rosa, they will be there and will help her.  Ted Brown’s door is opened, obviously forced entry.  Inside, Deeks finds a tortured but still alive Ted Brown.

In the garage, Sam finds a note in Zahra’s loaner that says “Roger 8 Broad”.  Callen thinks 8 Broad could be 8th and Broadway, which is just a few blocks from the garage.  There is a currency exchange on 8th and Broadway with some criminal times.  With $20,000, Zahra could be in trouble.  Sam thinks if a Roger works there, Roger has some explaining to do.

Walking up to Col. Ladd at an outdoor park’s lunch tables, Kilbride makes fun of the Colonel’s kombucha drink.  Ladd is drinking it because it clears up the bad bacteria in his gut.  The Admiral mentions prune juice doing the same job.  Speaking of jobs, Kilbride asks how Ladd is doing with the Space Force.  Ladd has no complaints except his title – “Director of Warfare Integration at the Space System Command” is a mouthful.  Ladd is thrilled his new employer sees his head and his heart, not his right and left legs.  The Admiral asks a favor – with Ladd getting his security clearance back, could he do some digging about the Navy’s secret mission.  “I know you don’t owe me or your country any debt…”  Ladd cuts Kilbride off – “what the hell do you need me to do?”

A crime scene tech gives Kensi Ted’s smashed cellphone.  Ted is alive but in a coma.  After dealing with a woman who wanted to braid Deeks’s hair, Deeks tells Kensi the woman saw an unfamiliar SUV in Ted’s driveway the prior day.  Rountree is looking for security camera footage of the vehicle.  Reviewing the case, Zahra could have been swept up by people who wanted their money back from debt-ridden Ted.  Or someone was looking for Zahra and beat Ted up to try to get to her.  There are photos in Ted’s home – Zahra and Ted are obviously in love.

At the currency exchange, Roger is working the desk.  Callen and Sam show him a photo of Zahra, who he claims he’s never seen before.  Sam asks to see the security cameras but Roger doesn’t have any.  Callen points out a fake plant that has a camera, Sam a clock radio and an owl figurine that are likely cameras.  Roger finds plants calming, even fakes ones.  The clock radio and owl figurine are just décor.  Callen explains that Zahra’s car is in the parking lot nearby where they found the address of  the currency exchange’s location and Roger’s name written on a note.  He's the last one to see her alive and the could be an accomplice to the kidnapping of a Naval Officer.  Roger becomes a bit more helpful.  Zahra was in about a week ago.  He is a hawala broker on the side – someone who send money overseas without getting the government involved.  This is illegal if he’s not registered (he’s not) and if he’s not telling the government about the exchanges (he’s not).  Zahra was supposed to send some money to an account in Pakistan but never showed up.

Rountree found the SUV outside of Brown’s house – it was a rental from a small rental company that accepts cash and a now known fake ID.  The bad guys picked up the SUV at the rental location so Rountree is checking Ubers and taxis dropping people off.  Fatima found footage of Zahra being grabbed at the parking lot.  It is the same SUV as the one parked outside of Brown’s house.  She tells Callen and Sam the kidnappers wore masks and were well-armed.  Zahra never had a chance.

In the gadget area, which has been woefully underused since Eric and Nell left for Japan, Kensi is trying to open Brown’s phone with no luck.  Deeks stops by as she nearly drops it, calling the phone a “slippery little sucker”.  Fatima joins in, recognizing the “Pretty Woman” reference.  Kensi thinks she’s working with Siskel and Ebert and passes the phone to Deeks.  Fatima found Zahra’s brother Omar, who is living in San Francisco, not London.  And Omar hasn’t spoken to his parents in years.  This contradicts Ahmad’s statement that the family is very close.  Omar wasn’t really open about what was going on but Fatima tells them Ahmad and Mina believe in a strict adherence to the Koran.  Omar said he was beaten as a child for being too Western.  Kensi and Fatima decide to see Ahmad and Mina again, Deeks is going to try to get the sim card out of Brown’s phone.

In Ops, Rountree tells Deeks he’s found the SUV driver – Muhammad Hasan.  Looking at his social media and online postings in the last year, Hasan has become a member of an Islamic military sect.  Hasan has a flight out of LA today – whatever he’s in Los Angeles to do, it finishes today.

Rountree calls Callen and Sam to update them on Hasan.  This may have nothing to do with her work in the Navy.  Kilbride calls – it certainly has nothing to do with the secret Navy mission.  The Navy is going to track Russian military activity in the Arctic – staging nuclear weapons.  Zahra was part of the team making the US subs untraceable.  She knew nothing about the mission in the Artic.  Kilbride wants Zahra found now.

In the office, Deeks found that Ahmad his a hotel suite booked in Pakistan later this year for a wedding.  A man named Bashir Khan is getting married and he’s getting married to Zahra.  Khan is a wealthy man – could he be behind this?  Sam doesn’t think so, Zahra’s parents wouldn’t allow her to marry a non-Muslim man.  Instead, they put together an arranged marriage.  Zahra’s $20,000 withdrawal may have been an attempt to buy her freedom.  Refusing the marriage would dishonor the family.  Deeks wonders if this was an honor killing.  Callen says they have no proof that Zahra is dead yet.  But suddenly Kensi and Fatima’s trip to the restaurant is a bit more worrisome.

Kensi and Fatima walk into the restaurant.  The place has been trashed.

Callen and Sam are on their way to the restaurant, Deeks is going too until Kilbride pops up on the plasma behind Deeks’s desk.  Deeks is ordered to stay in the office.

Mina Ahmad is speaking from the back of the restaurant.  Fatima replies in Dari.  Mina is tending to her husband, who looks like he’s been beaten.  On comms, Deeks warns them that the parents may be involved in Zahra’s kidnapping.  Hasan comes out from the kitchen.  He’s going to shoot Mina if Kensi and Fatima don’t drop their weapons.

Rountree tells Callen and Sam that Hasan is Zahra’s cousin.  There are two more cousins in Los Angeles.

Kensi and Fatima are surrounded by the Hasan brothers.  Mina asks Hasan not to go through with the plan.  Hasan explains that Mina failed to raise Zahra properly. 

Callen and Sam are 10-minutes out.  Deeks is not happy.  Kensi agrees to dropping the weapons.  She puts her gun on the ground but pulls out a baton. She and Fatima try to fight but eventually both women are knocked out.  Deeks is really not doing well. 

Kensi and Fatima’s trackers are offline.  The Audi is still outside of the restaurant but Kensi and Fatima are likely on the move.  Callen calms Deeks down and gets Rountree in the mix.  Deeks finds another Hasan family member, who owns a warehouse in Long Beach.  Callen and Sam are on their way.

And we’re back in the beginning with Fatima struggling to get Kensi to wake up and to get out of the car where they are trapped.  The area outside of the vehicle is ablaze.  Callen and Sam arrive but are taking fire from the Hasan brothers. 

Deeks runs out of Ops, only to be met by Kilbride.  Deeks is told he won’t get out to Long Beach in time to save Kensi but he could work to put out the fire from Ops.  In Ops, Deeks gets a visual of a fire extinguisher near the warehouse door. 

Callen and Sam make their way to the warehouse but Callen’s gun jams.  The Hasans are still firing away and the flames are all around the car with Kensi and Fatima.   

Fatima gets free and starts untying Kensi.  Kensi is finally awake. 

Callen gets his gun unjammed just in time to see the vehicle where Kensi and Fatima were blow up to a million pieces.

Deeks is very quiet until Sam says he can see Kensi and Fatima.  Deeks offers a “thank God” but the Admiral warns him not to offer thanks just yet. 

Kensi and Fatima hear Zahra screaming.  She’s being pulled to a different SUV by Hasan.  When Zahra tries to pull away, she knocked to the ground and kicked.  Kensi pops up and threatens to kick Hasan’s ass.  As Kensi pushes a dumpster toward Hasan, Hasan opens fire on the dumpster.  This gives Fatima time to find a pipe and knock Hasan out from behind.  She says “bye bitch” in Dari – which is a great call back.

Callen and Sam make quick work of the rest of the Hasan brothers.  Kensi and Fatima comfort a beaten Zahra.

In the Admiral’s office, he’s sharing stories with Col. Ladd.  Kilbride thanks Ladd for taking a big risk to help him.  Ladd replies that the only reason he has something to risk is because of the Admiral.  Ladd is calling it a day because if they hang around anymore, they’d probably wind up in a bar.  Those days are over for Ladd.  The two men hug – Ladd has the Admiral’s back - “Always.”

Rountree explains to Deeks as they go down the stairs from Ops that Zahra’s uncle was in touch with the Hasans.  The uncle was pulling the strings, the parents were not involved.  Kensi arrives with Callen.  Deeks gives Kensi a big hug and asks they never do this again.  Zahra is bruised but otherwise alright.  She’s with Ted in the hospital.  Ted’s awake and expected to make a full recovery.  As Rountree leaves, Deeks is stunned that Zahra’s family would do this to her.  Kensi brings up that it was all done in the name of honor.  Callen disagrees – it isn’t honor, it is fear. 

Kilbride arrives – the artic recon mission was a success.  Callen asks how the Admiral found out about the recon mission.  Kilbride said he turned to an  old friend.  “Hetty?” Kensi asks.  “I said friend,” Kilbride replies as he leaves.  Callen, Kensi and Deeks are packing up.  Callen asks about Ted’s phone that is on Deeks’s desk.  Kensi starts to laugh – he couldn’t get the SIM card out, could he.  He did.  But the SIM card was so damaged it only had the last sent text message on it.  Ted told Zahra he loved her.  Kensi’s not laughing now.  She’s hungry.  The three decide to go out for Afghani food.

In the boat shed on the back deck, Sam talks about the hours he spent looking for answers in the water.  He asks Fatima if she is OK.  Physically, she’s fine.  She doesn’t know about emotionally, spiritually and mentally.  She is worried about all the women who can’t make their own choices – what to wear, what to do with their lives, who to love.  Sam says the thoughts of choice terrify some people.  Fatima talks about things being fair but Sam says the world is never fair.  But they are getting better.  Fatima wants things to move faster. 

Akhil arrives but seeing Sam with Fatima says he can leave.  Sam says he has a flight and needs to leave.  Before he does, he tells Fatima the answers she is looking for will come.  After Sam leaves, Akhil asks about Fatima’s day but doesn’t push it.  He also asks about dinner – again not pushing it – but Fatima would like something to eat.  She just needs a second to compose herself.  Akhil gives her “as long as you need.”

As Fatima gives the water one last look, she says “Woman, life, freedom” in Farsi.

What head canon can be formed from here:    A really generic episode.  You could have replaced Rountree with Eric and not change a single line of dialogue.  Actually, wanna bet Hetty knows Col. Ladd as well.  And she certainly had her hand-picked allies in different agencies when she needed help.  Kilbride’s lines could be Hetty’s in season three.

The main storyline had an interesting aspect with Fatima looking at people who were corrupting her beliefs but mostly it was a generic NCIS/Law & Order/CSI the missing person isn’t missing for the reason you think episode.  Totally forgotten was Zahra’s brother who wasn’t getting his master’s degree and claimed his parents beat him.  We’re just going to forget about lying to federal agents and child abuse.

Nice callbacks to Jocko Willink’s season 13 Herbie character with the trainer in the gym and Akhil’s broken nose in season 13’s “Genesis”.

Favorite thing about them

whoever designed him deserves a fucking raise and i mean that both personality and appearance wise. i love the contrast of how he looks vs how he acts, he has a specific kind of flamboyant masculinity that we don't often get in male characters with his build i think? plus everytime he appears, he is an absolute delight. every character should follow medic's example of excellent character design.

Least favorite thing about them

playing as him is basically stress simulator which admittedly makes him not as fun to play compared to support/healer characters in other fps games

i love giving him grandma mannerisms. i think he has an assortment of old man candies and bandaids in his medical purse and gives them to children who scrape their knees (and his teammates just to mess with them)

medic genuinely likes other people and enjoys their company, i don't know why this is hard for people to understand but we literally have canon evidence of that. he is fully capable of bonding with others full stop.
