it took him some time to come around and understand the concept of age regression, but because he loves you so much he's willing to let you teach him about it

as he learns how important regressing is for you, he starts to feel happy that you trust him enough to share that (he won't say that tho)

being a caregiver gives him a sense of belonging, and it really helps him take his mind off other things because you're his top priority when regressed

super protective. he's always got a hand on you, whether it's holding your hand, his hand hovering on your side, pressed to your lower back, on your knee etc.

if his friends try and make some kind of smart comment about you or give you a weird look he is quick to snap

Plot: John B discovers a whole new side to himself while caring for a certain little

John B was frantically running around the house, picking up random things before putting them back down and running off again. And all the while, incessant screaming and crying could be heard from the spare bedroom. (35)

"I know bubba. I know. I'm looking for Sean now!" He yelled back as soothingly as possible.

See, this has become something of a normal routine. Everytime JJ felt himself starting to slip ( which was at least once a week), he would get himself to John B's house and he would take care of him.

The only problem? JJ is not what you would call an easy child, as shown by the fact that he was once again throwing a tantrum after he lost his stuffed shark, Sean.

After almost 30 minutes of searching, John B finally found it next to the chicken coop. "Of course" he thought, "JJ must have left it out here when he said goodnight to the rooster"

"Hey J" he called out while letting himself back inside. "Guess what I found?"

Almost immediately, the tantrum stopped. He handed him the stuffie and JJ accepted it. He cuddled into the pillow and muttered a small "t'ank 'ou" before letting himself drift off. (200)

John B backed out of the room quietly before collapsing on the couch. He pulled out his phone and scrolled for a while. He rubbed his eyes tiredly while he stretched and made his way to his bedroom.

"I love Baby J, I really do, but it's tiring having to full time take care of him by myself" he found himself thinking once again. John B has tried convincing JJ to regress around the rest of the pouges and he's tried before but he just can't seem to do it.

So that just leaves John B, caring for JJ completely alone while hiding this monumental secret from most of his closest friends.

Completely exhausted and burnt out, John B was surprised to find himself crying into his pillow. The more he tried to stop it, the more the soft feeling at the back of his mind rose up and the harder he cried.

The sobs built and built until he was dizzy from lack of air. But he had worked himself up now and the flimsy barrier keeping the small side of him down had long since snapped.

He was entirely regressed and entirely alone while mid-meltdown. In fact, he was so distraught that he didn't hear the click of JJ's door as he wandered out of his room after being woken up.

He was so deep into his meltdown that he didn't register JJ at all until a hand came down and rested on his back, causing him to jump.

"Hey, little man." A familiar voice said soothingly. "Are you ok? Can you take a biiig breath for me?"

Still, John B found himself unable to calm down. Instead, he gulped down air. Being face down in the pillow certainly didn't help matters either.

JJ was starting to panic over the fact that John B just seemed to be getting worse "Hey bubs? Can I touch you?" He asked gently, unsure of whether or not he was even little.

John B just nodded into his pillow, still having sobs rip out of his throat.

JJ helped to sit him up. The light hurt his eyes so he latched onto him. His whole body was wracked with sobs and little whimpers escaping every so often.

He just sat there, holding the shaking little. They would have sat there for almost an hour. JJ was sitting silently, rubbing John B's back while the sobs deteriorated into soft whimpers and little yawns.

He was completely exhausted from his breakdown. They would definitely have to have a long and likely awkward conversation about this later but for right now, he was happy to lay in his best friend's lap and let his worries melt away

//next morning//

John B finally managed to pull himself from a deep sleep. He looked around groggily to try and find the source of the noise that woke him up.

And of course, yet again, he found JJ up and making breakfast.

"Morning J" John B said groggily

"Mornin' big man" He replied happily, flipping a pancake.

John B sat himself down and turned on the TV, adjusting the antennas at the top to try and get a signal. Eventually, he managed to get an old cartoon channel. He settled into the couch and watched a rerun of the Simpson's.

It didn't take long for JJ to finish making the pancakes. He put them on a plate and walked over to John B, plopping himself down next to him.

John B contently ate pancakes with JJ until an ad break came up. JJ turned a little and smoothly said, "so... how much do you remember from last night?"

John B stopped dead mid-bite. His entire body froze up. He took a long, deep breath and mentally counted to 10 before responding.

"Um... not much man. Why? Did I get blackout?"

JJ looked at him carefully, judging how to go about approaching this.

"Just... how much do you remember?"

"Um... I remember looking for Sean. I remember putting you to bed" at this JJ blushed fiercely but still John B continued. "I remember going out to the couch. And nothing after that"

JJ stilled himself in an attempt to make himself look less scary. He was preparing for the very real possibility that John B could slip again when he brought it up.

"Alright man... this is going to be a tough conversation but I need you to listen to me ok?" JJ asked, being the bigger person for the first time in a long time.

"Yeah sure?" He answered, confused about what was happening.

JJ stayed silent for a minute, deliberating what would be the best way to say it before deciding to just be blunt. "I think you age regress too".

John B immediately sprung into defensiveness. "Nuh uh! I take care of you, not the other way around! I'm not the baby here!" He half yelled, feeling the fuzzy feeling building up again.

JJ just stayed silent during his rant. When it was clear that John B was done, he got up and made more pancakes. John B let out a whine when he realised that JJ was ignoring him.

"I told you that I need you to listen didn't I?" He asked firmly.

John B just nods sadly, fully sinking into his age regression.

"Awe bubs" He coos, coming back over to the couch with the pancakes. He sets them down on the table and opens his arms. John B curls up in his arms for a cuddle.

"So bubba, do you believe me yet?" He asked calmly after a moment. He just nodded, feeling too overwhelmed for words.

"But... I think it might be time to bring in some other pouges, huh?" JJ offered. John B just babbles at JJ and he just chuckles.

"You do know regression isn't a bad thing right? Look at how much it's helped me. I think it could be really good for you" JJ whispered, not wanting to overwhelm John B anymore than he already was.

"We'll talk more when you're big yeah?"

And with that JJ took John B's hand and the two played on the playground outside of John B's house. And it was the best fun they'd had in a long time.

Crazy idea, but he’s actually a flip

He definitely regresses, but he also takes care of Kie and John B

When he’s the little guy, Kie is his main caregiver

However, everyone takes care of him really

His regression age is 2-5

JJ has the cutest little lisp when regressed

He’s the most hyper little guy you’ve ever seen

He gets excited very easily and he’s also just such a happy boy

JJ’s also naturally mischievous and enjoys messing with Pope

Especially when Pope makes that little ‘eep!’ sound. JJ always laughs hard at that

He uses bottles and sippy cups, depending on the age

This is the same for diapers

However, pacifiers are used all the time no matter what

He loves boats

He has toy boats, he has books on them, he watches anything with boats religiously

Except Jake and the Neverland Pirates, he despises that

Boats don’t talk in real life! It confuses him and just reminds him his boats can’t actually come to life :(

Speaking of boats, wow this kid is obsessed

JJ loves anything that involves a boat

Seriously, just driving around or along the bank on a boat is his favorite thing

He loves to fish too when he’s little!

However, he hates and I mean hates, fishing with John B

It’s not John B’s fault! But when they’re both little and fishing, John B always says that they should put the fish back to go with his family

JJ could not care less about that and arguments can start over that

He has a stuffed puppy that’s blue

However, his name is not in fact Bluey since JJ is original

Instead, he named the toy Salty since he always smells like sea salt

His favorite person ever when regressed is his Mama, Kie

Depending on his mood, he’ll either be very clingy or a normal amount of clingy

Kie is very responsible, so bedtimes and eating veggies are pretty important

However, she still spoils her baby regardless. If JJ wants a certain toy, he has it. Wants her to read to him, she’s already got him in her lap. He wants to go for a boat ride, she’s got a bag full of toys and they’re ready to go

Kie also likes to take JJ places

She’ll take him to the beach, show him the animals

Other times it’ll be a restaurant

She also makes sure to make things fun. For instance, when cleaning up his room, she’ll make it a game

There’s also bath time

JJ doesn’t really like baths, but Kie can make it fun for him - She’ll put items in the bath, like his favorite little boats and have him play while washing all the sand and salt water off him

She just loves her boy and wants him to be happy

But, there’s also a such thing as inpure regression

Sometimes, after a nightmare or something triggers him, he’ll regress and it’s just awful

He quietly cries, curls in on himself, and he’ll even claw at his skin and cause scars

He always goes to everyone when this happens

Even when they’re all just there, things are automatically better. Kie will hold him, Sarah will kiss his face, and Pope and John B just remind him of how much they all love him through words, cuddles, and more

He’s very scared of losing them, as they’re his family

Going off that, he loves his bubba or big brother, John B

The two like to regress together a lot. Normally they go to the beach together

They also rough house a lot

Every time one falls or is pushed to the ground, it gives Sarah a heart attack

JJ also loves to be babysat by Sarah since John B is normally with her

Pope, also known as Po, is more laid back, just like with John B

He’s the one who can help JJ calm down a bit

JJ and Pope normally just have quiet nights in together

They watch cartoons, read, and just relax

JJ tends to chew on literally anything

Toys, furniture, Pope once in a while

So to help that, Kie got him a shit ton of pacifiers and chewing toys

Kie normally refers to him as baby, sweetheart, hon, little guy, Jage, blondie, silly boy, and my boy

Sarah and Pope stick to buddy, crazy little guy, giggles, or silly

John B calls him Jay. Just Jay, real simple

He has the biggest sweet tooth

He loves all types of candy and eats it to the point Kie has cut him off a few times

Can you tell I have a few headcanons for JJ? Anyways, I’ll probably have something up for caregiver JJ as I probably just as many headcanons for that. Also, requests are always open!

Do y'all remember being in fandoms and wanting to read a reader insert fic that included a character you liked? Or maybe even your favorite character? You were a little excited to see the world and storylines this author came up with and imagine yourself in the story but then you come across something that isn't quite right. Right isn't necessarily the correct word but for the nature of the type of fanfiction it didn't really make sense?

It's a general insert, right? A fic where every reader is supposed to imagine themselves and feel included in the fandom but oh-

You see a comment about pale skin. Or maybe a comment about flowing hair. Or someone very explicitly describing someone's cheeks as red or pink. The same for their lips or if it's smut...well, you know. Pink everything else. They talk about throwing their hair into a messy bun or if they're gripping something, it's always "white knuckled".

You get this oh moment. This moment where you realize that despite what this author says, this wasn't written for you at all. Despite how inclusive they claim to be, someone who looked like you clearly wasn't in mind when they wrote it. It's blatantly a white reader even though it doesn't say it. And you try to think they didn't do it on purpose but doesn't that make it worse? The fact that people who look like you are such a non factor that it didn't even cross their mind that you...exist? You're a little disappointed because you wanted to enjoy it but how can you when the reader insert portion of the fic is clearly not what it's supposed to be?

But it's fine though because that's just one writer!

But it's not one writer or even two or even 5. It's majority of the writers in the fandom. Whether it was Marvel or 1D or whatever other fandom you were in. It was a plethora of writers going out of their way to exclude people. To make it clear who they wrote for and who they wanted reading their fics. And if you bothered to point it out, you were belittled. Your feelings were invalidated because "it's not that big of a deal". Your feelings just didn't matter.

To make matters worse, these fics had thousands of notes. It was a sign that people didn't care. They didn't care that people were being excluded and made to feel left out and like they didn't have a place in that particular part of the fandom. For years people showed that they couldn't care less and you wonder why you're even in the fandom at all. Why even interact with these people who've made it clear they kind of don't want you here? The fandom isn't fun for you and these people have made it that way.

And now those same people wonder why people go out of their way to write things like specific black inserts. Why people go out of their way to make people who've been excluded for years feel included. Why they would want to make a safe space for readers like that. Take a wild guess...

Plot: when JJ accidently slips for the very first time after a surfing accident, it's up to John B to save the day and start JJ on the path to something entirely new

JJ and John B were racing toward the surf break. Anyone could hear the delighted laughs coming from both of them as they raced each other to the water line.

John B made it there first. His board hit the water and he jumped on, JJ following half a second behind.

"Ha! 3rd time in a row I bet you little man. Maybe you should just admit that I'm better then you!"

The causal nickname scratched at the back of JJ's mind and it got a little bit bigger. It was something that he can't quite put his finger on but has been getting evermore urgent. A feeling. It was as if it swallowed all thoughts and left him feeling... he didn't even know how to describe it himself. So he just pushed it back to the depths of his mind.

"Only because I tripped on a rock, gold digger" he teased back.

The friendly competition was quickly pushed aside when they hit the surf break.

They surfed for a while, both content to just be in each other's company and in the water.

That is, until JJ decided that he was going to try a foam climb. He would have gotten it too but he picked the wrong wave and it came crashing down on him sooner then expected.

His board flew out from under him and quickly got swallowed by the waves. He was dragged along behind and engulfed in the waves. He struggled to get up to the surface but it would have been a good 10 seconds before he was able to get a breathe and then he was quickly sucked down again.

And the same time, John B saw him get sucked under and sprung into action. He paddled over to where he saw JJ's board fly out from under him and watched to surface anxiously. When he finally did pop up, John B dived off his board.

He grabbed him by the back of his wetsuit and dragged him up to his board.

That feeling at the back of JJ's mind engulfed everything as soon as he was able to gulp in some air. He felt... soft

"Jesus's christ JJ. What happened? Are you ok?" John B asked, while doing a quick scan to make sure nothing was bleeding or broken.

That one small act of kindness was all it took for the water works to start. Within 10 seconds, broken sobs were breaking free from the poor boy. He scrambled to keep holding onto the borrowed board.

Of course, this just confused John B more. Out of all the years he's known JJ he's only ever seen him cry 3 times. Once when his mother left. Once when his father hit him the first time and once when he broke his leg. Certainly it's not like JJ to cry after missing a wave.

"Hey hey hey. JJ? What wrong? Are you hurt?" John B asked, somewhat frantically. He was sure that JJ had broken something. And something bad.

So when a certain slipped boy sobbed out a broken "da- da", John B was left at a lost for what to do.

He settled on slowly paddling himself and JJ in, figuring that he can calm JJ down and maybe call for an ambulance better on ground. (551)

It was a slow process of John B paddling out a few metres, then stopping to readjust himself and JJ for a minute.

After about 10 minutes though, they made it back and by this point, he had cried himself to a point of hyperventilation. But to John B's relief, he was uninjured.

"J. JJ. Can you look at me? Please?" John B asked gently.

Slowly but surely, JJ came down from his panic attack. He latched onto John B's arm. Still shaking slightly.

JJ didn't slow his cries but he did lift his gaze to John B with desperate "dada" thrown in every so often.

"Good boy JJ. Can you try and slow your breathing for me?" He asked

Did John B have any idea as to what was happening? No

Was he still going to do his best to help his best friend? Hell yeah

And if that meant JJ hiding in John B's arms while calling him "dada", then John B was alright with that.

He could always figure out what happened later after all

It took John B nearly a half hour to calm JJ down enough that he stopped crying.

He decided right then and there that JJ would not be going home to his dad. So John B stood up, getting ready to go to the van.

JJ just stared at him blankly, not making any move to get up.

"Come on bubba. We need to get you back to the shack so we can get cleaned up. Can you stand up please?"

Still he sat there, the poor kid not at all comprehending what the other boy was talking about.

Eventually John B gave up and picked him up. He was surprised by how easily he could pick him up and made a mental note to have a chat to him later about how much he is eating.

He carried JJ over to the Van and put JJ in the passenger seat. He put on his seat belt and they rode back to the shack in silence.

It wasn't long before they got back to the shack but the sun was starting to set, signalling to John B that they had been at the beach all day.

Luckily they had told all the other pogues where they were going before hand so he didn't have to worry about any check ins until the next morning.

He carried him in and placed him as gently as he could on his bed. JJ quickly buried his head into the soft pillow.

He reminded John B so much of a small child that he dug through his bag of childhood belongings as fast as he could to produce a stuffed shark.

He placed the shark in JJ's arms before backing out of the room as quietly as possible. Which of course meant John B tripping over a clump of clothes.

He stumbled out of the room and closed the door. It was only 7 pm but he figured that JJ would be asleep for the rest of the night after the crying session he had earlier.

So he jumped on the old family computer and began researching what the hell happened on that beach.

He researched late into the night, crashing on the couch at well into the early morning.

JJ woke up before he did. He woke him up by putting some old bread into the toaster.

"Morning John B. How'd you sleep?" He asked causally.

"... Morning?" He replied, confused by how... normal JJ was acting. "What happened yesterday?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean why did you cry for nearly an hour after falling off your board?"

This made JJ pause where he was before quietly asking "I did what?"

"You cried for nearly an hour yesterday" John B wasn't sure whether or not JJ had slipped before so he knew he needed to be careful with how he handled this.

"I don't remember doing that man" he replied, continuing with buttering 4 pieces of toast. (492)

"Uhhh... I remember coming off the board. I remember getting caught in the white wash. I remember feeling really scared. And the last thing i remember is you asking me if I was ok before just feeling... fuzzy I guess?" The blonde groaned in frustration. He slammed the knife into the counter, frustrated with being unable to communicate exactly what he meant.
