“Now the City was a place where Mr Banks went every day ~ except Sundays, of course, and Bank Holidays ~ and while he was there he sat on a large chair in front of a large desk and made money. All day long he worked, cutting out pennies and shillings and half-crowns and threepenny bits. And he brought them home with him in his little black bag. Sometimes he would give some to Jane and Michael for their money-boxes, and when he couldn’t spare any he would say, ‘The Bank is broken,’ and they would know he hadn’t made much money that day.”

""When I last saw Gurdjieff, just before he died, he said he would give me something for the rest of my life. And he did. I know that somehow this has been received by me.” (She did not try to explain what that “something” was.) “How has it changed me? I don’t know, I feel myself not changed, but ripening. For me there are no answers, only questions, and I am grateful that the questions go on and on. I don’t look for an answer because I don’t think there is one. I’m very glad to be the bearer of a question."” ~ P. L. Travers

TIL in Saving Mr. Banks, absolutely no mention is made of the fact that, during the time of the film's events, P.L. Travers was engaging in an openly lesbian relationship with her live-in girlfriend, and the girlfriend in question is never once seen.

Call it a hunch, but I feel that P.L. Travers would NOT have approved of the usage of Mary Poppins in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2″.
“How dare they use MY Mary Poppins in such a filthy, shallow,  and disgusting film, and then have the audacity to compare that ugly blue man to her? AND PEOPLE ARE ENJOYING IT LIKE SHE DIDN’T MATTER AT ALL? I should not have sold the rights to that bastard to begin with...”

You know what i hate? When people are like: “Can’t Disney stop making sequels and especially remakes and be original again?” Honestly, how many Disney movies are there that are original? At least of those that are popular and well known to be from Disney? Most of the most popular Disney movies have their sources in fairytales or books. Just like Mary Poppins does. And the original source of Mary Poppins is not one book but a book series with eight books! And the second book is called “Mary Poppins comes back” so the titel of the Mary Poppins sequel is very similar to that. Yes in the book Jane and Michael never grow up, so the second book is not about their children but about more adventures Mary has with them, but then again the books don’t have a a full plotline but every chapter is like a oneshot that stands for itself and a movie needs a plotline that goes through the whole story. So since there are so many great adventures in the Mary Poppins books that aren’t shown in movie form and Mary Poppins world certainly deserves to be rememberd forever in every form of shape, i think it’s okay to add another plotline to have a full stor for a movie.
And to everyone who says “They shouldn’t be doing that they are destroying this wonderful original movie. They anyway can’t life up to that”, they aren’t touching the original movie! They are adding something, but if you don’t like that you can just ignore that. The original Mary Potter movie will not be touched, it can exist on it’s own if you want it to. It will stay it’s glorious self no matter what. I mean it’s also not like the movie has changed the book version. The movie only creates an alternate aspect to the story of Mary Poppins. The story doesn’t get changed, the magic doesn’t get changed the beauty doesn’t get changed. Only different aspecs get added to it in some ways. If P.L.Travers wanted that or not is a completly different discussion. Also it has been stated that in no means the movie makers believe they can be as good as the original movie. They know they can’t achive that, but they will try their best to make an awesome tribute andi am sure if we give them a chance then this movie can be exactly this. I  personally will enjoy this movie, with every hint it gives to the original and i am looking forward to see Jane and Michael gron up and everything else that has changed in the time since Mary Poppins left. Because all i can think of is that Mary Poppins is coming back and isn’t that just fantastic?

快乐不代表一切都很完美,而是选择不去纠结于那些不完美。 Happiness doesn't m ean perfection; it means you choose not to get bogged down by all the imperfections. https://www.instagram.com/p/BxD6m-gA_6Q/?igshid=174pq16hq1u0q

She's a fictional witch played by Julie Andrews who can control the weather and talk to animals. Unless you're suggesting the aunt of P.L.Travers could do the same, I think you've lost sight of your argument here.
I’m sure other people have pointed this out, but in the Edwardian era, most medicines did contain copious amounts of cocaine. So John Oliver is right, Mary Poppins was pushing coke on the Banks children.
