Not to like... precociousness flex or anything but like... when I go on an Aimee Mann binge I always have a flashbulb memory of this fateful night in seventh grade when I randomly pulled Magnolia off my dad's DVD shelf in the middle of the night, realized without pause I was instantly and forever changed by what was now my favorite film of all time, and proceeded to alter my Myspace profile to include only a frame of the film in my "Favorite Movies" section. I then found Aimee Mann's "Video" and made it my profile's auto-play song. I was so obsessed with it I would literally sit in school grinding my teeth waiting until I could get home to hear it again. Anyway, can you imagine if I was anything like this now

not trying to be rude but do you know if Chris is even going through negotiations for projects behind the scenes ? Obviously him doing all these stupid pap and pr is to find work but like we don’t know if there something brewing. It just seems like everyone acting like it takes two days get a projects. Don’t it take a couple of weeks/months ?

It takes months to fully negotiate, you're right, and usually you can't talk about it/post it until it's a done deal. I don't know if the post is still on his IG grid, but when he first posted about his casting in TGM (which I think was early Dec 2020) he made a remark that he had been excited about it "for months." Sometimes there will be a very quick casting, but that usually happens when a previous project falls through.

As to what's happening with him now... no one knows anything. I'm not seeing his name written up in trade publications the way it once was. I'd assume being in LA for awards week was about trying to schmooze for projects, but that's only my assumption, I have no info. I do, however, find it interesting he was there when the first news of this new "super secret" P.T. Anderson ensemble project broke free, and he's always said how much he wants to be in one of that director's films.

Hard Eight (Sydney), 1996 // Dir. Paul Thomas Anderson Me da la impresión de ya haberla visto pero no estoy seguro... El debut de P.T. "prodigio" Anderson y no sé si le entendí o simplemente fue su carta de presentación ante la industria. Cuando veo una película espero una intención autoral, una inquietud que motiva al director a expresar su punto de vista, aquí extrañamente no veo eso, veo una película correcta pero sin alma, bien montada, bien dirigida, bien editada, estupendamente pensada, pero nada arriesgada, nada de contenido, nada de alma, simplemente un ejercicio técnico para dar cara al público. Y esto es fascinante sabiendo en que se convirtió Paul Thomas Anderson, hasta parece una guía precisa de como ganarte a la industria siendo debutante, meticulosa, mesurada, adecuada. Es interesante cómo ejercicio técnico pero como historia, entretenimiento u ocio queda a deber, es cómo una de esas pelis que ves un domingo entre sueños, te duermes 15 min y no pasa nada.

The Long Goodbye (1973)

Robert Altman's mumbling assault on Raymond Chandler's incomparably magnificent detective novel is both a disgraceful act of cultural vandalism and (arguably) a quirky and inventive 'deconstruction' for the hippie generation that must surely have had quite an influence on The Big Lebowski, as well as some of P.T. Anderson's movies, particularly Punch Drunk Love and Inherent Vice.

I don't personally enjoy it all that much, especially the first half, but I admit it has some incomprehensible stoner charm of its own, and little scenes here and there are good.
